>friends call for a quick strategy multiplayer game, we haven't done it in a really long time>not everyone joins>we are all on the same team, to make it more social>people barely talk>they just go through the predetermined builds that they have known forever>I play a shitty uncompetitive build just for the laughs>only the nerdiest player notices, but his joy last a few seconds and then he is back to silence>entertainmentnotfound.exeThat's it boys and girls.Getting distracted with a skirmish, while WFH, is as far as I can get, but I may cut that, too.
>>2132524Comp stomps are the same as toddlers playing with toys. It was only fun because you were a child with an imagination. Strategy games just aren't designed for that. The only fun to be found in them as an adult is through the competitive nature of MP or through the narrative and challenge of a campaign.
>>2132537God you sound like a joyless fag.
>>2132542I mean the OP is confused over why something isn't fun any more. That's why. I find joy in lots of things. I also know why I don't enjoy some things that I used to enjoy.
>>2132537Playing the campaign is just compstomp + scripts.
>>2132552A narrative goes a long way. I don't know about you, but when I was a kid, there was a whole story playing out when I was playing comp stomps for all of my troops. My brain just isn't capable of doing that any more.
>>2132553Sounds like a skill issue. Though I can agree that an imaginative setting improves the experience.
>>2132537>>2132553My brain (OP) is not fried enough to lose the ability to imagine fiction, that's not the problem. The problems seem to be twofold:One, strategy games are bad at avoiding the "one and only" way to play. Two, it's almost impossible to find "fun" players, which breaks the social aspect.
>>2132524>slop pajeet can't have fun with friendsWhat a surprise.
>>2132603Do you think that pajeets really do this?Tell us, how do you enjoy your strategy games with friends?
>>2132572When I was a kid I would roleplay as the villain factions in RTS games with the massive bases that the skirmish AI (the protagonist, in this case) must overcome.I cannot do anything like that in multiplayer because there's no middle ground. Everyone is either a scrub who barely understands core mechanics or strategies, or sweats that have played the game for decades and have optimized all the creativity out of a skirmish. Now I only play co-op games with friends so I don't have to deal with things like this. It's just too tiresome.
>>2132548Honestly it just sounds like his group is a bit soulless. The lack of discussion over anything kinda sells it. Even if they aren't talking about the game they could talk about things going on or something else at least.
>>2132920>brood wardon't tell me you're playing gook click lmao. drop that soulless garbage and play a game with hero unitsand play 4v4s against real humans. hell, play some custom maps
