>dedicating about 40% of your uber-expensive underwater underground laboratory to a fucking conference room
>TWO gyms but no mess hall
>have to walk through the communications area to get to anything else
Shite tier. The only thing that has an actual productive function is the lab, which is tiny, and presumably has no advantages over a normal fucking lab that you'd build anywhere else, considering it's completely contained within this structure. I'm mad.

Oh boy exogate.
Played through it just before it came out of early access.
Won with an army of third worlders with shit stats who would work for pennies and a few high paid specialists.
Gate defense has the standard flaw that any hostile force who wants in has to advance through a single bottleneck you can fill with sentryguns.

Had some fun but don't really plan on playing it again.

Just tried this, it was quite possibly the worst piece of trash I've ever seen. Zero information on how to play the game, just a bunch of buttons with no tooltips or description. Took me 20 minutes to even figure out what I was supposed to be doing then another 10 to figure out how to do it then another 5 of failing to build even a single bit of anything because everything was inexplicably red and unbuildable when I placed it, then uninstall. Kill yourselves for suggesting this utter trash. I've literally never played a worse game.
>>
>>2149801
I kinda wanna to see a modern dwarf fortress where you build a PMC base, and instead of building workshops making swords, bows, and siege engines. You are making guns and tanks instead.

I wonder if there could be a game that simulates all the nasty stuff in fighting underground: No natural light. No radios without using either telephone cable or a chain of people repeating the signals. Sometimes having to pass tight spaces crawling with just pistol and a flash light, no body armour or a helmet. Barrels and tubes with explosive gases. Explosions getting trapped within the tunnels. Having to go around with gas mask or a fully kitted respiratory system. Having to carry ballistic shields. Recon being a nightmare without drones.

not a strategy game but deep rock galactic sorta simulates underground warfare, at least the part about no natural light and there can be pretty cramped tunnels that you have to fight in (and may've dug yourself).

would an ideal underground warfare game be in a more grounded (heh) setting with humans and modern tech or should it feature dwarves and more fantastical environments?

Fallout Shelter could scratch that itch, maybe.

My ideal underground base building game would involve a lot more logistics, like what to do with the rubble when excavating new areas for the base since those broken rocks just don't disappear. Maybe there's different types of ore processing based on actual chemistry. Possibly some atmospheric simulation as well, you'd have to make sure everything is well-ventilated. You'll have to build in redundancy for critical systems or else a random event could fuck up your electricity or HVAC and everyone would slowly suffocate. And because everybody is living in a cramped closed system, disease could spread rapidly so you'll have to try to quarantine sick people quickly or end up with an outbreak.
Like with the in-depth mechanics of Space Station 13 but instead of being tranny roleplaying game, it's a strategy base building game.

And you could come across alien subterranean lifeforms, like mole people who have adapted to the darkness and lost their sense of sight so they navigate echolocation and tactile feedback, or vast fungal colonies, or underground lakes filled with blind albino fishes.

I want to be able to send my colonists or whatever to explore cave systems that are discovered when expanding the base and have them end up like those cave diver horror stories. Have them get stuck in a crevice or get lost because they took a wrong turn and I have to consider if it's worth it to send a rescue party to try to save them, or if I just let them slowly starve to death in some dark forgotten corner.

I want to be able to dig too deep and come across things I wish I never discovered. Things that drive all my colonists mad, or things that punish me for my greed or curiosity.
>>
>>2147834
XCOM UFO defense. Not the new one. Someone mentioned TFTD, all oldcoms have that aesthetic, but I think it peaks in original. Apocalypse gets a special mention for taking place in a city that is basically that, but above ground and more cyberpunk inspired.

>>
>>2163497
radios work fine in caves. The radio waves bounce off the walls, they just can't go through the rock.
>>
>>2157003
They're not. Last I heard they were just doing bugfixes. And to be honest the game had serious problems. I think the biome side was pretty good, but the basebuilding side was a snoozefest. Good atmosphere, shoddy mechanics.

>>2153575

>what do you even do in the game
80% of the game is acting as a therapist for your bipolar colonists while you beg them to do things necessary for their immediate survival

the remaining 20% is watching them die horribly because they were too depressed to be on garrison duty for half an hour and now the colony is full of rapist cannibal mutants that wear human skin for clothing

Funnily enough, the closest thing to that in game is always the players colony.
