It's so OVER for you now
>>
>>2239020
>Is that a.....option for a female governor?
>A FEMALE?? In my based grand strategy autistic map painting games?!?
>AAAIIEEE ITS OVER WEST IS FALLING

This is your and anybody giving a bad review
>>
>>2239044
>grrr it's only getting bad reviews because sexism
It's 2025, that shit doesn't work anymore.
>>
>>2239044
Actually as far as I can tell nobody is even complaining about the women but it's almost as nonsense. It's mostly people malding about AI. Like 50% of negative reviews are people complaining some loading screens may have been AI generated. Another 30% about ubi launcher, as if anyone was surprised. If you bought an ubisoft game in last 15 years you know it's a thing, it's not even bad, I don't get the performative hatred for it. Just don't buy their games instead of playing them anyway but leaving negative reviews.
The rest are mostly complaints about game performance or multiplayer stability.
>>
>>2239044
So you're saying that the actual game is mediocre at best.
>>
>>2239083
You can also scratch off half of those performance complaints as they are upset that their 5 year old even by standards of back then mid-range at best rig can't handle 144 fps. Meanwhile I enjoy the game almost maxed out on 4k with 90 fps most of the time. Haven't reached super late game yet to see performance there.
Multiplayer stability is an issue though which could witness several times in the past few days of people trying to stream the game.
The game itself is fine. It doesn't have the bulk of content as 1800 after several years of dlcs and expansions, but it has several new mechanics which provide a decent foundation for expansion.
I do want to see a breakdown of how many AI assets are in there though. I've seen one loading screen which seems likely to be AI, but I have yet to discover other things, besides maybe translations. People in the review section treat it like the entire game was generated from one single prompt which seems beyond overblown.
>>
>>2239044
most of the negative review seem to be whining about use of AI, which i dont give a fuck about
i only played 4 hours so far and its ... anno in a roman setting, with small changes to production buildings that now also give positive buffs that can be massively stacked
>>
>>2239044
Most of the negative reviews seem to not be about the game itself, but the use of AI. So ignoring all of those reviews, its probably hovering around ~80%
>>
>>2239533
>performance is terrible using an absurd amount of your hardware
>graphics not much better than 1800
>AI slop art
>less content than 1800 vanilla
>multiplayer is not playable causing people to desync and waste their time
>petty DEI like female leaders, including making a woman emperor of rome, black centurion, ect..
>Woke gender language in German utilization (really pisses off Germans in every game that does this)
>German government paying millions to Ubisoft to implement previously said DEI for development
>content creators get the game a month early for free with little regard to pre-order people getting nothing (they get what they deserve but their opinions are valid).
>stupid twitch drop items that pisses off some people because of little chance to watch and get the rewards
>the average gamer hates ubisoft with a passion
I could go on and on
>>
>>2239020
First things first. The game is beautiful, fun, engaging and good all around. The scenario is *chef's kiss. The gameplay itself doesn't differ much from 1800, which is a good thing. The management part, the trading part, finding and using specialists (items), planning your cities and industry paths is as fun as always in the series, but nothing brand new desu (besides the military). The Roman architecture is beautiful to look at, watching the animations and all the details in your growing cities in different regions is stunning.

So why the negative review?

I am pretty disappointed in the usage of AI here. Knowing the Anno series for as long as it exists, knowing the small little details everywhere is what made the Anno series always special, this is actually just sad.

did they really think they can get away with ai shit or is it a legit mistake
>>
>>2239639
>This image was a placeholder asset that unintentionally slipped through our review process. The final image is attached here and will replace the current version of this artwork with the upcoming 1.3 patch. With Anno 117: Pax Romana being our most ambitious Anno yet, we’ve assembled the largest team of artists ever for the franchise and to help meet the project's unique scope, they use AI tools for iterations, prototyping, and exploration. Every element players will experience in the final game reflects the team’s craft, artistry, and creative vision.
>>
AI loading screens in a 60 euro game are honestly pathetic but I wish people were this rabid and vocal about photobashing back when it was the omnipresent slopper's choice.

>land combat (returning, not "new")
>marshland reclamation (which might not sound like much, but consider how it could be applied in the 2070 setting or in terraforming in a future Anno game)
>religion
>a literal tech tree
However, 1800 is the better game right now. I think the 1st Century Rome setting was a huge mistake as it wasn't a time of innovation but in fact stagnation tech wise. We wouldn't see a return to technological development until the Middle Ages.
>>

Hall of fame is cute
Parallel pop class upgrades
Not all pop needs have to be met, but when they are, they can add far more to the common good
You can manually select what missions u wanna do, they're no longer random
Modular ship building
Religion is more detailed than in 1800, but I hope they'll expand it even further in the dlcs
Research is again more expanded and detailed
Production buildings bonuses and negative effects
Active pause, you can stop time, build whatever you want in advance, unpause and let everything do its thing
The all goods button in harbours, which I can't believe wasn't a thing before. You can mass manage resources now

How much of a hand does Ubisoft even have in the day to day operations and direction of Ubisoft Mainz? I thought due to their success they were pretty much left to get on with it as they were printing money?

I hate to be a faggot but I really don't want to pay for it since they have used AI. I know we like to joke and meme here that devs are dogshit but the Anno 1800 art was so good along with the music it was really immersive and soulful. Knowing they've used AI at all just tarnishes the entire thing and I can't appreciate it.
>>

You wonder how they could think that. Maybe they do actually believe they are making games for a certain demographic
>>
>>2241111
>How much of a hand does Ubisoft even have in the day to day operations and direction of Ubisoft Mainz?
No way to know for sure but iirc all ubisoft store unlocks, online interactions with global markets etc. was a Ubi HQ mandated thing.
Also hard to tell if they didn't go more hands on/expected more pressure because they are in such dire straits.

>I hate to be a faggot but I really don't want to pay for it since they have used AI.
Same. It was on my to buy list but this changes a lot. Both because it is so shoddily done and because anno was always this quaint comfy series which felt like it was filled with tons of genuine care for the games.
>>
>>2241138
>quaint comfy series which felt like it was filled with tons of genuine care for the games
The futuristic annos disnt have that feeling
>>
>>2241150
Really? I still think they had all that optimistic and surprisingly lighthearted outlook despite their setting.
Sure they didn't have the look and vibe of half-timbered houses and red tiled roofs but ultimately I still think they retained the core feeling.

Alright, let me check out the bad reviews.
>The campaign sucks
Yes, they always did. This is a sandbox game for fucks sake.
>They used AI
Didn't notice until people pointed it out (and now I'm looking at the loading screen pics and still don't see problem as they don't look AI generated). AI scare is overblown here. There is a difference between AI and AI-slop after all.
>Ubisoft launcher
Yeah but that's not new.
>Desync in multiplayer
Who the fuck plays a chill city builder game that takes you 3-4 weeks to build a big beautiful city across multiple islands with other people? Like do you meet up every day to build a few more chains? How does that even work and how are you not getting bored out your ass day 1?

Yet to see valid criticism. Perhaps the "not enough content one", but honestly 1800 was the same when it released. People forget shit like Cape Trelawny or the arctic or tier 3 New World was NOT in the base game.
>>
>>2242748
Letting AI be the deciding factor for someone to not play a game is CRAZY. who cares if the campaign sucks, its more of just a fancy tutorial and why the fuck does it bother so many people that it uses the ubisoft shit on startup.
>>
>>2242748
k what about the DEI, worse optimization and same graphics as 1800? Or are you only giving mealy-mouthed acceptances of the smaller problems?

Can someone confirm that the 'complexity' of the game has been dumbed down. I see that you don't need resources from the other session in order to max out yet I keep seeing people on reddit dancing around this issue saying "it's a different game, and challenges you in different ways".
I've only played 1800 previously but it was a massive thing to have to go adventure out to get stuff for your cities and create important necessary trade routes.
>>
>>2242462
The only people who pretend to like AI are the faggots starting 12 different start ups to sell it as a service and the disconnected braindead corporate executives who fall for ”the next big thing” every single time.
>>
>>2242558
Sounds like maybe you’re just a contrarian lolbert desu
>>
>>2243627
>"it's a different game, and challenges you in different ways".
From what I've seen I honestly don't know how anyone can argue that.
You can both "finish" the game without ever going to the other session and even with just one island.
There is tons of stuff you can trade for, even a lack of river spots and thus an inability to make tiles, isn't an issue. Imagine you can finish 1800 without ever producing your own bricks or steel and just buying it from traders.
Supposedly trade is also very fucked in terms of prices where you can make a hefty profit from just being the goods your people need.
Like buying lounges for 286 per ton but making 1142 from supplying the need.
>>
>>2243665
>You can both "finish" the game without ever going to the other session and even with just one island.
Why the fuck would anyone play this game then. I loved 1800 because of what it required from you and the biggest complaint I had with the DLC's was that because they wanted each individual DLC to not require the others then the actual DLC's didn't interact with each other. Also think docklands was a mistake.

Anyone against AI is just a luddite who doesn't understand what AI is actually used for. It's omnipresent now, in fact most of EU5's soundtrack for example was AI generated - including the song people like so much, Pain is Salvation.
