>>2150072this is exogate initiative, i played the demo on a steamfest and it was an ok stargate-themed evil genius clone. one of those games to pick up on steep discount or in a bundle.
>>2147834>dedicating about 40% of your uber-expensive underwater underground laboratory to a fucking conference room>TWO gyms but no mess hall>have to walk through the communications area to get to anything elseShite tier. The only thing that has an actual productive function is the lab, which is tiny, and presumably has no advantages over a normal fucking lab that you'd build anywhere else, considering it's completely contained within this structure. I'm mad.
>>2150073It's ai, I think, that's why it's not interesting, there's no logic behind the picture
>>2150072damn that is ugly on every level

>No Space ColonyFucking zoomers get out of my board. You don't deserve to breathe the same air as I do.
And if what you want is just the underwater setting, you can't go wrong with Submarine Titans.
>>2150549>>2150072Oh boy exogate.Played through it just before it came out of early access.Won with an army of third worlders with shit stats who would work for pennies and a few high paid specialists.Gate defense has the standard flaw that any hostile force who wants in has to advance through a single bottleneck you can fill with sentryguns.Had some fun but don't really plan on playing it again.
>>2150332I’ve been thinking about giving this a try
>>2151639i liked the idea of this game more than the actual game. kind of mid and got messy and frustrating in the lategame. after finishing the management part of the campaign i dropped it early in the military part
>>2152615Was fun. My biggest issue is how you can't auto tag hostiles when they reach certain rooms.>Marines enter base and start shooting people.>Guards and turrets ignore them because you didn't mark the group for death.
>>2151640yes you can, it's a dogshit game. There's a reason nobody ever heard of it, retard
>>2151640this is not the same feel, you're just plopping down buildings on the seafloor instead of making a self-contained secret lair
>>2147864>>2148256>>2150332Just tried this, it was quite possibly the worst piece of trash I've ever seen. Zero information on how to play the game, just a bunch of buttons with no tooltips or description. Took me 20 minutes to even figure out what I was supposed to be doing then another 10 to figure out how to do it then another 5 of failing to build even a single bit of anything because everything was inexplicably red and unbuildable when I placed it, then uninstall. Kill yourselves for suggesting this utter trash. I've literally never played a worse game.
>>2149801I kinda wanna to see a modern dwarf fortress where you build a PMC base, and instead of building workshops making swords, bows, and siege engines. You are making guns and tanks instead.
>>2153415Isn't that just rimworld?
>>2153436rimworld is trash, stop bringing it up like it's relevant in this thread. No z levels = no play.
>>2151639got to agree with>>2152621Great idea, so-so execution.
>>2147834Barotrauma-esque base builder would be kinothere was a base building indie game on bottom of the sea that came out few years back but I recall it didn't have good reviews, can't remember the name sadly
>>2153410>Translation: I'm a zoomer-consumer and I didn't read the manual, REEEE!
>>2153575Z levels exist solely to trick dumb yokels like you that the game is deep strategic stuff, and not just micro hell
>>2153605Aquatico or Surviving the Abyss? The latter is just dead sadly due to not selling enough.

is this the best self sustainable build?>make crossbows for selling >beer and religion, no food>positive fear factor (maybe even +5)for the army use whatever you want but I love slingers

>>2153410Kek you're fucking retarded.
Last time i tried to play Evil Genius on Win10 the game shat itself so hard i could barely go 5 minutes without a CTD and there was stuttering the whole way throughIs it any better on Win11..
>>2160402I remember having something similar years ago when I picked it up againThere was a fix for it
>>2153410Total zoomer death.
>>2153605That gun in the top right is horrible. The entire pillar would have to be replaced frequently.
I wonder if there could be a game that simulates all the nasty stuff in fighting underground: No natural light. No radios without using either telephone cable or a chain of people repeating the signals. Sometimes having to pass tight spaces crawling with just pistol and a flash light, no body armour or a helmet. Barrels and tubes with explosive gases. Explosions getting trapped within the tunnels. Having to go around with gas mask or a fully kitted respiratory system. Having to carry ballistic shields. Recon being a nightmare without drones.
>>2150560>he doesn't knowI understand modern star wars is incredibly gay, but I was born after the height of the OT and still really liked things like this.

>>2165620based lemmy
>>2163497>>2165001not a strategy game but deep rock galactic sorta simulates underground warfare, at least the part about no natural light and there can be pretty cramped tunnels that you have to fight in (and may've dug yourself).would an ideal underground warfare game be in a more grounded (heh) setting with humans and modern tech or should it feature dwarves and more fantastical environments?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1570840/Tides_of_Tethys/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2984470/Seabed_Settlers/The latter sadly is coming in late 2026.
>>2151639I fucking despise how every space colony game is a cartoony mobile shit..Ffs give me quasi realism of something like Project Eagle, not this fucking cartoony sims shit.
I could have sworn there were multiple sadaams in this thread
>>2168076they're hidden by the rubble
>>2163547how? mods?

>>2147834Space Haven when the bew udapte will come
>>2150560Star Wars: Complete Cross-SectionsFirst edition, the Echo Base cross section was drawn by Hans Jenssen.
>>2176926I like Space Haven but wish there were pipes and conveyor belts to automate stuff. Having those roomba robots haul stuff isn't enough.
>>2176926Why did you remind me that I bought that garbageI come back to it every few years to see if it's gotten better and it's still the same game with the same problems every time5 years EA and there has been no major change
>>2147834Evil genius of course!
>>2153605I remember lot of these pictures on /sci/ 15ish years ago
>>2147834Fallout Shelter could scratch that itch, maybe. My ideal underground base building game would involve a lot more logistics, like what to do with the rubble when excavating new areas for the base since those broken rocks just don't disappear. Maybe there's different types of ore processing based on actual chemistry. Possibly some atmospheric simulation as well, you'd have to make sure everything is well-ventilated. You'll have to build in redundancy for critical systems or else a random event could fuck up your electricity or HVAC and everyone would slowly suffocate. And because everybody is living in a cramped closed system, disease could spread rapidly so you'll have to try to quarantine sick people quickly or end up with an outbreak.Like with the in-depth mechanics of Space Station 13 but instead of being tranny roleplaying game, it's a strategy base building game. And you could come across alien subterranean lifeforms, like mole people who have adapted to the darkness and lost their sense of sight so they navigate echolocation and tactile feedback, or vast fungal colonies, or underground lakes filled with blind albino fishes.I want to be able to send my colonists or whatever to explore cave systems that are discovered when expanding the base and have them end up like those cave diver horror stories. Have them get stuck in a crevice or get lost because they took a wrong turn and I have to consider if it's worth it to send a rescue party to try to save them, or if I just let them slowly starve to death in some dark forgotten corner.I want to be able to dig too deep and come across things I wish I never discovered. Things that drive all my colonists mad, or things that punish me for my greed or curiosity.
>>2147834XCOM UFO defense. Not the new one. Someone mentioned TFTD, all oldcoms have that aesthetic, but I think it peaks in original. Apocalypse gets a special mention for taking place in a city that is basically that, but above ground and more cyberpunk inspired.>>2148256ah shit, I was hoping it'd be good, and thinking of picking it up on sale.>>2160060IDK why I never bought this.>>2190247Sounds like the oxygen game is up your style. Oxygen not included. I passed on it, cause I played too much dwarf fortress and rimworld back in the day. No more.
>>2147834https://store.steampowered.com/app/1477700/Project_Wunderwaffe/not very good, but I found the premise funnymanage a nazi underground factory and win the war with wonderweapons
>>2163497radios work fine in caves. The radio waves bounce off the walls, they just can't go through the rock.
>>2157003They're not. Last I heard they were just doing bugfixes. And to be honest the game had serious problems. I think the biome side was pretty good, but the basebuilding side was a snoozefest. Good atmosphere, shoddy mechanics.
>>2153575>>2153689holy shit, ive never played rimworld but i really thought it had z levels, how do you even build houses? is everything really just a commieblock??what do you even do in the game, i thought it was about building
>>2150560indians have a hard time telling apart ai generated vs actual images because you connected to the internet recently
>>2192885>what do you even do in the gamePray to Randy
>>2192885>what do you even do in the game80% of the game is acting as a therapist for your bipolar colonists while you beg them to do things necessary for their immediate survivalthe remaining 20% is watching them die horribly because they were too depressed to be on garrison duty for half an hour and now the colony is full of rapist cannibal mutants that wear human skin for clothing
>>2194845>>2193887lol just like real life
>>2194845>rapist cannibal mutants that wear human skin for clothingFunnily enough, the closest thing to that in game is always the players colony.
