Maybe that other nation you wanted to play would be more fun? You start the new campaign and you get hit by the brick wall of a realization that all that surface level tedious clicking for little reward has to be done again, for what could be considered a work-day in terms of time to even scratch the surface on the time span of this game. This time you start looking into the features a bit more, surely there has to be something you missed. Some deep rich mechanical flick of a switch that makes the whole simulation more interactive. You start noticing how easy the game is in its essence, as long as you just expand all your RGOs and build cities you will never, ever struggle for money or food no matter what, even if the potential mechanics are there to make it a more engaging experience. What could have been a rich learning experience and sold itself as a massively deep game for only the sharpest minds (this was an actual advert) is on release, a bunch of unconnected shallow systems with a bit of potential. Its as if they just arent balanced or plugged in to prevent the AI from imploding in on itself. Some systems are so shallow that its clear they will get DLC, like colonization, weather and food. Some systems like combat are just revamped copy pastes from older games i.e March of the Eagles which was never a popular game for a reason.TLDR; the game hides its simplicity behind bad UI, the AI is passive and incompetent. With any type of previous PDX experience you will snowball 100 years into the game rendering 4/5ths of the game boring as hell. Needed more time.

I think I may have won a war because of a glitch. I noticed that naval levies were a thing and I had obtained one. I immediately saved and then declared no cb war on a weak shit island. I noticed that the ship claimed it could only take 200 men at once. But I still sent a naval invasion anyway. I did so by simply right clicking the location with my army selected. At first it took 80 men and they of course died on landing. But then it came back and straight up took all my 800 or so troops. It dropped them down and they absolutely wrecked the defenders who were only 200 or so if I remember correctly. They still lost though due to the penalties and were sent back to the boat. I however immediately could recommand them to attack again. They of course landed and instantly wiped the 50 men who remained. I easily seized and took the location and some money.

Holy shit the UI really is bad. I can't tell what the fuck is going on. I started my first war and I can't tell where anyone is going or when a battle is happening. Army units are shrinking to the point of being impossible to see, ships are zooming all over the place like crazy, units are moving while the game is paused. My tutorial that said it is for war has just bailed on me and isn't showing up anymore. It's a fucking clusterfuck

The cabinet recruits will flood in over time, you don't need to buy one. Also, parliament can let you make your first town in some cases. I've not built a building yet, but they seem quite profitable so I think I'll probably snowball from there.
