Booted up Master of Mana again (a submod for Fall from Heaven 2 for Civ 4), and damn, this shit is fun as fuck. So much to discover, so many little details. But sometimes confusing as well.My vampire militaristic empire is doing well, currently preparing an invasion of the Bannor. A shame that the early game can be so annoying with hordes of undead, orcs and goblins swarming you from every side.
Master of Mana is kind of shit because it introduces non-standard systems and barbs too stronk. Plus it's hilariously easy to win religious victory. I sat on my starting corner as Bannor never exploring or meeting much anyone and then hit the ritual.
>>2116950Can't really give any good counter-arguments. Master of Mana is, for me at least, the best mix out of features, factions and content compared to all the different submods, and therefore got a permanent spot on my hard drive. What are your guys favorite factions?
what's the best submod for a vanilla+ playthrough? been forever since I played, I remember back in the day there was a Better Naval AI submod that people recommended to improve AI that came with a few other balance/bug fixes iirc
>civ4 btsfag>never played FFH family of mods>want to, but can't make sense of which mods are currentwhere do i start with all this?
>>2117286Just start with the basic FFH2 mod, it's great as it is. Once you've explored it enough you can start adding in modmods (as they call them) which are made by fans of the mod and add stupid shit like a hamster faction to mix things up, if you really want. You could consider MNAI which iirc is just an AI upgrade as the default FFH2 AI doesn't know how to make naval landings.
>>2117286I think Master of Mana is as good as anything. It's also one of the most, if not the most recent. There is a complete install for it, the regular FFh2 is not needed. And contrary to what >>2117297 said, there is nothing stupid or silly in that mod.
For me? It's the Sheaim.>conquer city>LIGHT THE PYRES>conquer city>LIGHT THE PYRES>conquer city>LIGHT THE PYRES>conquer city>LIGHT THE PYRES>conquer city>LIGHT THE PYRES>conquer city>LIGHT THE PYRES
>>2117523Back when I discovered this mod, I was playing it on a laptop, that surely wasn't a gaming laptop. Game and mod was running fine, but when playing the Sheaim and getting that doomsday counter up, all these fire and smoke effects would crash the frames and make it unplayable. It was mostly on spot that weren't settled. I just couldn't look at them.I guess they lore-accurately crashed my game as well.
Extramodmod is the best one. It's a continuation of the more naval AI modmod with very good balance and leader tweaks. It still feels like og ffh2 but feels more polished.
>Elohim use their ability and now their remaining realm is protected from any hostile units>for 30 turns>30 fucking turnsThere is an army of bloodthirsty high level vampires sitting in front of their walls. What the fuck are they supposed to do now?Might as well declare peace, pack my shit and aim for the other remaining faction. But it will probably take at least 30 rounds before that colossal army even manages to get there.
>>2117939>he didn't early war Elohim to trigger their wallClassic mistake.
>>2117286extra modmodit's original ffh2 + ai and balance improvements
Holy shit, that got annoying at the end.Decided to go for the Grigori instead while the Elohim were hiding behind their walls. Crushing that civilization caused the Armageddon counter to go to 100 (building the tower of necromancy certainly helped). Was expecting that the game would just end. But instead:>an avatar of wrath appears, sending my armies into a rage, going into whatever direction to kill something>the avatar was killed unceremoniously by a harlequin I got from defeating the Balseraphs>the Armageddon also just offed most of my units>had to rebuild most of my army while a ragtag group of three vampires + 20 skeletons makes a track through the desert>more and more vampires drop their rage, some eternal lords get killed and resurrected in my capital>slowly, rebuild my forces and ship them over to finish the Elohim off>except one of the apocalyptic riders was sitting on the shores where I landed, and sending my whole armies into a rage again>everyone is going into whatever direction aimlessly and withering away with plagued and dying>including the ships>who lose to drakes and griffins and sink the vampires with them>remember: vampires can't swim>the ragtag group somehow makes it through the desert and declares war on the Elohim>slowly gather whatever vampires starts making sense again>Elohim were busy jerking off in the jungles, only one city heavily defended with golems and archmages>but lategame vampires brokenWhatever I play next, it shall be of good alignment and chill.
Fun.

qrd on ashes? ive been fucking around with a lot of these modmods, but ashes just looks like a it threw a bunch shit in
>>2127712Ashes has the most of silly civs in it but at least it also has the option to prevent them from being picked randomly by AI. Biggest difference I can tell is that you can build improvements as you please but the build speed depends on techs.
>>2116717Fuck yes FFH2 was fucking great. I need to go play it again goddamn.
>>2127723any glaring issues aside from silly? that can be overlooked so long as it plays well
>>2128155It still has unusable aristocracy.>exchanging the one food farms produce at the start into a coin
>>2117939Based "peace"-lover civ. One of the most fun civs to play as, especially when you get that hero spell + resurrection combo going
>>2133924Agreed - and especially when you go on the offense>Defender + Flanking II Horse archers get 85% withdraw chance>Cast world spell after some initial city captures>Keep rushing forward with entire stack because enemy can't even try to conquer anything back
Is there a discord server for ffh or is the civ forum the only place to discuss?
What's up with civilizations spawning in this particular mod? When starting a new game over Play Now!, the game tends to spawn a good number of civs, but often of the same alignment as yours. Kinda sucks playing an evil faction, surrounded by other evil factions. I want to kill good. But then, Costume Games. Very inconsistent. Had one game spawning three other civs, despite customizing it to spawn six. Another time, won the game after a few rounds, because the game didn't spawn a single civ. Something is off.
>>2134847Never had those issues. If you selected 6 civs and then sized the map down maybe that's why only 3 did spawn. Other than that I've no idea what could cause that. Maybe it's some modmod specific bug because I never had something like that occur in base ffh2.That alignment thing might just be bad rng but I wouldn't know because I almost exclusively play custom. But aside from roleplaying reasons that shouldn't be a big problem. Evil civs (mostly Sheaim and Clan and later on Infernal) tend to wage war no matter what and Ilians, Balseraphs and Calabim are always a risk keeping around.
>>2135176Size shouldn't be an issue, I always play on the biggest map. And yes, I really like so smack some neutral and good factions around when playing evil. That's not just for evil specifically. If I'm playing a good civ, there should also be some evil civs around. Otherwise, everyone is just holding hands being best friends.Almost everyone being neutral is kinda fun, though.
>>2116717There is an enormous amount of mods, submods, and revisions of this modification. I want to experience this mod for the first time in the best version. Which version is the best?
This obscure Civ4 mod creates an anime franchise.> The Protagonist,Ira Takuto,(The evil looking in pic related) is an ill boy who's in a hospital for the rest of his life and spends his time playing a 4x strategy game called Eternal Nations and is a renowned player online for playing a most difficulty evil aligned faction called Mynoghra, the Civilization of Ruin, on the hardest difficulty.>Suddenly dies while playing and he suddenly wakes up in the dark and scary forest in the middle of nowehere and encounters his favorite hero unit in Eternal Nations, Atou the Sludge(the elf like girl in pic related.), who's somehow recognizes and remembers him from his multiple playthroughs and is instantly loyal to him.>Both of them have no knowledge of what happened to thrm but decide to create the Evil Empire of Mynoghra and thus begins their story. You'll intstantly recognize the game mechanics, characters and even the strategy the protagonist uses (wants to focus on building domestic buildings because military units are too costly in the early game).
>>2135562Anon, the thread isn't this big. There are already posts talking about this.I still prefer Master of Mana. Despite the annoyance of strong early game barbarians.
