Guess not. Well, magnets there and I guess I'll just go freeze to death with the rest of my colony.
I've tried the original Surviving Mars recently. While the game appears to have everything necessary to make it a good colony sim, it feels utterly soulless all the way from the UI to the graphics
>>2253912I dare say they improved on that with the newly added politics.
>>2253536all the bugs they promised to fix aren't fixed and in fact there are more, even worse bugsalso, no modsliterally not even worth pirating
I'm still confused what they were even trying to achieve with those games - Mars and Aftermath or whatever the post-apo one was called. They both feel like some autismo's half-baked game idea, except it was done by mid-sized studio that clearly had no idea what they are making and just adding shit on a fly.
>>2254170Fair enough. Can't say I'm not having fun with it but it might just be starvation for a nice citybuilder.
>>2254342Honestly should have looked at its contemporaries like Rimworld and Dwarf fortress. Boring otherwise. Even sim city was lacking real conflict.
>>2254342Mars is a comfy game even at higher difficulties.
>>2254342Some idealistic star trek inspired globohomo if I had to guess and then paradox came in and said, yes, that's nice, but what about dlc.>>2254484If anything I'd call it closer to frostpunk.
>>2253536i'm too retarded to play this send help
>>2254531>le Globohomoooooo let me guess: you're Slavic and poor
>>2254781I'm not too crazy about russians actually, the RC driller is nice but those rockets are so slow. And 22m base price for rare minerals? Fuck that.
>>2254531>then paradox came in and said, yes, that's nice, but what about dlc.
>>2254531>t. terminally onlineTouch brass
>>2253536>Claim they fixed trains>Shit's still buggedI have colonists fresh from Earth going straight to a nearby train station, boarding the train, and then running back on foot to where they started just to get to the dome next to where they landed. I haven't even touched things from Below and Beyond yet, and I hear that's still a mess too.
>>2258140Trains and shuttles definitely work for me but asteroid landers are fucked and then some.
>>2258140I haven't seen any bugs myself but the underground and asteroid content still really suck on the conceptual level
what about the abyss one?
>>2258140I hate trains in this game. Haemimont games always make something that looks good on the surface but filled to the brim with bugs and annoying quirks.
To whoever plays this garbage: DO NOT SET TRAIN TRACKS TO TRANSPORT COLONISTS ONLY
>>2260454Sucks they removed push orders from them and how they're just better depots now.>>2260771I promise you they work A-OK on this version.
>>2254531>idealistic star trek inspired globohomoI genuinely hope you learn how to not be a loser one day. You probably won't, but it'd be nice.
>>2253536I played through the original game twice when it came out.I thought it was a very well designed "experience" to put it in nebulous faggot terms because I can't find the words to describe its strengths.
>>2261390Oh, right, the question was about the remake. No, no reason to touch that shit. Nor the DLCs.Playing through the original game without any DLCs or mods was a complete experience that can only be diminished by tarnishing your memory of it with random shit shoehorned in to satisfy paradox.
>>2260771What's the problem? You just treat them as reskinned passages they are.
>>2261152>I promise you they work A-OK on this version. They don't, just like 2 trains per track
>>2261894
>>2261894Seems fine to me.
>>2261924Right now trains don't move at all and colonist work from dome to mine rare metals. Also, they constantly swap work slots. I don't know how this shit works anymore
>>2262000Station A needs to be in range of a dome with labor, the dome needs to allow passages for work and station B needs to be in range of a second dome if you want migration to and fro or in range of outside workplaces like mines. Works with the new survivalist minihabs too. They CAN'T use stations to work between two domes or use services but I assume the old mod that allowed that will be updated sooner or later. Resources are balanced the same as two universal depots between a drone station, which is a massive shame because I really like the old manually set push/balanced/receive system they had.
>>2254781>>2255340>>2261279holy crap was one word all it took to inspire this meltdown?
>>2262947please understand, he's been vaccinated like six times
>Same shitty, soulless, detail-less UI seen in countless other games
>>2262053>Works with the new survivalist minihabs tooactually what's the intended usage for those?
at least it's not as bad as Per Aspera
>>2263440I have no idea what they were thinking but it's extremely affordable solution for retirement homes, tourist ghettos or outright replacement for early domes. Doesn't suffer from disasters or renegades and doesn't require water or oxygen either. They can even fuck and make kids inside if it's on a boosted vista.
>>2263447Correct
>>2262000Have you manually assigned your trains to tracks?
>multistation commute is now possible without modsNeat
>>2262053>the dome needs to allow passages for workFUCK, you are right. Trains are working now. I hate pdx so fucking much it's unreal>>2264947Yes
>>2266535Glad I could be of help anon. >I hate pdx so fucking much it's unrealYou're not the only one. t. really had hopes for imperator
>>2253536The original had a lot of Elon Musk quotes, I wonder if they retained any.
>>2267039They're still in. As far as I can tell none of them have been altered. Yet.
there's an update? I remember reaching the end with two or three different endgame scenarios already.
>>2267046Yeah, I'm not gonna buy the game if they're quoting the Hitler of the 21st Century.
>>2272449
>>2272483
>>2263440you build them when the factions want them
>>2267039>>2267046kind of surprised someone at Paradox or on their groomer hole of a discord hasn't thrown a piss baby fit over it yet
>>2253536>old game buggy and shitty dlc content>spit polish a "relaunched" version with bug fixes and adjustments for full price>there are more bugs, the dlc content is still shit and the new stuff is halfbaked
>>2286965Hey, the dlc is quite cool. Too bad it didn't and still doesn't work most of the time.
>>2253536Mother of spoilers
>>2298009>don't post link>fucking shill>post shortened link>fucking spoof reee>post entire thing>omg wtf
>>2253912It's the 60s dome aesthetic.
>1.0.4 fixed asteroids and undergroundNeat
The thing that annoyed the hell out of me in the original SM was the braindead behavior of the transport drones. I start a landscaping project at the wrong place and time and suddenly all the drones in the wide vicinity stop supplying food to my cities because there is a rock that needs moving. I had a lot of fun with my first playthrough, where I took my sweet time of things and let everything play out at the natural pace my clueless approach could manage; then I tried a second playthrough where I attempted to be reasonably efficient about it, and I could not get my transport drone network to manage the logistics that my somewhat tight schedule demanded, even after five different playthrough attempts. The moment I tried to optimize or minmax anything, my logistics would fall apart due to robot retardation. Did they improve on any of this in the remaster?
>>2311007Kinda. I've got this monstrosity running quite well without either inventor or japs but you'd still want good hub coverage, reasonable additional hubs with shorter range in high traffic areas so they don't haul that single cog across the map and additional charging stations and depots in high traffic areas. Trains and shuttles help a LOT.
>>2311089Sure, but all of these are only viable from somewhere around the halfway point of a playthrough. I am trying to be reasonably efficient in the early game, without having the drones take their sweet-ass time of things, while still having the ability to spend downtime on landscaping.
>>2311106Trains are really fucking cheap and not tech gated now. Also RC dozers and transports exist.
>>2311255Oh, they're available from the beginning, so that you only need drones for local transport? That might actually change things considerably.
>>2311276Yeah, small stations are available from the start. The upkeep is also just plain metal instead of cogs.
>>2311007Solution 1: more robotsSolution 2: japanSolution 3: use the priorities buttonThrow in some charging stations where drones spend a lot of time if you don't have a hub right there, otherwise they have to go back to get power and from there evaluate what job is closest
