it really isn't that good
>>2169867It really is.Dungeon Keeper 1 is great, however Dungeon Keeper 2 adds a bunch of restrictions because of it's full 3D engine. Most games that take inspiration from Dungeon Keeper take it from DK2 rather than DK1, Despite there being a large community of fans for DK1.Personally..Personally..I have consider working on a RTS game inspired by DK1 but then like, I realize majority of people who play RTS are in their 30s now and there's no money to be made in it.That being said. I'll monitor this thread and reply to your questions if you want to talk about a game design for DK1 inspired RTS.
>>2169867Its great and you are a fagI'm going to play some more DK right nowThanks op
>>2169867I want to really like everything about it but I have 2 major problems>1. Most of the campaign actually being keeper vs keeper instead of the asymmetrical keeper vs. goody two shoes heroic party, ruins the vibe for me>2. Most matches amount to getting as much cash and as many monsters into the training room as possible and just leaving them there entire game, every other room type is a fraction as importantEnded up getting filtered around mission 12 or 13, but that was after learning that the keeperfx version I was playing made that mission way harder by improving the ai and theyve since fixed it. Might try it again someday despite the issues I had.
>>2170139>1. Most of the campaign actually being keeper vs keeper instead of the asymmetrical keeper vs. goody two shoes heroic party, ruins the vibe for me Yes, it's rather unfortunate most missions have you fighting other keepers, rather than, for instance, having a "hero dungeon" (they have their imp equivalent, the tunneler, so they could theoretically expand like a regular keeper, if computer-controlled). >the keeperfx version I was playing made that mission way harder by improving the ai and theyve since fixed it. KeeperFX fixed a ton of garbage left over in the official release, but it also kinda overtuned some aspects. I haven't installed the latest version, but I might get it one of these days, if only to play around with tick rate, now that they have uncoupled it from FPS. So you can theoretically run the game at 60 FPS and the very first tick rate, mentioned in the design docs, of 12 (regular game runs at 20 ticks, IIRC).
>>2169867Just play second game its way better, dont listen to faggots itt.
>>2170271It's a consequence of them spending a huge chunk of development on multiplayer matches against each other and the release of the game coming as something of a surprise for the team so they had to rush the campaign. They had a ton of keeper v keeper experience and maps that they used to fill out the campaign.
>>2170613I remember reading various stories from people who were on the team (mostly secondary positions), mentioning how the devs would play a ton of multiplayer (and the programmer team would cheat by adding a gem patch to their side of the map). Though it seems they didn't play asymmetrical multiplayer, where some guys would use evil creatures, and the others would use heroes (they never implemented room type/size requirements for heroes, AFAIK).
>>2169867It is actually you fucking retard.
