>>40001565 and Azuma were just not hitting the same way.I'd rather replay Frontier, 3and,4 on the PC now.
>>4000161What about Tides?
>>4000172Bretty good actually. The one I replayed the elast. Maybe I should start with that.3 is still the GOAT though
>>4000176For real. I wish it had more post game content.
>>4000177It's a shame that the only one with really any postgame at all was 4
When are we getting news about RF6?
>>4000196Since both Bokujo Monogatari and RF celebrate their anniversaries in August, I assume that's when we'll get the big announcements.
>>4000218I would like to see the old games (1,2, Frontier, Tides) ported to modern systems but at the same time I don't want this since they would definitely alter some stuff because it's not appropriate anymore.
>>4000248Yeah they could keep everything the same and put a "this game was done in a different era so the values don't reflect the current ones and yada yada" notice and call it a day but localizers and investors wouldn't allow it.I have a feeling they'll remake at least RF1. I just hope they don't make changes to the designs of the characters.
2 needs more love.
>>4000271As soon as I am done with Tides I'll play RF1 then 2 again. It's been some 18 years since I last played them.
Big world for a wooly
>>4000341It's a wooly woo world out there.
>>4000285I replayed RF2 last year and Tides this year. The only one I didn't replay since ancient times is RF1 - maybe later this year...
>>4000271problem with og trilogy is games get incrementally better so there's little point in playing anything but 3
>>40004492 in particular has what is essentially a super long tutorial to pick who your mom is as well. I haven't played it recently enough to remember how much the QoL jump from 2 to 3 is, but on top of that I feel like it was pretty significant.
Sexo
>>4000449Maybe we'll get a remake?
>>4000378Indeed
>>4000479Personally I want a remake of 1. Finding out the incompetent female miniboss turns into a wife candidate long after I could do anything about it was kind of disappointing, but now I know. I also kind of just miss improving weapons and armor being more simple compared to the crazy shit you can do in 3 and 4.Never played 5 or Azuma though, so I'm probably getting ahead of myself
Do you have to do the combat stuff in 4 special or is it a key part of the game. Never really played any of the RFs beyond a tiny bit of one on 3ds years ago.
>>40008004 is the one on the 3DSAnd the combat is pretty required. You can stay in town and farm crops but you won't get very far without stuff from the world outside.I personally did forcibly extend a gap between act 1 and act 2 and basically just ground up crops/played "fantasy harvest moon" while I dated and got married but it's certainly not the intended way to play any of the Rune Factories
>>4000806Yeah it has been so long I couldn't remember if it had a fancy name. Shame. I'm not really into that kind of combat. Too old for that kind of stuff.
>>4000808Are you talking about "combat arts" or whatever the fuck they were called, or just fighting in general? Because the former is basically just magic that has an attack animation (so there's no reason you can't ignore it), but if the latter is a problem for you you're probably just better off playing harvest moon or story of seasons or whatever people do these days
>>4000809Well I saw the thread and remembered I had rf4s from a bundle and was curious how combat heavy it was. If its just you do it when you want to progress and its basic stuff and not grind heavy thats one thing vs "you gotta get to clvl200 to beat the omega boss so you can get corn seeds"
>>4000812Most of the absurd grinding only really exists for theoretical optional endless dungeon shit. So long as you keep up on your crafting to some extend the actual required combat isn't much iirc
>>4000817I appreciate the responses.
>>4000812I should've also mentioned that you can basically beat 90% of the game by taming monsters and using them along with NPCs in townI don't see why you couldn't just hang back and let them beat the monsters for you, especially on easy difficulty (though there are a few places where you'll have to fight alone but it's rare)
>>4000826oh thats kinda cool, nice. Thanks again. I saw that mentioned on the game page but didn't think they would be THAT good.
>>4000830There's actually some interesting stuff to it, like a hidden EV-like system (similar to pokemon) and a system where the gifts/food you give it will slowly increase it stats or give it status attacksAnd when you give them/your npc party members food, they will also get stat boosts for the day (the same ones you'd get if you ate it yourself, so for example, if you drank juice your magic would increase for a while) plus there's a few buffing spells/healing spells to help you manage it betterOne of the best starter pets you can get is the fairy in pic related, plus you can give her her own daily drop to boost her magic stat over time
My love, Dolce.
People say Azuma was like a new tides but it didn't feel that way at all
>>4000871There's a lot of similarities>two canon MCs that both exist concurrently and can marry>hands-off farming (tides uses monsters, goa uses villagers but improves on tides's system by letting you have control if you like)>heavy focus on combat>sky island exploring is just ocean island exploring but in the air>no portaits, uses the character models instead
>>4000878
Hit a wall at the puppet boss in the mansion in rune factory 4 special. Gonna have to grind some combat exp I guess. Fight isn't remotely hard just get one shotted by the random debris while trying to heal.Is there a way to eat/heal in menu and not unpaused?
>>4000940I remember that being one of the more annoying roadblocks in the game, but it was mostly because I usually would rush it to unlock the character sooner than later. iirc healing with actual potions is significantly faster than food, and then magic is still faster than eating at least, but I don't think there's any getting around having to do it outside of a menu.If you haven't bothered experimenting with improving equipment, you might find that gives a pretty significant boost that could help a lot.
>>4000943Interesting, I have no way to magically heal yet nor have they shown off or introduced item improving I don't think yet. Day 8, pico showed up during the bean festival so I figured I'd investigate. It said recommended 18 and I hit 18 during the dungeon so I wasn't too concerned. Oh whale. Weird plot, interesting game so far.
RF1 still has the only cast of characters that I really like. They feel a bit more like Harvest Moon characters. In the later games everyone is either overdesigned or too childlike or both.
>>4001036The story in 4 feels like some fever dream written by random choice out of a bucket so far and the main characters are all weird as fuck. >you are on an airship>*pulls card* and you are bringing maguffins>*pulls card* and now you lost your memory>*pulls card* and now you fell off the airship onto a dragon>*pulls card* btw you're a prince>*pulls card* syke not a prince>*pulls card* syke you are one again though>*pulls card* dude dragon is actually a lady
>>4001082idk, Venti always looked like a chick to me
>>4001117I thought it was a young boy dragon. But I was mostly joking on that one as its whatever. I just find it funny how fuckin random a setup it is instead of "you get a house in this village and do some farming and then shit happens"
>>4001117All I know is not using Venti's human form and letting you marry her was a crime
>>4001132
Timeline
>>4001360we gotta be a bit careful with the image limit, this board is slow and the last thread lasted for 9 months
shit sorry, didn't mean to quote, just meant it in general
>>4001367No biggie. You've got a point.
>>4001082It's total bullshit but they hit a good balance in 4 where there's so much bullshit tacked on from all sides that it maintains a perfect harmony of utter nonsense paired with deceptively complex gameplay. It is a game worth taking notes from.
>>4001506It loops back around from absurd to nonsense so many times that eventually you just go yeah sure ok.I just wonder if they were dead set against a normal intro or something like was it a company mandate?>NO, YOU CANT JUST GET A HOUSE IN THE TOWN BECAUSE YOU WANNA FARM OR SOMETHING WE NEED MORE!
>>4001549That's not that absurd when you're an earthmate. I just think they went too far off the deep end making earthmates kind of ridiculous at some point
>>4001553You don't find out you're an earthmate until halfway through the list of nonsense I threw out above kek
>>4001560I thought it was part of the reason they assumed you were a prince. I could have sworn Venti mentions it pretty early, but I haven't touched it in years
>>4001561That comes after the forced prince stuff. And then you turn a monster into a girl.
Cool, didn't realize there was a thread on this board for rune factory.I know the fields in RF4 recover when not in use, but do they recover when tilled but not seeded? Cleaning up all 5 fields every day is so time consuming
>>4001732As long as nothing's growing in them they should recover. To double check, buy a magnifying glass and test out an open plot vs a tilled plot. Better yet forge a watering can with the glass as one of the materials to inherit its effects.
>>4001735Ok I'll try that out, thanks anon. I assume it's the health stat I'm monitoring
>>4001732That's why I save every single wilted grass I can
I can't believe they killed Green in RF5
>>4002054what the fuck is that ugly bitch frowning about?
>>4002056Her fucked up bangs maybe?
>>4002056She's looking for a target.
my fairy wives...
>>4002061was talkin about the dour ass blue bitch bottom right
>>4002075That's more like one of these than a frown
>>4002085>t. rapist brown
>>4002093Whatever you're talking about is between you and brown people. This is just a matter of someone being blind to the lines curling upward on the edges on the blue fairy making some anime catface expression
>>4002102
>>4002107The coolest!
>>4002054The Green you rescued in 4 decided to stay with Lest/Frey forever
>>4002068Puppet/doll girl!
>>4000156>20 yearsI'm old enough to remember when they announced the first game...it was part of a project to inject new life into Harvest Moon. They announced Rune Factory for the DS and Innocent Life for the PSP at the same time. Obviously only one of them took off and became its own franchise. Can't believe it's been that long. I hate getting old.
>>4002200Me too. I always wanted to try Innocent Life and I even had a PSP but I could never actually find it in stores in my area. Couldn't find rf1 either, but when Rune Factory 2 was about to come out I was smart enough to have my mom preorder itI remember the guy at fucking gamestop look at me like I had two heads when I came to pick it up lmao
>>4002200>Can't believe it's been that long. I hate getting old.I still remember wanting to try out RF2 but being unable to because there wasn't an english translation yet. Time doesn't forgive anyone
>>4002191I like it when she grabs me and tosses in me in a box that gets stabbed repeatedly with swords
>>4002222Quads of truth. I'd let her perform a magic trick on me https://litter.catbox.moe/m13ay6.mp4
>>4002191I still haven't gone back and done this fight yet kekKinda killed my interest in the game.
>>4002200Played Innocent Life on the PS2 but never beat it. I remember it was kinda melancholic. Maybe I'll try to finish it someday.
Bilikens?
>>4000271Still features the best intro song alongside Frontier
>>4003449yeah but fry higher though
>>4003454Shame they removed it from the remaster. The intro songs from the first three RF games all reflect the vibes from early to mid 2000s music. It's very nostalgic.
I found something interesting yesterdayRune Factory Frontier and the Wii Harvest Moon games share some of the same models for the crops, with a few tweaksObviously they're fron the same publisher, but that was still interesting to me
>>4003936These days people would nitpick and complain that the developer is being "lazy". It was exactly this reuse of assets that allowed Neverland to release so many RF games in a short span of time.
>>4003936it was a common thing in older games. RF1-4 at least I remember constantly recycling old models. If they needed an extra boss we've got terrable, grimoire and whatever else sitting around so bring them in and slap it inside a dungeon.
>>4003961>>4003942Oh definitely, the only reason they were able to do so much with 4 is because it was built off of 3 games' worth of assets. More than just items and monsters, but maps as well. I understand that they had to move forward eventually but I really do miss those graphics.I was just a bit surprised to see some "cross pollination" between the two series.
i wanna cosplay her so byaddd
>>4004666T-Those digits!
>>4004666>>4004673even 4chang knows trannies are satanic
Show me RF6 alreadyI will not be denied
>>4004666I've seen some decent looking female cosplays by dudes, you just have to look like a normal human being and not a neckbeard landwhale first.
>>4004673mwehehe >:3c>>4004696>>4004706but i'm a petite grill
>>4004666my xiao wife>>4004730no grills on the internet. nope
>>>/v/741718785I didn't get a chance to roll.
>>4005454gratz!
>>4005468She'll be safe with me.
>>4005509What's up with big bros being overprotective of their little sisters?
>>4005627Their reactions please me.
So Trampoli became a tourist spot? Well thank you, Rosetta!
And this means Raguna didn't marry Mist, which also means...
>>4007242Yep, Tabatha is the canon girl. Sorry, but that's a FACT! Dark elves are just THAT superior.
>>4000156i lost all hope in this franchise after azuma it was pure 5/10 slop
Just about to start playing 3 again since it was on sale. That one didn't have the weird inherited trait shit with crafting that 4 did right? I feel like the only crafting thing it had that was a little complicated was just for staff special abilities
>>4007467I think you're right, it was just staves
>>4007287Wasn't it a step forward over 5?
>>4007493It definitely was
>>4007596So maybe 6 will be a step forward over Azuma and 4!
>>4007247Either way I just picked the fat one
>>4007735Fat? No such thing!
>>4007756Ruined. On a side note, I'm surprised they never did that gimmick again. Granted R3 has two bachelorettes that are probably future fatties, but it's not the same.
>>4007760every game that has a marriageable sainte coquille has a future fatty(so every one of them)
>>4007932Sure, but I was talking about one of the girl's notable quirk being she eats a lot and another's being she's lazy. I also always thought the Sainte Coquille thing was more of a guy only problem (so you could be dooming your male children)
>>4007932L-Lies!
>>4007946Tides shows that it's apparently unavoidable
>>4007952Just when you think Sofia couldn't be more of a worst girl
>>4007969I wonder if there's fanart of that...
>>40079324 and 5 didn't have Sainte Coquilles right?
>>4008120Yeah, true. 4 did have Porcoline but despite his constant marriage proposals, his heart is only for his dead elf waifu
All RF games are on sale right now, btw
>>4010491I wonder if 5's cheap enough to warrant a buy with 0 expectations of it being any better than mehand maybe I'll make a texture mod for it too, one day. After Animal Parade and RF Frontier, at least
>>4010516I think it's worth it. While a step down from RF4 it's not really a bad game after the fixes. The PC version removes most of the slowdowns too. I would say the only real problem I still have with it is how long days are, that's the real deal killer. If you're worried about the price just pirate it, I got it from rin.ru and it worked perfectly.
If my monsters love me why do they chase after me and mess me up whenever I want to pick up their materials/harvest my crops?
>>4010623In which game?
>>4010625Oh wait, I misread what you meant, I thought they were actually attacking you, not crowding youlol nevermind
I'm always torn between making a giant monster barn collection that covers as many different types or saying fuck all that and just only having woollies, cows, bees and chickens.
>>4010632>here's my barn of cute woolies>and over there I keep the walking calamities - terrable, aquaticus, and firesome
>>4010632I just pick what I like+the essentials. I like the fairies too (not just the elemental ones of course)
>>4010632Comfy...
>>4010632I always go for as much variety as I can get and then if I have any space left over I either double up on the best monster producers or I leave those spots for cool monsters.
>>4007756My wife
>>4010884Congrats anon!
>SEA hours>/v/ thread diesShame.
>>4011318force too many threads for a ded series and you run out of things to post other than dolce pics
>>4011400>ded seriesBut the last game was released one year ago.
>>4011318Damn, I missed a thread?
>>4011439You could be forgiven for missing it. Rune Factory was nowhere in the OP.
I almost forgot how good getting an upgraded hammer was in rf1I might be able to afford the house at this rate!
>>4012871I'm also playing it right now, just beat the first boss. At first it was kinda weird getting used to how things work in the first game, but once you do it's pretty fun.
>>4012888Also look at my trips!
>>4012888Yeah, I just got into Toros cave myself. I rushed a silver hammer and I'm glad I did; mining with the charged hammer strike in Toros cave gives you sapphires of varying levels (so 700 gold times whatever level) and I got really lucky with a haul that included a level 11 sapphire and went from 27k to 79k
>>4012898Wow, I barely got 1k, kek. It's gonna be a long ride to get a big house.
>>4012871Deeply repressed memories of mining silver are rushing back to me
>>4012907strawberries may help too, they're regrowing and sell for 200 gold a pop which is crazy, profit-wise, for something that will grow forever in the first cave
>>4012918I've planted some, but the watering can on earlier levels takes a looooong time to water all the crops, ugh.
>>4012934I know that feel, it hasn't rained once in my entire first spring, and I don't feel like resetting for rain to upgrade my watering can. I've finally got my first axe upgrade, so I forsee a lot of logging and mining in my future until I can make the forge and finally upgrade my watering can instantly.
Taking one request, preferably a bachelorette. RAINBOW!
It's okay for me to evict villagers that are both timid and worrywart and big eater, right? I-it was feudal Japan and lives were cheap... r-right?
>>4013302It's fine, they just go back to the capital
>>4013202I'm surprised nobody's taken you up on your offer yet
Do I start with RF 1 and 2, or can I just skip straight to the 3 remaster - onwardsPlaying these on switch seems comfy so I’m inclined to just go with what’s been ported
>>4013424>Do I start with RF 1 and 2, or can I just skip straight to the 3 remaster - onwardsYou can start with the 3 remaster just fine. It or 4 are what most people would recommend and are probably the most popular.
>>4013202My waifu
>>4011401It wasn't very good...
>>4013758It did what it set out to be, ie Oceans 2
>>4013758I thought it was good, I had fun with it.
>>4013758It's good for recovering Genshin addicts like I am.Like shit, 800 bucks at least for a maximum powered waifu is the norm there. And none of them came with bikinis!
it is summer 13, year 1 in rune factory 1my farming level is now 48 and I still refuse to upgrade my basic watering can
>>4014006Not like you need farming to get money in RF1 anyway, mining and selling high level ores will make you rich so fast you barely need to play after summer.
>>4014007I knowI'm doing it for energy and for the love of leveling crops until I get 2000 wood
didn't know there's an RF thread somewhere, I remember just spamming gust in RF3 whenever I walk/boss fight cause its so quick and the I frames are stupidly busted
>>4014016It's a fascinating series of games. Sometimes it's a Bokumono game set in an isekai harem anime (RF3), sometimes it's a Unity asset flip (RF5), and sometimes it's a Genshinslop (GoA).
>>4014022I haven't touched those last two because the little I saw didn't interest me, but it sounds like they're pretty much the odd ones out. I haven't played Oceans, but 1-4 and frontier are pretty much all the same aside from differences in stuff like skill caps, QoL, equipment stats, and polish aside from a few gimmicks here and there.
>>4014045>I haven't played OceansIt's never too late, anon!
Rune Factory 4 was the best.
>>4014058Replaying 3 I'm kind of finding I liked that one the best. Some of the added complication in 4 just got a little annoying to me.
>>4014122I might agree, but being able to craft multiple items at once is just too good.
>>4014214That is a convenience I miss, but I still think the upsides outweigh the downs Also as a side note, maybe I just don't remember the details and it becomes clear later, but was one of Micah's parents just a fucking sheep because it's not like there's a single other werewooly out there.
>>4014216Just like when thinking about where catgirls first came from it's best not to think about it too much. I'm assuming he was some special golden wooly that could talk. The transforming thing is seemingly something that only Micah can do because he's half and has the belt. Now that I think about it does Raven have a belt or something too?
>>4014263I mean, we get the fox people later on who can transform too so it might just be a thing
>>4014263Don't all 4 guardians in RF4 able to transform at will too? All boss fights with them I saw were the MC turning them from monster back into people. I've never played it since the whole "you're bisexual by default and you can't opt out of it because our market share is all fujoshis lmao" thing put me off.
>>4014327then you're fucking stupid because that's not in 4
Rock went from useless in RF1-3 to a resource I'm struggling to gather in GoA.My mining skill is so high that mineral deposits just yields me silvers and bronzes. Can't buy them from Takumi either. You guys know any good source for it?
>>4014405It's been a while, but I would stalk the traveling materials trader and go down to the oni realm. Someone said wisps (those night spirits) drop them so if you tame some of those you'll get passive rocks.
I'm glad I waited a year for discounted DLC.
>>4014900Ugh, that looks ugly. Is it at least fun?
>>4015008I liked it, it's more combat focused thoughsort of like tides, including the 2 MCs and the island traveling stuff
>A De-Saint Coquille, a known elf nation ally>Blonde>Does that Bravo thing that I hateMauro is totally at least half an elf, isn't he.
>>4015667>porcoline had an elf waifu>mauro has porco's airship from 4no I think you're definitely onto something
>>4015008The graphics are par for the course if you don't have 10000$ PC or if you're a Nintendofag like I am. Minako Iwasaki getting booted sucks, which is why I only bothered with it on sale. It is a lot of fun and the goddesses are a bunch of lovable dorks. Iroha is the only miss so far writing-wise. Maybe I should give Tides of Destiny a try since I'm cool with RF spin-offs.
>>4015955>Maybe I should give Tides of Destiny a tryYes, you should
>>4015987Alright, what kinda emulator I'm gonna need for it? Is the rom still available online?
>>4016035You can either use dolphin or the ps3 emulatorProbably easier to use dolphin to be honest
>>4016035I played it on RPCS3, works like a charm. Yes, there are the english, japanese and undub versions available for the ps3 edition.
>>4013450DELIVERY!!Sorry for the wait, I was going for a vibe of a painting you'd see hanging from a de Sainte-Coquille's manor. I can see how she is related to Sofia! Maybe I should give Tides of Destiny a try! Until next time, remember: art requires sacrifices!
>>4016671Wow, thanks anon! Really like how cute you made her face to look, and you even included her favorite teardrop as well! I could see it hanging on a wall in their mansion. Nice job anon, I hope you had fun drawing her :)
>>4016671Good job anon, very cute and fancy.
>>4016671Pretty sweet.
>>4016671Cute work!
Finished replaying RF3 I married Raven again
>>4017823Personally I keep getting distracted, so I've barely gotten started on the autumn dungeon.
>>4017882Distracted by whom?
>>4017976Other games and life mostly. I was favoring Karina if that's what you mean, but I could see myself picking Daria for a second time too
>>4017823I just finished it for the first time and I also married Raven.
>>4017981>>4018049I thought few people married Daria, but I guess she has quite a few fans. Raven seems to be the most popular one, followed by maybe Sofia? I know few people like Shara.
>>4018050Sofia's quirk is way too annoying for me to tolerate more than I have to.
>>4018050I wonder when the popularity poll results will come out. Maybe in August, on the anniversary
>>4018052I *hate* you anon!>>4018061>Maybe in August, on the anniversaryVery likely. I will be disappointed if Azuma and 5 characters appear at the top instead of 4 and previous characters.
>>4018068Azuma, maybe5, highly doubt it
speaking of rf3, getting 100% completion is so fucking tedious i dont get how anyone could enjoy shipping all the itemsat least in rf4 iirc it tells you if youve already shipped the item or noti ended up just resorting to using cheat engine and its still tedious as hellanyway i married raven too. im such a sucker for these types
>>4018082>RavenHave some uh, spaghetti!
>>4018082Personally I'm so much of a nerd that getting gold trophy at bean throwing festival is harder for me than 100%ing the shipped items. God how did people even manage to do it without controllers or real DS buttons I wonder.
>>4018050Even when I was a kid I liked RF3 so much I remembered starting over 10 times to marry all bachelorettes each, but Daria is just about the best kind of tomboy among all of them, even when Carmen is *right there*. Marge could never.
>>4018242>starting over 10 times to marry all bachelorettes eachDid you manage to do it?
>>4018677Well, yeah, it's not hard since I was a kid back then and in every save file I can just try out different weapons on top of different wives (they got like what, 7 weapon types, 8 if you count transform mode as "melee").
>>4018830Based little chad building his harem since 2010
The Rune Factory 1 opening on the DS is pretty crunchy.
>>4019220Yeah, that was the best they could do back then, and even then I remember being wowed by Rune Factory 1/2 in the first place because the characters were 3D and not pre-rendered spritesIf you're starting it for the first time, here's my protip to you: rush that level 2 hammer so money never becomes a problem ever again.
>>4019317Okay, will do.
>>4019336Also marry best waifu
>>4019339I still find it hilarious that the English dub gave the dark skinned maid elf a Jamaican VA
>>4019750It certainly had an effect on how I remember the character, but iirc a few of the dub voices for RF1 and 2 were fucking weird
>>4019750I was not expecting to hear that voice come out of her mouth.
I've never played a runescape game should i try one out
>>4019778Natsume used random VAs but also random family members for the 1+2 dub and didn't even put them in the credits so some of them are just unknownHowever, Alicia from 2's English voice fits her appearance more accurately than the squeaky voice that the Japanese usedhttps://youtu.be/ZSBtaJw1k5Abut then in the same game, you get Jake who got absolutely butchered in Englishhttps://youtu.be/uQdpaWd8Rvk
>>4019911I feel like they didn't understand the assignment. Alicia is giving me Bible Black flashbacks and Jake sounds like barks you'd hear in Baldur's Gate
>>4019902Rune...scape?
>>4019902I played a little bit of it in the mid/late 2000s and it was okay. If you mean Rune Factory just start with 3 or 4.
Is RF4S worth getting?its currently £3.74 on sale xbox (yes I'm a poor consolefag)never played Rune Factory before
>>4020262Yes, it's considered the best one.
>>4000156FRY HIGHEEEEER AND HIGHEEEEEER
The first Rune Factory has a bit of a grittier/lonesome feeling so far compared to some of the later ones with mechanical portals (normally monsters are apparently summoned by mages), actual death in what are dungeons, a sleeping bag and planting Rune Factories for future expeditions. It feels more like Harvest Moon too. Can anyone confirm that you don't have to water a completed Rune Factory with matured crops like I read here because if that's the case I see no reason not to plant these all over the dungeons instead of just a few in whatever dungeon I'm currently conquering. https://www.fogu.com/hm/rune_factory/basics/runepoints.php
>>4020672Once they're fully grown you don't have to water them anymore, and every day they will produce a rune. I've planted some strawberries in the first cave and I collect them every day.
>>4020672One thing to be aware of is that during summer tornadoes can ruin your farm field, but the dungeon crops will be safe. During winter everything withers away except what's inside the dungeons.
>>4020672You do not
>>4020262The bachelorettes leave a whole lot to be desired but the combat mechanic is just about the deepest this series has ever gotten, along with its farming mechanics too. Get it if you like Harvest Moon/Bokumono for its farming parts.
>>4020409I'd take cringe struggling Japanese singer localizing their official soundtrack songs to try to break into the American gamer market over Vtumors and Youtubers nobody cares about making original songs for JRPG games like now any time.
>>4020681>>4020684>>4020710Sweet and thanks for the tip.
14th anniversary of RF4 today.
>>4020728>Vtumors and Youtubers nobody cares about making original songs for JRPG games like nowWait, is that a thing now? I'm honestly not paying attention to what's happening currently.
>>4020773H-Holding hands even...
>>4020773why
If you manage to finish the summer treasure hunt festival quickly, you get to pick 500 lumber if you're in need. I chose the empty bottle since I had already upgraded my house.
>>4020262ite I bought it and just defeated butterfly girl
>people who made RF 1-4+Frontier+Oceans went away to Slop Enix to make Harvestella>Marvelous has a team of entirely new people in charge of GoA and RF6 named "Team Hide"Damn. Hope the release bonus was worth it for them.
>>4020972tbf Rune Factory is already an established brand so they had that going for the new team
>>4020968Having fun?
>>4020991its alright will play again soon but I can only play vidya in short bursts these days
>>4020961Is there a limit to the amount of empty bottles you can get?
>>4021011No idea. I currently have 3.one can be found by inspecting a box in the basement of Bianca's mansion
>>4021011One in Mist's house, one in Bianca's basement, one fron the treasure festival, one from the egg festival
>>4021016>>4021048>In the mansion basement I see. That did sem like a suspicious location.
>>4020972How was Harvestella anyway? It looked a little too Square Enix for a farming game for my tastes
>>4021281It was a Rune Factory game without the family-building, and farm-building, and even community-building. It was a Rune Factory game with nothing.
>>4021356>without the farm-building>without the community buildingI could take or leave the children aspect since it always kind of fucks with my sense of time progression with how they skip around that, but what does that even mean? You don't decide how you plant crops or have holidays/personal events with characters?
>>4021356A Rune Factory game with nothing?https://youtu.be/BG7273yDpdA
>>4021360Yeah, pretty much. No festivals, no inviting new NPCs to your neck of the woods, no gifting people things to make them nicer to you because you're "heckin perpetuating le cycle of violence" or whatever. The farm where you grow things isn't yours and without spoiling stuff--you left later on, It's more of a Final Fantasy game aping Rune Factory's combat and monster taming mechanics. Too fast paced for FF fans and too uncomfortable for RF fans.
>>4021281Mediocre. Was apparently originally imagined as a turn-based RPG before getting SE'd into an action one. I dropped it during the last arc. There's marriage but it is the definition of tacked on, no dating, postgame only, you can marry the old man or the horse. It's a generic ARPG with a shallow farming system that you have to engage with to supply your healing items but is unrewarding past that. The story was amusing sometimes, but not enough to get me to finish the game. A slog.Looks nice, though.
*jumps off the island after you and dies*
>>4020968just gotta beat boss in the water dungeon now but kinda pissed i accidently built a second monster barn
>>4021684Even when I'm barely recruiting monsters, I usually want 2 of each of the major production ones like cows, sheep, chickens, and maybe something making honey. Two monster barns is hardly a waste.
>>4021684Mever underestimate the economic power of 4 woolys and working their wool into yarn then handknit hats. Small income stream on top of constant skill leveling every day is good for early game.
There's a thread on /v/ in case anyone is interested.
>>4021937There's always a thread on /v/ but usually it dies very quickly.
>>4021684just defeated horse boss in the water ruinsfeel like I'm getting into the swing of things now
>>4022364I find that it starts clicking once you start forming an itinerary of things to do in your head.
Gozuki and Mezuki's kicking my ass, dang. The AI for your teammates kept making them jump into the bosses' rush attacks, I might have to overlevel just to not babysit Kai.

>>4024859So who's your waifu so far?
>>4024864Really?
>>4024864I havent in even unlocked bringing companions yet outside of tamed monsters. on like day 23 of the first season i think>>4024896honestly undecided atm maybe margaret
>>4025109Yes, reallyYou take him to that sign that says there's something unusual nearby (not exact words but same idea) in the Yokmir cave and he opens up a shortcut to a chest that has 3 bronze and 1 silver, pretty much the first silver you can get
>Have 5 5x5 plots in Spring Village>Half a plot withers if I so much as to skip manually watering for a day despite allocating 10 villagers to farmingI hate villagers so much it's unreal. Is there any site that calculates how many plots an NPC can work for a day in relation to their work output?
>>4025122>>4024859at a road block atm with the enemies being too tank so i am grinding a bit and trying to level my crafting and forging to get better equipment.still havent got the charm back yet
>>4025978At least ask forte to come with you (select BTW when you speak to her) because you can equip her with decent equipment and she will help
>>4026008>(select BTW when you speak to her)I never noticed thisI ve been soloing everything so faralso I'm at the tree boss now and left, I'll defeat him soon
>>4026321Taking people with you in certain dungeons can net you dialogueUnfortunately you missed Forte and Margaret's Obsidian Manor mini-event
>>4025978Just look up recipes online for grinding your skill and not rely on eating breads. No shame in that.
>>4025188Neat
>>4025391It's not really something you can punch into a calculator, the location of the fields matter (how far is it from their homes/spawn point) plus there's also the lunch break that you have to consider. If the only place to eat is far away, they'll spend more time walking to lunch
>>4026469You might be onto something. Maybe what they do once they get onto the field is automated, but they might have actually programmed villagers to be out and about individually and not despawn once you left....Probably explains why I never encountered same problem in Autumn and Winter village since in Autumn village all dev zones are downhill from Yachiyo's while in Winter village I chose to put my plots in front of permafrost izakaya.
Did I fuck up? Is Kaguya GONE gone or would they introduce a plot where you have to take her back from afterlife itself like the goddess Izanami? If it's the former, kudos to Marvelous for making player choices affect the game in a major way again.
>>4026821she is dead jim
>>4026821Damn, couldn't even pay 1000 gold?
>>4026821> kudosNah, only if you had to sacrifice something important in exchange. Say, another character or the entire village.
>>4026880I am, in fact, sacrificing an entire bonding questline, on top of an equipment recipe, and a unique dish recipe I could've cooked together with her this way. This is a bigger handicap than apparently subbing half your soul with 1000 gold. One million I could understand, but damn, that's cheap for basically selling out Woolby.
>>4027421I think what he meant was you don't have to sacrifice enough to save Subaru/Kaguya. I think they actually nerfed it even more post-release
>>4027426Yeah, they should make saving Subaru/Kaguya look cheap at first but it ticked off Woolby a great deal and after you beat Clarice he basically permakills her. It would at least make the choices equal.
>>4026398yeah made tree boss really easyam i supposed to find the rune spheres now or rescue the other guardian in that tower place or whatever next to the ghost mansion?
>>4027576I think you can grab two rune spheres nowYou've probably at least seen one already and asked yourself "wtf is that thing"
>>4027612yh i know the one in the water ruinjust saying does it matter if i do that do what venti asked and go to the other place first
>>4027685I think it's blocked off until after the third rune sphere, which isn't as straightforward as the other two and opens up a huge area (that you aren't "supposed" to explore the entirety of but you can if you want or are able to actually survive it lol)
>>4027691
The trees having literally no fucking textures to them just a fucking blender shit log is super fucking ugly but somehow still better looking then rf5
>>4028512Small indie developer, purease understand desu
This is running until August 12. That means they'll likely reveal whatever it is that they're cooking during the final week of August.>Importantly, this is not a competition. This is merely a way for fans to gather, express their fandom, and celebrate these milestone anniversaries through a commemorative video. Plus, you know, the development teams for both franchises will get to see just how much their work has meant to everyone around the world. >>We’ve set up two submission forms – one each for STORY OF SEASONS and Rune Factory – for you to send us short videos, photos, voice notes, etc. about why these games are so important to you. We plan to then take those submissions and compile them into a video we’ll be sharing on our channels at a later date. >>We’ll be accepting submissions from July 27, 2026 through August 12, 2026 at 6PM PT. You can submit to one or both; it’s entirely up to you. Just know that we’ll only accept submissions provided through these forms. Additional details are available on the individual forms. There was a thread on /v/ today and an anon kindly posted an interview with the writer of RF3 and RF4 (who's working on Farnia now) if anyone's interested.https://genkidamascoolinterview.blogspot.com/2026/07/14-years-of-rune-factory.html
>>4029240Thanks. I missed that thread. >I believe humor and comedy are very important elements. After all, being “fun” is what matters most in a game. “Making people laugh” is “being fun.”Fun? What nonsense.
>>4029739Don't you guys always talk about how best girl Mist is and half of that argument is just "she says so much absurd funny stuff"?I sure as hell would rather play an RF game about rizzing up the village idiot with big naturals over one about leading a proletariat revolution or whatever.
>>4029950I'm joking. It's just think it's too much fun to poke fun at pic related quote, but I thought just quoting it would be too on-the-nose.
In RF1 upgrading your house takes quite a few days and in the meantime an incomplete version of your new home can be explored. I mean, it's nothing special but it's still a nice touch.Later RFs just magically upgrade your house in the same day, which is convenient but feels less rewarding, in a way.
>>4030123I just started upgrading my house too and thought that was really cool as well.
>>4030749>>4030123I'm just glad that you don't have to wait for Ivan to come around to get the forge+etc
>>4028564I mean they kind of are a small dev now aren't they? Unless GoA sold well enough for them to get some more dudes in to work on RF6, otherwise the bankruptcy fucked them hard and it showed in RF5
>>4030951GoA and Grand Bazaar were the only reasons Marvelous made any money last year, so I guess they both sold pretty well. Might be too late to really affect 6 (6 and GoA were announced at the same time after all) but I have optimistic hopes
>>4030840I was actually dreading that. I didn't want to wait another month until I could start crafting. Now I just need to deal with my shelves being too small.
>>4000156I was thinking of either buying Rune Factory 4 Special on my Switch 2 or Elin on Steam. What do you recommend anons?
>>4031475Go for RF4 Special. Easily clears 100 hours for your money since it's one of the most combat-focused title in this series.
>>4031475I'd wait until Elin is actually done, as an owner of both
rune factory 3 is the only good one
>>4031677I liked 4 still, but the bachelorette selection is worse and I think there's just a little too much bullshit you can do with crafting. I also just sort of like most of the skills having a max at 100 more since I like to see them more as a goal (and it incentivizes me to use different weapons and focus on other areas) rather than something that stretches to infinity. 3 is definitely my favorite out of them.
If Runeys are meant to pretty much be unique to Trampoli, why do they show up in Sharance and Selphia? I wanted to draw Subaru with them and I'm not sure if they even exist in Azuma.
>>4032603Not everyone can see them, so maybe Raguna couldn't see them prior to Frontier/his second brain damage
>>4032610>Not everyone can see themCharacters in RF4 can comment on them like they do the weather. It's random, but it happens.
>>4032603I guess they just did really well in Trampoli and spread? So long as I don't need to waste time vacuuming them out of the sky and rearranging them or crack my wii specifically to avoid ever dealing with that tedious bullshit I'm happy

>>4033250Say what you will about gachas, but things like Azur Promilia might be going to eat into the sales of RF6 in the future unless Marvelous make its own gacha or differentiate that title from GoA's gameplay loop, and the latter might just be asking too much.
>>4033848>Say what you will about gachas, but things like Azur Promilia might be going to eat into the sales of RF6 in the futureSorry anon, but LOL.If you really think some chinese slop with generic characters has the same audience as RF you're seriously deluded.
>>4033856How would a gacha farming sim work anyway? Unless you're replacing the fucking monster barn with random women you summon there's a fixed cast. I'd just assume it would have predatory other shit to get people to spend money
>>4033991There's a few examples of """""cozy""""" gacha/farm sim games and the gacha is in the clothes and furniture sets (and they're crazy predatory)One such example is Heartopia
>>4033856>>4033848Xaio > Agnes > Terara > The restI'm never going to hope a farming game fails, but anyone believing a Nexon Korea game won't be ball busting abusive with microtransactions is retarded at best, I doubt it will eat much of the traditional farming game playerbase. Manjuu isn't exactly known for their quality either.
>>4034016That's one genre I could never understand being used in a format like that. I don't really care for the aesthetic of it in general, but at that point I'd just play around with Stardew Valley mods or some shit
>>4033856The gachas would not make a cent off people like you and me, sure enough because we know better. But what if chinese slop with generic characters is everything you have and know? Because that's the situation with zoomers and gen alpha gamers. We can't just assume the series can chug along off (let's not kid ourselves) a fanbase of all 30-somethings.
>>4034118I get your point anon, but I think you're being a little too pessimistic about those zoomers and alphas. Stardew Valley for instance, has managed to become very popular with players of virtually all generations. Not to mention younger people have become more and more interested in games that were released way before they were even born. In a world full of gacha, it's the non-gacha games that will stand out.
>>4027576started upgrading my stuff and leveling my skills to use the good shit and enemies in the autumn area are a lot easier now but still working on before properly doing the lava cave for the rune sphere. most annoying part is probably just getting more wood and stone
>>4034469You want more wood and stone? I've got a protip for youKeep exploring the autumn area until you find a house, to the south of the house is the autumn farming fields. A ton of wood spawns there every day.And I'm not sure how much of a spoiler you want here, but for the stone there is a little mini-winter area whose entrance path hides behind trees in the autumn area. There in the winter fields, a shitton of stones spawn. Now what you do next is invest in two lumber/stone boxes and carry them to those fields and just chop and toss so your inventory isn't clogged with wood and stone.
>>4034469I think you can buy stone or wood from an NPC sometimes if you get lucky.
First time I ever audibly cringed playing a Rune Factory. Wtf was that rock instrumental lmfao.I had to turn BGM off and now the credit's rolling in silence. At least have some decency and make Dragon's Tomb BGM a Japanese folk rock arrangement or something. That genre's huge on youtube.
>>4034685Well, to be fair, Viatrea came from Adonea
>>4035130https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwA9WkXQ8GwI'm pretty sure this BGM in particular was reused in 3 and 4 every time you fight Terrable. If the Dragon's Tomb was meant to feel alien and foreign (the design is very much a Meiji Period-inspired one same as the Underworld IMO) what's stopping them from remastering if not covering previous titles' BGMs that older fans would catch onto while not sounding like shit? Were the staff they booted during the bankruptcy somehow holding onto the copyright for BGMs they composed or something?
>>4034469beat the lava ruin havent fully explored it now just gotta do the tower place also remembered bring follwers>>4034477>>4034556thanks
>>4035988There's a part of the tower where you'll have to go aloneBut the game will tell you though so don't worry
