Deltatraveler got a rebrand recently. Think it'll be any good, or will it just be more of the same?
Are you making a fangame? Post progress.

While it's very impressive that you made that song, I'm afraid Toby already beat you to the punch by making that song first and releasing it in chapters 3 and 4 a little over a year ago now.

>But if the consequences of keeping the current system in place aren't enough to convince her, what would?
Maybe time or failing at her goal, but since failure means death there's not much room for her to change her ideals, maybe she'll tell you her sad backstory as her life ends.
>Does she truly care for the people she seeks to save, or is she more loyal to her ideals than to actually doing any good in the world?
Her main goal was always to prove the system wrong, saving others in the process is a bonus, like I said she's not the most moral person , she just draws a line when it comes to harming so many innocents and specially children.
>I can't imagine she'd be willing to let someone stand in her way over something like this, and I couldn't stand by and let her throw the fate of the world in the trash over her ideals.
Yeah, it has to be this way, if neither of you is going to back down.

>Maybe time or failing at her goal, but since failure means death there's not much room for her to change her ideals, maybe she'll tell you her sad backstory as her life ends.
If time is an option, she could always just wait.
Or be made to wait, maybe I could just incapacitate her instead of killing her outright, though I don't think she'd be too happy about that.
>Her main goal was always to prove the system wrong, saving others in the process is a bonus, like I said she's not the most moral person , she just draws a line when it comes to harming so many innocents and specially children.
I think she's drawing the line too short. Even if she saves a handful of kids in the short term, she's effectively ensuring the deaths of countless more in the long term, so her ideals are working against her here.
>Yeah, it has to be this way, if neither of you is going to back down.
Shame. I'd certainly like not to have to kill her, but if she's not giving me a choice, I guess I'd do what I have to.

Flat colors are done, for both versions, all that remains now is the shading.
I think her eye turned out alright, but my monitor is so fucked that the different sides of her iris look like two different shades of orange, though I know that should just be on my end.
Anyway, hoping to have this done either later today, or at least in time for a thread on Saturday, but shading's always a chore.
The image itself is fairly basic, but hopefully it will be worth the wait.

DR!Oldentale takes place in the same time frame as Deltarune, he would be getting drafted to a different war, maybe Vietnam.
>>
>>4024667
Deltarune canonically takes place in 202X though

And Oldentale characters are dead in UT which DR is based off of
>>
>>4024667
I don't think Racter would be drafted in Oldenrune, or whatever you'd call it. major part of Deltarune's lore, is that there is no history of war hanging over everyone's head. Sure there probably still have been wars, but thematically speaking, it wouldn't make sense for the main characters to be a part of them, especially if their someone conflict averse like Racter.

>>4024678
The timeline is different in DR, things are more compressed and character's ages are not evenly shifted around.
>>
>>4024703
>ages are not evenly shifted around
Most of them are slightly older than their UT selves, is there an example of the opposite (I don't remember myself)?
>>
>>4024710
Asriel isn't over 100 years old, and Kris is some weird combination of Chara and Frisk, yet he's also not over 100. Gerson and Asgore are around the same age in Undertale, but I highly doubt there's any conditional magic immortality in Deltarune to explain Asgore not being old as shit if he's that age, so he and Toriel are probably a lot younger in the DR universe.
>>
>>4024744
>Asriel isn't 100 years old
Because boss monsters age are taken from their bio-age rather time-age
>Kris is some weird combination of Chara and Frisk
They are likely just an unrelated human since they (99%) had a cyan soul, and Chara/Frisk had a red one

>>
>>4024762
>Because boss monsters age are taken from their bio-age rather time-age
Or there isn't any kind of hard rule for these things and Toby just did it based on what he wanted the characters to be doing in the story. Bio age seems like way too hard and specific of a rule for Toby's writing.

>(99%) had a cyan soul
That theory is nowhere near proven. Not only does it lack evidence, but the preponderance of evidence still points towards the red soul, and him being a mashup of Frisk and Chara in terms of equivalence.

Good morning/afternoon Anon.
>I would like some explanation by,what you meant with your first point. I realize it was very info dump-y, sadly with what I wanted to write, there was no way in my mind to avoid that.
what I'm saying is that, it feels like she's covering all of the information an outside observer might want to know about the situation, rather than what she'd tell to some people who are apparently slightly familiar with her and she's telling a tale but terrible and true. She starts coming across like a history book rather than a person sharing her experience, or like a teacher who's prompting the class to speak up and give answers. I know you said you felt like there was no way to avoid that, but I think that comes from you wanting to give us the readers all the information to make when and where she came from make sense, rather than cutting out information that she might think "I don't need to say this for the story to make sense" or "I can kind of brush up on this for it to make sense"
like for instance the whole doctor thing, you don't have to skip that, but a lot of it makes sense by association to all the other things she tells us, but we spend a lot of time dwelling on the fact that the doctors are overwhelmed and that there was no solution to that, but I think that things like the suicide missions, the fact that the ooze functions as terrible parasites, and what happens to Silver and lily you get enough information where instead of having a significant back and forth over the doctors themselves, you can infer it with the other stuff and instead only touch on it lightly, letting the rest of what happened imply the worst.
kind of hit the audience with an "We lost some good doctors to that sick bastards schemes. people that just wanted to save lives, there was no way to know who was infected and who was just injured with that many wounded."
>>
>>4024781
I don't rotate these two in my head as much as I do for canon but it's cute enough to save an occasional picture
>>4024784
>spoiler
I honestly think that those two wouldn't HATE hate each other, but would have the most difficult time tolerating each other in the same space for long. and it's more fun and interesting if the animosity goes both ways instead of the surface level angle of Cole being a passive outsider caught in Kris's humanity complex.
>>
>>4024789
the suicide missions basically already tell us how desperate things were. I know the suicide missions were told to us afterwards, but by moving some things around I think you can cut down on some other parts just because stuff like that makes it clear to us how terrible the situation was without having to spell out the detailed logistics of war triage.
>About Jackie being formal or not, that's on me
I think the easiest change is, she should use contractions more if she's not a formal speaker. She did a lot of "you are"s and "you could/would" instead of "you're" and "You'd" which makes her sound formal and distant, like Data from star trek if you've seen TNG. he speaks in a stilted way on purpose and it comes across as 'mechanical'. Undyne did this as well.

>I'm not sure what you mean by Martlet, I get the feeling a word or two was left out there, or you meant to aay she was stiff like Undyne felt at times?
sorry I was saying that during the little dialogue you gave Martlet, she felt pretty natural in how she was talking. Martlet has this goofy way of speaking like her uncertainty/birdbrained nature is working it's way into what she's saying and doing, and for the few lines she had It felt right. Undyne and jackie were really the only ones that felt overly formal. Starlo felt natural since he spoke in his more loose wild east manner.
>as well as the heavy topic I felt wouldn't make sense if she constantly shouted or called people punks there.
oh yeah for sure, I didn't expect her to start doing that. It would be really tone deaf of her and while I think she CAN be tone deaf at times, I don't think she'd do that here other than maybe in the beginning (and she did call Jackie a punk I think at the start which was fitting).
Note, Undyne doesn't turn every word into a contraction that she possibly can, but look at this line of hers
"* You're really eager to
die, aren't you?"
and then read it back if she said
"You are really eager to die, are you not?"
>>
>>4024795
>>4024789
>Overall, I'm happy that yiu found this neat and I hope this was a good snippet into my oc stuff, even if it was a bit rough around the edges.
I did think it was interesting, and I can tell you've put a lot of thought into the setting Jackie comes from. Like I said that world would honestly be a lot of fun to run a campaign in I think
I also mean it when I say that it's much much smoother than when you first started writing. Your improvements are very clearly noticeable and I hope that I don't come across as nitpicking things apart. I think it's relevant enough to the threads that there's nothing wrong with you posting it, even if our boy Clover is only around at the start, Starlo was an active participant in the conversation, and it was neat that you picked Ace to have him be a part of things.

sure I can see them not hating eachother, but I can't see kris pushing cole against a locker to make out.
I do like some of the greens where Cole has antagonized kris lightly like how he gave kris a hard time for how big of a deal he made of taking the soul out.
>>
>>4024774
What? I don't get it, could you explain it?>>4024772
Yeah it very well could be just Toby doing how he wants to, but we have to go off of something.
>Nowhere near proven
The majority of evidence doesn't point to the red soul being Kris's original soul? Why is Kris cyan, why is the color when choosing options in the settings cyan, why does aqua represent Kris.
And there is evidence disproving red original soul like Kris being bad at flirting until he gets the red soul. (Red soul trait is Love). And Kris only gets (You) since chapter 1.

What is the evidence for the red soul being the original soul (genuinely want to know)?
>>
>>4024802
>but I can't see kris pushing cole against a locker to make out.
the poster child of avoidant personality disorder could never be so straightforward
>>
>>4024817
>but we have to go off of something.
We should go off what makes for the best story.

>Why is Kris cyan
Why is he yellow? Why is Frisk yellow? Skin color =/= soul color

> why does aqua represent Kris
There's an argument to be made for all the souls representing Kris in some way, as much as I hate to say it.
>like Kris being bad at flirting until he gets the red soul.
Where'd you get that from?

>Red soul trait is Love
According to what? The only outright description of its trait I remember is BALL GAME, which would be more like player soul or main character soul than LOVE.

>why are the options cyan
They aren't? I just checked and they don't even have a highlight color at all.

>What is the evidence for the red soul being the original soul
Him being extremely similar to Frisk and Chara and serving the same role of player character.
>>
>>4024830
>We should go off what makes for the best story
True, but it's good when it's also canon compliant

>Why is he yellow
Because humans are not soul colored in the LW, like they are in the DW.
>Where'd you get that from
Closet scene in chapter 4 with Noelle and Susie talking about Kris
>According to what?
Protagonism isn't really a soul trait. It isn't said outright, but has multiple implied things supporting it. Like Kris getting really good at flirting when getting a red soul. "Ball game" means "Undertale".
>him being similar to Frisk and Chara
I think its because original "murderboy" idea was repurposed into being Kris.
>>
>>4024837
>True, but it's good when it's also canon compliant
And there is no canon here. Nothing explicitly states or implies a hard rule about how character ages must translate.

>like they are in the DW.
All we have are some explicitly not human flowers which are already those colors in the light world. Hardly enough evidence to say for certain.

>Protagonism isn't really a soul trait.
Who says it isn't? Protagonism certainly is a thing in universe, and the red soul always has the most of it.

> "Ball game" means "Undertale"
And here it would mean Deltarune

>I think its because original "murderboy" idea was repurposed into being Kris.
Which would still make him an analogue of Frisk and Chara.

>They aren't
I meant when you remap controls in the settings. That actually makes my point better.
>>4024838
>All we have
While its true, it would be weird to be not the case. Monsters have white souls so it would make sense for them to only slightly tint in the dark world form, while humans get soul colored. Also Kris is shown to be Cyan in the Asgore's flashback.

I personally think him being not an original character but Frisk/Chara detracts from his character and makes him worse, but I am not imposing my beliefs. I think Toby intentionally made it that way so people would assume he is one of them.

>>4024839
Kris is Codester wtf???
>>
>>4024842
>I meant when you remap controls in the settings. That actually makes my point better.
That's such an off to the side and minor thing. I really don't think its enough to stake a theory on here.

>Also Kris is shown to be Cyan in the Asgore's flashback.
And he was a different color in the Tenna flashback.

>I personally think him being not an original character but Frisk/Chara detracts from his character and makes him worse
He's an original character who's this universe's equivelent of Frisk and Chara. He's not the same person and more that Johnny Joestar is Johnathan Joestar or Gyro is Caesar.

Anyways this is all really off topic from the original question, which was what age the Oldentale characters would be in the Deltarune universe.
>>
>>4024847
>Tenna flashback
Yeah, because it was in sepia

>Oldentale
Would Racter be as stressed if he wasn't conscripted into a war, or he is naturally like that?
>>

Probably not as haplessly terrified as he is in Oldentale, but he'd still find something to stress over (or something would find him)

Good evening (it's almost 11 pm here by now) anon from your commenting style I'm guessing you are partners anon, right? I'm trying to recontextualize things in my mind based on your first point and while I see what you mean with her sounding more like a teacher, it's hard for me to get away from that mindset. It's probably how I would say things like that if I were in that situation, so it's a tad difficult to try and think differently.
The whole doctor debacle back and forth came about with me not really using Starlo for much in the story and a friend suggested him trying to pick at things from a 'civilian' (not trained combatand with experience) mindset and that was the easiest one I could think of where he could interject and try and make sense for himself.
>contractions
I'll keep it in mind. In other stories I wrote with her she talks way more lax, even taunting enemies like the smartass she can be at times, so I don't know why I didn't go for that style of speech. Probably because I felt this was a serious topic so she wouldn't be talking like some cheeky ass but I overcorrected.
>I did think it was interesting, and I can tell you've put a lot of thought into the setting Jackie comes from.
Thanks anon. Her's and Nahir's backstories are my most thought out from all of my characters. While not perfect, it's something I'm always thinking about (something something meme about oc lore in head vs written out). I could ramble on but since it's not connected to DR or UT I'm not gonna.
>even if our boy Clover is only around at the start
Boy, him being around for that conversation would definitely not have gone well for him. And I plopped in Ace because to me, he seems like the most level headed one of the four, maybe alongside Moray.
Either way anon, thank you for the feedback. I would love to talk more but I much prefer private convos which is sadly not possible, unless either of us finds the other one somehow.
>>
>>4024875
>spoilers
actually I'm a different anon
this is the second time you've mistaken me for him
> I'm trying to recontextualize things in my mind based on your first point and while I see what you mean with her sounding more like a
I think it may be because you're thinking about what information "needs" to be conveyed rather than what the character might "want" to convey. Also in stories, long info dumps are generally avoided because you communicate these things gradually over the course of the story so admittedly, it's hard to avoid completely here since the point of this story -is- her talking about her backstory.
In a longer running story you might have people curious about her and ask her questions, which she answers in a way that's more brief, suited to the situation at that point in the story (since a longer story would be about more than telling her backstory most likely), and it would come up in different ways over time showing us more and more of what kind of person she is as the story goes on
>I'll keep it in mind. In other stories I wrote with her she talks way more lax, even taunting enemies like the smartass she can be at times, so I don't know why I didn't go for that style of speech. that makes sense. If I remember right, english isn't your first language, so I'll say that contractions wont make her sound "cheeky" unless you start doing every word that you possibly can as a contraction.
for instance I can imagine Starlo going "would'ja" in a serious situation but a lot of other characters will come across as irreverent for doing that. Just something you'll want to experiment with over time.
>Ace because to me, he seems like the most level headed one of the four
yeah ace comes across as "mature" in a way that fits that.

I think you could still do that while approaching it the way I suggested, by having Starlo as a civilian who has dealt with people in despair (a large part of why he put on the north star persona in the first place I believe) be the one who makes the connections between those inferences
> I would love to talk more but I much prefer private convos which is sadly not possible, unless either of us finds the other one somehow.
fair enough and I'll leave my feedback at that unless you have any more things you'd like to talk about. I'd say you're welcome to message me on ao3 but well, it's got no messaging feature.

I was laying in bed just a bit ago when I suddenly jolted up as I had the idea of Reynault having a prosthetic arm with a detachable hand, like that fake hand prank you see people do sometimes, except his hand has an explosive charge built into it.

>I think you could still do that while approaching it the way I suggested, by having Starlo as a civilian who has dealt with people in despair (a large part of why he put on the north star persona in the first place I believe) be the one who makes the connections between those inferences
Could be but from what I know of Starlo, he could still have some naivete in regards of topics like this. Sure, he did his best (and arguably not a bad job) at keeping people's spirits (also why I decided to have him offer to learn some of the songs) but by at large, he would probably not have a grasp on the logistics and hows/whys of things that might be apparent to people like Gerson or Undyne.
>I'd say you're welcome to message me on ao3 but well, it's got no messaging feature.

I know ESL get's used as an insult on this site a lot, so I hope it didn't come across as deriding when I brought that up. I just didn't know if something like that might carry a different tone in another language.
>but by at large, he would probably not have a grasp on the logistics and hows/whys of things that might be apparent to people like Gerson or Undyne.
oh yeah I don't think he'd actually grasp the logistics of it on a grand scale. Just was thinking that maybe his reaction to the staggering nature of it could be used in a way to get the message across.
>I would say which server I can be found in but at the same time I'm also afraid of revealing too much. The bane of my existence.
yeah I'm not gonna suggest that such information be revealed. Even things like my ao3 are very far separated from my identity. Fucking hell, they used to teach people to keep their identity safe on the internet you know? Now you've got people making accounts under their real names and spreading that around.

that flashbanged me with a memory, when I was younger our dad got the original deathrace movie for us all to watch, possibly forgetting how violent it was since it's also an extremely cheesy movie at times.
at one point it's revealed that the main racer has a "hand grenade", literally just a grenade fused into his prosthetic hand

Huh, neat. I was imagining something a little less conspicuous though, a bit less noticeable.

I feel like he may not like violence for violence's sake, but he would like it if it was comedic enough.
I'm sure Oldentale anon will correct me on that somehow though, but I just get the idea that Reynault wouldn't find violence entertaining unless it was set up and executed according to certain specific standards.

I think the detachable hand would be Reynault's most used the prank, everytime he does it he changes what's inside it. sometimes its an explosive charge. other times is glue and other is nothing, the last one is meant for people who already expects his jokes, maybe it has some delayed effect or it doesn't do anything, leaving the target of the joke paranoid would be the point
>>
>>4024924
Hm, the hand would need to have some kind of opening on the palm or fingers in order for the glue one to really be effective, if having the hand stuck to another person's hand is the goal, anyway.
But yeah, I could see him doing stuff like that.
>>
>>4024928
>Hm, the hand would need to have some kind of opening on the palm or fingers in order for the glue one to really be effective,
maybe it's rigged to something near his shoulder so that when his arm is pulled away from him, a contrary rope is pulled opening that hand compartment while squeezing the glue compartment

Sounds a little more complicated than necessary, if I'm honest.
Besides, Oldentale anon's said that his prosthetics are effectively controlled on the inside, by some kind of tiny magic projectiles that move the internal mechanisms, rather than the mechanisms being intertwined with each other, so something like this could probably just be designed to be manipulated internally like that also, making it less complicated and less prone to failure.
I really do need to get around to doing that study before I run out of time again, maybe sometime next week.

>>4024937
>I'm not really sure if it's worthy of going there, anon.
if you're not comfortable with this one going on there I can hold off this time, but I was planning on archiving it. You kept it fangame related with the characters you included, and you've definitely been improving your technical skill.

maybe so, I don't know how else something like that would activate other than well, through magic as you mentioned. Would be real handy (heh) to have a compartment you can open at will in your hand for random uses though. especially for someone like him.

A tad, perhaps. Like I might habe already said too much but I don't really think (I hope) that anons I interact here would actively do malicious things? We'll see how I feel when its time to start posting.
>>
>>4024943
>maybe so, I don't know how else something like that would activate other than well, through magic as you mentioned.
Hm, I could imagine some internal mechanism confined to the hand itself, depending on the overall structure and size of it.
Maybe there's some kind of pressure-activated mechanism built into the palm that opens a compartment near it, at least for the glue one.
>Would be real handy (heh) to have a compartment you can open at will in your hand for random uses though. especially for someone like him.
Probably useful for sneaking things around, which I imagine he does often.

I set this drawing at a really stupid angle and I wanted the lighting to be coming from an implied TV or something off screen, and now I need to figure out how the hell the shadows would look at this angle with this setup, so now I have to load up Gmod so I can use the Source engine's light simulation for reference.
God I hate lighting.

Source has a surprisingly good light simulation, and the ability to spawn basically whatever I want makes it pretty decent for this kind of thing, at least for solid objects.
Most of my screenshots in Gmod have looked something like this for the past few months, even if I don't play it as often as I used to back in the day.

Except Source 2 I guess, but I think Source still wowed me more.

raytracing also seems to have stuck around for an oddly long time as "the advancement".

As embarrassing as it is, I'm seriously considering writing down or making diagrams of the undertale/deltarune yellow characters that I've been thinking about over and over before it gets lost in the whirlwind of thought again. Right now I'm thinking about different spins and motives on the personalities of the DR:Y lightners, and how deep the interpersonal relationships would go if the 3 humans (Kris, Cole, Melody) ended up living in Hometown at certain points in time.

>>
>>4024986
Yeah, I think VR could've been neat, but I think it was really only ever going to be a novelty compared to mainstream gaming stuff, most of the stuff VR does is at best a sidegrade to the kind of stuff we can do with games at this point, it's not like the technological leap we had back in the 90s and 2000s that allowed us to make games that were direct evolutions of what came before.
>>
>>4024998
The real issue VR is that it makes you really dizzy, and it takes a lot of time to set up your room and stuff. Just to play for a bit, since it's hard on the eyes too. It's easier to just boot-up your PC and instantly play whatever you want and not deal with a headache.
>>
>>4024998
>but I think it was really only ever going to be a novelty compared to mainstream gaming stuff
probably, but I think that we could have still gotten a lot of cool stuff in it. vr headsets are finally getting not miserable to wear, but the software just doesn't exist for the most part beyond some novelty things and "explore this world that someone with too much time on their hands created" which is admittedly cool, but not the potential it could have had.
>t's not like the technological leap we had back in the 90s and 2000s that allowed us to make games that were direct evolutions of what came before
that's true aside from I'd say things like simulator games which basically have begged for VR to exist.
I do really like when someone recreates a gameworld in vr because going around in those is actually pretty neat. I think there's a few for ut/dr.
>>4025002
ah the unfortunate failings of the flesh. I was fortunate enough to not have that issue, but I know it's one of those things that just fully removes desire to play from some people.
>>
>>4025002
Yeah, that's fair.
I myself don't have too much experience with VR, though I did get to try it out for a bit while touring an engineering lab once, where they had a Vive set up with some software that lets you see all the internals of an engine spread out to show you how it works. I think the future of VR is probably mostly going to be niche things like that, super specific uses rather than being a really mainstream option for entertainment, unless there are a whole lot of breakthroughs with it.
>>
>>4024986
>>4024998
VR is a gimmick, it was never going to compete with non VR games, there are too many game genres that just don't work with it
>>
>>4025005
>fortunate not to have that issue
Have you tried playing Boneworks?
>>
>>4025009
no but I should. Hyper dash was honestly extremely fun before it died. I haven't been as motivated to mess with my headset since.
Into the radius was also cool but it was basically just vr stalker. Hyper dash was one of the few games I gave a shot that took advantage of the idea.

I might hook the junkheap up again sometime to see if I can find one of those ut/dr worlds to walk around in, something about that is just cozy.
>>
>>4025012
>ut/dr worlds
Surprised nobody made Deltarune but in VR game
>>
>>4025015
I know I've seen screenshots of at least chapter 1 mapped out in vr, though it's probably for chat room purposes.
>>
>>4025008
>VR is a gimmick
true, but gimmicks can be fun and can do well enough to justify a niche. HOTAS are a good example of that. you don't NEED a hotas for any game but they are cool as hell for people into them and they enhance the experience for people into that.
>>
>>4025023
To be fair VR is way way more versatile than that
>>
>>4025018
No, not actually Deltarune but something that is inspired by it.
>>
>>4025027
that supports what I'm saying then. it's something that could have held a stronger niche than it does. If quality hotas and games that use them are a thing, then surely there's enough to support a corner of gaming for vr. I mean it's not dead but it's not what it could have been.
>>4025028
I really think that a lot of the potential devs for the vr scene in general fled when facebook got involved. They took the big name and put it into their closed eco system, making games be exclusives to their headsets, and only a small subset of their headsets even, splintering an already small community.
>>
>>4025031

I haven't heard of a single company making profit off of AI honestly. I can see LLMs being good for indexing certain kinds of data while not costing a lot, but I keep hearing news that everyone from the people buying the services to the people selling them are doing it at a loss.
I'm not sure what a company like facebook does to keep on going but I assume the large number of normalfags that doomscroll it gives them a lot of ad revenue at least.

I finally found time to sit down and read this. My thoughts have mostly been stated by other anons so I'll stick to other things, mostly world building.

>The gang was experts at using out-of-bounds areas to make royal guards lose track of them, a common practice among these types of criminals.
What exactly are "these types of criminals?" It is mentioned that their base is unexceptional and fit for low level criminals, but wouldn't the exceptional danger of using OOB zones weed out everyone who isn't a hardcore criminal? You could play with this, making OOB-based gangs a cut above the common, criminal rabble. I also think that OOB exploits would be closely guarded info by criminals, no? To the point that certain gangs might be known for certain tricks. Some of them might stand on wall collisions and take advantage of one-sided ceiling collisions to stage aerial ambushes. Others might have rope bridges hanging under the ground/above the void and pop out of the ground.

>Azupay bit onto a green bullet, his body sparkled with an emerald glow. The healing was insignificant, but
I would be very, very wary of allowing green magic to be self-applying, even at severely reduced rates, because you'll have to account for characters just hosing themselves down with their own green bullets. It will stop you from putting characters in danger from anything but catastrophic damage in most situations.

>Fireballs shaped as sickles

Sorry I got side tracked on getting back to you on that. I went back and reread it just now to refresh myself. Everything is much clearer and I understand the scene significantly more than I did before.

You're making me think things really hard now, but isn't that pretty much the same point at which MGR Raiden draws the line? If you took Luzma from UTN and placed her in MG then I think she would still have the same moral code, even if the world makes it nearly impossible to keep it that way, now if she were born in this world that could change, but at that point it would be like making an entirely new character.

>What exactly are "these types of criminals?" It is mentioned that their base is unexceptional and fit for low level criminals, but wouldn't the exceptional danger of using OOB zones weed out everyone who isn't a hardcore criminal?
Criminals with more experience hide in OOB areas, sometimes there's only one monster in the gang that knows their way around an OOB, everyone else just follows their lead, so being part of one of these groups doesn't mean that every member is on the same level.
>You could play with this, making OOB-based gangs a cut above the common, criminal rabble. I also think that OOB exploits would be closely guarded info by criminals, no? I like your ideas, I would have liked to do something more during the second fight, but at the time all I could think of was Azupay taking advantage of his knowledge of which parts of the floor had collisions and which didn't.

>I would be very, very wary of allowing green magic to be self-applying, even at severely reduced rates, because you'll have to account for characters just hosing themselves down with their own green bullets. The text itself says that the healing was insignificant, like a plus one HP, the point was to heal his tongue, when used like that is more like dispelling a status effect instead of proper healing.

>Thought of a little joke you could do with the name: "Flame-sickles. Not to be confused with Flame-Sicles (tm), one of her favorite treats."
That's a bit funny, but I'm not sure if that would be the best moment to add a joke in the prose, it was nearly the climax of the fight.
>>
>>4025173
>Definitely not happy.
Yeah, I figured.
>You're making me think things really hard now, but isn't that pretty much the same point at which MGR Raiden draws the line?
Kinda, yeah, but the ending shows us that he sorta embraces Armstrong's ideals anyway and keeps fighting the system, so even he came around eventually.
Not that we'll ever get to see what he does next, anyway.
>If you took Luzma from UTN and placed her in MG then I think she would still have the same moral code, even if the world makes it nearly impossible to keep it that way, now if she were born in this world that could change, but at that point it would be like making an entirely new character.
Yeah, fair.
>You could always knock her down, but that just delays the problem.
True, but there are other ways of keeping her down.
Hey, I've had the idea of being detained by my scrimblos thrown at me before, so what if I turn the tables this time to keep her from messing up the world even more? Seems fair to me.
If nanomachines or a similar system work on monsters, I could always just keep her as a biomort, kept in a coma while the nanomachines sustain her as she's unable to do anything until they're deactivated, like Solidus was.
Albeit, you know, with her body more intact, ideally.
No way she wouldn't be pissed about that, but it's a solution.
>>
>>4025176
>No way she wouldn't be pissed about that, but it's a solution.
So your plan is to keep her in a coma until the system "gets fixed"?
Yeah, she's not going to like that, but I'm not sure what her reaction would be once she wakes up, if your plan succeeds.
>>
>>4025192
>So your plan is to keep her in a coma until the system "gets fixed"?
Pretty sure they also did that to Big Boss himself in MGS4, and he wasn't looking too bad for a 79 year old.
>Yeah, she's not going to like that, but I'm not sure what her reaction would be once she wakes up, if your plan succeeds.
Oh, I figured she'd probably wake up and try and kill me on principle, for having gone through with the plan, and for having effectively kept her prisoner like that until now, I can't imagine a situation where she wouldn't just immediately go straight for the throat.
Which, honestly, is fair, that's a pretty fucked up thing to do to someone.
Still though, I figure she has to be at least grateful that I didn't kill her, and that the nanomachines stopped her body from decaying into nothing, she can't complain about that.
>>
>>4025194
>Oh, I figured she'd probably wake up and try and kill me on principle, for having gone through with the plan, and for having effectively kept her prisoner like that until now, I can't imagine a situation where she wouldn't just immediately go straight for the throat.
She's going for the kill obviously, but I mean, depending on how long she's been on that state this is going to be a lot to take in.
>Still though, I figure she has to be at least grateful that I didn't kill her, and that the nanomachines stopped her body from decaying into nothing, she can't complain about that.
You did put her in a coma for an unspecified amount of time, all to stop her from changing the world in her own way. At the very least she would ask you why, why keep her alive for so long? Are you trying to prove a point?
>>
>>4025199
>She's going for the kill obviously, but I mean, depending on how long she's been on that state this is going to be a lot to take in.
Well, tying this back into the completely absurd context we've been building so far, MGR takes place in 2018, and Armstrong was doing all that stuff to run for president, so it's gonna be at least two years just to really get things moving, since the next election would be 2020, assuming the United States hasn't deviated *too* much when it comes to presidential terms.
So, she'll be in that coma for a while, a few years at least, depending on how fast Armstrong does things.
>You did put her in a coma for an unspecified amount of time, all to stop her from changing the world in her own way.
To stop her from changing the world for the worse, I'd say.
>At the very least she would ask you why, why keep her alive for so long? Are you trying to prove a point?
I'd do it because I don't think she deserves to die, not over this. I disagree with her stance, and for the sake of the world, I couldn't let her act on it, but I can't blame her either. She's doing what she thinks is right, and in a better world, she would be right. There isn't really a point I'd be proving, and I wouldn't be rubbing her face in it after waking her up if things went according to plan.
If she wants to kill me after everything's said and done, that's her own prerogative, if she thinks I'd deserve it, but I'd let her walk away, if she wanted to.
I wouldn't expect her to think of me as anything other than a villain, but I wouldn't go out of my way to antagonize her, I couldn't really do that to her.
Even after all that, I'd still just like her to live.
>>

>Even after all that, I'd still just like her to live.
I think the fact that you spared her life would be the most conflicting to her, enough to make her laugh for how absurd it looks from her point of view. She might walk away, but only temporarily, even if your plan went perfectly, I don't know she would be willing to forgive what you did, or let you walk away from all the innocent blood that had be spilled for your goal to be fulfilled.

Plus, it's on-topic, technically this is just a really roundabout character study.
>I think the fact that you spared her life would be the most conflicting to her, enough to make her laugh for how absurd it looks from her point of view.
Doesn't seem like a conflict to me. If she and I were to fight, she would be my opponent, not my enemy. I can oppose her without wanting her dead. I suppose from my perspective, as someone typing this out, it's just a preference of mine, but were I placed into this context directly, or if I had some kind of pre-existing relationship with her in this context, then I guess I'd have deeper reasons for keeping her alive, though there might be a tragic spin to things at that rate.
Even if she's laughing about it, I imagine it wouldn't be too long before she gets angry about what I did, that I was willing to kill so many to reach a certain end, but I drew the line at her. Bet that'd be fun for her to think about from time to time.
>She might walk away, but only temporarily, even if your plan went perfectly, I don't know she would be willing to forgive what you did, or let you walk away from all the innocent blood that had be spilled for your goal to be fulfilled.
I wouldn't expect her to forgive me, nor would I ask for such a thing. I know what I've done.
And hey, now that it's all over, it's not like killing me is much of a problem anymore, eh?
If she had won before, she'd be killing the chances for a better world. If she wins now, she's only killing a man.
Maybe I can let her have this one, if she wants it so badly.

Nta, but sometimes I consider the thought of "what if I was facing my favorite characters at my absolute worst." Both wondering how I'd react, and how they'd react. Perhaps a character knowing my worst secrets or if I failed a plan at their expense. I guess I'm curious where this would go if all of this played out, but with it turning out that armstrong was actually full of it, and you had just been another in a long like of people used for his ambitions. Im wondering how someone like Luzma might react finding out as she's woken from the coma, about your plans and intentions from that circumstance.

Assuming that, in the face of something like that, you wouldn't give up on your original goal, I wonder how that could play out. Maybe shed laugh cry and scream all the same, but would she have it in her to claw her way to her own goal again here? Would she even attack you?

>Nta, but sometimes I consider the thought of "what if I was facing my favorite characters at my absolute worst." Both wondering how I'd react, and how they'd react.
Yeah, I do that a lot too, I've imagined some pretty messed up scenarios with the various scrimblos I've gathered from here.
It's fun.
>I guess I'm curious where this would go if all of this played out, but with it turning out that armstrong was actually full of it, and you had just been another in a long like of people used for his ambitions.
Aw, that'd be a downer, after I trusted him and everything?
Darn.
>Im wondering how someone like Luzma might react finding out as she's woken from the coma, about your plans and intentions from that circumstance.
Well, I guess she becomes a contingency plan then. Maybe not too much of one, if I beat her before, but you know, she'd be useful.
Probably have a hell of a time waking her, having to greet her with "So, about all that stuff I had planned-", trying to get a word in and apologize before she rips me to shreds.
>Assuming that, in the face of something like that, you wouldn't give up on your original goal, I wonder how that could play out.
Well, if we've both been given the short end of the stick, we may as well work together, eh?
Maybe I'd have to convince her not to kill me before killing the person actually responsible for all this, that might be trouble.
>Maybe shed laugh cry and scream all the same, but would she have it in her to claw her way to her own goal again here? Would she even attack you?
Well, I'd certainly hope she'd have the energy to not just give up after all that.
Think she'd accept an apology, if I admitted I was wrong?
I think Naranjadev said she'd have a certain respect for people who truly believe in what they're fighting for, even if she disagrees with it, so she can't hold it *too* much against me, can she?

fun is certainly a word that you could use. I suppose. I found myself in an autistic rabbit hole the other day imagining if Martlet was in a situation where she thought she had to kill me.

hey even the best bets have a chance of falling through right?
>Well, I guess she becomes a contingency plan then. Maybe not too much of one, if I beat her before, but you know, she'd be useful.
she might be able to say something similar about you if you think about it. From where she's standing, you're not much better off for your hypothetical failure.
>I think Naranjadev said she'd have a certain respect for people who truly believe in what they're fighting for, even if she disagrees with it, so she can't hold it *too* much against me, can she?
my gut feeling says she'd probably not kill you at your lowest, but that she wouldn't accept your apology either? Maybe she'd wake up, try to attack you, then stop as you explained and just stare at you, before eventually laughing her head off and leaving without a word. She's probably conflicted on what to do now herself since clearly neither of you were enough to accomplish your goals on your own evidently. She'd probably need to 'brood' over this one for a bit.
Maybe she could respect that you really clearly believed in what you were doing if you were crazy enough to wake her back up after failing, but I have a feeling it would take more than an apology to get her to work with you after that.

Hmm, what if she left to train, telling you to kick rocks, only to dramatically show up again as you were fighting a losing battle. Maybe she'd part ways again, saying she hasn't forgiven you but... maybe if you keep fighting for what you believe like a maniac, you'll cross paths again.

>fun is certainly a word that you could use. I suppose.
I think it's fun, imagining all sorts of awful scenarios to explore.
>I found myself in an autistic rabbit hole the other day imagining if Martlet was in a situation where she thought she had to kill me.
Heh, nice, that's always a classic.
I forget the exact details I thought up, but I once thought of a scenario where I tried to permanently prevent anyone else from having the time powers from determination by keeping myself hooked up to a DT IV drip and sealing myself inside a secure facility, only for Ceroba to go looking for me after I sealed myself away and finding the bio-mechanical monstrosity I'd turned myself into.
Stuff like that's fun for me to imagine, I dunno.
>hey even the best bets have a chance of falling through right?
I suppose, just a shame.
>she might be able to say something similar about you if you think about it. From where she's standing, you're not much better off for your hypothetical failure.
Yes, but not for a lack of effort, I was just mislead in this scenario. If I beat her and had her in a coma for that long, then that means I'm still more capable than she was, if she lost to me.
>my gut feeling says she'd probably not kill you at your lowest, but that she wouldn't accept your apology either?
Hm, probably.
Maybe I could convince her that if she already failed before, she wouldn't stand a chance trying again on her own?
I feel like she can't really argue with that.

Hm, maybe.
I feel like if we actually managed to deal with this second problem, I might have had enough of fighting for one lifetime. Not like there'd be too much left to fight for anyway, may as well let the world build itself back up at that point.
Maybe she'll go on and kill me then if she still feels so strongly about it, meh.
>>
>>4025316
>where she finds one of them critters injured and helps it out. They deserve better.
I know little about it other than that there are little creatures that suffer and it may be the authors fetish. I feel bad for them.
>After I finish shatteres gold, the next longform thing would def be the one that my shared story was an epilogue to
nice, I hope that goes well. I feel like being able to return to that after getting some experience with other settings through your uty writing will probably feel nice.
>>
>>4025318
>I think it's fun, imagining all sorts of awful scenarios to explore.
it is honestly interesting,
>and finding the bio-mechanical monstrosity I'd turned myself into.
we're reaching levels of mad science previously thought impossible!
which well, is kind of what mad science is about I guess.
>If I beat her and had her in a coma for that long, then that means I'm still more capable than she was, if she lost to me.
yes, more capable than she was, but not than she will be! Surely she'll be much stronger after a training arc or eating some kind of new fangled super fuel
>Maybe I could convince her that if she already failed before, she wouldn't stand a chance trying again on her own?
>I feel like she can't really argue with that.
Possibly, but I still think she'd probably float off somewhere to get her thoughts in order. Probably ask herself questions like how she can tackle this problem while still being true to herself. She can't deny that she was too weak, but just immediately falling in line because of that is probably not in her character.
>I feel like if we actually managed to deal with this second problem, I might have had enough of fighting for one lifetime
ah well, I'd assume that the fight she stepped in on wasn't the final battle but if It was I guess things would change there.
I doubt she'd still want to kill you if she decided not to try killing you when she woke up. She seems too decisive to go back to that point after deciding against it before.
>>
>>4025334
>it is honestly interesting,
See, sometimes shoving your favorite scrimblos into the torment nexus can be an enjoyable pastime.
>we're reaching levels of mad science previously thought impossible!
If I was with Ceroba, she'd probably constantly have to stop me from abusing magic-science mechanics to do something awful(ly brilliant) to myself like that.
But trust me, the results will be well worth any risk.
>yes, more capable than she was, but not than she will be! Surely she'll be much stronger after a training arc or eating some kind of new fangled super fuel
I have to imagine I'd have gotten something of a boost myself since then, if I've been doing my share of heavy lifting in all this. By which I mean killing people, but you know.
>She can't deny that she was too weak, but just immediately falling in line because of that is probably not in her character.
Yeah, she'd probably need a minute to process everything. Especially if it took a while before I actually woke her up, since I might've needed some time to decide on whether or not I felt like things hadn't gone as I'd hoped.
Can't have been more than like a decade though, probably.
>I doubt she'd still want to kill you if she decided not to try killing you when she woke up. She seems too decisive to go back to that point after deciding against it before.
Eh, fair enough.
Unless we found a cool new thing that would decide the fate of the world somehow and was therefore worth fighting over again, that'd probably do it.

Oh shit it works now, give me a sec.
>>
>>4025366
Oh you saw it? I know not many anons checked it out, as it eas just barely on topic but I enjoyed it. Drawing aurafarming orange was fun. Though now that I said that out loud, a part of me started to have some existential crisis about whether or not I find art fun. I definitely know I wanna do it, just so I could draw my ideas and stuff I wanna see. Hm, probably best I don't dwell on that.
>>
New Bedo image is done, along with an alt I made for myself because I felt like it.
Strictly speaking, in terms of what made me want to draw this initially, the alt was actually what came to mind first, I just ended up making the primary version more normal since I knew very few people would care for the initial idea I had.
Here's Bedo laying on a couch, nude, late at night: https://files.catbox.moe/7ilkdc.png
And here's the alt I made for myself: https://files.catbox.moe/pzhllw.png
I think I like this drawing more than my first real crack at her, even if I'm not quite used to drawing her full figure like this. I appreciate Naranjadev telling me about her eye colors in the previous thread, I think she looks good with more detailed eyes like this.
Or, eye, anyway, since you can only see the one.
I think her being mostly green looks a bit odd without too many other colors to contrast with it, but I guess that's only a problem when she's nude, so her design doesn't really have that issue normally, unless UTN is gonna have her naked at some point for some reason.
Also, I tried out a new brush for the lineart on this one, but I'm not sure it's particularly noticeable. I think I like it though, it seems good.

I'm not sure what my immediate next image will be. I want to do something with Ceroba again, but I don't have any super concrete ideas, other than maybe her tugging at her not-kemono to tease [you] or something like that. We'll see what happens.

For now, I hope this image is enjoyable, but I'd like to hear any thoughts on it you may have.
>>
>>4025370
>Oh you saw it?
Yeah, but I don't think I said anything at the time.
>I know not many anons checked it out, as it eas just barely on topic but I enjoyed it.
Eh, I think base UTDR still sorta counts. It's the base which all the other stuff around here is built on, anyway, at least partially.
>Though now that I said that out loud, a part of me started to have some existential crisis about whether or not I find art fun. I definitely know I wanna do it, just so I could draw my ideas and stuff I wanna see. Hm, probably best I don't dwell on that.
Ah, that's something that crosses all of our minds at one point or another, with varying frequency.
I personally find drawing to be enjoyable, my feelings are largely due to reception. I understand if you may feel the same.
>>
>>4025371
While I'll be upfront and say chubby girls are not for me in any capacity, I think you did well anon. Good work on the lighting and shading, and I think the perspective came iut really well too. I like her expressions a lot in both versions. All in all, good stuff man.
>>
>>4025374
I like drawings, when I feel satisfied eith the outcome, it's just the process itself I'm left worried about. Because I know that doing something you don't have fun with is not advised as it can lead to burnout or you ending up hating it. But still, the idea of being able zo draw gals with massive tits and nice thighs drives me on. Also possibly cool sction stuff but that's long way off.

i suppose it'd make more sense if i have the whole bar there.
part of my want for chronological ordering over aligned is that the latter can result in the reactions being rather spaced out in the later chapters.
if they were closer together i could get away with something like "kanako says the first thing, cole and sadie react to it", but not when rosa's saying the first thing and cole's responding.

reason why this is a persistent problem is because im going to keep party members not currently present selectable so that you can move equipment items off of them.
otherwise you'll just run into a problem where cole and kanako have a monopoly on the good shit while everyone else gets the worse generic items because you dont want to lose access to it when they leave.
im also not going to make the equipment automatically unequip since it'd make other party members feel temporary.

>I like how her belly is getting attention in the alt
Oh, nice, I didn't think anyone would really care for that one, due to its particular "subject matter", so to speak.
>that's hot her legs look great too, her expressions are good too

>If you wanted to make the colors more varied maybe you could have given her darker nipples?
I thought about that at one point, but I never went through with it. How would you expand the Deltarune "genre" with VR though? What generally makes these games so good is the writing, how they make characters that all feel real, the interplay of them making up what feels like a living, breathing world, and of course how all the meta elements play into that. Its a game that knows its a game, but feels real all the same.

What actual benefits could VR bring to the table there? What could it do that normal screens can't? Most of it centered on its writing, which would work even in a text only medium, so the only thing I can think of for VR is having your monster friends/waifus feel more real by having them stand in front of you, but that might backfire by letting you see the metaphorical seams in everything instead of letting your imagination fill in the blanks.

There actually was a dance party in the ARG, though it was specifically something made in engine using the interlope function as part of some old add for some unreleased game or defunct forum, and it was what clued people into the existence of this interlope feature.

The whole thing is all about people investigating "bullshit" screenshots and "my dad works at nintendo" claims, and finding little grains of truth in them. There's even a whole side story about some kid who thinks his game is haunted, which is an obvious parody of those corny gmod ghost args, which the characters in the arg keep using as a source of clues for their investigation.
>>
>>4025737
It could be argued that LOVE is just playing the game. It is the central mechanic of the game after all.
>>
>>4025817
The only other options I can think of are displaying the text boxes one at a time in order so the player will know the chronological order while they're being spoken; or writing the dialogue so conversations are always spoken in the order the characters are listed (Cole always speaks first, Pedla always last). Anything else is simply too confusing to follow.
>>
>>4025823
You can play the game without gaining any L(evel)o(f)V(iolenc)E though
>>
>>4025828
thats the whole point of putting the character names there and coloring them.
>or writing the dialogue so conversations are always spoken in the order the characters are listed (Cole always speaks first, Pedla always last). Anything else is simply too confusing to follow.
and this is pretty explicitly the reason why i want chronologically ordered responses.
>>
>>4025841
But the game still revolves around you doing everything in your power to avoid it. Every playthrough is defined by either the presence or lack of LOVE.
>>
>>4025847
You either show love or LoVE to win in Ball Game. Because red soul's trait is love
>>
>>4025844
>thats the whole point of putting the character names there and coloring them.
That's not enough. Its still confusing.

>and this is pretty explicitly the reason why i want chronologically ordered responses.
Do you understand what I said. If you were doing what I suggested, Cole (as in him specifically in every conversation he speaks in) would always have the first word in every conversation, followed by Kanako, then Sadie, then Gizmo, then Mylo, then Pedla. It would always be in that exact order. No one could speak earlier or later than in that exact order. That way everyone's dialogue would line up with their portraits.

If you understood that, then I don't understand what issue you have here.
>>
>>4025854
And you still interact with love and LOVE in both extremes, either chasing or explicitly refusing it. LOVE and love are the two sides of BALL GAME.
>>
>>4025859
But Ball Game is not about avoiding LOVE or not. If you avoid all LOVE you still won't win the Ball Game, as even if you spare them all you won't get the real ending until you do the 3 dates (show love)
>>
>>4025872
To completely refuse all LOVE, you must do all three dates so you can encounter and spare the amalgams.
>>
>>4025888
You can spare Asgore and leave the underground as lv1 with 0 exp.

Just because you avoided something, doesn't mean you LOVE them. You can flee from almost every enemy, and still get the true pacifist ending. You can get the pacifist neutral ending without pressing the SPARE button even once too.
>>
>>4025900
>You can get the pacifist neutral ending without pressing the SPARE button even once too.
But not true pacifist
>You can flee from almost every enemy, and still get the true pacifist ending.
>almost
which means that you must spare to get the true pacifist ending
>>
>>4025900
>You can get the pacifist neutral ending without pressing the SPARE button even once too.
What? Dont you have to use the spare button to avoid killing toriel?
>>
>>4025907
In the true pacifist credits the name of monsters you spared is highlighted in yellow, if you didn't spare them, fleed from them, spared them from lowering their hp, or didn't fulfill their special goal then their name stays white.

Pretty sure the only monsters you have to SPARE, ironically enough are the amalgamtes (but they have special conditions when their names become yellow in the credits instead).

Or do you say that avoiding goop hell monsters makes you Violent?
>>
>>4025920
If you miss your attack it still counts as a stall for the end of the fight.
>>
>>4025926

>>
>>4025923
>Or do you say that avoiding goop hell monsters makes you Violent?
No, but it does make you less pacifist, thus less averse to LOVE

Also, to get the pacifist ending you have to spare all the bosses except Undyne (whom you flee from)

i get what you're saying here, im saying that its comedically limiting.
take violetta as a more extreme case for example, since she's the last one in the menu none of her reaction conversations could start with her, if i did what you're saying all of hers would be in a format of someone else asking a question and her responding to it. thats boring.

>>
>>4025954
> i just cant see how.
I listed two methods. Either write everything in chronological order AND character name order. Or have only one dialogue box appear on screen at a time.

>thats boring.
You could make it work. The problem with the other method is that it simply can't work because the player can't read it properly. No joke will ever land if the player is perpetually reading the conversations in the wrong order and is always confused about what they're saying.
>>
>>4025971
>You have a video of this?

No you don't? Flowey kills him anyway, and if you do spare him and flowey was already beaten then he just kills himself.

The real issue is the Doggo since you have to spare him and I am pretty you can't avoid him. Forgot about that...

It just kinda sucks, is all.
Spending as much time as I did to make something like that, just to be met with basically no reception.

>>
>>4025994
But Luzma's story got a lot of replies? And I don't remember much art being posted recently. Wiki and Quetzali got some replies, it's not like you are going to argue for 1000 posts about that.

>>4025371
Nice titties, also like that you are trying a more dynamic pose/angle compared to your previous works

>>4025950
>>4025985
If you're doing it in order to get "reception" you're doing it wrong (besides there are like less than 50 people that frequent those threads and not all of them are interested in these characters)
Won't go on a sermon here to convince you but if you focus too much on numbers and engagement, this will just lead you to be unhappy with your art and eventually you will just stop drawing altogether
Sometimes it's better to just indulge and do art for yourself, sure it feels nice to get feedback from others but sometimes only you can make the art you crave

Yeah, not something I would have to worry about in game, I guess if you wanted to make her less green, your could add more "freckles" to the rest of her body, sea bunnies have those black dots all over them.

Had a dream where I was in the future and "people who fight" had hp and stats like in undertale but played out in a fighting game. I know undertale didn't invent stats of course, but in this dream it was "hp like undertale". Probably because of the fics and conversations here recently.
I reached 0 hp and was able to keep fighting because I was subject to an experiment that had happened in the past that I came from from which everyone died at the age of 29 from, for some specific reason. It was interpreted in the dream as a DT overdose that I survived but a side effect of surviving was I went into the future. I remembered wanting to cry as I talked to the people from my past who were now gerson level old now. I don't have vidya dreams very often so it was funny in a way waking up and realizing i was comparing everything to undertale terms in the dream.
>>4025371
Heh, nice work anon.I can see that using the HL2 lighting did you a lot of good, and your love for her body comes through loud and clear.

You're just getting yourself into your own head. You've been getting more engagement on your recent images, even with this one appealing to more specific niches. I remember images of yours that only got 2-3 replies and this one got 7 and it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. Stop mentally sabotaging yourself when the world will do enough to fuck us up on its own accord.
I've posted things here and elsewhere that have gotten next to no engagement, it doesn't really mean anything. Sometimes people don't like what you like, and other times, like this time, you just have to give it time.
>>
>>4025995
nta but, a good number of the replies you see are people following up their feedback (though a good number of people did read that story).
It seems pretty random but some rentry posted stories have gotten less attention than they used to. Likely has to do with threads moving a bit faster due to more posters, and a rentry link doesn't stand out all too much.
I feel like art, including that anons art, has been getting more engagement than before though. it was tragic going through the archives and seeing a drawfag post something and get literally 0 responses

It's been hit or miss. The drawing only got more replies after that post I made pointing out how it only got two, and one of those replies *is* that same post anyway, so it took me bitching about it to draw more attention to it, seems like.
That, and an anon uploaded it to esix recently (which I do appreciate, whoever you are), and it doesn't seem to be too well-liked there either, and the same can be said for a lot of my work there lately. Hell, the other drawanons around here whose stuff gets posted over there run circles around me.

Maybe those are reposts?

And it's impressive Luzma story got as much traction as it got since it was somewhat super random? Especially on a character which doesn't even exist in game yet, also focusing on a new character who likely won't even appear at all.
>>
>>4026086
>For some reason this sounds ominous, but I'm gonna pretend its just an street fighter thing where a lot of random people have super natural powers with no further explanation.
I remember that the world was in dire conditions. I wasn't more powerful than "the people who fight", but they couldn't beat me as long as I didn't yield to the pain. This was revealed in the dream when I was fighting glacious from killer instinct (I know it was him because I could vividly hear his theme). Everyone who sent me into the fight was placing all of their hopes and dreams on me, but I got my ass kicked. When the fight didn't end and my hp started going negative while I was still standing, everyone freaked out and it grabbed the attention of the government because the rules didn't strictly say I "had to stop fighting because I ran out of hp".
>Chujin's experiment was a success I see.
makes me want to write something but the idea isn't fully formed in my head. Something that would only make sense with the context of this dream probably.
>How? like you just woke up in the future after reaching 0 HP or something?
"everyone you know is dead except this person(s?), we have no idea how you're alive, everyone else that was involved in that experiment so long ago died when they reached 29, but here you are)" something like that.

hmm, Chujin being amazed and impressed that his experiment worked, but being conflicted at the agony the subject went through to win the fight despite being "effectively killed" mid fight.
>>

Try to don't be so negative, your Martlet drawing did pretty well from what I've seen, comparing yourself to others all the time is the easiest way to feel miserable.
>>
>>4026087
>The drawing only got more replies after that post I made pointing out how it only got two, and one of those replies *is* that same post anyway, so it took me bitching about it to draw more attention to it
Nah man, you're getting in your own head. that's all there is to it. I saw you posted them while I was out and about dealing with errands in public and I was unable to open the images up and actually look at them until I got home (I'm not opening ANY catbox in public. not happening)
Plus there was a conversation going on so worse case scenario, your post reminded people who missed it that there was a thing (I read every post that happens in these threads because I'm a fucking psycho, but a lot of people are weak and will not survive the winter, and don't go through everything that was posted).
this is just how things go when you post something when everyone is asleep. Last time you posted an image middle of the day, it got decent traction.
>Hell, the other drawanons around here whose stuff gets posted over there run circles around me.
comparing yourself to other artists is the mind killer

maybe but the wording of the post made me think it was the first time in at least one instance.

I think it got good response, I'm just measuring it by how much I feel like rentry posts were responded to when I first joined these threads. I do think they fall under the radar sometimes which is sad to see when it happens.
>>
>>4026087
>The drawing only got more replies after that post I made pointing out how it only got two,
thats pretty normal from what I've seen in threads over the years, sometimes posts get buried but then someone replies to it hours later and then people check the reply to see where it came from and then reply to the post
most anons just look at the last few new posts so dont get discourage when your post gets buried (specially with this threads tendency to go on multi post multi hours giant paragraph tangents)
>>
>>4026133
>ometimes posts get buried but then someone replies to it hours later and then people check the reply to see where it came from and then reply to the post
honestly this happens with completely regular posts that don't have any OC tied to them. There will be a post made early in the thread talking about something, someone finally responds to it which causes someone to get curious to go look and see "oh I'm actually interested in this."

>>
>>4025680
Imagine you get to a point where you create a dark world, and the way you ACTed on the object in the LW influences their DW version, for example.

I don't know how it contradicts having good writing? You can definitely make vr characters feel even more real, you just got to program them be able to react to your shenanigans. Like if you stare at them for too long they will get weirded out. Maybe add a relationship meter that will encourage players who care about the characters to not mess around and take them seriously.
And the Deltarune characters don't really show their realness until Chapter 3 board game.
>What actual benefits could VR bring
Immersion and Novelty?. I didn't say that it has to be good, just surprised nobody tried to capitalize on DR's likeness.
You could definitely write something out of it, especially since regular DR also covers the topic of fiction.

Not like I'm the only one comparing myself, but that's been discussed before.
There was even an anon just a little while ago after I brought this up this time who said the image wasn't being replied to or talked about because it wasn't on Signirsol's level, and yeah, he's right, it's not.
>I'm sitting on exactly 0 likes on something I'm really proud of. The will of the people is a fickle creature of little value.

other people are going to compare you to stuff, it's unavoidable since you can't control other people of course. You just got to do your best to put that kind of stuff out of mind and focus on your own improvement (something that the replies to your art have been noting lately I feel).
You're not alone in comparing yourself and beating yourself up at every possible angle, it's one of those things creators of all kinds have a habit of doing, but I will still encourage you to fight that and focus on the positive reception you've gotten.
>I'm sorry to hear that, I hope it gets more attention.
>I guess you're better at separating yourself from your work than I am.
don't get me wrong, I feel the sensation of disappointment and desire for recognition as anyone else does, but you have to practice letting that feeling of disappointment wash over you.
It's still gonna be there, but like I said, there's enough crushing miserable feelings brought upon us by the world as it is. It's a work in progress and something you have to actively check yourself on even when you want to claw and scream at the world, but it's important to remind yourself of.

I feel like this has to be something similar to what "eat the path" is supposed to mean. I still intend on playing it so maybe I missed the mark using that expression here.

>it wasn't on Signirsol's level, and yeah, he's right, it's not.
Anon, Signirsol has been drawing for over a decade, this is the dumbest comparison you can make, of course your art won't be on his level, I used to feel like shit too because I couldn't stop comparing myself with others (and I still do from time to time) but this isn't a healthy mindset to have, you should look at the other artists and get inspired, not discouraged.
And surprisingly, when Sig did that Sadie x Gizmo drawing he didn't get that many replies either, the art had to be reposted, sometimes the posts get ignored no matter the quality.

Curious question, why is this drawanon called the unbirthing drawanon?

it's more that it spawned a tangentially related conversation about the concept of redeeming genocide clover, something some of us have very polarizing views on, and that conversation was 3-500 posts at most.

Then when he came back he asked if people wanted to see Ceroba being pregnant with Clover or Martlet, cause people were asking for it, with the majority voting Ceroba, which lead to the Ceroba unbirthing Clover image been drawn.
Both images ended up being really popular and being talked about a lot, and from that point, people here and on e6 become aware of his art, which only grew from there.
>>
>>4026304
Probably a mix of some images feature a fetish that some people like, it's drawn in a way that's easy on the eyes, his art style is appealing, along with having good anatomy overall.
There's also the fact he makes alts so more people can enjoy the images that features something they may not be into.
>>
>>4026179
>>4026275
Yeah, that's true. I was thinking perhaps either outline the text instead of filling them in, or change the character colours to contrast more with the background, but that may still not be enough.
What about mini face portraits like Clover?
>>
>>4026351
I think mini face portraits are lame, but I might be in the minority. How about you represent them with their weapon icon?
>>
>>4026353
That sounds pretty good. Weapon icons are more discernible at a small size than face portraits. It might take some time for newer players to connect the icon with the character, but combining it with the character colours would allude to it pretty well.
Think I like this most of all the options suggested in the thread thus far

How do you implement that though? How do you determine what counts as an ACT and what effect it should have in the dark world?

>I don't know how it contradicts having good writing?
It doesn't, it just also doesn't add anything. When the immersion is all done by the writing, improving graphics doesn't really change much.

>And the Deltarune characters don't really show their realness until Chapter 3 board game.
I gotta disagree, they're real from the moment they come on screen. It just takes a while for you to figure them out.

>Immersion and Novelty?
That's too vague of an answer. Be specific. What novel gameplay or story elements would VR add? What immersive elements would it add? So far all you've listed is characters not liking being stared at.

>How do you determine what counts as an ACT
I meant you interacting with the objects, and it would obviously be limited in scale.
>It also doesn't add anything
It could if you made it to. And it's not about graphics, did you ever use VR?
>I gotta disagree
They only start acting independently in the board game. I don't get what you mean by "real" aside from that. Also Deltarune world is not a "living, breathing world" it's literally the opposite. It might even just be a Gaster's simulation, for all we know.
>Too vague
I was thinking from a perspective on why someone would do that, it would be up to them to actually make it. People like to copy stuff that's already successful, there are like 5 billion extraction shooter clones, it's up to them to make each unique.
I am sure people would buy just to see not!Fungang.
>So far all you've listed is characters not liking being stared at
Anon, you are killing me. Not only is that everything I've listed, but also I said that as a response to VR characters "not feeling real". I tried proposing how to solve that, so the player would be able to suspend their disbelief and not see the "metaphorical seams" like you said.
Almost like there was a character in DR who was very concerned about (You) continuing being invested in the story...

>The text itself says that the healing was insignificant
When I said "even at severely reduced rates," that's what I was acknowledging. Anyways, yes, I think that's a good caveat to have and it prevents the worst damage to the stakes of battles, but even a simple +1 invites a lot of questions. Can the monster just spam this? How fast can they summon and fire heals, and how many can they conjure at the same time? Even if it's something like one bullet a second, that's enough to incentivize monsters to ditch a fight and hide for little while, then come back at full health. Even bosses have HP measured in hundreds in UT.

Also, even at incredibly low levels, self-healing can cause trouble for certain kinds of scenes. Your character is doing the monster-equivalent of bleeding out? Just heal. Character has taken a near-fatal blow? As long as they're not being actively killed, then they can heal. The ability to repair wounds conveniently can poison a narrative unless extreme care is taken.

>the joke
It doesn't have to be in the middle of the fight or anything. I'm just throwing it out there for future use, if applicable.

>I meant you interacting with the objects, and it would obviously be limited in scale.
Ok, what counts as interacting? How do you tell which is interaction is which? What interactions would have what affects? What if the play does something that isn't one of those?

>And it's not about graphics
Its either graphics, mechanics, or writing. And sometimes certain mechanics (such as VR exclusive ones) are dependent on graphics.

> And it's not about graphics, did you ever use VR?
Yeah, I was really into VR a few years ago.

>They only start acting independently in the board game.
First of all, they do that in chapter 1. Second of all, acting independently isn't the end all be all of making them feel real. That's to do with writing and giving them traits that manifest in subtle ways here and there while not making them seem like just characters.

>Also Deltarune world is not a "living, breathing world" it's literally the opposite
Its a figurative term, anon. No shit its not really alive, every work of fiction is just words on a screen. It *feels* real, that's what I'm saying.

>I was thinking from a perspective on why someone would do that,
Until you think of anything specific, its just mashing words together with no meaning or intention. Its not even an idea.

>I am sure people would buy just to see not!Fungang.

> Not only is that everything I've listed

>>

>Heh, nice work anon.I can see that using the HL2 lighting did you a lot of good, and your love for her body comes through loud and clear.
Thanks, I wanted to try and do some actual shading for this image of her, since I mostly didn't do any for my first drawing of her a while back.
I don't think I quite nailed the semi-transparency she's supposed to have, but I think the highlights and shading look alright on her.
>spoilers
I do want to do that at some point, but that might be a while. Still need to figure out the details and whatnot for the idea too, her reaction, pose, surroundings, etc.
Plus, I'd also need to make sure those details wouldn't be too similar to a cunnilingus image I'd want to do of her, since I don't like making my drawings too similar to each other, and naturally having an anon licking some area of her body like that only lends itself to a limited amount of setups.
>>
>>4026420
>Still need to figure out the details and whatnot for the idea too, her reaction, pose, surroundings, etc.
yeah i imagine that one would actually be kind of tricky to put into place. it shouldn't be the same as like, normal eating someone out or making out with them?
which you seemed to actually bring up right away
>I'd also need to make sure those details wouldn't be too similar to a cunnilingus image I'd want to do of her, since I don't like making my drawings too similar to each other

Ugh... Anon I am neither the salesman nor a developer of VR deltarune. It's up to them to make it interesting. I am just saying that it is possible, not even that it is going to be good.
>it's either
It's immersion, and an actual dev would be adding mechanics, graphics and the story based on what works when they actually make the game. I can't know what works because I am not doing it.
>They do that in chapter 1
They act like NPCs (one just has an attitude). Your "realness" is subjective, it's like somebody saying that UT characters don't feel "real" because they've played Genocide route and got detached.
>It's a figurative term, anon
I know...? But it doesn't even feel "real" to me. Or even to in-game characters like Noelle, who never even saw the other side of the lake.
>mashing words together
Everything is mashing words together if you don't care
>Unrelated isn't the blandest thing ever
I didn't mean literally them, and things like Mondealy exist and they are not even VR.

It's like if I said that Counter Strike could have a VR game adaptation and you were arguing that it couldn't bring anything at all to the table.
>>
>>4026422
>yeah i imagine that one would actually be kind of tricky to put into place. it shouldn't be the same as like, normal eating someone out or making out with them?
Yeah, there's more room to show her reaction to it, since it's just her belly(button) that's being focused on.
That, and the fact that unless she's also a massive freak, she wouldn't necessarily be getting direct pleasure from it the way she would from being made out with or having her pussy eaten, so how exactly she would respond to that is a little harder to figure out, in terms of what I really want for it.
>'semi transparency" honestly sounds like a huge pain in the ass to actually capture.
I've thought about using a blur tool to convey that, by blurring the edges between her two colors to make it look like she's only partially transparent, but I haven't tried it yet.
>>
>>4026425
Counter Strike I can actually see. Its pretty obvious what it brings, since guns and gun combat are different in VR than they are on a screen. As for Deltarune, which is mainly story focused, the story is going to be a story no matter what device its displayed on.

Anyways, what you're doing is like those corporate board members who say "why don't we do an AI fridge" and shoe horn AI into everything without ever actually thinking about how or why they would do it.
>>
>>4026441
And VR Deltarune combat is also going to be different because you will have to make it not turned based because that would suck.
>The story is going to be a story no matter what device it's displayed on
Yes! But watching a story in a theater is different from being in it yourself.

What I am doing is talking about a concept of an air conditioner and you saying that it is useless because a fridge already exists.
>>
>>4026445
>But watching a story in a theater is different from being in it yourself.
Not really. The immersion is all in your head. Like I said earlier, it can be entirely text based and still have that effect.

>I haven't played Alyx

>>
>>4026459
>I highly doubt that. But if you are, you are in the minority of people.
I don't get it all the time, but sometimes I do. Meanwhile in VR, I can be actively falling and feel nothing. My immersion has more to do with how into the game I am mentally than how real everything looks.

How scared I am of pits in video games is proportional to how invested I am in not falling, and the looks of something don't affect it that much.

>That's unfortunate, I hope you play it some day.
I want to, but roomscale VR is expensive and requires a lot of space, which is something I don't have.

Writing good dialogue isn't that hard once you know how to do it. Its just a matter of building the skill. I've seen plenty of people here freak out over how bad their writing is, when their writing is perfectly fine.

More importantly though, its better to try and fail then to never try at all. A bad mod or a half complete mod is better than no mod.

Reading on DRY2's progress made me remember this guy where he critiqued the whole structure post-chapter 1. He has some interesting takes that I didn't consider like having an actual progression through an RPG and it feels like DRY2 is leaning towards that which is neat.
https://greedykeeblerelf.blogspot.com/2026/03/a-critique-of-deltarune.html
Gotta say I love that we have two DRY games. I do hope DRY1 has some criminals where your only choice is to kill them because they can't really be captured or can't be put behind bars.

How so? He mostly talks about the writing and the lack of attention to make the gameplay more RPG-like, which I agree with at times, but I don't agree with his opinion on chapter 2. It's an interesting thought and maybe more people can experiment outside of the box. To that guy who said that the Asgore flowers kill all fangames. An excerpt from the Anniversary stream:

"My goal with these days wasn't to show you a new hidden truth you will never be able to access. My goal is to remind you that you have always been able to go if you just hold the key of asking what's there, what's under the bridge, what's beyond the horizon. Maybe you guys feel only my answer to these questions counts or matters. But to me, I only feel the opposite. This is just one interpretation. The underground is as big as you want it to be, and I invite you to come behind the wall with me."

Have you seen at least one (1) example of somebody saying that UTY is irrelevant now because of chapter 5? I have only seen a single troll on here and that's it.
If anything DRY got even more popularity after the chapter 5 release, I have seen any complaints more from the usual
>>
>>4027015
That was him talking about the stream, he at no point said he was talking about Deltarune. And even more importantly, the stream was a stream, Deltarune is the game. It all happens on screen, undeniably, in every normal route playthrough.
>>
>>4027033
DRY got popular because of the HMOFA anons and partly because people were disappointed with chapter 5's writing. Maybe both a blessing and a curse.
>>
>>4027021
>Also it's funny that DR seems to be heading in the exact opposite direction than the UT stream's point

poor thing, I'd get him out in one piece, I swear it!
>>
>>4027038
>Could you elaborate?
Device/Gaster simulation theory, the world outside of Hometown doesn't exist, there is nothing beyond the boundaries of the screen, and the world was created just to serve the purpose of the game and nothing more, like last thursday-ism
Proof of this is the Ch 7 Side B screen and "4 chapters" being one of the valid answers in the ARG that said "first time she smiled in her life"
>>
>>4027037
>HMOFA anons
It got popular because UTY ending sucked and many people wanted to have a good ending for Kanako and Clover. Hmofa is just a side effect. Godotanon didn't make his game for it for an example, yet a lot of people were interested in it.
>>
>>4027041
>Did it get a surge in popularity lately?
I've seen newer anons posting their impressions on DRY after chapter 5 was released. I think the more Toby release new chapters, the more people will get mixed and venture out to other fangames as a response to the quality he puts out. His music is still amazing tho.
>>
>>4027045
I meant the HMOFA anons that were clearly into Susie or Noelle and then it turned out to be yuri for chapter 5 which annoyed anons. I've seen some posts in the older threads where they checked out DRY as a response and I clearly remember one of them shitting on chapter 5 and toby.
>>
>>4027044
>last thursdayism
technically, an entire history was created on that last thursday as well, its the same as how dark world all have long and storied histories, despite being a few hours old at most. So you can fit any prequels in as fluff created to set the stage for Deltarune. You could have the prequels be created chronologically after the main game, since the whole thing is an allegory for creativity and you can create prequel stories after the story they're set before.

That aside, you can also explain these stories as other simulations run by Gaster or some other party. If you wanted to get really meta, maybe the dev can make his own self insert and have it larp as someone trying to recreate Gaster's research.
>>
>>4027043
>Having dreams about characters is cool even if it's not ones I'd expect to have dreams about?
Who did you expect to dream about?

> I'd get him out in one piece, I swear it!
Nightmare logic, the harder you try to get out, the harder escaping becomes.
>>
>>4027056
Yes but that sucks the magic of the setting for me, makes the world feels fake
Idk it is just autism in the end but it hits differently from how UT did it, even if UT did get meta it wasn't to this level so you could still separate it from the rest of the world (which is what UTY does)
>>
>>4026890
I generally agree with his main point in that Deltarune is often unfocused, proposing interesting story or gameplay premises but not quite following through or expanding upon these ideas in a fully satisfying way. I also think the same about Undertale, though it being much shorter somehow both exacerbates and alleviates this issue.
Granted, I still do like both games, I wouldn't be here if that weren't the case. I just find critiques like this to have some useful observations for fangames (or me, at least) to not repeat the same mistakes as the official games.
>>
>>4027049
>His music is still amazing tho
Eh, chapter 5's wasn't all that special. Plus DR's music isn't even all him anymore.
>>
>>4027044
NTA, but I don't see it? The Light World is probably not a simulation, it could be just Hometown that is locked off by a barrier from the outside world.

Toby clearly made so you can't buy the Lightner plushies to show that they are realer than Darkners
>>
>>4027057
>Who did you expect to dream about?
Probably Martlet since she occupies a solid percentage of my waking thoughts.
I do think Racter is really cool don't get me wrong, I just didn't expect my psyche to throw me into "Escape mission: get racter out alive".
>Nightmare logic, the harder you try to get out, the harder escaping becomes.
ah but as someone who is very very familiar with nightmares, this was clearly just a "scary dream" and not a nightmare. It didn't have that 'aura of insurmountable dread' that nightmares provide me. There was a chance for us to get out."
>>
>>4027059
>makes the world feels fake
Its not any more fake than the dark worlds. That stuff's all deadly real while you're immersed in it.

For me, its like a fantasy version of the Matrix. Sure the Matrix is technically fake, but the movies treat it more like just another location, and that's what it feels like. Plus to all the programs in it, that's as real as it gets.
>>
>>4027035
I don't see why would Toby encourage community to be creative just to snuff the most popular fangames out.

I think the whole point of the stream was so people wouldn't get the wrong idea from chapter 5
>>
>>4027067
>I think the whole point of the stream was so people wouldn't get the wrong idea from chapter 5
nta but I do agree with this, though it's still lame seeing people water down their takes out there just to line up with chapter 5. it shows the creative limits of a lot of these people.
>>
>>4027067
>I don't see why would Toby encourage community to be creative just to snuff the most popular fangames out.
Maybe he changed his mind, maybe he has different priorities when it comes to his "dream game", or maybe he just practices a bit of double think because he doesn't want to admit that he can't have his cake and eat it too when it comes to fan interpretations and on screen in game representations. Or, of course, the flowers could also not be interpretations of the humans from Undertale.

>I think the whole point of the stream was so people wouldn't get the wrong idea from chapter 5
I don't think the stream had anything to do from chapter 5. I don't think Toby intended that, and I don't think it would have even if that were his intention, its simply impossible for the two to share any real connection, the circumstances are just too different.
>>
>>4027070
I think it shows the impossibility of that statement. Its simply impossible to take the wrong idea from chapter 5, because if that was Toby's intention, then that's an idea that you *must* take from it based on how its depicted on screen.
>>
>>4027076
I find that to be nonsense. Toby, as much as I feel like he's fucked up with chapter 5 and turned me off of deltarune a good bit, grew up in the fangame community.
As much as I have mixed to negative feelings about the flowers, I think he avoided naming Yellow, Blue, Green and orange is because those are the ones that have had the biggest attempts at actually making fangames.
I don't really see the value in retreading this argument, but I think even if Toby has changed, he's still aware of that feeling he had when he was just a fangame dev himself.
>>
>>4027076
gonna clarify, that if that was his intention, then Toby is also wrong about what "the wrong idea" is, or rather that he simply doesn't want to admit it. The right idea, in this case, would be the one he claims to not want people to take.
>>
>>4027082
I that if he were trying to use the stream as a message about not letting chapter 5 tread on fan interpretations, then he's lying to himself. Like it or not, he's the author and he defines canon. Even in the most generous interpretation for fans possible, whatever is on screen in game is canon. By saying "don't get the wrong idea" he's just putting a fake solution on there to ease his conscience. It doesn't solve the problem at all, or change the way it will be read.
>>
>>4027088
>he's the author and he defines canon
and canon is a spook, a fact that any fangame dev should embrace.

>It doesn't solve the problem at all, or change the way it will be read.
it is a problem that can only be solved on the developers side by disregarding detractors. Before the streams there were already plenty of people that shit on yellow for not fitting canon even when we didn't know jack shit about potential things about the yellow soul, even from people who obviously didn't play the game and thus didn't know about Yellows potential timeline issues.
it's just how people are going to be, and Toby's statement did more good than any harm chapter 5 could have done.

He effectively stated "I don't give a shit about canon and neither should you." and he's right. No one needed The authors permission to do stupid shit with earthbound hacks back in the day so why do we need 'canon' to make things now
>>
Staying close to canon is gay.
>>
>>4027076
It's depicted on screen as flower's dream about them being humans. Their fangame might I even say.
>>4027074
He would've shown it more clearly if he didn't mean the flowers to be fallen human interpretations (It would suck if they aren't though). This is like Narachara.
>>4027088
>Maybe you guys feel only my answer to these questions counts or matters. But to me, I only feel the opposite.
>This is just one interpretation.

The Soul Fangames are one of the biggest fangames out there. He can't be pro-creativity if they are retconned. And Toby isn't even canon puritan, he is more about the vibes than hard facts, like all the story inconsistencies UT has.

That is something you can do, but at that point you're specifically disowning Deltarune and Toby. Its a big call to make, with a lot of baggage.

>detractors
the harm isn't detractors, the harm is what Toby wrote becoming the default position and everyone willingly changing their interpretation to match, without ever giving any of their own conscious thought into what it could or should be. No, this is a problem you're working up in your head. "canon purists" were the problem before and they're the problem now. We've literally had new people showing up and playing yellow and finding it refreshing after chapter 5 dropped. You are making a problem in your own head. I can relate to the snooze. That's been me most mornings lately. Been fucking up my work schedule more and more trying to linger my thoughts on dreams and stuff.

> "canon purists" were the problem before and they're the problem now.
The problem isn't people saying UTY isn't canon, its people naturally treating it, and more importantly future things like it, as AUs, especially their creators. From now, people when making things, will be doing it under the influence of chapter 5, and if they don't, it will explicitly be an AU under the influence of trying to be an AU.

but I don't think you need to take it so seriously to care about your reputation to fandom or make a show of turning your nose up at what isn't "toby-core". For what it's worth, the Rainbow Bouquet are flowers and not actual humans. People are free to draw the obvious parallels, but it isn't an open-and-shut case of "this is canon, everyone else shut up forever". And if someone does try that just tell them to fuck off. I've even tried my own spin on DRY2's Melody, changed up the name and the personality to still be a bitch but not quite the one-note brute we know so far

>>4027195
>DR is wish fullfillment for the things that didn't happen in UT.
Its been nothing but a checklist of the worst possible outcomes since chapter 4.

> Why would the flowers being literally who's make it better?
Because the flowers are awful. UT would not only be better if it were never touched by their influence, but is best when it isn't fleshed out at all. Filling in the blank space is what destroys the possibility of creativity. They shouldn't be fleshed out, and if you care about the idea of fan content you shouldn't want them to ever be officially fleshed out.

I liked Toby-core, that gold standard for things to be based on. Its what kept things from spiralling into off model unrelated insanity. There needs to be some kind of canon that people try to follow when convenient, or things devolve into complete chaos and you get a million AUs that all contradict each other and can't interact without a multiverse.

But what if DR is UT's official fangame?
>>
>>4027220
>No really, what we have now is projects working off of inertia from before chapter 5. Any new projects from here will either be colored by the "lore" from chapter 5, or AUs that actively go out of their way to intentionally break canon.
no, you've spun this idea in your head and it's wrong.
people are STILL going back and obsessing over ideas from the original undertale because it was just that impactful of a game.

>>4027180
How would it make it worse?
>>
>>4027214
>the games in progress haven't cancelled because of ch 5. Naranja is still getting made.
>undertale promise has shown no signs of quitting
>Wildfire was without updates well before this.
Those ones were started before, they aren't "more", they're what we had, and even they are doubtless going to be affected by chapter 5.

>>4027222
You can't make a fangame of your own game, that's just a sequel.

>>4027183
>I want it very much. I'm going to feed my brain some vidya for a bit to try and appease it, try to cut that off before it gets too late, and hopefully do some writing.
Understandable, I sometimes try and maintain a balance between gaming and drawing too, though I spend much more time drawing these days, even if that isn't reflected in my output.
>I can relate to the snooze. That's been me most mornings lately. Been fucking up my work schedule more and more trying to linger my thoughts on dreams and stuff.
Same here, except my sleep schedule has me waking up in the afternoons lately. Really oughta fix that soon, if I want to make the most of the time I've got left.
>Looked in the mirror the other day, recognized "I'm growing older huh" and came up with a story idea I want to do 'sometime' about being with martlet for an extended number of years.
Huh, sounds like a good idea, if you don't mind thinking about that kind of stuff.
I'm imagining Martlet seeing you grow grey hairs or something and getting worried, since I figure monsters might not necessarily know the average human lifespan off the top of their heads.
I'd say I'd think about a similar thing with my scrimblos, but I started getting grey hairs in my beard before I was old enough to drink.
I'm sure that's fine.

>That sounds very nice. Though yes the siren call of productivity is hard to ignore forever isn't it.
It's something I think about a lot, simply lying with him, enjoying each others presence in the morning or at night.
But yes, I do have to get up and actually do things, so my thoughts of my enfield husbando must be set aside.
>>
>>4027218
Those existed before, but that said, even they aren't immune to it. They could become influenced by chapter 5 or become consciously AUs, which either way would effect their writing.
>>
>>4027229
Only a month passed since chapter 5 came out, anon...
>>
>>4027220
>They made the canon horrible, thereby making anything that follows it terrible.
I kinda legitimately can't tell if you're one anon in particular, but I'm erring on the side of not, since you seem to care a whole lot about canon here.
Anon, DR is a separate universe from UT, and the flowers are just the B&B unit from MGS4 basically, they don't really imply anything about the human souls themselves, you've got it the wrong way around.
>>
>>4027229
Ok, enjoy your doom spiral then. It would be much better if you worked on making something to counter this thing that you totally think is real and not just an exaggerated non issue. People are going to keep making things. Flowers are going to have an influence, and that influence will decrease the longer that passes after ch 5.
"oh no everything is over we have nothing now."
Literally just make something.
>>
>>4027226
And you're just ignoring what I said. Even if they go back, they will do so thinking of chapter 5, either as "how might it be like this" or as "how might I make it different from that". There is no "how would the humans from Undertale be" anymore, only "how would they be, considering or rejecting chapter 5"
>>
>>4027238
>human souls themselves
He is the one who was saying that so it "wouldn't kill fangames"

It's not true though
>>
>>4027242
there's nothing of value to what you're saying.
>how would the humans from Undertale be" anymore, only "how would they be, considering or rejecting chapter 5"

i'm not entertaining this nonsense anymore. As someone that hated chapter 5 with a passion, get a fucking grip.
>>
>>4027228
recharacterizing the Cyan soul to be nothing like patience soul would be, and association with the flowers.
>>
>>4027237
That doesn't change my point at all. The inertia is still strong because its still fresh. As time goes on, it will run out and then you'll see.
>>
>>4027248
Then shouldn't Oldentale be cancelled for being "not canon"? I don't think so myself...
>>
>>4027243
Say, you're not a dev, are you?
>>
>>4027220
>There needs to be some kind of canon that people try to follow when convenient
I think your hangup here is that you're conflating personal preference with obligation. I'm not going to deny there isn't some stinkers in the AU hoard, and a fair chunk of them have separate canons within themselves. It really isn't as much of a big deal as you're making it out to be, though. There's a million AUs right now, and there will probably be a million more when we have a fully realized DELTARUNE.
>>
>>4026546
I usually despite any kind of storylines about cheating or romantic triangles in general, yet somehow the Starlo/Ceroba/Chujin thing never bothered me, I even kind of enjoyed that subplot.

My guess is that it never took too much attention away from other things going on, and it wasn't written in a way that feels fetishistic or trying to torture a particular character.
>>
>>4027251
I'm honestly not sure this guy is Oldentale anon, this guy seems way more concerned with "canon" than he ever was.
Hell, I'm pretty sure it was Oldentale anon who was trying to create a Unicron singularity *just* to change Chujin's character a bit, he doesn't seem like the kind of guy to get like this about canon.
>>
>>4027252
No, just an anon
>>
>>4027255
There is no obligation, we should follow a canon because AUs inherently damage the stories told inside them. Something being reduced to nothing but a "what if" removes its narrative weight and consistency, and makes the whole things feel small. And the only workarounds for these problems make everything a schizoprenic mess full of stupidity, like literally every multiverse story ever written.
>>
>>4027261
So, what's the point of all this then?
Trying to discourage the devs here, because their work isn't "canon"?
Because buddy, I've got news for you; they know.
None of them went into this thinking their game would be hailed as true UTDR canon, they just want to make things because they have cool ideas and they wanna show the rest of us.

So either get a grip, or get lost, cause this shit ain't helping anyone.
>>
>>4027263
Or make it self contained enough so it can survive on its own, which is what UTY kinda does (and DRY is doing)
>>
>>4027221
To each their own.
>>
>>4027258
I wasn't talking about him in particular, just that I don't think Oldentale should be cancelled

>>4027265

I have been literally doing the opposite. Chapter 5 doesn't kill fangames, simple as.
>None of them would be hailed as UTDR canon
Of course, but they can be canon compliant
>Get a grip, get lost
Anon, I am here forever...
>>
>>4027274
>I have been literally doing the opposite. Chapter 5 doesn't kill fangames, simple as.
Weren't you just doomposting about AUs and things not being "canon" or whatever?
What the fuck are you talking about?
>Of course, but they can be canon compliant
Yeah, so what's your problem?
>>
>>4027275
Anon, I was talking about the "doomposting" anon. Maybe I shouldve said NTA, but it was understandable from the contents of the post.
He is one who was saying that flowers aren't interpretations of the fallen humans, so I've clarified it to you. He didn't "get it wrong way around" because he was arguing against it.
>>
>>4027263
On the flipside, it's fun to be malleable and flexible with the ideas and setting presented to us. AUs aren't exactly serious business and they never really have been. Like there's several sub-types and interpretations of Underfell alone, some that were never archived or developed beyond having your favorite character be fucked up and evil. I don't think there's a rulebook on the Do's and Dont's of playing with your toys. At most, there's a guideline to bend and twist at your own leisure.
>>
>>4027251
If it were explicitly an AU, I would lose all love for it that I have. This story, why I wrote it and work on it, its purpose, is to make something that could fit into Undertale and be canon, even if it isn't. I don't like AUs, and can't take them seriously. But beyond that, lately I've been wondering why I bother when I've come to hate Deltarune so much. It just drags my mood down every time I see it now, and any time I think of something UT related, my mind gets dragged to whatever that part of UT was connected to in Deltarune, and it sours things again.

I don't think I can express in words how much discussing Deltarune has ruined my day lately. I can't even think straight to type this post (though I'm sure posting this is a monumentally bad idea). I still want to make Oldentale, but when I'm avoiding basically the entire fandom already and even coming here has started making me miserable because of chapter 5, I just don't know what to do.
>>
>>4027252
that's just some guy who cut in which you're replying to
>>
>>4027286
Oh, well, my bad.
Wait, so if that guy's saying the flowers *aren't* the fallen humans, what the hell is he arguing about?
>>
>>4027288
>I don't think I can express in words how much discussing Deltarune has ruined my day lately. I can't even think straight to type this pos
then literally just stop engaging in deltarune stuff.
>I just don't know what to do.
the above statement
you can't avoid deltarune existing, but the thing is, even if you stopped coming here, you'd still get exposed to deltarune. it's not going to stop, so literally just stop engaging with deltarune. Just work on your vision, make your vision come to life instead of delaying your game continuously due to something you can't control.
I know deltarune meant a lot to you, but that doesn't change what you need to do.
If someone baits you into deltarune discussion then just disengage, my feelings about undertale and deltarune are in strongly separated baskets and you should work on doing the same thing, because it's not stopping with this. it's oging to leak even more and more into the rest of your life until you manage to put it in that basket.
>>
>>4027160
Yellow was an AU since day one, though.
>>
>>4027268
UTY is not self contained. It still depends heavily on the setting and the lore in it. To make something completely self contained, you practically have to make it a completely original property, otherwise you run the risk of relying on something from canon getting rug puller or playing degrees of hitler with the bullshit in chapter 5.

>>4027287
I'm fine with it being merely guidelines rather than hard rules, but I can't enjoy it when its completely freeform fanfiction. That's how you get the worst elements of fanfiction. I want stuff that feels like a sequel, prequel, or spinoff. AUs aren't that, at least not unless you want to consider them doing it in the awful American comics way.
>>
>>4027288
Stop writing paragraphs here and go back to work. You might get something playable before Toby finishes chapter 7.
>>
>>4027291
It's clear from the post. And I don't want that anon to be upset because people assume something that he didn't say. Like one time somebody cut in to complain about why is he talking about DR so much but he was just replying to my posts

>>4027292
He argued that the flowers are not the fallen humans or else it kills fangames.
And if they are then they do kill fangames.

I an saying that they don't kill fangames
>>
>>4027297
No it wasn't, even if people pushed it into that box. It was meant to fit within canon, even if it fell short of that goal in a few places. An AU never intends to fit within canon at all.
>>
>>4027305
That's just called a canon compliant AU, but it's still an AU. Plus you yourself admit it fails to actually fit into canon anyways.
>>
>>4027304
>He argued that the flowers are not the fallen humans or else it kills fangames.
>And if they are then they do kill fangames.
Alright, well, that guy's stupid then, because they aren't the fallen humans, and they don't kill fangames no matter what.
Besides, Toby's said that all the fallen humans were kids, so the DR flowers representing the fallen humans doesn't make sense anyway, they're clearly just supposed to represent the soul traits rather than the humans themselves.
>>
>>4027300
That anon is a dev though and already has something playable
>>
>>4027300
I can't work like this. I've never been able to work when I'm feeling this bad.

>>4027296
But to completely stop engaging with Deltarune, I fear I'd have to stop engaging with fangames too, which I don't want to do. The reason I dwell on this so much is because they seem inseparable, even after cutting everything explicitly deltarune out of my life as best I can, despite it dominating almost a third of my life, I still end up running into here again and again, and I know that working on Oldentale means running into it again and again.
>>

But it tries to, that's what matters. Canon is important as a goal to aspire to, not as a state to be. Things can be inconsistent here and there, but as long as suspension of disbelief can make the stories fit together, its done its job.

In-game connections versus references only the player gets, see previous thread for B&B analogy.
It's like a more advanced version of the Homestuck cum bucket appearing in chapter 1, that doesn't actually mean anything in DR's universe, it's just a reference for the player to get, nothing more.

>>4027314
Calling the Oldentale prototype "playable" is being extremely generous

>But to completely stop engaging with Deltarune, I fear I'd have to stop engaging with fangames too, which I don't want to do.
Practice putting them in different baskets. You're going to have to practice some self improvement whether you like it or not because there's no escaping deltarune on the internet. You're beating yourself to death, not really even figuratively, because you've let everything get lumped together in a way that's destructive for yourself.
I don't mean this in a condescending way, it is imperative that you start working on those kinds of separations before it kills you.
>The reason I dwell on this so much is because they seem inseparable
nothing is as inseparable as our mind tells us it is, beyond the functions our lizard brain tells us are absolutely necessary to keep the body moving at the bare minimum.
>despite it dominating almost a third of my life, I still end up running into here again and again, and I know that working on Oldentale means running into it again and again.
you'll run into it whether it's here or not here. Life has more bad than good in it, so you have to let the bad wash over you to embrace the good or you'll be left with even less than you have now, without any decrease in misery.

you need to teach yourself that chapter 5 does not fucking matter, and to set the things you enjoy in different emotional baskets over time.I truly hated chapter 5 and let the misery of it burn inside of me before ultimately discarding those feelings and moving on. It will not ruin what was once so very important to me.
>>
>>4027314
Over six months ago. I really should have gotten more done since, but its hard to actually sit down and do this stuff, especially the programming.
>>
>>4027333
Yeah, it's stupid, but it's what he said, and if what Toby says and does is canon, then that means he's contradicting himself, so it doesn't matter to begin with.
Adhering to what Toby says, and it cancels out, don't adhere to what Toby says, and it doesn't matter.
All roads lead to the same end here.
>>
>>4027324
Not really, I feel like you were never part of an AU community, but canon compliant AUs are a well known term. It's basically just an alternative universe that tries to fit with canon even though it knows it truly can't be canon.

>>
>>4027321

>>
>>4027326
Thanks anon. I don't know how to describe what I'm feeling about Deltarune, apart from it being an infectious kind of misery that just sticks around and seeps into things. Maybe its like going through a bad break up, or maybe a really messy divorce, though I wouldn't really know, having never been involved in either.

All I do know is that this is the worst a piece of fiction has ever made me feel. Even that horrific nightmare fic that gave me heart problems didn't feel this bad. Sure it felt worse immediately, and gave me a permanent trope related phobia, but it at least went away after a day or two.

>Again, I don't think I can put them in different baskets
you can, the human mind excels at that task, it's just something you have to be willing to practice doing over time until you get good at it.
>They're just too connected and interdependent
the same way you've constructed this framework in your head over time despite the series working functionally as standalone entities. I don't need anything whatsoever I've learned from deltarune in experiencing undertale.

I mean at the start of UT she goes with "it's been a long time since a human appeared" but if we go by UTY then it has been only a year

>I don't get it?
It was a joke on memory holed because last time Toriel saw Clover he fell down a hole
>>
>>4027369
>the human mind excels at that task,
I do not have a normal human mind. Sometimes I doubt if anyone has a "normal" mind, maybe these normal traits are just an average of everybody's traits pooled together, and nobody really has all or even most of them.

I'm absolutely terrible at reclassifying things and changing the way I view them, and I hate doing it too.

>the same way you've constructed this framework in your head over time despite the series working functionally as standalone entities
First of all, demolishing and replacing a framework like that is not not only a very different task, but is monumentally harder. Second of all, they very much are connected and provide a lot of context for each other.

>you 'can' because you have the equipment to
I "can" do something, but that doesn't mean I actually can. I am painfully aware of being theoretically capable of something, but just not being able to bring myself to do it, no matter how hard I try or how much I may need to.

>you 'have to' because even if you stop coming here you're going to keep on being exposed to it.
My interest in the series isn't immortal, if I go out of my way to intentionally starve and kill it, it will die. I just don't know if I can selectively kill parts of my interest in it, at least not if that part is Deltarune.
>>
>>4027383
It could be just something she says to every human. And would she really admit she let a child die to another child she just met? If there was a kid recently, wouldn't they want to play with them, so Toriel cant ignore it?

none of us do, but the hardware is still good at certain tasks even if the programming is not in place.
The human brain is good at compartmentalizing things, you just have to let it develop that skill.
>and I hate doing it too.
yes well, I imagine that you hate all of this feeling more, and this feeling will not be going away because again, you can't escape from this sadly. You have to learn new skills.
>First of all, demolishing and replacing a framework like that is not not only a very different task, but is monumentally harder.
they are an equal task, and I never said it would be easy, just necessary. Forming a habit by definition generally involves replacing the existing habits. It's a painful and difficult process and one we do out of necessity.
>My interest in the series isn't immortal, if I go out of my way to intentionally starve and kill it, it will die.
this is the same mental process as doing what I suggested.
>>4027388
nothing wrong with that, and I know a lot of what I'm saying probably comes across as saying it's easy, but nothing like this has ever been easy for me, so I don't expect it to be easy for anyone else.

I find that "burning" my frustration often helps me return to baseline or even better, so your venting is absolutely useful for you.

>. Forming a habit by definition generally involves replacing the existing habits
Not necessarily, sometimes a habit is filling empty space.

>this is the same mental process as doing what I suggested.
No its not.

I don't want to start another fight since I'm just starting to feel better, but I am a very different person from you (as we've doubtless established) so things operate very differently between us. What may fall under a single process for you, may not for me, and what may be equivalently hard for you may be very different for me.

Washing my hands of something in its entirety has always been relatively easy for me. Its changing directions of fixing something without throwing it out entirely that's monumentally hard.

Maybe he can very carefully let the gas out of the balloons, very slowly, until he starts descending.
Or he can just pull something out of his inventory and have it spontaneously start affecting his overall weight only as soon as he takes it out, like maybe he has an anchor on him or something.

>And I don't even remember this, what?
I never played deltatraveler myself but I saw some screenshots from when it was much earlier on I think? Text boxes of noelle swearing that I heard got removed.
>>
>>4027802
I think its probably not because of chapter 5. RunoGG (or Vylette now, I don't know if that's the same person) probably just had a bunch of ideas for a fangame and decided that remaking his fangame and shoehorning in all this stuff would be better than making a new game with the ideas.
>>
>>4027807
That's ridiculous.

Considering that, from what I remember, the game was always set to cross over with Earthbound, Legend of Zelda(?), and at least 4-5 other UT AU's, you're telling me that they want to add MORE shit?
>>
>>4027809
They're probably going to remove a bunch of shit too. I don't even know if they're still doing the other games thing anymore, it may just be UT AUs, or maybe just UT and no AUs.
>>
>>4027807
I think it'd be wiser to hold off on attempting anything like deltatraveller until ch 7 is out at this point.
A symptom of that is seen with how they planned for 4-5 UT AUs but not one DR AU. That lopsidedness is probably because it's a bit hard to do AUs without the full NR to work from.
>>
>>4027810
Considering that the reason I even heard about the game in the first place was because of the Earthbound level, and how if you kill Ness first you get the "Bad Time" Paula fight, that would be crazy if they just removed the most memorable thing about their game to ONLY focus on UT AU's.

Combining patterns on the attack turn with symbols you swap out representing different fire patterns.
The Evasion behavior probably varys by the soul too much to say for sure. Avoiding behavior like the green square in geometry dash is the first thing that comes to mind.
Main flaw is it either is too rng or too deterministic (once you know the pattern that hits the most often why would you use any other pattern?) for the effort put into something that is basically a whole combat system.

Sure, if you want to get banned and give ABIB ammo to ban us next week.
>>
>>4028410
I'm not forgetting anything, he should learn another way to communicate then instead of just leaving the project because a chat program disbarred him (or literally just make a new account they can't fucking stop you).
>>4028363
>For a lot of people, they have basically nothing outside of social media. Depending on where you live and your employment status, it may really be the only place to interact with people.
Possibly, but the majority of people live in big population centers and became overly internet exposed during lockdowns and all that shit.
>>

Again, since I need to recap...
>Shartys mass reported the TS dev's account to Discord and got him banned on false reports
>What's worse is that he tried appealing this to Discord's staff, who "looked into it" and upheld the ban despite it being proven false
>I believe this means any server he made gets deleted, and of course he can't use Discord at all anymore
This likely cut him off from contacting many of his online friends, and he hasn't been able to work on any projects since (which includes TS!Underswap).
>>
>>4028521
yes, and the picture you are painting is of someone too retarded to make use of the other social media acccounts that they have to contact people who knows he has said other social media accounts
>>
>>4028521
And I might as well post the attempted ban appeal. If I were to give some advice, they should probably try to keep appealing, especially if they know they did nothing wrong.

>>
>>4028521
>Again, since I need to recap...
You really dont need to.
This would have been solved by
>making the dev server private
>just making a new account
>using secondary collaboration tools like gamejolt

>This likely cut him off from contacting many of his online friends
"Hey guys, invite my alt lmao. Discord is being mad (whatever insult the youth approve of these days)."
Its not even an unrecoverable situatuon at this very moment beyond the dev going into despair over avoidable and fixable problems.
>>
>>4028527
I don't think the meltdown over at bluesky was due to JUST the ban, I bet he is also being harassed by the UTDR fandom since that is a common trend I've noticed with fanworks in general if you don't cut all contact as soon as you can
>>
>>4028529
>I bet he is also being harassed by the UTDR fandom since that is a common trend I've noticed with fanworks in general if you don't cut all contact as soon as you can
What?
Cut contact with who and why? The drama I see going on in this fandom is half assed and weak. This makes things even more pathetic. He probably had mental issues to start with and just got worse. Yeah people in this wretched fanbase will LOOK for things to make drama over, but if they find it they take it public to try and get shitty clout, like what was attempted against mastersword.
>>
>>4028521
Someone should tell him about XMPP or Matrix
>>
Just happened to be searching through reddit for research into Discord bans and randomly stumbled on Beeth posting in the same thread. Apparently he's had the account for at least 10 years and likely had years of old convos stored on there. He got banned for two counts of "safety violations" and apparently Discord filters most appeals through AI or some human who doesn't care.
>inb4 use an alt
His alt was also banned so it's likely they have a way of tracing them.
>>
>>4028316
You could look at the AI for Twinkle Star Sprites or Touhou's "Phantasmagoria" games (head-to-head versus shmups) and see how it reacts. The most basic thing you could do is have it dodge everything until a threshold at which point it lets itself get hit, or give the player an ability that when used correctly leaves the enemy with nowhere to dodge.
>>
I should really have a way to contact my team in case Gamejolt ever goes south for whatever reason. I know there's here, but that's pretty unreliable.

>>4028537
>>inb4 use an alt

>His alt was also banned so it's likely they have a way of tracing them.
yeah probably letting the wrong people known it's his alt so that he can be reported, which goes back to the public server issue.
Anyways redditor and discord problems.
>>
>>4028542
NTA but if I had 10 years worth of history erased than I would be sad too. I am still sad that my friends' server was deleted wiping everything posted away
>>
>>4028538
Maybe if it's a human soul you're fighting that threshold is pretty low the first time you're fighting but the more they die and come back the more that threshold rises until they're doing a No hit on (You).
>>
>>4028545
yeah it sucks to lose that but it also is a fools errand to use Discord as your only storage medium for important information. Anything you can't live without or that would cause you significant grief to go without, should not be backed up only once, and especially not a single time under a corporations control.
>>
>>4028548
Yeah that's true. You'll think it won't happen to you until it does when you least expect it. It's something that you learn to do after you already have experienced it happening.

Having something gone forever sucks because you'll never be able to get it back no matter how hard you try. And that guy probably has already a lot of other things and that was only the final straw.

Especially if you focus on trying to remember the past that much so it consumes the present itself
>>
>>4028553
that's exactly it. I wont say I'm without sympathy at all because hey, I really do understand, that shit sucks. and I have personally lost 10 years worth of effort of a kind that kind be 'backed up' before so I understand the amount of suffering such a feeling can cause , but this kind of thing is preventable, and surmountable.
>And that guy probably has already a lot of other things and that was only the final straw.
this is probably the reality of it though. Even "getting help" as he said he was, is no guarantee of the quality nor the timeliness of the help, nor do we know how far along this person was in their breakdowns at any given point.
>>
>>4028421
I think it's more specifically
>being the focus of too many UT/DR fans causes psychic damage
The herd isn't affected by their own psionic field, but if one of them produces a notable fan work and gets the attention of the herd it gets angled toward them like the sun through a magnifying glass. You can avoid it by not engaging with the herd, which is why Toby is mostly silent and why DRY1anon is fine for now, but if you look then your mind is opened to forces focused on you.
>>
>>4028563
some kind of highly focused autism powered death ray huh?
>>
>>4028558
>surmountable
Yes, of course. He'll get over it eventually, but in the moment it still sucks and feels like a part of your soul was ripped out.

Sometimes you want somebody to share the pain you experience instead of keeping it all in yourself. Having a meltdown on twitter isn't the best of course, but the sooner he gets it out of the system the sooner he will get back to normalness.

Like that guy who was sad about chapter 5 affecting fangames, and he got better after he talked out the things that were bothering him
>>
>>4028571
>Having a meltdown on twitter isn't the best of course, but the sooner he gets it out of the system the sooner he will get back to normalness.
suicide baiting is a little more than just "getting it out of the system.",
He's acting a fool and most of it can probably be recreated, because I'm highly doubting the source code for their entire project was stored in a single chat with himself and himself alone.

And you’d be right
I can’t find the exact post but there’s a whole rant he made basically saying how shit his life had been for the past few years or so, and it’s more that the discord and UT/DR stuff just added onto that
Reminder that ts!underswap almost looked like it was gonna get cancelled because of some vindictive faggots trying to cancel him + harry and larry being designed by a tranny pedo
Does that automatically make any of this less stupid? Nah, because it’s the most ‘get off the internet’ shit ever but I get it

Yeah, I think I jumped the gun because while the herbivore ones are more front and center among their casts (ex. official Dreemurrs and Holidays, Luna and her parents from Wildfire, Wiki from Oldentale, Sirra and Ruby from Broken Destiny, Melis from shitty cancelled Green fangame, Mei from should've-been-a-comic cancelled Purple fangame), there's also quite a few carnivore mammals right behind them (Anser from Wildfire, that adult fox woman from Mei's game, Kitsy from Oldentale, probably more I'm forgetting), and of course non-mammals that are overwhelmingly carnivores (ex. Undyne/Alphys/Muffet from canon, the entire UTY/DRY cast is either this or mammal carnivores, Quetzali, probably more I'm forgetting).

I've noticed how fangames that manage to pierce the veil like Deltatraveler, TS!Underswap and Undertale Yellow get raked through the coals for years, even after their time in the limelight is long over. Might play a part into why there's rarely any fullgame fangames

>>4028644
Here's the thing, no one on here cares much about the fangames outside /v/, except for maybe Wildfire and Futility. There's dozens of other fangames you never hear about on 4chan because they all suffer from the same issue of inactivity.
Speaking of DRY, I would hope that DRY1anon can start posting gameplay webms again like he used to.
>>
>>4028652
>No one really paid attention when a playthrough was posted to one of the threads. The most attention it got on here was the reaction to some pride month art.
I remember responding to the posts and talking about it.
>Here's the thing, no one on here cares much about the fangames outside /v/
I don't think that's really the case. there's 2 games that kind of got no traction but lost deltarune had a handful of people talking about it, Soulblazers comes up frequently, Frostveil has come up several times and I'm still planning on trying it myself.
Someone is playing through shades of justice 'right now' as well.
Hell, Deltatraveler stirred up a lot of discussion recently and a little bit back even before it's "reboot" or whatever they are calling it.

>Speaking of DRY, I would hope that DRY1anon can start posting gameplay webms again like he used to.
I want to say he posted one not that long ago last time someone brought that up actually.

>gluttony forces her to eat an item every battle to avoid debuffs. later in the game she goes after the enemies since she's been pigging out in the light world and now its catching up with her.
>sloth forces her to constantly rest, otherwise the HP/TP buffs will be turned into negatives. also forces her to go second, can stack to give enemies two free turns

It would take some creativity to make a UTY section in a hypothetical Deltatraveler Yellow not be derivative of regular Deltatraveler (my idea for that is to set it in a post-pacifist-UTY Steamworks and make the protagonists confront the fact that Cole's counterpart is dead and possibly that he killed Kanako's mother right before dying), but sticking Melody in UTY after her counterpart died and putting her face-to-face with the Ketsukanes is instant drama

Give the gear absolutely shit stats in gameplay and fake max stats in the menu to represent the Dunning-Kruger effect.

All healing items in that dark world are temporary, and your HP slowly returns to what it was before to represent how greed is impossible to satisfy, also paywalls out the fucking ass through the entire dark world.

I was just going by like how in UT you can genocide or mercy, so the justice soul seeking justice has a thematic fit in a loose "you are the judge" sense. And in DR there is a lot of duplicity going on with Kris along with how everyone is hiding secrets from each other or putting on facades (Noelle hiding her true feelings, Susie's bully facade, the general deception that a lot of dark worlds have going on as they lure people basically) and I noticed an integrity soul contrasts that.
>>
>>4029047
Hometown as a whole potentially being a facade (Happytown) in ways UT's underground clearly wasn't also, I don't know if it's even possible to make any UTY level fangame until all of DR is out so maybe it isn't a facade (just ignore the blatant goner interference or other weird shit like the internet being out or the Ferris wheel not even letting you see the lake that so heavily hints at this).
>>
>>4029001
yes
>>
>>4029047
DR fangames are better when you develop things that couldn't be in UT version though, since you already have a cast of people instead of having to come up with all new OCs, people aren't going to be as attached to them unless your game already got popular
>>
>>4027817

>>
>>4029243
Martlet is Berdly's aunt though. And it doesn't, at least yet. Although its unlikely to ever actually happen in DRY
>>
I feel like it's a bit pointless to even do any UTY-level thing with DR without knowing the whole story of DR. The reason UT has all these AUs and DR doesn't is it usually needs a whole timeline unless you're super confident in a fan theory being correct (like with device theory). UT had it out of the box while DR still has 2 more chapters. UTY did have a different plot from UT despite having the same route options so maybe I'm overestimating the need for that.

Shit anon, sorry to hear that. Didn't realize it stayed off. Hope it goes back to normal soon

True, but if anything DRY is UTY's Deltarune instead of being Deltarune but Yellow. So it can get away with having some inaccuracies

Can anyone explain to me how the Touhou and Cartoon Horse Program fandoms are so cracked in regards to fanworks compared to every other fandom? Did they manage to attract the exact strain of autism that can consistently make cool shit? Do japanese lawyers give that little fucks about the doujin market? Are kids these days just not good at making fangames? Am I too old?

Me just picturing Clove being uneasy as hell about asgore and his flower shop.

Yeah, I'm hoping things improve soon.
For the time being, I'm simply lying in bed, in the dark, feeling an unfathomable amount of rage at not being able to work on my drawings.

Cole? Why would he be uneasy about him? He'll probably would try to help him investigate the INCIDENT.
I am kinda sad that DRY1 doesn't include any detective elements or minigames, that would fit in perfectly.

Has me think of Melody/whoever as a super loyalist that takes things further than you expect them to. Like you say "hug" but they then give that character very deep and overbearing hug.
You say push and they shove them.
