Fuck man, i wish they'd rip off world edit and maybe faction customizer instead. Hell ripoff Rimwar and Rimempire too, something to let me build a real faction and actually make the faction map make a bit more sense instead of one base and trying to escape or ascend to godhood or someshit, honestly in-game not so bad living on the planet once you really get it up and running, on this planet you're basically a goddamn king.

We reworked many systems to spread out their workload. The pathfinding system is now fully multithreaded and batched, and the lighting system is also multithreaded to make it much faster. There were lots of optimizations made to caravan foraging calculations, egg-laying pawns, alerts, hauling, animal pen calculations, as well as fixes to several major memory leaks.

>>
>>2065849
Dude you don't need a tutorial you need to turn on your brain. You have the option to look at core items such as slave strap or terror sculpture and copy and potentially increase their effects. (That won't help you with inevitable prison breaks and slave riots since they're handled separately in vanilla and you could add a negative multiplier for this implant for that incident.) You have the option to download one of the gorillion mods in similar intention and reverse engineer how they did it. You also have the option to check their forums for literal modding tutorials and they have a lot of those.
You instead decided to ask in this slow ass thread on this slow ass board.

>You have the option to download one of the gorillion mods in similar intention and reverse engineer how they did it.
the problem with that is that cracking open anything more complex than a basic XML mod is going to immediately confuse someone new to modding, another big problem is the wiki guides, the ones people will find first, are honestly quite bad, all over the place and incomplete

Got this game on Steam a few years ago and was filtered, then got a refund.
Got it again today, filtered again, requested another refund (only an hour of playtime on this second purchase), but Steam seems to count my additional hour of playtime cumulatively with the 2 hours I played years ago. So between the two purchases, my account has a total of 3 hours which they consider too much for their refund policy.
I challenged this, but it seems like I might be stuck with this game.

Tips for enjoying this game?
I'll probably only be running vanilla (as in no DLC and probably some mods)
>>
>>2071870
Install Character Editor
Create yourself,
or your family and friends if you're a normie
Play as sims on basebuilding difficulty
Or 500% if you're ok with having family murdered, die to exposure/diseases and/or kidnapped.
What exactly filtered you?
>>
>>2071870
If you write to Steam and explain your situation, you might still get the refund
>>
>>2071924
Yeah, they rejected my second refund request.
I'm assuming it's an automatic thing because they got back to me within 2 hours.
I'll try going through a different channel than the refund request form.

>>2071923
I don't want to admit it, but probably the learning curve.
And then it also seems like so much of the fun is in the DLCs, so the first time I bought it I was thinking "aw man, this is actually going to be a 100+ dollar investment if I want the full experience"
And also the art style.

Honestly I don't think it's my kind of game at all, but I've gotten memed into playing it twice by seeing friends and people having fun with it.

I wish Tynan would stop trying to pretend that Archeotech isn't just magic.
>>
>>2075820
Don't see why you wouldn't. It's one of the promised features of the grasslands zones. High wind, sparse rain, easily spreading fires. I think a stone path three tiles wide is still enough to stop fire from crossing. And nothing's quite as good as a river to protect a side of your base.
>>
>>2075844
By that logic everything can be story generator. Please tell me, that you are aware of that.
>>
>>2071955
1.) You should have pirated the game first instead of just throwing money at Tynan, this lets you test out the game before wasting like.. 30 bucks on it.

2.)Install some mods for QOL, when i pirated it i realized i should install better AI mofs because pathfinding and ai could fucking suck. I recommend a better ai pathfinding mod, a common sense mod, and Achtung to control pawns easier in combat.

3.) reroll your three pawns till you get one good at plants, cooking, and building and/or mining someone with some decent medicine is good too. Build traps around your base and chokepoints to filter enemy raids and rogue animals.

4.) I recommend starting in a mountain mainly because you basically have your walls around you already.

Does anyone have a good idea for a Nausicaa style techno-medieval playthrough? I'm thinking of using World edit and that faction editor mod to make that's mostly deserts and dangerous wood biomes and shit but theres some small pockets of actually habitable land. Maybe even Cherry Picker to put out most spacer age and some industrial age stuff. Faction edit to make it so all the factions have medieval style dress but with revolvers and shit.

Then maybe vehicles and airships to make travel easier. Thinking of going for an evil wizard faction playthrough, like a force of psycasts and their minions who rock up to a settlement and take people and their knowledge for their wicked experiments.
>>
>>2077168
>take people and their knowledge for their wicked experiments
Is there any mod where that's actually a thing you can do? Do experiments on captured pawns for research, or some benefits? I think Anomaly does something similar, but not interesting enough.
The closest mod I can think of is the Lovecraft one if you go for the King in Yellow, since he lets you sacrifice pawns for research, but that's not nearly enough.

>>2077304

I will just install the mod to prevent this tile mechanic. If they don't adjust it themselves eventually. If the tile comes back after 30 days or so that would already be fine. The ritual and forced cooldown means you can't easily send one pawn out with it to trade. The range is also not great and it seems to be a chemfuel guzzler. Wait till you find out about what happened to the price of food in the past 10 years. Oh and housing. Weirdly furniture and clothes are now 'cheaper' but it's near impossible to find solid wood furniture (pressed laminated reclaimed cardboard bed costs 1000$?) and the thread count in cloth of most clothes is a fraction to what it was 10-20 years ago, a free T-shirt I got from some sports game decades ago has 4x the threadcount of a 'quality' 20$ Tshirt I bought this year.

I agree with anomaly being so low. It could really use a redesign. IIRC the option to tone it down was added later when a ton of people complained about it. For a self proclaimed big shot game designer who even wrote a book about it the dev is really fucking clueless about some basic things.
>>2103759
It is the most aggressive DLC as it really wants to make the entire game about itself and is clearly designed around that. You can tune it down, but that is clearly a half assed cope measure for the people who paid money and don't want to feel ripped off.
>>
>>2108475
Meine neger, Tynan wrote the book on game development before the game even came out. His only track record before that in the industry were a couple of fan made custom maps for an FPS. Well, why not? I don't really use turrets. Nothing wrong with them I just prefer a more flexible frontline and no friendly uranium bolts to the back of my head. Second I like mixed unit tactics, solid line of those can stop just about anything and having some specialized mobile squads covers most situations.

>wealth
Yeah, that can be a bitch but it caps out. Even with randy it's about max 20k points in vanilla-ish which is in worst case scenario about 60-ish centipedes. The way ody treats your ship and the way adaptation tanks because you "took" damage by leaving all that wealth when you "abandoned" your colony just makes it easier. Before ody having squads of dedicated suicide bombers and shotgunners helped mitigate adaptation just fine.
Also feels nice to be able to build exactly how you want and pave your entire colony in marble silver and jade (if that's what you want of course) and not worry about getting fucked over the value of your floors alone.

I think I've had rewards from 20% of refugees that visited. 30% of them betrayed. This was the first time in maybe 100 refugee groups I hosted that I got something good and not 400 seal leather or a masterwork shortbow.

I usually take them on, order them to drop their weapons and have them do cleaning or hauling because I'm always short on basic laborers.

its one of the few things that sort of only happens organically
they've got to have a good opinion of each other so they need to spend time around one another, have compatible personality traits (or just not have incompatible ones), be beautiful if their personality/ideoligion allows that, and be relatively close in age
so outside using the psycast that forces relationships or abusing the psychic bond gene its basically out of your hands besides trying to schedule people to be around each other and spamming the romance button under social to keep rolling for specific pairings

If there is a reason you don't have your kids restricted to a particular zone, like most irl parents, I can not figure it out.

>>
>>2090538
No.
Getting the plasteel for an anchor is a bit much (have not gotten it on any of my saves yet), but once you do there should be no problem to taking off and raiding with you warship while your farm slaves stay trapped in your mountain fortress hideout with your mechanoid defenders.

Doing it with desert space wizard tribals that think they are the new gods of the world should be fun too.
>>
>>2123402
Plasteel is easy enough to get with traders and deep drills. Having to hop back every so often because 99.9.9.9.9% of the raids hit your anchor base is THE real pain in the ass.
>>
>>2123473
Traders is mostly not a thing for me. All I get is tribals or the damn tithe collector.

Once you have deep drills and ground penetrating radar to target the plasteel, all the fun of raiding is gone. Just stay home and have the slaves work the drills.

And if you say orbital traders I will point to the deep drill and ground penetrating radar paragraph above.

They really need to lower the amount of plasteel required for the anchor.

Not bad.
Kinda fun new way to build a faction. The nomad thing is cool. What I would really like is some hide walls that give 100% back when deconstructed.
Then I could make tribal Mongols.

Doesn't work too well with other DLC.

Biotech is too bulky for ships. Royalty also too much sitting around and large rooms to fit in ships. Anomaly, I am still trying to test out, but the monolith being singular and immovable makes it interact badly. Ideology, of corse depends on which you use.
>>
>>2134649
as advertised not really
doing a gravship centric run is fun like once before you figure out what everything does and how to cheese it
outside of a dedicated run a small gravship is nice for when you're sending people exploring with the caveat being that even with the new landmarks and loot rumors you aren't getting that much
more than the other dlc this is very much a wait for mods to flesh it out situation or you're buying it for the other aspects like map features
I can appreciate that there was a lot of work being done under the hood for 1.6 but when they're listing more animals and more quests in the features list you can tell its a bit barren

the gestators are a pain, but you can get a moderate mech complement without too much trouble if you just make a batch of subcores and then deconstruct the scanners. steel is easy to get with the gravship anyway.

and a small mech charger and a couple of vacs and lifters takes a lot less space than having pawns running around everywhere sweeping and hauling
