You know the drill.

game had such an unfortunate release window right between ssi and ie games.
>>
>>3986925
Goldbox was dying, they'd held onto the engine for too long. IE games were directly inspired by it.
The problem was it was too little too late and the followup was way too buggy.
>>
>>3986928
the saddest thing is being turn-based makes dark sun more relevant to modern crpgs than either of its contemporaries
>>
>>3986931
>either of its contemporaries
I'm confused by this.

I just want an honest answer. The jank won't bug me, I've played total piece of shit games in the past, but... is it entirely focused on combat, or is there anything else to it?
>>
>>3987082
Questing and exploration more, combat is fairly easy, depending on your party and familiarity with 2nd Edition, until the very last fight of the game. It's overall not a large or long game, very tight package, maybe 20 hours.
>>
>>3987102
I see. Well, sounds like it's time to finally give it a shot. I'd consider myself pretty adept at the system, though far less so Dark Sun specific changes, so it depends on how different it is in practice
>>
>>3986922
Enlighten me on the drill
>>
>>3987111
Biggest trap for those who don't know is Druid>Cleric in this setting because there are no gods, clerics are more elemental focused and can't even raise the dead.
>>

>still no survival simulator set in Dark Sun
How? It's a perfect setting for it.
>>
>>3986922
Dark Sun, and Warriors of Eternal Sun for Genesis, were terrible. edgy doomed world trying to be more hardcore and hard for the sake of being hard.
>>
>>3987131
That'd require anyone in charge of approving such things to care about Dark Sun, which I assure you is not the case.
>>
>>3986922
No
No, I don't
What's the drill?

This is an awesome little game with great graphics and music and solid combat, but the worst bugs I have ever seen. Like everything feels like it's on the verge of not working or has already stopped working.
Made it to the big desert area and bopped around on all the screens. That was where I put it down. I think I'm near the end of the game.

I've played it many times and never had any showstopping bugs outside of the final battle not triggering, just had really good luck, but it never struck me as even half as bad as any Bethesda game. Now, the second game is buggy as all hell.
>>
>>3986922
I've heard about this more than any other goldbox game. Is that because it's the best, or most controversial?
>>
>>3987268
It's not a Goldbox game.
>>
>>3987277
>>3987268
Ok, other strategic simulation games of that era, then.
>>
>>3987299
SSI made a lot of games, but they existed in a time before most people who discuss games here were active players of RPGs, so the later the game was released the more well known. It's the kinda developer that influenced the developers you know rather than part of your experience.

>big beefy guy inviting you for gay sex
No wonder this shit bombed and no one cares about it these days.
>>
>>3987305
It's funny how differently you guys see it because you live in a post Gachi world. I remember when I was a kid watching Mad Max I never even got the leatherclub undertones.
>>
>>3987307
Nah, you were just a faggy kid that should have gotten his shit beat in more
>>
>>3987370
Non sequitur.
