Now that TNO is dead I realize that I'm actually going to start missing it, its drama and its dysfunctions. It may have stopped being playable since years back but it's proven a great source of entertainment because of the backroom backstabbing that the devs get into. I think that's something that sets it apart from other bad, dead or nothing-ever-happens mods. People actually cared about it at one point and in trying to morph into something it wasn't, it became a schizophrenic maelstrom of drama that chased away everyone that ever loved it and became a nesting ground for mental atrophy as people want nothing to do with it any more just to preserve what few good memories remain. Hello folks, I have completely forgotten how to play HoI4 after many years and struggle with everything starting from figuring out the amount of military factories I need to dedicate for each piece of equipment, to deciding whether I should have my armies training or not, to using the division designer or figuring out whatever the fuck is going on with the new infrastructure or military command. I don't want to play vanilla. Do I have a chance of re-learning the game with my severe ADHD or should I consider hanging myself? Do I play KX, Red Flood or 8 Years War of Resistance?

A bunch of these could be folded together like the Tsarist paths with Sherin's stuff and elements of the Orthodoxy. I understand that they want to go into substantial depth with Russia but a lot of these things make perfect sense for the other paths to do, it is not like a Tsarist Russia in the modern day would not put a massive focus on religion and the historic basis for the White movement. Also, this PoD doesn't explain how Islam didn't sweep Europe, and I don't understand how these changes make "Africa" a superpower either. North Africa is far different from the parts of Africa which the Bantu Explosion affected, and the latter is what people associate with Africa.

At that point, both EU and Russia have shit armies, no time to build up, generals and doctrines still suck because not enough time was spent on proxy conflicts. Not sure how fun that would be. Getting your europe playthrough screwed over because russia went a different path isn't exactly fun. You have to prepare for the possibility of the early war at first. Although that would make it an interesting gamble-do I invest in civs for easier 1ew or do I spend the first years preparing for early war. Then the factors that caused the war to slow translate poorly into hoi4. I was playing across the dnepr and even with gigantic arbitrary debuffs it was a cakewalk. In fact, good amount of problems are extremely obvious in hindsight. I've also mentioned it before, but quite a few mouthbreathers would come and say "russia hasn't won yet otl therefore it should not win in game".

If/When Ukraine gets content they should become a lot tougher to fight and drag out that part of the 1EW a bit longer. As is I usually only complete one or two focuses of the war tree before Europe intervenes and it gets replaced.

>>2165698That's my issue with it honestly, the portraits that do change are way to larpy as in they use literal WW2 uniforms. I prefer they either keep their Bundeswehr grey, wear camo or get some sort of Wolfenstein-esque neo-Hugo Boss uniform. Franz's is fine because it makes sense for him and the winter coat really saves it from looking like a reenactor. Same fear I have for the League of the South, their black-beige uniform is cool but the generals wear actual 1860 reenactor clothes for the most part.
