Which 4x has the best economy? I am in the mood for managing the economy of a somewhat randomized world.

Endless Space 2/Endless Legend both have supply/demand market mechanics and factions focused on economic victory.

>Endless Space 2/Endless Legend both have supply/demand market mechanics
Isn't that only done in discrete chunks actively by the player? There isn't like passive trading for stuff with the equilibrium price rising as demand increases etc but just the price going up every time you buy a chunk of it?
It's good that trading resources has some nuance but I'd prefer something more simulated.
Regardless, I think I'll pirate EL2 and see how the economy is in that, and if I dislike it play ES2.

x4, which is not a 4x, but is kind of close

It's just so frustrating trying to wrangle all the poorly made systems.

Pic related has an extremely satisfying economy once you get past the jankiness and autism requirements

I'm quite fond of SSIs imperialism 1 and 2.

>somewhat randomized world
You have that worldgen option.

don't bother with EL2, it barely has any economy management, doesn't even have the market screen

absolute brainlet take, I know, but stellaris has grown on me
the inter-player economy is lacking (although the global market works similarly to endless games with addition of slave trade), but I kinda like the simple-ish basic resources to intermediate to unity/research pipeline that advance your tech and traditions and overall power
managing economy in that game almost scratches the same itch as factory games, but is FAR less demanding and goes easier on the brain if you need some mindless unwinding

I enjoyed Civ IV Colonization for the economy. It's not very in depth, but if you trade certain goods a lot, their prices will change alongside random fluctuations, and your king will try to tax the goods you most commonly trade.

bombing the shit of some terrorist planet just to sell them supplies at 10x price after because nobody trades with them anyway is very fun.
