>>2246445This year I played HW 1, 2 and DoK, and while they're beautiful and intriguing games, the campaign scenarios were perfectly bland. Mostly you just have to beat these braindead enemies sending scripted wavespam by countering it with your own spam, and the endgame was just about smashing everything with your cruisers.
>>2246757Play Cataclysm (branded as Homeworld Emergence on GOG, thanks to the faggots at Blizzard). It has the best campaign among all, and its units are quite diverse, none of that standardized unit roster. And your enemies are DEFINITELY not normal; try to fight them as in the other games, and you are in for a world of hurt. But then again, what makes these games great ain't their gameplay, but their stories and ambience and presentation. This pasta that I saved a long while ago explains it far better than I ever could.

beat xcom2didn't play the war of the chosen. if it serves the same funciton as enemy within from the first nu com, then Im probably not going to play it unless i get the feeling to play xcom again. I don't think the story line picks up from the end of xcom two and is merely just another layer to be placed ontop of xcom2's story line.Does war of the chosen add anything to the story other than the three new baddies you have to defeat? I really liked their theme of propaganda and building a rebellion. While I was playing the last mission of assaulting the alien homeworld the alien rhetoric I found so convicinving, the only thing keeping me going is the gameplay. If I had actually been in universe for xcom2 I probably would have been sucked in by alien rhetoric. is chimera squad considered cannon?I also ended up beating starcraft 2I find find similarities in the wearcraft three and starcraft 2 where they both culminate in fighting some big bad thats "larger than life".Also noticed the need to compare between prince valerian and prince arthas. they even look similar. I worry about the future of starcraft fully expecting blizzard to release some mobile slop game like they did for warcraft strategy. but after playing the Nova Covert Ops missions I kinda feel like a Starcraft diablo like would be a step in the right direction. Though a starcraft/warcraft grand strategy game is something that would be the obvious next step for blizzard and the -craft strategy franchises. The way they did the campaign about upgrading troops doing research and other such bells and whistles a warfract or a starcraft gsg would be awesome. I also really like the design of the ux/ui of their games. the buttons and graphical interface are so immersive and they just pop. anyways I want to get this off my chest. thanks this thread is a around so I don't have to post any new ones.
>>2266023I used to play it a lot but I cant get back into it. It looks so bland and the soundtrack is mehhh, gives of a nihilistic vibe => no thanks.

>>2248890I found a fanfic collection of supreme commander and I liked so much I consider it an unofficial novel series.
>>2267031>the obvious next step for blizzard and the -craft strategy franchises-is to be bought for cheap by the chinks and turned into a gacha RPG, and/or an always online procgen endless missions thing with a P2W cashshop.Blizzard is dead as fuck talent-wise, it's only a matter of time until they go the Ubisoft way.
>>2267279i mean since the new warcraft strategy game is just another mobile slop clash spin off minion masters ripoff, i dont doubt it. considering how diablo 4 had some p2w elements as well then there was diablo immortal. and the korean game developers (since korea loves starcraft) dont give me much hope either.but i can always hope for the best outcome. a starcraft arpg and a warcraft gsg.
i also want to add that I beat starcraft 2 on normal. but when i first played starcraft 2 it was the WoL and it was on hard. playing on normal didn't really match up to the weight, gravity, emotional sink to the story line cinematics. but on hard mode the emotinal wieght did correlate quite well to the storyline. i felt like those cut scenes were earned in hard mode. I mainly just played on normal so I could get through the storyline. the game is probably ment to be played on hard mode.
>>2258906First time I heard about this. It looks very interesting and surprisingly high quality and I would love to try it out. I'm not surprised that it failed though, RTS and MMO don't mix well on paper, not to mention how incredibly niche it sounds

What's there minimum requirement for you to call something an RTS? If I wanted to start making a game inspired by WoW, what should it look like? Everybody starts with a player character and can make units via necromancy and/or mecha or something? Any insights? Do you have to be able to make units?

Beyond All Reason is making me want to get back into RTS for the first time since SC2 LotV came out. I just love the controls that let me draw lines of units, spread to minimize splash, etc. And the factories can be set on repeat, or you can create quotas to keep specific amounts of units on the battlefield. It feels like these features should have been in all the RTS games I played 20 years ago.

>>2281363>is tiberium crisis actually that bad?Campaign there is the most amateurish thing i've seen, in spite of the fact that Chinese are known for designing good missions. >>2267031Chimera Squad is likely canon. The direction that nu-XCOM was headed towards starting with War of the Chosen was "ayylmaos were good kids, on their way to college, brainwashed to work for ethereals, gonna need more money for dem programs". I didn't mind Advent traitors fighting alongside humans, but as Chimera Squad itself points out the vast majority of alien races are evil and cannibalistic if not outright sociopathic, but we're just supposed to put up with them because "we would never ever do a racism".And this is uniquely not a case of modern politics, but rather people within the XCOM fanbase who want alien squadmembers. Which on the surface is "yeah, okay, sure, here you go", but when it comes down to the lore it makes no sense. There's this faction in Chimera Squad that wants to just go home, and my reaction to them is "why are we trying to stop them?"
>>2289761>people within the XCOM fanbase who want alien squadmembersThen they should have made an opfor game. It'd be pretty cool to play as an Advent spec-ops counterinsurgency squad.
