The 1 More system from the persona games is basically the best RPG battle system. -It's Dynamic-Rewards the player for not just mindlessly mashing "Attack"Just sucks the rest of the game is dog shit.
>>3979206>Rewards the player for not just mindlessly mashing "Attack"For me, it's mindlessly mashing "Attack"
>>3979206for me it's seeing the all out attack animation a hundred million times
>>3979210I like to do easy combos from time to time like Y Y X etc
>>3979206>It's Dynamiclol>if enemy a use skill bweakness exploitation is reducing player agency
>the worst part of the game is good>all the good parts are badDaring today aren't we.
>>3979206he bottoms btw
>>3979206>-Rewards the player for not just mindlessly mashing "Attack"No it just rewards them for spamming a different attack
>>3979206>rewarding the player excessively for playing the game the way they're already supposed to be playing it in the first placeThis isn't as good of design as you think it is. This is just a way for devs to drag players by the ear into the way they feel is the "intended" way, invalidating options that would otherwise be strategically sound.
>>3979206That's not the SaGa: Scarlet Grace battle system
>>3979206Cold steel does it better
>>3979338most Asians do
It's just a dumbed down version of SMT's press turn system
1 More, Press Turn, Brave & Break, Timed Hits are all bad examples of trying to modernize turn based combat. What they need to make turn based combat interesting is diversifying options, make varied effects that are not just deal damage / heal / buff, enemies that have different abilities, interesting enemy formations, battle events, and so on..
For all its faults Tokyo Mirage Sessions has the best combat system in megaten and no one can convince me otherwise
>>39792061 More is quite literally Press Turn with the defensive aspect stripped out. It's designed to be a casualized Press Turn
Now you just mindlessly mash the counter element.Bravo!
>>3979615Press Turn's main benefit is encouraging more thoughtful team composition which makes sense in SMT where you have a lot of control over that aspect. It's a system that is simple in the moment but actually taking advantage of it consistently either requires foreknowledge of encounters or having a well rounded team.
>>3979870Press Turn is just 1 more of a different flavor. Any demon with repel/block phys is going to do well just by virtue of denying most enemy groups a full turn
>>3979206Its a shittier press turn system
>>3979206Press turns are better
SMT 3 has 4 layers of up/down de/buffs, all of them cast as aoe from the early game, making even auto attack engaging>....>Persona: Remove all weaknesses for bosses cus uhhh cinematic!>can't outsmart or stunt on bosses
The main good thing about stuff like press turn and apocalypse smirk is that even normal encounter enemies can credibly kill you if you're playing mindlessly. It's otherwise fairly hard to make random encounter type enemies quick enough to resolve but also not completely toothless.
>>3980218it's very easy, actually. lower the numbers.
The main issue with one more is that the protagonist is too versatile and can knock everything down themselves. I'm too dumb to think about how this can be fixed without ruining persona building fusion autism.
>>3979206It's sad to know the P4 remake will take out out all the based jokes like this.
>>3979264more like every enemy having some kind of elemental weakness is super lameonly dungeons and dragons (3E+) ever rewarded creature knowledge right, making exploitation feel organic and natural rather than contrived weaknessess.
>>3980282>only dungeons and dragons (3E+) ever rewarded creature knowledge right, making exploitation feel organic and naturalOne of the most absurd statements I've heard on this board. DnD is notorious for having one of the least interesting implementations of weaknesses and rssistances in tabletop
>>3980272Relying on the mc to handle all of the knockdowns is just being inefficient with your resources. You have 4 party members, MC's primary job is to fill in the holes that the others cant do.
>>3980127>Press Turn is just 1 more of a different flavorNo shit. Doesn't change the fact that the entire point of both systems is to reward you for understanding how character/team building works.
>>3981161>understanding how character/team building worksRock, Paper, Scissors.
>>3981174You wouldn't get the point if it broke through your wall like the kool aid man and beat you over the head.
>>3979552No it's not, they're the exact same system but adapted for the different turn systems.
