AoE2 does a paltry 24k over weekends. Brood War does not exist outside of S.Korea where it's played by a specific caste of people, normal S.Koreans have long since migrated to LoL, Overwatch and other competitive games.

Starcraft 2 has been absolutely murdered by now but even its ladder pop is still more populous than all of AoE games put together. Though because MicrosoftBlizzard are corporate niggers, we're never getting the numbers on non-ladder people.

More seriously, I don't understand why they're not continuing the trend started by the first faglance council, that is nerfing easy protoss styles (e.g. proxy void rays or wide disruptor nova radius) and buffing other, more demanding aspects of protoss (e.g. more microable tempest). The proposed storm change is literally the opposite of this goal. It's helping Gerald (P) against Milkicow (T) and Clem (T) against Maxpax (P).

SC2 has too many "all or nothing" outcomes. A balance patch either makes a unit or an ability not worth using, or the only thing worth using. I think a lot of it has to do with units being too mobile and dps being too high, everything happens so fast that the mechanical distinctions become less pronounced and consequently players and playstyles don't have enough room to develop.
