I want to like this game but I play fast, so I'm already on my 3rd run (yes i've made it to end game 2 times) and seeing the AI get stuck in the same ruts is pissing me off.

Basically nothing ever happens after, 1400~ or so. The game is really fun but this is a huge downside. Is there a setting or mod that can fix it?

I got into paradox games in 2020 with CK3's launch because a few of my friends were hyped about it, so I checked it out. The AI currently has a huge problem where they convert to whatever is the dominant culture and religion in their nation, this is why you see so many people talking about Greek and Orthodox Ottomans among other things like a HRE emperor who enforced his religion in the league war forcing people to convert to his religion, just for them to instantly swap back to whater is the majority in their nation. Or in your case, AI Bohemia converting to Hussite but then instantly swapping back to Catholic because it's the majority religion

Two related mechanics.
An unintegrated province has a low control cap, regardless of other factors.
After you've integrated a province (either by the cabinet action or by annexing a subject) it will automatically become a core if >50% of the pops are in your accepted cultures regardless of other factors like time of ownership or religion. Your primary culture is always accepted, and all others use cultural capacity.

At the moment though, culture conversion is so fast that it's almost always just worth being genocidal. When you get cultural hegemon, it becomes even more OP

I'm pretty sure they integrate eventually without doing anything, 100+ years for wrong culture, and a lot faster for accepted. Obviously the best use of your cabinet is integration but with the ottomans you get event trigger based on number of directly owned locations so its better to just hoard instead of making vassals.

The location with the lowest amount of pops had about 1100, the others in that province had 2.2-3.5k. anything overvalued in your market for quick early cash > lumber, stone, tools, sand > luxury goods for estates > tech (literacy/paper/books). Roughly that order but it depends what resources you have easily available. Creating your own market is usually strong too, but make sure you have the basics around you or you will get fucked by no food/lumber in your market if it's too small because you are squished between others. If the GH has broken to pieces, it's free real estate and you should do it as quickly as possible before Hungary or Halych decide to blob into Moldova, or before it consolidates into a single state. If the GH is still alive and kicking, you can probably still do it if you get allies.

Hungary and Poland are allies, and Poland was having a rebel nobles moment (for some reason they had these a few times), so the best time to strike was when Hungary was busy playing whack-a-mole with Polish rebels, because that also meant Poland itself wouldn't join a war declared on Hungary (the Burgundians did however, and let me tell you, there may only be like 4K of them but damn they're strong). Unfortunately I had to rush so as not to lose the opportunity so I used no CB, but Bulgaria, Serbia and Halych all joined my war from the beginning as allies, while Kyiv and Bryansk I had to use my favours for despite our alliance because of the distance. The shitty AI meant no consolidation of forces for a while so the warscore went as far down as -9, but once I could doomstack my allies, I went to +44 and I could've gone further, but there was no point because what you see is maximum I could get in the peace deal without going over 100.

The noble marriage privlege removes the -10 legitmacy hit for marrying nobles. So if you just marray all your crown characters to nobles and the remaining nobles to each other they just explode in numbers.

Local estate power multiplies the power that the pop in the province usually gives. Even if the estate has a lot of power, it tends not to make a huge difference because they probably have so many other multipliers already, so the downside of stuff like noble or burgher power is usually worth it compared to the benefit of the building. Counting houses you just want as much crown power as possible all the time so you're going to build them but build them where you have the highest pop first.
