No RPG will ever have gameplay as amazing as Morrowind.
>>3980629Did you see the new video with Morrowind in Elden Ring?
>>3980629>This fight is over!Well, it was.
>>3980629>morrowboomers can't have fun unless their game is modded
>>3980669I would still take it over souls shit. But they refined it in later games anyway.
>>3980629Reminds me of some Might and Magic screencap of the player casting levitate then proceeding to blast everything with fireballs. It should frankly be the expected minimum of any game with magic in it.
I love Morrowind and have played it an innumerable amount of times. I don't think I have ever once spammed enchanted items in this fashion, just seems cheesy and stupid and boring. Last time I played I think the only enchanted items I used were amulets of divine intervention, mark, and recall, for convenience since I wasn't using mysticism as a character skill.
>>3980685>some Might and Magic screencap of the player casting levitate then proceeding to blast everything with fireballsI remember in the PC Gamer review of Daggerfall, the reviewer would cast levitate on their horse and then fly around with Ride of the Valkyries blaring on their office speakers. Good times
>>3980685you can do it in Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 too.but you will run out of prana very fast, even if you use the more "efficient" Flame Wind spell which tends to miss a lot.and there's a forced delay between each spell. Shockwave in UW2 works better w/o the flying but you accidentally hit a plot NPC with that.
>>3980669>video of character with no applicable skill failing at that skillWhy not post another vid of a non-spellcaster trying to levitate?
>>3980677>they refined it in later gamesYou mean earlier? The best incarnation of combat in tes is daggerfall, stats matter like morrowind but the more elaborate across the screen motions make the strikes feel way better than the silly weightless lever arm striking motion in mw.
>>3980748>The best incarnation of combat in tes is daggerfalllol, lmao even
>>3980748Lol
>>3980669well technically all of that could be possible in the base game. It would require exploiting the enchant/alchemy thing, creating an enchanted item with some spell on it, and having high enough enchant that it only costs 1 charge. Spells take time to cast, but casting enchanted items doesnt. High jump skill is possible with the icarus flight scrolls, but even enough fortify skill will work for jumping around all over the place.
>>3980629This looks like a Roblox game made by a 10 year old
>>3980855Prove it.
>>3980844easily possible even without any really degenerate exploits. There's a bunch of random sources of fortify enchant in the base game so you can do it without the massive gay exploits created by getting a fortify skill spell in Tribunal.
>>3980876Maybe, yeah.
>>3980753>>3980822Nothing I said is disputable. Play the actual games. Morrowind feels notably dated going straight from daggerfall, and oblivion and skyrim are obviously total jokes except not fun at all.
>>3980984>cmon guise im serious(You)I should really start looking for better discussion forums
>>3981022not an argument
>>3980629clearly youve never played RPGmaker 2000
>>3980984
>>3980984the games have been getting progressively betterskyrim was notably more fun than oblivion and morrowind, though it had worse aesthetics than oblivion imo
>>3981571for me, better mechanics doesn't equal fun. i hardly remember what i did in skyrim despite playing for hundreds of hours. so bland, repetitive and uninspired.i don't really know why morrowind felt so much more engaging; aesthetics play a part, sure. but it's also the dialogue being more down to earth and relatable, stuff that makes you go "heh, get a load of this crackhead", compared to skyrims carrot-up-the-ass "pah pa pah, muh NORDS! muh ELVES! pa-pah!" inane babble. i literally can't remember anyone ever saying anything remotely interesting. there's also obviously the part where you're expected to actually pay attention to your surroundings and figure shit out, instead of just pointing your character towards quest marker.
>>3981571Skyrim's action mechanics are still so bad that the infinitesimal progress from Morrowind is meaningless. While everything but the action is subhumanly retarded.
>>3981571That's why I'm hoping the Skywind turns out good. I have an itch to replay Morrowind, but it goes away once I remember the combat is braindead simple. There's not much mods can do with the original either, since enemy animations and such weren't made for anything but "sit down and watch combat happen".
>>3981571if you actually believe this while having played the earlier ones you NEED to die.
