nice, not really a strategy tho
>>
Tried the voyager game and unless the demo is a super early development sample or the game really opens up after the tutorial it doesn't seem like it'll be that good. Scanning planets has no real mechanical impact so its just busywork. The combat feels like a mobile game and its like why even add combat when you could just bolster the survival strategy aspect. Event options also seem poorly balanced. I'm afraid it's one of those bargain bin titles. And as of the demo they couldn't even license the voyager theme or authentic phaser sounds.

Cubic Annihilation looked like a pile of piss, who picked those colors? Also, scrolling to zoom in/out was reversed for some reason.

I mentioned them in the previous thread on /v/, but these turn-based tactical games fit well this board

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2622820/Dobbel_Dungeon/
In Dobble Dungeon you roll dices (starting with two, later can level up more) at the start of the character's turn and then allocate them to whatever attack or ability you want. Not always it's about the biggest number, sometimes ability require specific type of value or more than one dice. These dices are the main and I think only source of rng and with how you can freely allocate them to your needs, it really feels like you're the one in control of the outcome. Each hero has a different skill tree with multiple abilities to spec into. Skill points are share between the whole party so you can even make one character overpowered at the expense of others. Missions are presented as branching tree, but you can always go back to do mission from different branch if you wish which is something I really like. One of the starting heroes is also busty demon-girl.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2432240/Smash_it_Wild/
Smash it Wild is a turn-based volleyball game. Each of your three players has different set of servings, each applying different perks and properties to you, your opponent or tiles of the board. Position of players on the board is important since not all characters can move equal numbers of tiles, The most important attribute of character however is stamina that depletes whenever character moves, catches ball or gets pushed around. Without stamina, character can't move. The gist of the game is to tire out and outmaneuver your opponent to get a window to land a score. In between matches you get set of events to upgrade your players.
Worth pointing out that the demo got update since the start of the Fest with new UI and different starting team.

I played it and it's sort of cool but I'm not entirely sure how it's supposed to work. The fresh water requirement is very restrictive which would be okay, you set up your first city at the mouth of the river, second one upstream, but then what? Warehouses have a build range that won't reach the next river over, aqueducts are only one per source and also need to be within build range. Are you supposed to just use up your water source to put a city on the middle of nowhere just to extend the build range? You probably need it to get water on the high ground if you want to make your own flower and cement. Or to ge more coastal tiles to keep up with fish production.
Even looking in the tech tree it makes fountains and rivers a bit better but I can still see getting screwed by map gen that will make it very hard to expand.
>>
>>2172708
yeah i'm not sure either, i just played it for like 10 minutes and i couldn't figure it out
i don't know why literally everything needs a stream or an aqueduct when wells also existed back then

This looks pretty interesting

this appears to be a VN.
>>
>>2173102
Not really, it looks like a very indie strategy game with a focus on characters. Which is something I did want.
>>
>>2173061
pretty unusual for a jap indie project, no doubt it'll be full of complete schizojank though

The designs are so unsexy that you really shouldn't worry about it. And I'm not saying this as a bad thing.

What was the draw of Majesty?
I'm playing Lessaria and it's just a more annoying version of a normal RTS where your units will charge to their death because you're not allowed to pull them back.
>>
>>2172708
I've played around with it for a couple of hours and I have the same problems as you. The whole game feels very restrictive.

You are very limited in your storage because a warehouse or merchant dock can only store three types of resources. So if you want to keep wood and cement to extend your build range you can only keep one other resource in there. So you will need several to supply your towns with food and other stuff but your building slots are very limited and they also need to be used for fountains to create fresh water. The core gameplay of building small to medium sized towns and connecting them with trade routes is quite comfy but I think they need to work on some of the numbers. Let more resource types be stored and maybe increase the resources range so you can realistically expand.
>>
>>2173779
After playing an hour more I think I understand that the game is mostly about trade route management. Resource distribution is more important than resource gathering it seems.
I encountered a bug where a building couldn't be supplied even though it had access to the right resources so I quit but I think the game has some potential. If it's cheap I might get it.

Sad. Maybe if they made an actual follow up to the main series instead of the spin-off rpg-like.

Liberation story and characters were cringe as fuck but the battles were okay until the end when all balance went out the window. I wonder if they're learned anything.
>>
>>2173905
I enjoyed their last one and was wondering what they were doing just the other day. The tone is completely off, but it feels like a good King's Bounty game. Dunno if I'll bother trying this demo, but I'll probably get the game if it's as good as the first.

>>

yeah everything looks like slop from the character art to the writing, also lol that it's by an Azeri studio

the writing is subpar, I don't know why the hell would the suzerain devs recommend it

>>
>>2173573
I really liked that one, at least what they showed me in the demo is good, but I'm afraid it will become repetitive.
I'll buy it anyway to play it while I wait for Dawn of War to come out.
>>
>>2173061
I love the character art and the UI is neat but the actual world looks kinda wrong
I'm not sure what it is, too low fidelity for the arstyle or something.
>>
>>2173061
>>2173152
What is this artstyle called?
>>
>>2174660
>>2175450
This is yet another reminder that Suzerain is a Visual Novel, not a strategy game, so of course they recommend other visual novels.
>>
>>2173061
As the others said, the art is great. I really liked the painting-style anime look and I hope it inspires similar art elsewhere. However, I found the game pretty bad. It really feels like Mount&Blade, but worse in every aspect. It also ran atrociously on my computer, it feels very poorly optimized
>>
>>2173061
At long last my dreams of a femboy general harem will become a reality.
>>
tried Road to Vostok and that Marvel beatemup

Road to Vostok is pretty barebones and kind of weird to play.

Marvel beatemup is straightforward and is fun

>>2173905
is it good tho
>>
It's depressing how bad every demo was.
>>
>>2183742
Haven't tried any, but you get some good ones and some bad ones. I feel like it goes good then bad. Last next fest was really good, so makes sense if this one was bad.
>>
>>2171840
nice
