is an all-in Spirit build playable on anyone? i remember a screenshot of a Kylie "spirit shredder" build a few threads back but no further discussion
>>2104322It works pretty well on Kylie and Ray, and decently on Alisa. I've never tried it on Heixing or Giselle. The effects are hard to comprehend just by reading the masteries because so much of it looks like conditional nonsense, but in practice a build like that ends up evasive as fuck with insane accuracy and speed, and pretty good damage and HP. With postgame masteries they also spam buffs on themselves like nobody's business.
Okay, first playthrough done, have a meme. The last mission took 2 tries. On the first one I only had Misty and Heixing left against the tankiest destron and they weren't gonna even scratch him, so I cheesed him by running away in circles until he ran out of fuel. On the second try I killed them fairly. 60V is much easier.

Which character in the game would be the most likely to actually play Troubleshooter?
>>2108419Misty, but that's too easy. Other than her...Heixing I guess.
Anyone else play other games, read the writing, and wonder how the hell Troubleshooter is the poster child for bad writing? Yes, Troubleshooter has its issues, but so many games are so much worse, and few are actually better.
>>2108804Who said Troubleshooter has bad writing?I could understand thinking the prose is bad because it's an awkward translation, so sometimes the sentences sound weird. But the plot and characterization is pretty good I think.I appreciated how most of the characters felt more "realistic" than your typical anime-style game. Most of the time each character has an assigned trope, a backstory if they're lucky, and that's their character. Especially in strategy games with a big roster. Fire Emblem is the worst for this.In Troubleshooter they felt more like real people to me. Especially the characters from Alley. Irene is probably the silliest, and if she's all the way on that end of the spectrum then that shows how down-to-earth the characters are overall.
>>2108804The main issue with Troubleshooter's writing is that the translation is noticeably subpar. Some people wildly exaggerate how bad it is, especially since most of the really bad lines have been fixed ages ago, but it's still not great by any measure. Aside from that, I'd say the story itself is decidedly above-average for a video game. Not zOMG TEH BEST but quite good nonetheless. Despite being an entirely unrealistic setting it feels grounded in-context, and it has just enough complexity to give it some appeal beyond the immediate face value. Maybe it could do with fewer flashbacks and side-stories, but at the same time those do add some extra depth and flavor to the setting in a way you wouldn't get from a purely linear single-perspective story.
>>2108994>Some people wildly exaggerate how bad it is, especially since most of the really bad lines have been fixed ages ago, but it's still not great by any measureyou can see this a lot especially around the Joel flashback parts. I cant remember what cutscene it was in particular but I could tell that the original text was clearly attempting to phrase things in several ways but was directly translated in a way where characters just kept repeating themselves.
>>2108804The writing is fine. That mega faggot on RPGCodex who wrote that it's "badly written" was just doing so to keep his credentials intact on a site that notoriously hates anything anime related and dismisses all games containing anything resembling it out of hand, no matter how good the actual gameplay and content is. So the guy writing the review just dismisses all the aesthetic and storytelling elements because the gameplay is so awesome he still wants to play it and get other people on that godforsaken site to play it, so he hyper focuses on it in his review. The game is actually pretty damn good writing wise, it explores its themes and sets up its characters and world quite well. Every single major protagonist is dealing with abandonment in some form and I felt the game did a good job differentiating in how each one handled it. And Pascal was the perfect final villain for the game, as the world had utterly abandoned him altogether and his response was to become an absolute monster that betrayed everything he stood for, which contrasted him quite nicely with the heroes who handled the same rejection in better ways. Except Albus, of course, who will one day cause Ragnarok.
>>2108804honestly anything even tangentially anime related gets religiously shat on by faggots that want to seem mature and cultured. The best example of this is how hard disco elysium gets sucked off despite having similar overall level of quality to an eastern VN.

>>2109410
>>2109410Albus will take the mask of a spoonist.
>>2109224He's literally talking about himself
>>2109435>He's literally talking about himselfI'm glad someone else pointed this out, although I think doesn't refer to just one person. It refers to Sharky, and Albus, and Valhalla in a metaphorical way. It's a good line, it says something about both the speaker and the target, is relevant to the game's themes, and gives nuance to the game's conflicts. One of many examples of why I think this game's writing is very underrated.
>>2109435He's comparing Albus to himself; his statement applies to both of them equally.Sharky:>leader of the spoonists>well respected figurehead among his kind who supports those who've been abandoned by everyone else>was planted into the role by Edward and replaced the original Sharky>falls to Carter who in turn takes over his mask and replaces himAlbus:>leader of [Your Company]>well respected Troublehooter hailed as a hero after the subjugation of White Tiger>deliberately and almost exclusively takes on dangerous cases that accelerate his climb through the ranks in order to gain access to government files about the catastrophe from 10 years ago>hides a cold and calculating personality beneath his nice guy maskThey couldn't have made the connection any more apparent.

>>2111606>Not really feeling it desu, the green lipstick's not doing it for meYeah, it's not good. >>2111606That's a downgrade.
>>2111606Thats a serious downgrade from the concept art.I dont even really dislike the lipstick and contact lenses as an idea, but the color just clashes too much with her uniform. I would rather Dandy picked a color that matched with her, and maybe gave her a more controlled haircut/wig.
>>2111562But that's a womanlet with big tiddies.
>>2111987It's both the neon green color + her mouth is too wide with the lipstick. It makes it look like she applied it wrong and she's the Joker or something. Blue eyes + red lipstick goes better with her color scheme, and her mouth could be drawn smaller like this to emphasize the parts of her lips that have the lipstick on.
>>2112023This looks way better, but I still don't get why they turned the hot soldier chick into a girl that uses contact lenses, a wig and makeup to attend to her military duties.
>>2111606Actually hideous. First design I have actively, completely hated with every fiber of my being. She looks like a burnt out crack whore hitting her late 30s. Her original look was way, way better than that. What the fuck are they thinking?
>>2112023Still looks terrible. Also really hate the whole "I wear a wig and colored contacts when engaging in battle", it's beyond retarded. This design is bad enough that it's making me have reservations about the game as a whole.
Noticed her fringe's brown, makes me think they originally planned her to have dyed her hair blonde. No clue why they went the wig thing, it's a pretty odd design choice.Really curious that she went through such a drastic redesign, the first draft we got of her was already fully rendered.
>>2112523I miss her already.
>>2112523It wouldn't make sense for her to dye her hair then un-dye it at home and re-dye it the next day. They should just have the new casual outfit turn into this one but without the brown fringe. They both look good, it's the new uniformed look that's a problem. If they don't match that's even better, it'd exaggerate how she's becoming a different person when she puts on her "armor".

>>2116979Some other fun things:>That Giselle killed the DLC2 mission with just her and one other person before my teammates even arrived, normally Vigor would be a problem for that but the board sustains her by itself>That Heixing is great with an Anne White Mage backpack fueling his Impulse Fields and giving him more turns, the entire point is he gets his turn back off the reaction attacks which lets him spam Fixed Stance Sweeping Fire off of Re Mop-Up, very fun build
>>2116979you absolute madman, much appreciatedmight be time for an all-in ESP/Spirit playthroughfeels uncanny to see you post builds without Tough Spirit :DD
>>2118194ESP builds are strong on nearly everybody. I'd carve out some caveats for Wind Albus outside of Limit Break, and I haven't played around with Ice Leton much. I've made strong and fun builds for everybody else.>no Tough SpiritPanic/Confusion are mental debuffs, right? Diligent Worker's immunity to those covers that. I find those effects to rarely be a problem even without it, situationally relevant for sure but I'm always hungry for fun synergies and I really like Bounding Stride too.
>>2118200Confusion's not classified as a mental debuff, but almost no enemies inflict it so it doesn't matter. The main reason to run Tough Spirit or mental immunity is so you don't get Surprised/Contraction'd by Mungos.

I'm thinking of getting this game while it's on sale. Never played Xcom or any Xcom-likes but I am a fan of both strategy and RPG games. Any reason why I wouldn't like this?
>>2130539>Any reason why I wouldn't like this? It's much more story- and character-based than similar games, with lots of cutscenes and flashbacks and stuff like that. Plus it's super linear. You can always go back and replay missions as much as you want, and some missions have alternate paths, but the main narrative is 100% on-rails. The start of the game is also arguably the worst part of the game, since the story takes a while to get going, lots of mechanics don't open up until later, and you've got a tiny squad so you get lots of missions with shitty generic police units filling out your team, which just isn't much fun IMO.If none of that is a dealbreaker for you it's definitely worth playing.

>>2133920You get access to more than just cops with guns. You also get riot shield cops, and Payday 2 Cloakers. Plus a named police unit that helps in a fair amount of missions.
>>2133920eventually you get the only female NPC in the game as swat members. They suck ass though because their death screams are too erotic so you start suiciding them into enemies to hear it
>>2133982>not using the strikers to knee Houcheng in the balls until he fucking diespathetic
>>2130539>Any reason why I wouldn't like this?None.
>>2133982>They suck ass thoughENTER
>>2134175Midgame VHPD are such chads. Once the Suppressors promote to Rangers they get Cover Move which you'd never notice without reading their board since they lack Base Defence, but if you have them conceal against cover it works. It's extremely cheesy on the sniper defence training map because pretty much everyone except the Strikers and Guardians will try to range them and fail.
>>2134175Hag threesome with Jane and Giselle!
>>2134362How many teen male troubleshooters has jane "kept on custody" for some steamy interrogatory room sex and molestation?
>>2134428she no longer rapes teens after she met albusnow he is jane and giselle's weekend stress reliefsee this cutscene cg? Yeah that's from albus' perspective
>>2134534Bianca is on the other side of that glass, screeching like a cat wanting to be let in.
>>2134911All the sparkly drops on the glass are actually splashback from the waterfall in her pants that occurs when she's near Miss Giselle
>>2134534Seeing jane's arm i tought albus was under the table.
>>2127480Making fires in school = arsonLifting girl's skirts in school = sexual harassmentboth of those are serious criminal acts deserving of paramilitary ball-kicking
>>2135705God you have no idea how much i want irene to kick me in the balls till i fucking die.
>>2135705Sex with female ESP users
>>2135705Arson is based and heroic when Irene commits it.Also you cant convince me that Bianca doesnt use her wind ESP to try and lift Giselle's dress up on the daily.
>>2135268He is. But that is simply because he is hiding from the IRS.
