Why does my character feel like a background NPC?
>>3942133Because what is special about your character is shared with the other main companions, except you're mute and they have something else that is special also. Also if you play as one of them, you become mute.
Larian has this weird thing, maybe modern Larian at least, about not liking OC main characters. They want you to play one of their own characters.
>>3942133i prefer silent protagonists for role playingplay durge if you want your character to be a special person (tm) like your companionsbg3 isn't as bad as dragon age origins where you can make your best friend the king but dwarves can't become king/queen even though it makes sense in the lore, the warden is way more of a side character than tav/durge
>>3942133the funny thing is despite that you have absolute power over ur companions and can make every decision for them no matter how ridiculous it is. Even in bg2 ur companions had mind of their own and could abandon you or even fight to death with other companions
>>3942133You have internalized feelings of self-inadequacy which you project into media you consume. And this is only countered by “EXTREME” levels of making the character you project upon central to everything. You should try reading / watching / playing some the chinese / korean cultivation or isekai “cheat” stuff - you’ll find that a pretty good fit for what you’re looking for.
>>3942236Even durge feels loosely tied to the main plot. Idk I like my dude being the main attraction, I'm not sure whats cool about being a walking subplot (at best)>>3942267this sounds like freshman/sophomore gobbledygook
>>3942181>Larian has this weird thing, maybe modern Larian at least, about not liking OC main characters. They want you to play one of their own characters.I’m sure someone else can post the salty “we gave you horns and you made the white male vault dweller” post from early access. You can tell Larian was mad about this due to how they nerfed the generic mercenaries from DOS2 into BG3 being locked to specific combos with backstories rather than freeform party generation
>>3942270>>3942267Nah it checks out. >A lack of control in real life expresses itself as a desire for high degrees of control in fictionIt isn’t that complicated or out there
>>3942133If you want to experience a better story, you have to play dark urge. Sadly only realized this on a second playthrough
>>3942133Because they wanted to jam this origin character shit into the game. Also BG3 is extremely overrated. It's a 6/10 game maybe with 7/10 gameplay and a 4/10 story.
>>3942292You're trying to bait an effort post with armchair psychoanalysis and I won't bite. Its not even the statement but the piss poor logic at play from someone who read Freud for the first time thats irritating here.>Your desire to le understand others means you are le unknown to yourselfIf you claim this statement isn't true I'll say you're in denial btw
Because all the characters around you are poorly written
