>remember I had this in my library>remember people would tell me that it's like if people who really loved CT tried to remake it but didn't understand anything that made that game special outside of the combat>play it>that's actually what the game isI have nothing else to say other than I finally understand people who say it's better to be bad than forgettable.
>>3951074the only thing i remember about this game is that one streamer decide to name all her character "setsuna" and it was an epic mess.
>>3951074For some reason, everyone who "loves a game" or makes an "homage to another game" always produces shit.
>>3951074The other one is basically the same deal too. Lost Sphear I think?
>>3951074The director intentionally made it piss easy so it would be accessible to everyone to see the story. Which made it mind numbingly boring to play. I quit half way. Shame because it could be a decent rpg of the difficulty was at least normal instead of brain dead.
>>3951074I also thought Sea of Stars was such a shallow knockoff of CT but then I remembered this thing existed. Both are equally bad tho. SoS is just better at hiding it by those fancy spritework
>>3951385It's not even shit, it's competently made. It's just very forgettable.
>>3951385because they love some specific part of the game not the entire game. I love the class system in FFT but i really don't care about the tactical combat and i hate how everytime i try to find "fft" like they drop a bunch of grind tactical games some are not even rpg.
>>3951074I liked it desu, as well as Lost Sphear and Oninaki
>>3951739>I love the class system in FFT but i really don't care about the tactical combatHave you tried FF5?
>>3951739If you like class system-based JRPGs and don't want an SRPG then I can recommend>DQ3, 6, 7, 9, and 10 (3 is best in terms of class design imo)>Strangers of Paradise>FF5, X-2, and 12>most>Xenoblade 3>Bravely Default/Second>Crystal Project
>>3951881>>Bravely Default/SecondIt's funny that people just pretend 2 didn't happen. I mean I don't care for it either, but I never really managed to pin down why I slid off it almost immediately when Default and Second are rather slow burns. Maybe it was a lack of Edea
>>3954609because its a downgrade in every aspect. The characters, world, art, music, story, and mechanics are all worse. The biggest and most apparent fault is that changing away from rounds to ATB completely breaks the Brave/Default system
It was a good gameMaybe i am a bit biased as i didn't like chrono trigger at allTo me this game was perfect amount of everything combat, cliche story, characters, asspully soap opera ending Nothing outstayed it's welcome even if it wasn't some "innovative genre changing masterpiece" some dweebs will be creaming their pants over 30 years later Snow looked really cool too
>>3951074>Square creates a studio focused on retro titles inspired by their old 16-bit games>they all bomb hard in terms of sales and reception>Octopath Traveler comes out two years after Setsuna and it managed to outdo Tokyo RPG Factory's first title>the studio closes down after OninakiProof that Square is full of retards
I liked it, overall, but I could go on about its flaws. The story is up and down and undercuts itself at every turn (Nidr's revelation and how he expresses himself is great, coming in a random flashback in a random dungeon was poorly timed). Setsuna is extremely dumb at the end and the ambiguous ending is unfulfilling. The combat has a lot of depth, but you never need to explore it. The enemy's are easy, and a few basic abilities breaks the game in half. Only a handful of Spritnite Eaten creatures are any challenge. It also suffers from not being able to position your characters on the combat field (honestly one of Chrono Trigger's flaws too). The music has a couple tracks, but the piano is repetitive. Also, I'm of the opinion that piano is for rain, and strings/violin is the instrument for snow. The visuals are gorgeous, I love the environment and character design. They did a good job of exploring the winter theme without getting overtly monotonous (it's thankfully short). I thought the tiny feet on the already abstract models to be cute. Overall, the look is its strongest suit. I like games that narrow down their setting a bit more than kitchen sink fantasy and explore it with a fine-tooth comb, and I think Setsuna does that well.Great game, 5/10.
>>3955875indie dev smarru then japanese peepee, understand kudasai
>>3955875>square is full of retardsdude it wasn't clear when they kept pushing lightning for half a decade while everyone was very vocal about how they hated her?
>>3954609For me, BD2 was fun to break in half like it's Final Fantasy VIII with how exploitable the abilities were. But I genuinely can't remember anything about what the plot was or even what Not Agnes' name is. Just a fucking mess of a game overall.
