I feel like this is a genre niche that is sorely lacking. I really miss the old days of doing captain mode in multiplayer Napoleonic Wars. Trying to synergize with other commanders and giving your AI soldiers orders like when to fire and when to affix bayonets was peak strategy. Why do no other games try to emulate this gameplay. There should be something like bannerlord where you play as an ordinary soldier/captain in the line battles. Preferably with AI.
Yeah we need more games like this desu
>>2138126>I really miss the old days of doing captain mode in multiplayer Napoleonic WarsSOVL time it was seeing those M&B aberrations shouting Vive la France and God save the KingI always wanted a game about commanding line regiments, with limited communication between the players in the form of NPC couriers delivering written orders. Yeah, basically M&B NW but with a focus on command instead of combat. Players would even be discouraged from directly partaking in combat since a single stray bullet can kill and running out of officers means you loose control of the regiment and now it's basically useless for the remainder of the battle. But this would never work since it relies on trust system that's completely broken by third party chats. Still think it would be pretty cool to try and coordinate with teammates using just short messages, knowing what the enemy is up to because you captured a courier, getting way ahead with your regiment and finding yourself surrounded without a line of communication back to your team.
>>2138126bannerlord has captainmode and its alright.but yea I agree, we need more. Brothers in arms was fun and there is some other multiplayer fps where you command a squad but the name escapes me. Also love me some full spectrum warrior. Playing as actual good guys was kino
>>2138126Holdfast existsAnd it's fucking awful.
>>2138126i still play eu commander
>>2138336You're thinking of Enlisted. In the same vein as those military squad-leader games, there's also Six Days in Fallujah, but I haven't played it yet.
>>2138337Why’s it awful? Not really what I’m looking for anyway because it doesn’t have the bots under your command.
>>2138126I thought this was Holdfast for a second.Yeah, more games like Bannerlord where you can get directly in the action but in different eras/settings would be cool. There’s one in the works that is in a modern battlefield setting, can’t remember the name of it. Surprised there aren’t more games trying this formula.
>>2138337>>2139744Not even in the same genre. It’s a multiplayer shooter. There are no bots. It’s like a casual version of War of Rights and it’s fucking awesome tbqh. You can take it as seriously as you want. Public servers are hilarious shitfedts but if you get in with a regiment you can spend a lot of time doing finely orchestrated line battles in the napoleonic era.
battlecry of freedom had a pretty nice commander mode
>>2139744Ask yourself how exciting is playing an FPS multiplayer-only shooter where you have single-shot guns reloading for 25 to 40 seconds, melee combat is dogshit and a bloke can survive being shot five timesMost people realise that within the 2 hour refund window
>>2138126Games that allow you to build your army and fight alongside your boys will always have a soft spot in my heart
>>2138308>SOVL time it was seeing those M&B aberrations shouting Vive la France and God save the KingGOD SHITS ON THE KAISER
