so I finally finished all (non alt route) events in day 2, including the optional ones the alt route is mostly just alternate events/short gameplay segments like day 1 was, so hopefully those will be fast-ish to do
which means all that is left before the alt route is just to finish all enemy movesets since I left it to now
I actually finished this enemy for the archives earlier this week, based on the good ol' clippy (since the area he is in is kanako's desk + computer)
I just need a better name for it since the current one sucks, so I'm open to suggestions

I'm really excited for the release, from what I've seen, there's a better variety of attack patterns in chapter 2.

Nothing is coming to mind for a name, I just keep thinking of a description like "the paper clip on a power trip".
Maybe something like Office Jacks to rhyme with office max, and they feel like they've got generic office worker clothes on?

https://files.catbox.moe/wkmqze.jpg

You know, I'm surprised I haven't seen too many projects that just seek to modify the base game of UT, rather than being full-blown fangames.
I feel like past a certain point it'd probably be easier just to make a total conversion mod for UT, since it already has stuff to work with, especially for projects that are pretty directly based on UT itself anyway, like Underswap or Underfell.
>>
>>3947703
the codebase of UT is so fucking bad it is preferably to just make an entire new engine from scratch than try to reuse it
deltarune's isn't much better either
there was an anon that was trying to make a base in godot for other people to make their UT fangames off from, but he disappeared. the closest we have to that is that one cyan's take's engine (but it is still in gamemaker)
>>
>>3947703
I assume that ties into peoples expectations of what they are getting into vs how easy it is in comparison to just put all of your ideas for an au on paper. You can write mountains of stuff on your idea for an au, and then people want to turn that into a game and thing they'll just "do this, but with coding" and that's just a different beast. Especially when they just assume "oh I'll just recruit a coder and it will all come together!"
to which I say "lol, lmao even." This is probably why you see so many new fangames pop up with every role filled except coder.
>>
>>3947705
>the codebase of UT is so fucking bad it is preferably to just make an entire new engine from scratch than try to reuse it
I feel like that can't be true, but I don't know enough about software engineering to dispute it, so I'll take your word for it. I do know that Toby's bad at programming though, so maybe you have a point.
>there was an anon that was trying to make a base in godot for other people to make their UT fangames off from, but he disappeared.
Toby sent a kill squad after him.
>the closest we have to that is that one cyan's take's engine (but it is still in gamemaker)
Wasn't there some old program that was supposed to help people create fangames way back in the day? Not Unitale, I think that was just for fights, but I remember there being a project with an actual functioning overworld and everything that was supposed to make things way easier for people.
Anyone know what I'm talking about? Did that ever go anywhere?

What can I say, pregnancy is hot.
>>
>>3947765
That's not my issue here, my issue is that it comes up so constantly, in every single thread, even the /v/s.
My issue isn't that it's a fetish, or even necessarily a fetish I dislike in particular, it's that the topic is just being done to death at this point and it's exhausting having to see it all the time.
Just, space it out a bit more, let it fucking breathe, will you?

And somehow, for these threads, that is a substantial improvement.
But you get my point, I just want this shit to slow down some, it's been way too overabundant in recent threads and it's been dominating discussions.
It's a fetish that somehow wormed its way into becoming a main topic of discussion and it needs to die down some.
>>
>>3947773
Hey, this time we were just talking about pregnancy, unbirthing is the fetish that has been talked to death.

I don't know, I just try to work on my project whenever I can, but I still procrastinate for most of the day.
>>
>>3947797
Depends on what you're procrastinating on.
For me, I usually just turn off any unnecessary devices and place them out of eyeshot and arm's reach so I can focus, but that doesn't stop me from tabbing back in here every once in a while.
>>
>>3947780
You're pretty much a self fulfilling prophecy. You were the one who brought it up when you didn't need to.
You could have just stayed quiet and that would be that. Instead you brought attention to the topic, leading to it being talked about.
>>
>>3947801
mostly social media, mostly /v/ nowadays
>>
>>3947797
The cure for procrastination is to simply just do something.
That's literally it. Just do it. Draw, code, write whatever it is, just do it, instead of thinking about doing it.
You just need to get into the habit of starting something, instead of making excuses to yourself that you can start it later.
>>
>>3947798
That's a good point, Martlet literally grows in size, so if she were to lay an egg, it would be bigger compared to her normal form.
>>
>>3947612
I like anon's >>3947630 suggestion for Zippy
>>
>>3947797
Actually, there are two "tricks" that sorta help me when I need to do something.
The first is to just tell yourself that procrastinating on the thing makes it take up more time than just sitting down and doing it, which sometimes makes biting the bullet a little easier.
The second is to tell yourself that you'll only do a certain amount of the thing (assuming the thing can be broken down into chunks) within a certain timespan, and that you'll stop after that. That one works by making you feel better about working on it, but then by the time you told yourself you were going to stop, you just keep working on it instead. It's a little harder to pull off, but it's worked for me before.
Then there's the secret third trick, which is to imagine whoever your favorite character is being very disappointed in you for not doing your work.
>>
>>3947743
Zartlet, but Quetzali is clearly going to lay multiple eggs
>>
>>3947802

Ralsei was the one that made me a furry but Asriel has better paws due to how long his robe is and what that does for framing. UT's world is simply designed for footfags.

I'm not into feet, but I did make those characters barefoot so they would look more monstrous, in a way shoes feel to "human" if that makes any sense.

I found it interesting that "feet, paws, talons" had approximately the same amount of mentions and discussion as "Pregancy, unbirthing" when I looked back at the previous thread for key words. It also happened at alternative times to eachother. Fascinating stuff.

Anyways I'm reading about bird and fox tongues. Apparently spicy isn't the only thing that birds don't pick up as much as humans, but I think they can "enjoy" sour more than most mammals.

>I found it interesting that "feet, paws, talons" had approximately the same amount of mentions and discussion as "Pregancy, unbirthing" when I looked back at the previous thread for key words.
As key words maybe, but as actual topics of discussion, they're much less prevalent.
It's not like people are discussing and writing entire fics about Ceroba's paws or Martlet's talons.
I would know, I've checked.

no one is writing a fic about the fetish itself, to be fair. The discussion in the last thread about feet, particularly talons, was more involved than any discussion about pregnancy as well. There was a 6 day gap during which unbirthing wasn't mentioned a single time, however during that time talons were discussed. I also used another key word for the pregnancy search to make sure I was using 3 for each, but I'm omitting that one since it provided other results as well. I don't know why I'm doing this. I wasn't invested in that earlier discussion at all. blame the autism.

>>3947901
I was thinking that maybe Martlets poor skill at cooking could be tied to how bird taste works, and then I started wondering even more from there. Apparently birds also go with how things feel on their beak? I don't know all too much about birds, yet.

>no one is writing a fic about the fetish itself, to be fair.
True, but that's still where it all comes from, the fetish is at the core of the idea itself.
>The discussion in the last thread about feet, particularly talons, was more involved than any discussion about pregnancy as well.
Which discussion was that? I feel like I'd remember something like that, but maybe I missed it.
>I don't know why I'm doing this. I wasn't invested in that earlier discussion at all. blame the autism.
Curiosity, I guess.
>I was thinking that maybe Martlets poor skill at cooking could be tied to how bird taste works, and then I started wondering even more from there.
Eh, I guess that's a reasonable line of thinking. Though I feel like that would just make her a bad cook for anyone who isn't also a bird, as opposed to being a bad cook in general.

>but that's still where it all comes from, the fetish is at the core of the idea itself.
I see no issue. sometimes the weirdest things inspire an idea, and you don't ditch the idea just because the thing that sparked it is weird.
>Which discussion was that?
I'd summarize it as "what kind of feet the monsters underground should be depicted with" and the mood of the discussion was largely not chaste. Using the starting point when I found the key words, and then looking for related posts, the discussion was more in detail than any pregnancy related discussion (in this particular thread). The key words were used less times, but most of the key word uses in the pregnancy side of things were just people responding with requests to that one anon, with one of the results for those key words being someone wanting to get one of the foxes (male) pregnant.
I think that while we have had overdone pregnancy fetish conversations in the past, other degeneracy seems to have actually taken the spotlight this month.
>Curiosity, I guess.
probably, too little sleep to be actually productive so why not do the stupidest analysis imaginable. The great foot pregnancy wars, separate those words if you wish.
>Though I feel like that would just make her a bad cook for anyone who isn't also a bird, as opposed to being a bad cook in general.
largely but, they seem to have a lower sensitivity for most flavors, except I think sour? A lot of birds seem very adapted to sour flavors, likely related to eating fruit of some sort.
>You also said in your other post that you were looking into fox tongues too. Similar reasons for that, I assume?
yes, since people like to depict roba as a good cook, my mind went that way. Pretty standard carnivore taste, but I could see the enhanced sense of smell aiding in cooking.
>>
>>3947909
Ok I will, but it might take a while because the pressure is making me anxious
>>
>>3947911
>sticker
Oh, that.
I dunno, I've seen some pretty in-depth discussions about the pregnancy stuff that went way further than the talon discussion you're referring to. Maybe not in that thread in particular, but I don't think a single thread's sample size is really adequate here.
>one of the results for those key words being someone wanting to get one of the foxes (male) pregnant.
Pretty sure I know what post in particular, and I'm also pretty sure that anon was joking.
At least, I'm fairly sure. Mostly.
I guess that was in response to my "heat cycles" idea, so maybe I can take the blame on that one, but everyone involved in that conversation was pretty clearly operating under the idea that it wasn't really a serious topic.
>The great foot pregnancy wars, separate those words if you wish.
I'd have greatly preferred if you simply didn't say them.
>Pretty standard carnivore taste, but I could see the enhanced sense of smell aiding in cooking.

>>
>>3947913
>Maybe not in that thread in particular
correct, the last thread and the thread before that however were lighter on the actual discussion of the topic, with most hits for the key words being people making requests and one off statements. something like "I'm going to get my fox wife pregnant and have a family" isn't the same as "the inner philosophical reasons why feet get my dick hard". though as I stated, we've had overly in depth conversations on the whole other fetish thing as well for sure.
>and I'm also pretty sure that anon was joking.
well yes, I excluded it from my count, though at the same time I think there may have been some sincere feelings being expressed considering one of the threads that was deleted this last go around was during an in depth conversation about sex with Reynault.
In the last thread, most actual mentions of pregnancy were one off request posts, and the general nastiness that has taken place this month, is far greater in other categories.
I don't personally take much issue with any of the fetish stuff people sling around here. I sit perfectly fine through some posts that are anathema to myself, but It struck me odd how big of a reaction it got in this thread when it's been on the decline in discussion. I wonder how many neurons I condemned thinking all of this through
>Eh, maybe she makes a killer steak
likely that, and any savory dish. She'd probably make amazing stews and well, any meal that makes you think "a warm home an a hot dinner".
For Martlet, if she has a poor sense of sweet and spicy, but decent bitters and sours, she'd probably do better arranging foods that didn't need a fire to make.
>>
>>3947918
>"the inner philosophical reasons why feet get my dick hard"

I definitely feel like I missed that one.
>though at the same time I think there may have been some sincere feelings being expressed considering one of the threads that was deleted this last go around was during an in depth conversation about sex with Reynault.
Okay, that one was me, I did that. Wasn't really in-depth though, it was mostly dumb bullshit.
>It struck me odd how big of a reaction it got in this thread when it's been on the decline in discussion.
I don't think it's just that it's on the decline as of late, I think it's just that it's been around for as long as it has been and still pops up pretty frequently.
It came up again in one of the threads just a few days ago, so I'd say it's still fairly common.
>She'd probably make amazing stews and well, any meal that makes you think "a warm home an a hot dinner".
Huh, never thought about it that way before.
Coming home to her after a long day's work must be amazing.
>>
>>3947921
>Wait, did that also happen in the last thread?
it happened in the last two threads though I am paraphrasing a bit, but the barely contained (and sometimes not contained at all) foot lust was very evident in both threads.
> it was mostly dumb bullshit.
Like I said, it doesn't bother me, I just think people were overreacting this one time based on what I've seen going back over the last two threads. Hell, the thread before last was THE paw/talon thread from the looks of it, and is where the first "sticker" came into play
>so I'd say it's still fairly common
yeah but getting half the discussion of the paw stuff, it just seemed like an overreaction to me, though I didn't mean to drag my dumb as hell evaluation out over this many posts. I'm going to stop analyzing the dumb argument itself and focus on something else. Please excuse my autism.

>Coming home to her after a long day's work must be amazing.
the savory aroma filling the house as you walk in after a long, cold day. The scents of spices in her dress as she greets you, as warmly as dinner itself.

As for Martlet, I'm reading that bird beaks are very sensitive inside and out, so mouthfeel of a dish would make a big difference for her probably. and kissing would be an entirely different experience altogether

>yeah but getting half the discussion of the paw stuff, it just seemed like an overreaction to me,
Eh, I don't think the paw/talon stuff's had the same longevity, and I don't see it attaining it either.
Who knows, maybe I'll be wrong about that in a really weird way somehow.
>I'm going to stop analyzing the dumb argument itself and focus on something else. Please excuse my autism.
It's cool, don't worry about it.
Meta-analysis is useful for certain things, lets us see where the ship's headed.

Yeah, I guess bird cooking would be pretty unique.

I am now praying that the person writing the anon x Martlet thing is aware of the sensitivity of bird beaks.
>Assuming it doesn't just end up like a certain greentext, anyway.
gut feeling tells me I don't want to know, but now I'M thinking about coming home to Martlet, beak and feathers. A deep, bird shaped emptiness in my being.
>>
>>3947934
>I am now praying that the person writing the anon x Martlet thing is aware of the sensitivity of bird beaks.
Well, other than the thing I was referring to, I could potentially see bird monsters preening each other as an alternative to kissing, sorta. Though that wouldn't work if a bird monster is in a relationship with a non-bird, since then they'd just be biting them.
But maybe some people would want that, so who knows.
>gut feeling tells me I don't want to know
Actually, there were two greentexts about being "fed" by Martlet.
Neither of them are good, but one is much worse than the other.
And now, having said this, it is only a matter of time until both of them find their way to you directly.
I am sorry.
>>
>>3947935
>Well, other than the thing I was referring to, I could potentially see bird monsters preening each other as an alternative to kissing, sorta. Though that wouldn't work if a bird monster is in a relationship with a non-bird, since then they'd just be biting them.

Hmm, since birds have very sensitive beaks, with good senses of pressure, maybe they could adapt and basically just nibble in a more affectionate manner, focusing mostly on hair, but also gently "pecking" at other places to simulate the act. Maybe the bird partnered with a human is feeling "lonely" in a strange way, realizing she can't do group preening, and so the couple has the idea to try simulating it best they can with each others different bodies. It's not perfect, but maybe they could make it work enough in a way where the human comes to understand his mate better on a physical level. Wild, never thought I'd want something like this.

>it is only a matter of time until both of them find their way to you directly.
Shadow Librarby can't build itself I suppose.

You will use your mouth to preen your bird girlfriend's feathers and you will like it.
>Wild, never thought I'd want something like this.
I've seen weirder desires.
Hell, I've had weirder desires.
If anything, what you desire is deeper physical and emotional connection with a significant other, who is also a bird.
>Shadow Librarby can't build itself I suppose.
Ah.
My condolences.
>>
>>3947939
>You will use your mouth to preen your bird girlfriend's feathers and you will like it.
I see nothing but positives here, but I am a human, so the hands will not lay idle. she'd get frustrated as my hands running through her feathers mess them up, and then flustered as I gently put them back in place
>If anything, what you desire is deeper physical and emotional connection with a significant other, who is also a bird.
can't argue with that.

- Methodical Roba: I understand the logic, and it's not wrong, but I think this is another case of opportunity cost. Is the scene made more or less interesting if Clover and Val take the initiative to test the link in a character driven way, as opposed to Roba's more precise method? I would wager on the former. This is the kind of thing I keep in mind when writing POV's in my own stuff. Which character will have the most interesting thoughts in this situation? Who has the most emotional investment? What actions need additional context?

- Clover's Jump: Ah, I see. Martlet comforting Clover immediately after that statement in particular caused me to infer.

- Crash Out: I dunno. Some slang goes the distance, like "cool," while others very much do not, like "tubular." If you choose poorly, you'll end up severely dating your work. But I admit to being biased; hearing the term "crash out" makes my blood boil.

- Flowey's Digga Moment: You could have him pop out periodically, with the rationale that he's checking whether they're at the key locations or somewhere on the way to them. You could also do some drive-by character work with him. Give him some thoughts about Asgore and the castle, for instance.

Shattered Gold (Stars): I should clarify a bit more. Why would Clover assume that there is only one SAVE point? He's seen tons of them. Regardless, the in-character logic you supply isn't wrong, but I think you have a better option in:
1. evil time flower freaked out
2. time and space freaked out
3. now I'm here and the evil time flower isn't even trying to do anything
>>
>>3948434
You don't know because he got goner'd
>>
>>3948435
Bull-Headedness: I do think you're sticking to your guns to your own detriment here, but I understand that it comes with the territory, and it is /your/ story, not my story. It's not my place to expect you to do everything or anything that I suggest. Also, I would offer my thoughts even if I knew for a fact that they wouldn't be heeded, because I enjoy critique; it's an artform all its own. So don't worry about me feeling like I wasted anything.

Making Space for More Things: Could you expand on why you believe that you can't slow things down? This seems to be a recurring point of contention. For now, I'll offer some ideas and give examples from this chapter where I can see them being implemented.

- Multi-Threading: You can accomplish a lot by separating characters and then breaking the scene such that they both get time with other characters or with themselves. You could do this during the Steamworks trip, where Val flies off. You already have the thread where she's introspecting. You can then cut to Ceroba and Starlo, then the two threads wind back together.

- Walk and Talk: Plot stuff and character stuff can happen at the same time, and indeed, that's ideal. The simplest form of this is having characters in movement (progressing toward plot-related destinations) while having conversations (progressing character arcs and/or relationships). You could do this with the trek toward the Ketsukane Estate.

Safe travels, anon.
