It's kinda funny that in the 12th century start date there are literally zero actually English rulers in England and even the local nobles have French surnames. Brutal.

My predictions for Chapter V:

>Religion DLC focused on Christianity(Pope succession, ecumenical synods, investiture etc.)
>India flavour pack(caste mechanics and a situation)
>Republics and Trade; adds what you'd expect, with a new wandering merchant camp purpose hopefully

My prediction for Chapter V

this is possible, though it looks like you might be locked into Confederate Partition if you take it
administrative still adopts acclamation succession as it should
I guess if you don't mind opening debug could just change succession to primogeniture to circumvent that jank
>>
>>2231682
nvm it gets lost on succession and becomes fucked
>>
>>2231692
I was vague, I meant the primogeniture gets lost after getting console'd over confederate partition
gave a guy three kids, the firstborn daughter inherited the empire and such, while the firstborn son only inherited the noble house. The realm succession was simply called "Male Preference", so definitely a fuck

I dont know anything about the new asia content and just dicked around or an hour or so in China.

If you start as a landless family head, is your gameplay just grinding these exams until your rating is high enough became the regent of the emperor or whatever? I'm probably missing something but is inheritance and war not a thing? Since counties and duchies and such are all granted by this merit shit. Can you even expand your domain via inheritance or warfare (and give those gains to your children when you die)?
>>
>>2232061
Also after checing Japan fo 10 minutes the situation there is even more confusing to me, there the idea seems to be "just uuuuh build a big family block and hope for the best or something"

>>
>>2232061
>is your gameplay just grinding these exams
Yes. They took administrative and made it more tedious. Japan has two "new" govts; one is gayer admin and the other feudal with some more hoops to jump thru. My suggestion is either play south, south east or jurchen.
>>
>>2232103
sorry, didn't mean to reply to you here >>2232106
>>
>>2232110
but I got awarded a title and then I have to resign to keep grinding? just seems very counterintuitive, like is there no gradual builup of your demense? you stay landless until you have enough merit to jump right to the top?? and yeah I have seen that being governor gives you more opportunities to gaon merit so I suppose the idea is to jump in and out of governance or something? very weird.
>>
>>2232126
It's administrative realm. So, titles are appointed rather than inherited. Same deal as byzantines got a while back but smaller districts and with some added tedium like exams and treasury mechanics. To each their own but I really don't enjoy admin govts if you haven't noticed.
>>
>>2232141
I have never once played in byzantium so I guess I'm extra confused
>>
>>2231610
No but reading the Wikipedia article on Islam in China, got this
>Pu Shougeng, a Muslim foreign trader, stands out in his work to help the Yuan conquer Southern China, the last outpost of Song power. In 1276, Song loyalists launched a resistance to Mongol efforts to take over Fuzhou. The Yuanshih (Yuan dynasty official history) records that Pu Shougeng "abandoned the Song cause and rejected the emperor...by the end of the year, Quanzhou submitted to the Mongols."In abandoning the Song cause, Pu Shougeng mobilized troops from the community of foreign (Muslim) residents, who massacred the Song emperor's relatives and Song loyalists.
China had their own gates of Toledo moment but with Muslims instead of Jews lol

why is she making the bitcoin lazer eyes

>>
>>2232146
You really haven't missed much imho. Well, some nice larp events for triumphs but those are see them once and there's no reason to play to see them again kind of deal. Especially since you lose a ton of potential theme armies when you finally unify rome but that's another story. As for admin itself there's simply a lot of frontloaded windowdressing and lots of buttons, as paradox does, but just play a bit and you'll get which mechanics are useful and which you can safely and completely ignore. And don't fuck around with eunuchs. They used to be fantastic but now they appear to be hardwired to fuck your shit up and force you to engage with power scales which is another "fun" and thankfully safely ignorable mechanic paradox came up with.

>>
>>2233651
Levies are completely irrelevant. West europe, spain and anything with access to norse heritage especially, india and the middle east still have the edge because of local innovations and several very useful artifacts, unique buildings and holy site bonuses but I assume that will shift once east stops being barren with unique content. But it's not like war is that important in this game to begin with.

I haven't played CK3 in like 3 years. Booted it up, made a custom hellenic, macedonian ruler in Afghanistan. Realized there isn't any easy courtier spawning like CK2 and what there is cost a ton of money. Had 0 tech and got shit on by hindu religous wars even though I had the same size army. Anyone have a good idea how to do this without blobbing from the west?
>>
>>2235789
Dead cultures are completely screwed because they start off with little tech, the only way to make them playable is to hybridize with another culture. You can hand out counties to new nobles of your culture and they will automatically spawn courtiers inside their courts. Also zunism exists already so idk why you want to start with hellenism.

Whats the best way to breed certain traits into my family? I wanna play as a Japanese house and want to get everyone in my family to be Intelligent, Strong, Herculean, Albino, Giants in as short of a time as possible because I think it would be funny if there was a family of Samurai in history who were all pale as snow and seven feet tall and bench pressed horses.
I basically have to just try and marry people with the same traits, over and over again, while grabbing only the first two of the Blood dynasty legacy(so I dont lose the albino and giant traits), yeah?
>>
>Still playing CK3 when EUV exist
The pops and dialects systems alone make this entire game obsolete by comparison. Join us in 1337.
>>
>>2238905
It will be difficult to retain the albino and giant traits because the blood legacy traits only give bonuses to positive traits. You could just use the ruler designer to give your starting character max height, pale skin, red eyes, white hair, and then incest to maintain those traits in your family. You will most likely have to use incest to maintain the traits either way though.
>>

>>
>>2238929

>>
>>2238934
>albino and giant traits because the blood legacy
Blood four lets you pick one of those and when you do it negates blood three for that trait while giving you additional +5% for each parent (doubled if their your direct offspring) for like 60% if one parent has it and almost 90% if both do.
>>
>>2238934
Damn, incest it is then. I'll have to careful cultivate a family tree to make sure I have as many branches with as many of the traits as possible.
I wanted to start with a landed pre existing character but maybe a custom adventurer might be fun. I'm sure I could snag a title.

>>2238964
Damn, I forgot all about that tier of the legacy. I guess I'll just have to decide which one I want more: gigantism or albinism. The Dread is probably more useful since i can get that combat prowess from Giant elsewhere.
>>
>>2239014
If you're not opposed to cheating you can mod that perk to select both, but yeah, it's one or the other while the other will get fucked by blood 3. I'd still go for nordic or iberian coterie first but that might be tricky in japan.

The AI decides court language by how much prestige the language has leading to an unstable equilibrium where more AIs adopting a language will lead to even more AIs adopting that language because it has even more prestige. Before AUH it was common to see Arabic be every court's language because of the Abbasids, now China is that highest tier title at the beginning leading to Chinese being the most prestigious language.

But its fucking stupid that Portugal or Ireland would switch to Court Mandarin for any reasons
There should be some specific prerequisite for any kingdom to take a specific language:
>High form of their national language (es. Persian for any iranian)
>The language is already in court because its the liturgical language of the court religion (a mechanic they should really just port from EU V), like arabic for any muslim country
>"Cultural zones", meaning in some places its common to adopt a specific court language, while in outside that area it would never be used unless conquest (chinese outside china)
>Some empires should just never be allowed to switch unless the player controls them (byzantines with greek)

The ck3 modding community is fucking retarded. Nobody wants to make flavor content for England, France, Italy or Germany (outside of the Holy Roman Triumph modder). An obese and aggressively homosexual nudist giant that communicates exclusively in war declarations and pounding your ass while laughing at forcing you to learn fucking finnish as your court language. His harem includes, but is not limited to every head of every major religion left in the world. Castrated of course. The Hegenig of the Empire of Futa Jalon, and formerly the booty warriors company will reign supreme.
The kicker is, all of this still makes me objectively less gay than 95% of this thread.

I'm scared of suddenly finding a bunch of time invalidated by being made a vassal of China the instant some guy gets declared Emperor. Happened to me in a Dali game within the past week, but Dali at least I guess is technically part of the Hegemony of China however bullshit that was getting auto-vassalized in the middle of trying to yoink Cheng Du

I want to restore the Roman Empire as the Byzantines in CK3 in the earliest start date.
Any tips? I was thinking of giving up Syracuse to the Moslems, and then focusing hard on nation and dynasty building, as in making buildings that give money and development and hosting special events.
Hopefully in a few generations, most of the empire will be rolling in money and manpower and I can go take Bulgaria and do the same to that territory, and then spend the rest of the game biting chunks out of the Arabian empire and the HRE.
>>
>>2249828
I didn't think you could get auto-vassalised like that. When I reformed it, the decision just activated the hegemony mechanics. There were still some pockets of China that definitely didn't become vassals that I had to conquer afterwards.
>>
>>2249994
wish I had the foresight to keep the save, I don't think it was modded and I'd like to test out what caused it exactly without clicking through events for potentially hours
If I had to guess, being in the middle of a "consolidate china(? forgot name)" cb might have done it, especially considering once China broke some guy with a spiral snakehemia looking ass realm already had the land/tributaries necessary to immediately reform the Empire. I don't know why I didn't test at the time what happened if I booted in debug and just auto-won the territory I wanted and let him reform China after the fact, both as Nanzhao and as whatever the fuck the southwestern empire is called.
felt like massive bullshit considering Nanzhao/Dali, regardless.

Dealing with the East is usually rather trivial as the Abbasids collapse after a while on top of having to deal with pretender wars constantly.
The most time consuming part is Italy, as you have to fabricate claims to conquer there. Every other piece of land you need can be won via holy wars.
Even with some bad luck you can easily reform the Roman empire within a 100 years.

Much like real life, it becomes a game of extending your dynasty's reign by maintaining the country's prosperity. In theory, it's a fine idea for a gameplay loop, by in practice, most players that can take the seat of hegemon have no issue keeping a stable realm, especially after becoming the most powerful ruler in the game.

Never really gave Diplomacy a chance but it’s pretty cool. Purchasing truces from your war targets most powerful vassals is unbelievable. Buying claims on powerful artifacts is a nice prestige dump for feudal, especially in the agot mod buying dragon eggs or Valyrian steel weapon claims. I pretty much only used the left tree too. It feels like everyone in the game wants you to rule them. Would recommend if you’ve never done it.

Any idea what causes the Hold Court event in CK3 to occur where you are able to create a city even as a tribal? A while ago I decided to fuck around a bit on shit like hunt success with CK3 because I got sick and tired of the legendary hunt "success" rates, and when I looked into some of the stuff in there I tried to look for information what exactly some of the shit involved in the calculation processes do. Like "ceiling" for example, a simple = yes or = no from the looks of it but I wasn't able to find anything about what exactly it does and just figured to leave that thing alone. I think I know what it does, but I prefer when games where you can edit ingame shit just with a text editor have some up-to-date place that explains what every god damn thing the devs have come up with actually does.

That's probably been asked a thousand times before, but any mods that make female characters actually female?

for the sake of your sanity, you should realize the swedes are in all likelihood excusing themselves from doing more work. This has the very unfortunate side-effect, in the case of hardcoded behavior, of fucking up the potential to mod some things without employing some real jank-ass workaround, assuming it's even possible
I think it'd make sense to weigh a culture's generated characters, and willingness of parents/guardians to assign martial education, based on that culture's stance on Martial gender. That would mitigate quite a lot of oddness, though it wouldn't stop Equal Martial cultures from Amazonmaxxing. IDK if there even is a Female Martial culture, wasn't Nubia Equal? I don't remember how martial and prowess are currently weighted in Vanilla between the sexes anymore admittedly, I've spent too much time playing EK2 and all that shit's equal martial, so I've gotten to see Equal Martial behavior on large scale. Wet nurses and pregnant women dying in battle all the time if I don't take the time every year to forbid them from being knights. Why the fuck are pregnant women and wet nurses in the thick of it? Why are my babies sucking some amazon's tit in the middle of battle? She keeps them safe I guess!
Regardless, it'd mean not having to spend oodles of time dedicated explicitly to factoring in sex-based musculature for Prowess abstraction that could be better spent on some shit like the College of Cardinals, Pope fight, Venice, Genoa, trade goods, missionaries, the fucking Crusades, what the fuck does Becky matter? She's a pump and dump that can crush your head with a club or between her thighs that's never going to get to do anything but making fuck unless you enable her. Maybe she could spot her husband some Martial, if she's primary spouse, or educate his kids
Actually, manage your realm's education if you want martial badasses, the AI isn't, this is why your knights SUCK, the CPU doesn't give a FUCK
tl;dr you just lost the game

It would take me five minutes to do this, unironically.

Here's my updated chud mod. It sets the default gender law to male only and sets the homosexuality rate to 1% and bisexuality at 1% and asexuals at 0.1% (vanilla has like a 10% rate for faggots). Also makes only men being able to be commanders. And I know that male only isn't perfectly accurate but male preference is even more inaccurate since it doesn't take into account uncles etc. https://mega.nz/file/1DVC2Bra#HDnsRi6Sac0tS79n5fUkx5nGuhkpv6uUB1F-d82hPWs

They wanted Hegemonies to be the civilisations that played a big role in influencing all around them and that ultimately had a global legacy, that’s why alongside China they have the Roman Empire and the Islamic World. I wonder, do you think India falls into this category to the same extent? I’m being sincere, I’m a westerner so I would look to Iran/Perisa and its influence on the Irannic world and steppe ahead of India but maybe there’s a reason I don’t know why India would be on par with Rome and China and above Persia, and all other European Empiree.

India was almost never unified by native Indians (pretty much just the Mauryans and Guptas), and for the last 1000 years until 1947 it spent being dominated by foreign invaders (the first 800 years were by Turkic Muslims, then by the British)

The Mughals weren't the first Islamic invaders, in fact their first conquest was against the already established (and on the decline) Sultanate of Delhi. Muslims already controlled northern India for 500 years by that point (the Ghaznavid and then Ghurid conquests were around the years 1000-1200)

They can give you unique buildings, renown, dev growth, allow you to mass convert your realm to your religion, and instantly dejure drift kingdoms into your empire.
>>
>>2262885
read what their upgrades give, it's situationally beneficial as fuck. I forget if it's just one or more, but at least one of the piety legends at max tier refreshes the availability of a Kingdom-tier Holy War. The legends can have little modifiers for provinces with the legend associated with them which should show up in the Legends UI of the legend with little icons, they can be nice though idk how the fuck you control which effects get rolled.

>>2262249

>>
>>2262917
>upgrades
Guess I need to look into that closer. I've only seen those 3 modifiers it shows when you open the legends tab and see available ones.
>>
I hate that you can't stack multiple legends. It makes the entire system feel like pointless busywork. Oh you got your realm to support a legend with good county boni? Oh well half of the benefits are tied to your character which dies, so you better start a new one! Which will replace your old one, because it's impossible for a region to have more than one legend, that's realistic.
Like, I understand that infinitely stacking legend modifiers on provinces would probably be broken, but there has to be a middle ground. With the current system, I spread a legend with decent modifiers once and then I don't give a shit anymore after it's finished.
>>
>>2261319
I think it's a fine enough "what if" thing. Like that other anon said, India never really unified itself and if they put more flavor into it I think it would've really cool to have this massive what if land empire right next to China.
>>2262319
I think hegemons are fine from a gameplay perspective. If you've ever done a Rome run you know that any empire above like 6 kingdoms becomes an absolute bitch to manage even with drift
>>

>>
>>2262319
>the concept of "de jure" empires is foolish anyway
Hegemonies bypass the de jure map system. They literally gave you what you wanted.
>>

>>
>>2263831
It’s just a higher title than Emperor. To be honest, I’m pretty sure the only reason the actually added it is for mods like AGOT and Elder Kings who will make use of it for Westeros and Tamriel
>>
>>2264012
NTA but completely worthless in that as well. Kingdoms worked fine.
>>
>>2264046
it's because china's too large for what the "empires" are scoped as, since there's already a limit on title sizes since the game is hardcoded to a de jure hierarchy instead of a more freeform "character X owes Y to Z because ABC" (which, to be fair, their AI wouldn't be able to handle)
>>
>>2264258
Even the actual chinese don't agree with what you're saying.
>>
One of my two complaints about Hegemony would be calling vassal Emperors as Emperors and desu I haven't checked if that'd even the case
the other one is the Muslim Hegemony having outright bonuses, feels like a spit in the face for all the spiteful difficulty spikes Rome can get.
>>
>>2264308
My complaint over it is A: it encourages map painting in their only game where you have something to do that's not map painting.
And B: it's not remotely necessary. There are around 160-170 kingdom titles in the entire world. Including those tiny ass kingdoms of three duchies with two-three counties each. Your lowest base vassal limit as an empire is around a 100. And then you have all the nonsense you can stack on top of that like HRE having +20, reichkrone +25, culture and renown another +40 I believe, randomized artefacts that can have as many as +20 each. And then there's traits like conqueror or greatest of khans that give +50 and +70 each, which you can definitely go for if you want to cover absolutely every piece of clay. Stack all that and lost I probably forgot about and you'll end up with 280-300+ which is not unreasonable if you're going for that.

It's just crappy buyfagbait to buy a barren dlc imho.
>>
>>2263394
No. Just make sure you keep them in line so they don't rebel and you'll be more than fine
>>
>>2264268
The "empires" and "kingdoms" are mechanical terms for "rank 4 and 5" realms, with hegemons being rank 6
Because any one of those Three Kingdoms massively peak over every single other kingdom in Eurasia--how many baronies are within those realms in comparison to, say, Scotland or Egypt?
>>
>>2264478
Count is 1, duke 2, king 3, emp 4. Barons are not playable or ever independant so not a realm. Game already has de jure drift, already has no penalty for holding more than one king or empire title. Game already allows for tributaries of equal rank. Province count, density or lack of density is completely arbitrary and set by paradox, example saharan africa or some miniscule kingdoms and duchies in balkans.
I can't for the life of me think of a single positive mechanic or single example it makes sense from history where hegemon titles bring anything to the game.

You sure?

In CK2 barons can actually become independent under certain conditions
>>
>>2264789
Not a thing in 2 either I'm afraid. Unless you mean merchant republic houses but that's a separate mechanic added later. They CAN inherit or win a war that results them advancing to count+ tier but they absolutely can't form a realm as such while having baron primary title.

China has 380 dejure counties while the largest empires are the byzantine(188 counties) and holy roman empires(175 counties). If china was just one empire it would be twice as large as any other empire, having the Chinese emperor hold 5 empires titles would feel janky and lead to even more splitting on succession and independence factions.
>>
>>2264802
>Not a thing in 2 either I'm afraid
They aren't playable but independent baronies and exclave baronies are very much a thing that can happen in 2, and if you don't know about the "forment rebellion" councillor action you would have to check every single county in your realm to find these independent bastards cucking you out of decisions and achievements

I firmly believe they should have at least fifteen times that counties down to simulating each individual grain of rice or fish head. Consider this; paradox bloats province count artificially creating a problem and then creates a solution to their forced problem and advertise it as a feature. Help me out here, who the in the actual fuck cares for a gorillion +1 provinces in western china or rural tibet and what does that bring to the game?

As for the original vassal limit thing - it's not like you're going to directly hold each and every bloody county in your demesne. And even if you're a madlad, and you do - no vassal strategy is still quite viable.

>even more splitting on succession and independence factions.
I personally enjoy the drama, and no, I doubt it would have any significant gameplay changes if those "empires" were kingdom level instead since they're not a tribal on partition. A hegemon tier still faces claimant and such wars.

>>2264840
>They aren't playable
All I'm saying. Have never seen a baron tier realm, independant or otherwise in 3 tho. Love to see one if it's even possible and if you got one to share.
>>
>>2264802
>Not a thing in 2 either I'm afraid.
I have seen it happen.

I've seen like 3 or 4 baron vassals of the HRE scattered around Iberia go independent simultaneously after the HRE lost some war to France. In a different playthrough I've seen an independent muslim baron holding only a temple in Egypt several decades after it had been successfully crusaded.

I think it's because of titles being destroyed or some inheritance fuckery.

Didn't Paradox promise to deliver another content patch before this month ends? Where is it?

How is there still not a 3d model anime style character mod? People can make werewolves in PoD but not anime models?
>>
>>2264868
China has the same county density as Europe, slightly bigger counties in fact, it's just a really large realm. This is all a moot point though hegemonies are actually in vanilla, they aren't a DLC locked feature. China is still playable as a feudal realm, you can restore the Roman Empire (gives a hegemony title) or use mods with custom hegemonies just fine without the DLC.

I don't know what I want from this game..
>Being an overpowered King or Emperor is boring.
>Being a sitting duck in a tall duchy with tons of gold is boring
>Being a weak cuck push over that is about to become homeless is annoying
>Want to go to silkroad but don't want to be in Asia
>Want a cozy family safe space, but it's boring if you don't go to wars
>Want to become a tribal warlord with high stewardship and learning but it's impossible.
It's also bullshit that you require 3 holy sites to reform make your own religion.
And if you make offshoot, crusade will come after you with 50000+ strong army......

>>Want to become a tribal warlord with high stewardship and learning but it's impossible.
Quite possible, just, no reason to. But I get what you're saying. It's the one of the main complaints about the game since launch after all. You either conquer lots and the more you have the less you care about anything or you stay put, boom your development to moon and your single duchy like east francia or mercia has higher "GDP" than the rest of the world combined.

Essential reddit.

On viking stuff, my favorite was conquering Sardinia/Corsica and later sicilia, and building great work in every province, fueling the building by endless raids and ransoms.

Why is the marriage age 16? historically there were kings who got married at younger ages.
>>
>>2268345
Yes and these marriages are shown in-game. The Holy Roman Emperor (14 yo) is married to a Hungarian princess in the 1066 start.
The reason why is because it's weird as fuck to have in game, so they only do it when they have to.

According to canon law age of marriage was 14 for boys and 12 for girls.
Interestingly, CK3 has been defined for modding different ages for sexes, and another modifier for modding when they can reproduce.
So, they could make it so that men can marry at 14, girl at 12, and they can only have children after turning 16.
I wonder why they didn't do it. Surely they are legally safe because there is no graphic?
>>
>>2269312
I mean betrothal exists in game, so it seems like a non-issue really that the "marriage" only happens when characters come of age.

The real question is why do characters become adults at 16, but can only be nude at 18?
Its pretty much the same answer

Are grand campaigns just broken? It could have been my mistake in not paying attention to who I asked to do a secondary objective turned out to be a family head with no land and no army. He never declared war. I tried giving him an appointment and money to get MAA and no dice. His target as well was spread across 3 different owners so that might have confused the game.
It switched to expansion soon after anyway so I want to see if conquering the land myself manually will fix the project.
