Translations aren't just a linear "translate this word, then that word..." process. There's a lot of proof reading, cross referencing, etc. And you have to decide on conventions as you go. with DLC 3, most of those conventions were already in place.

I think between the Mental Ward book and the stuff in the Chaos Dungeon and the fact that Toro wants to make a game about the Princesses I've come to realise you're probably meant to infer that while RHW was Mary's first iteration of her Garden and BS1 was the last, she probably had a few other ones in between where she played with other characters, which explains Dorothy's adventures. Then with BS1 she kind of shoved a bunch of them together, which is why the Lost Empire looks like such a patchwork of places at times. Chiefly this works out to answer something that's been bugging me for a while, which is how things like Dorothy's backstory with Leonard and Glinda could have happened when BS1 is just a story centred on Grimm and Mary hammers home how there's no real before and after to a book, you just repeat it over and over. All that stuff probably did happen in a different iteration of Elysium, one between RHW and BS1 in which Mary used Dorothy as her protagonist and which is what we read about in BS2, and then Mary grafted that onto the Lost Empire the same way she did with Red's house. Presumably the Princesses game might be another of her pre-BS1 plays, and this explains all those things about BS1 that seem to have happened in a past that can't really have existed. Maybe there was even a Lost Empire before Grimm and then she just made him the protagonist once Prayer Master fucked up the Tea Party by refusing to accept the cuck chair.

In the end I do perfer having party members over not, I'm the type of person that likes filling the roles of ab rpg party and mixing in a bard or jester or whatever fun gimmick class the game offers after i solidify my party's main physical, caster and healer/buffer roles.

At least for a first run; you can play around more once you know the game well (but I'm pretty sure you almost never summon in SL1).
