It's been 10 trillion years and there still isn't a city builder/management/modern military game set in Africa. How am I meant to live my corrupt inter-tribal guerrilla smuggling international meddling rebellion creating 5+million dead in the 2nd Congo War fantasy? huh?

it will exist if you code it
and jagged alliance 3 is kinda 50% of what you described

I think it's just that no one gives a shit about Africa. Which is a shame in this context because I'd love to play a game that was like what you're describing. Would have to be made by Slavs though, ain't no way in hell a western studio wouldn't make it ultra gay.

And as for your third-world shithole game question - we've got a bunch of Warlord Builders on /tg/ and then on /qst/ when builders got booted there, too.
>>
>>2153334
As opposed to Ruskies, who would make it not only gay, but also dour, serious and about muh geopolitics and map thinking, all of which will be edgy for the sake of it.
Yawn, call me when they come up with FUN games instead

Subsahara Africa is a neglected setting even in other genres. I only know two games set there, Far Cry 2 and Resident Evil 5.
In strategy it's only present in Paradox games afaik.

When it comes to GSG's, I wish sub-Saharan Africa wasn't included as an afterthought. Out of the habitable areas of the map, sub-Saharan Africa always has the lowest province density to where fighting wars there just isn't fun even if you're super into the region for whatever reason. TNO, of all mods/games, actually did a good job here by adding a bunch of states to each country instead of having things like Angola only being split into two or three giant blobs (like its states are in Victoria 2), only to waste it by barely giving the area any lore. Over on /asd/ I posted a map I made of South America with higher province density (since it's another region often suffering from low province density in paraslop), right now I'm chipping away at Africa doing the same thing so that sending your ngubus to fight neighboring ngubus is more involved.

I suppose it's like this because no one who makes these games gives a fuck. Most armchair historians' perception of Africa is that it was a place colonized by white people, then the colonies there were set free in the 60's and most of them became corrupt shitholes, not very exciting stuff. From a vidya standpoint, most of the wars people can name didn't have campaigns in Africa, hence the low focus on the region and the aforementioned low province density (South America's low province density is like that for the same reason). It doesn't matter if someone like you, dear OP, knows about the Second Congo War, or for that matter the civil war happening right now in Sudan, and is aware of those conflicts' potential in wargames; supply must meet demand and the demand of people like you isn't enough.

Imagine a SimSafari spiritual successor. Already in that game you had to manage the park, your tourist camp, and the African village. It was pretty comfy.

>city builder/management
There are plenty of those.
>set in Africa
They all do, it's the playthroughs you failed miserably.

The actual blackpill is that if something like it came out it would be niche and no one would play it. Those who want action play more actiony strategy and those that play city builders are usually comfyshitters who don't like when their sandcastle is kicked over. Trying to simulate a territory in Africa will inevitably lead to your city being swamped in a violent physical quagmire or an economic one. You'd be juggling ethnic groups unless you are in an ethnically coherent place and then you'd juggle international vs local pressure as you try not to get rugpulled by a 1st world power. The best you can hope for is becoming Botswana, Namibia or the Seychelles.

A purely guerilla military game would be less niche but now risk being dogpilled for racism or something or promoting war crimes.
>>

>war crimes
just call it eco raiding or psychological warfare
And can't be racist if it's african vs african, there's plenty of conflicts to choose from

There are no gsgs set in modern times retard and in every gsg period it was an irrelevant backwater shithole.
>Most armchair historians' perception of Africa is that it was a place colonized by white people,
That is literally what it was in the 19th century. Victoria has poor colonization and native management, absolutely, but to pretend the """states""" which existed down there matter at all or were respected is ridiculous.

Angola '86
It's pretty janky though, I found out I could click on hostile Angolan Army units and use them to attack their allied SWAPO bases kek

It'd be boring to play a city builder with only one building type (mud hut) and only one government type (free-for-all chaos) and only one diplomacy option (grab the spears and start chucking).

I assume it's more so that there'd be cries of racism just from the depiction of brutal conflicts there. There was some retarded controversy around Resident Evil 5 because you were gunning down tribal zombies. Harmful stereotypes or something something. Really though, if the Rance series can keep a game studio afloat for 30 years then it doesn't matter if fags say your game is racist because you're depicting war crimes. .

I want a game where you manage logistics for NGOs, running refugee camps etc
Easy mode doing sanitation or vaccine campaigns in calm countries, hard mode in South Sudan or stuff like that where your local workers routinely get murdered or kidnapped, your supplies and fuel get stolen by armed groups, and other fun stuff about logistics in Africa

maybe it just doesn't lend itself to mechanical design. since the more obvious stuff is better done in global context, ideally with the whole globe being the backdrop, and the spicy stuff (black warlords war crimes) is kryptonite for sales.
maybe if you go super historical... but that's a very niche product, probably gotta share the engine with a dozen other scenarios.

Do we actually know that for a fact? I see it asserted but there's no examples. It definitely wouldn't be getting AAA sales but there's very few /vst/ games that do.

Africans are a rising economy and I feel like a game for the African gamer would be a hit. Just needs to be able to run on a 20 year old machine.

Bait? We're talking about a strategy game that would depict very real and recent war crimes in their area. If niggers with machetes murdered my family and neighbors I wouldn't want to play "niggers with machetes murdering your family simulator"

Your best chance will probably be if that new Systemic War game expands its setting into Africa.
