So apparently this is coming in 2026.
Fears? Expectations?
>>
More is more: Archipelagos, with the biggest islands ever in the series, await your rule, expanded with 10 extra scenarios, more than 20 sandbox maps, and endless possibilities with a random map generator.

Move mountains – literally: Erase them, create beaches, or even create entirely new islands! The new terraforming feature brings your megalomaniac dreams to life. Start that mammoth project – NOW!
>>
Bollocks uhm… Politics: Navigate the snares and pits of internal politics, when you summon the different factions to your council, a new way to meet them face to face while you pulverize their dreams – or use them for a BIG DEAL to your own advantage.

Make the world your playground: Elections, election speeches and a vast portfolio of edicts depending on your political standing spice up your daily rule while you juggle foreign affairs and occasionally steal... uhm relocate a landmark to revel in its benefits.

Built to prosper: Strategically place buildings to make use of synergy effects, keep citizen satisfaction high, and fill any unused plots of land with beautiful parks in a freely customized size.

well it's a nothingburger but at least speeches are back

It will be about the Modern Era power fantasies more than the Cold War city building challenges.
>Expectations
It will be about the Modern Era power fantasies more than the Cold War city building challenges.
>>2172133
Terraforming sounds neat, though I hope it's somewhat limited--part of the fun is fighting with limited space. I enjoy having archipelagos in 6, and though Tropican Shores was a decent way to use all of those beachlines.
Those factories also look complicated, especially with that over-road channel, so I'd see what kind of details they have
>>2172139
>relocate landmarks
Yep, there it is
Is that roadside parking? Could we also see things like highways with offramps to help traffic across long distances?
>>
Tropic is clearly being milked at this point
>>
>>2172130
I played the fuck out of 1-3-4. If they go on deep sale at xmas which is better, 5 or 6?
>>
>>2172291
6 but just pirate it
>>
Hopefully they add some better transportation systems and a shift rotation for buildings, or at least forbid tropicans from taking jobs or going to services too far from where they worked. The maps in Tropico 6 could get pretty big, but spreading out on them was impossible because tropicans would waste all their time walking to the other end of the island instead of working or fulfilling their needs, and the transit options were either pathetic or too limited to fix this.
I also hope there is more emphasis on meeting your tropican's needs instead of plopping down a wonder that allows you to ignore it, but I doubt Tropico 7 will be much better.
>>
>>2172130
>7 games in

>>
I never played a Tropico till 5, what made 4 stand out so much comparedm44t to the others?
>>
>>2172130
it will be trash, everything after 4 (3 really) was pure garbage.
>>
>>2172499
The game lost a lot of character. I believe it got new devs who had no idea how to make good jokes about politics and little shitty dictators.
>>
I really hate the "steal foreign landmarks" mechanic, I'd rather build Tropican wonders that are parodies of other people's monuments. I don't give a shit about stealing the Statue of Liberty, I want to build the Statue of Tropico.
>>
>>2172130
>Fears?
They don't fix the fundamental flaw with the every agent simulated system that was present in T6

No idea, really. This franchise has gone on for a while and has very divided opinions.

I haven't played this series since 4. Is there actual innovation between the entries or do they just keep releasing the same game with slightly updated graphics?

They made it worse by trying to change it to some pseudo RTS game.

>>
>>2173053
5 tried to innovate but they screwed it up. I haven't played 6 but it seems like a refined 5. Still I think they lost the SOVL of 3 and 4.
Tropico was always a cold war snapshot that just brushed up against the modern day. It was never supposed to be about taking the island through history from a colonial inception.

I'm still playing Tropico 1 and 2 so I'm good
I play Tropico 4 sometimes just because I got it for free
>>
>>2173165
I think Tropico with multiple eras could work, but the problem is old buildings do not match with or synergize with newer buildings. So you end up with a bizarre historical amalgam.
What it should be is
>in Colonial Era, your Coastal Fort is your main military building
>in world wars era, it loses importance but is still useful for defense
>in Cold War era and beyond, it has been reduced to a tourist trap or a dungeon
>>
>>2173203
Bizarre historical amalgam is basically cuba though. Where 5 fell short was in a very limited selection of buildings that as you say became obsolete on each era change. A true era based tropico game needs to build on each like layers, not just swap from era to era.
>>
>>2173224
What I mean by "bizarre" amalgam is not that colonial history is present, but rather that it doesn't entirely fit in with everything else because old buildings never change roles or aesthetics to keep up with the era change.
>A true era based tropico game needs to build on each like layers, not just swap from era to era.
100% agree.
Like imagine each era had a wonder or monument you're building towards in order to advance, like a cathedral or a Cold War era base. There are some elements like that in 6, but I mean a true monument and not just another building.
>>
>>2172139
>Internal Politics
Is this going to actually be internal politics or is it just going to be more of "Build random building and then immediately bulldoze it just to fulfill an objective" or "Just kinda raise this satisfaction stat"
>>
>>2173233
Sounds like they're just reintroducing mechanics that were in 3 and 4.
>>
>>2173203
Yeah, old buildings obtaining new purposes or bonuses would be great.
>>
>>2173185
what needs to be fixed
>>
>>2172130
bring back autistic statistics please
>>
>>2173250
Everything? I mean, you basically need to build like 3-4 fucking teamsters for every single economical building you have, that's just utterly ridiculous. 80% of your damn workforce in 6 is gonna be Teamsters if you want to get your products moved anywhere. The "alternative methods" like drone are just straight up garbage, only come in the latest age, and are extremely limited.

>inb4 don't play 6
Six is what they're going to be starting off from, stooped.
>>
>>2172130
I really hope they make it responsive. There is 1 thing and 1 thing only that matters the most: Responsiveness. I stopped playing new tropicos because it takes too long to pan, zoom navigate around, open menus and get shit done. There should be 0 animations. Everything must be instant. Every action must be doable in microseconds. This is the main thing that has killed 3D slop for me.
>>
>>2173260
I forgot to add, the issue with this whole teamster thing is also that unless you basically explot the game to get insane price exchanges or are playing in baby easy mode, your money is going to get flushed down the drain with every single moment thanks to the salary of the teamsters.

I remember, wehn playing 6, that my "expenses" tab was like 50% teamsters 50% everything elser
>>
>>2173263
no clue what youre talking about, its super responsive (at least 4, 5 and 6 are)
>>
>>2173260
well one solution in T5 was not building car parks at all and putting one teamsters near your dock and around your industry. and appareantly you can min/max with roundabouts, never tried those
>>
>>2173296
I'm talkin' about T6, which has none of those things. They're going off from Tropico 6.
>>
Teamsters were even a bottleneck in 3 and 4. I had to spam those shits to make sure my cigar and rum factories could offload to one of my many ports that I also had to spam. It's another instance of something that desperately needs upgrades as the game progresses to keep up with demand without making your workforce 80% teamsters.
>>
>>2172291
6 is just 5 with more stuff
kinda like what 4 is to 3
>>
>>2172130
it'll probably be tropico 6 + some minor changes, the same way 6 was 5 + some minor changes

don't like saying it, but the textures look like they're from 2006. And the Car models themselves are ported directly from Minecraft.
I don't think that graphics matter in videogames, but 2026 release with graphics from 20 years ago just reminds me one more time, that the entire industry has turned into a conveyour belt of same ol, same ol stuff, because of retarded fucking businessmen inside of it.
>>
>>2172130
i want to like tropico but every time i try it the game turns into an unmanagable logistical nightmare soon as you you try to scale.

its fun for a few hours then i uninstall

That it will be like Tropico 5 and 6

Tropico 4 is simply the best in the series. No retarded shit like dynastries and historical eras, best characters, best radio, best humor. Penultimo is only funny in Tropico 4. Tropico 4's faction characters are the best caricatures in the series.
>>
>>2181618
they butchered penultimo in 6... I think the only "funny"like was when he saw jesus
>>
>>2181157
>in the year of our lord 2025
>still cant simulate more than 100k citizens properly (the limit in CS2 before the game shits itself)
what kinda processing power do we need for that realistically?
>>
>>2181945
I'm gonna be honest, I'd rather have a better game than bigger numbers. Just about every single city builder with detail usually has the number be a LOT smaller because they simulate every single citizen.

You'd probably need a lot of power to process 100k different entities doing different shit at the same time, otherwise your game is gonna be as fast as MEIOU.
>>
Speaking of Tropico, does anyone have tips on public transportation in Tropico 6? Especially on how to use buses during the World War era? I feel I always create inefficient, useless bus routes that don't actually help citizens moving faster.
>>
>>2182596
>Speaking of Tropico, does anyone have tips on public transportation in Tropico 6?
Yeah, don't bother with it. The game pushes you to have everything within walking distance as there is no limit to how far tropicans will walk and bus lines only get one bus per route.
The metro system in the game is more akin to a portal and is for keeping more stuff within walking distance, but the time it takes to use it goes up as you add more stations, so you're limited on that too.
The cableway may be the only decent public transit option, but I gave up on the game before considering it.
Really you just need to embrace 4's way of doing things and either give cars to everyone so they don't waste their time waiting for an overcrowded bus or keep everything within walking distance.
>>
I was planning on getting 4 next time it goes on sale, what about the DLC? Any that would be considered must get or skipable?
>>
>>2183781
4 has so much dlc it's hard to remember them all. At this point the whole thing should be so cheap on sale just get them all.
>>
>>2183302
The metro system is more efficient because it keeps your roads free for teamsters.
Sure, there's upkeep, power cost, and expanding wait times for each station,
but the amount of time "lost" is still better than time spent waiting for a bus and/or clogging up traffic before you factor in road travel time
I usually put them outside of my different sectors/main attractions (cathedrals, shopping malls, casinos, etc), my major industries, and then have local ones for the communities to visit them. It helps being only 1x1, you can put them anywhere
>>2183781
I only remember El Plantador, because the plantation was great for setting up cash crops
>>
>>2183781
Just get the full edition with all
>>
Were there significant differences between 3 and 4? I hadn't played 4 much, it felt literally like the same game as 3, but this time with dozens of DLCs instead of single expansion pack.
>>
>>2184099
Cargo logistics is never an issue if people cannot get to work and actually create anything, but the real issue is that the metro doesn't function like public transportation. It is just a lazy way to extend walking so the larger maps the developers made would be playable despite the halfassed transit options they put in.
>>
>>2184240
>extend walking
*distances
>>
>>2184190
Mainly graphical.
4 was 3 with the expansions included, new lighting and coloring, and crates for a visual representation of a building's output so you could easily see where your teamster bottlenecks were.

1 is all you need.

That Kalypso will never be brave enough to think beyond "LOL le fanny banana republic city builder". Ideally it would be a sunny, less tedious, version of Workers & Resources with Cold War satire.

The last Tropico worth playing was 4.
I fear and expect absolutely nothing, because I played 5 for like three hours and never even bothered with 6.
