Moo vs Mom which one is easier to get into as a total noob? Also which one is more fun?
>>
MoM is the fantasy iteration of MoO2, so it's got more mechanics to understand compared to MoO1. As for fun, MoM>MoO1>MoO2>Conquer the Stars>MoO3

Masters of magic is the superior game, and though the gameplay is straighforward, it can be quite hard to learn to figure out how good units are and what the spellbooks mean // character creation isn't immediately intuitive.

Masters of orion 1+2 is easier to get into.

Masters of orion 3 really sucks but I never really figured out why. Just nothing about it is fun.

I like MoM a hell of a lot more than MoO (1 or 2) but I think the other Anons are right in that MoO is easier to get into.

I like mom milk more but cow's fine too.

I tried MoM for the first time a while ago and it's unbelievably dated and garbage. You can tell it inspired so many games, and all those inspired games ended up just doing everything it does but better. There is even a surprisingly good remake that also does everything better. So I would say there is absolutely no reason to play that one.

Master of Orion at least has some unique graphics that make it cozy to play, and its remake kinda sucked apparently. So play that one instead.

What about Caster of magic? It's supposedly refined the balance and AI but I've heard it changes basic gameplay elements that some people didn't like

Why do you rank MoO1 over MoO2?

Which is your favorite?

Name one game that does everything MoM does except better.

>surprisingly good remake
lol
lmao even

NTA but lots of people who love MoO1 hate MoO2's complexity. MoO1 is a very simple and elegant game while 2 has a lot more micromanagement.

Less tedium both MOM and MOO2 could've done with less micromanagement

MoO2 was my favorite strategy game of the 90s.

I played age of wonders 2 before master of magic, figured it was gonna be dated, but ended up as one of my favourites.
The power investment system, and the combat formulas with figures just makes age of wonders look like a shallow copy.

It's still dated and sucks that there's not a proper remake or spiritual successor out there.

Unbelievably trash take. Just horrid.
>>
Both games are absolutely terrible thanks to an insane amount of micromanagement.
Good 4x game play themselves.
>>
>>2134282
Remake is pure shit. Somehow has worse than the original and the magic system is pure boredom. Typical muha gme, have a very boring game try to obscure it boredom with annoying small subsystem like thea 2.
>>
>>2134282
Elaborate and maybe I'll give your trash take the benefit of the doubt.
>>

While I do enjoy MoM, I never went back to it after playing Age of Wonders 1. What a phenomenal game. Still need to play the Cult of Storms campaign and the rest of the series

Historical strategy ruined fantasy and sci-fi strategy for me.
