When you are raiding some affluent capital, are there some limits or lower chances for stealing their artifacts if you managed to steal some already in a prior raid a couple of years before? Or are the odds for stealing any kind of artifact just really low?
>>2271392>be peedog>introduce artifact-vanishing engine issue in all under heaven>no one plays vanilla for more than 10 years before posting asinine greentext reviews about incest on steam so it doesn't matter because you have to run the game for 20 before the issue starts presentingSimply epic.
>>2272561elaborate
>>2272566Every artifact, script_value, etc. is logged in a finite table which paradox both added substantially more entries to in the form of east asia and, from my understanding adjusted down in size to prevent lag. When the table gets filled out, which will happen if you run the game long enough to generate 20 000 new entries the save is, to use a technical term, fucked as scripts start to break and less importantly but more noticeably the game is unable to pull 2d and 3d artwork for artifacts. Needless to say most total conversion mods add enough shit to max out the fucking thing on game start.
Since the new patch I keep getting 1 star learning educations on my first character or heir.
>>2273176The byzantines always choke on duchies in my game, they don't give them away, I think they broke administrative and not just because they can't handle the treasury
Did they fix artifacts yet? This is from 1.18.0, a book I paid over half a thousand to get.In general artifacts are way worse than pre AUH, but this one just stunned me when I saw it.

>>2276772I'd say Ambitious fits the most, due to how opinion modifiers work etc. Someone who is ambitious always wants the highest title, including their lieges.Maybe Greedy / Vengeful as well
What is the Peasant Leader trait supposed to be really?I thought it was a trait for the leaders of peasant rebelions but one can gain it as long as they get land as a lowborn. And you don't even have to lead anything to get it as any nobody peasant can spawn with it.

>>2277022>>2277022>I thought it was a trait for the leaders of peasant rebelionsThat's how it is in CK2.I think randomly generated characters can spawn with them but I it's very rare.
Interesting how AUH increased the numbers to 75K for a few days, but now they have dropped back 20K, which was the player base before AUH.I thought the whole idea of adding Asia was pandering to Chinamen and doubling the active player base. I guess that didn't work out.
Hope it's possible to mod in japanese aesthetics onto cultures in ek2 after the update, it'd be neat to see how that pans out for beast races and goblinkin. And some mer I guess.

Will Elder Kings now have Akavir due to the All Under Heaven Expansion Pack?
>>2289636No, they have to add trannies and pronouns to the mod first, which are much more important.
>>2289636You should expect Sea of Ghosts/Atmora/Pyandonea(/Solstice?) in no particular order beyond Atmora probably strictly only coming after Sea of Ghosts well before they even consider pushing for Akavir.I'd really, really rather them focus on Tamriel itself. Akavir's cool and all as some mysterious exotic thing but that's asking them to take a whole lot of predominantly fan-canon content on their plate when they're already buttfucked on the regular every time paradox shits out a patch.
the more I play in china the more I wonder just what the fuck all these devs were doingdid nobody fucking sit down and play there? who thought this exam simulator was fun?
>>2290482>the more I play in china the more I wonder just what the fuck all these devs were doingFunny how this describes the entire game still. It took them nicer 4 years to finally fix crusades in the crusader kings game. Without a doubt one of the most incompetent, aimless teams over ever seen, definitely the most incompetent one within Paradox
>>2290487I'm not that cyncial.I had plenty of fun with CK3 even on release. Much of the "core fantasy" of a medieval dynasty simulator worked and was fun. Planning inheritances, schemeing, etc. But what the fuck is China? It doesn't feel like any of that applies. When I think of imperial China, I think of court drama, schemeing between a horde of vasalls and court ladys and all that jazz. Almost nothing like this is in the game. If you want to improve your position, you grind your exams. Over and over and over.
>>2290497I agree with you that the basics of the medieval dynasty sim are there. It’s just that events are still very static, don’t respond dynamically to new information, are easy to exploit, or are just buggy even after all these years. It’s still fun, but 5 years after release, I’ve come to expect much more. I can imagine how all of those problems affect China… I mean even the devs have made mod collab dlc packs in the past so they’re definitely aware that mods have been doing at lot of what they should have been doing all along.

>>2292763>>2292785To be fair, cultures dont just suddenly diverge one day. It is always several centuries of build up. And this being 200 years apart from the time it is supposed to diverge. So it makes a perfect sense to me.

>>2293860To begin with, it is retarded to even have Italian culture in the early ages. It shouldn't spawn until the late game and even then it wasn't properly formed until the late 17th to early 18th century.

i'm currently making a mod to "disable" different areas of the world for a more concise game, as I know some of the mods that cut out pieces of the map can cause bug errors due to missing provincesare there any more geographical split-ups that anyone would like? So I'm trying to reform Confucianism to make my character head of the religion and to allow marriage within the dynasty for my eugenics program (my dynasty is already at ~200+). Confucianism has Benevolent Governance, Filial Piety, and a third tenet based on the faith - Daoxue/"rational learning" has Pursuit of Knowledge and Jingxue/"practical learning" has Harmonious Society. I'm probably going to drop Filial Piety for Harmonious Society and since I guess this will be like a fusion of the two faiths, what should it be called? I tried looking up the words for "perfection" and I got "wanmei" and "zhishan" - so Wanxue or Zhixue? What adjective and term for followers am I supposed to use, by the way?
i'm far too Victoria/EU brainded to get a feel for the game. How prevalent is making claims for expansion vs. setting up dynasties to inherit land you want? I feel like I'm playing the game like an EU4 campaign with how much I try to get claims.
>>2314071greatly depends on where you what and how you playreligious wars are easy, tribal wars are easyforging claims is slow and hardif youre big, it's easy to vasallise others, easy to create titles giving you de jure claimsif youre small, you may have to settle for random county claimsas said above, it varies if youre just getting the hang of things maybe try marrying your sons/matri marry your daughters to someone third, fourth, whatever in line for a greater title (kingdom, duchy) and then you can try to make them rise the ranks of inheritance with assassinations or, if that fails, invite them to your court. as soon as their sibling inherits the title, they get a claim too and you can press it in a war for them

>>2314475It used to take me 3-5 minutes, but I've got it down to about 39 seconds on my SSD, and 16 seconds on my NVMe. Oddly, running it natively off Linux seems to have greatly sped up the load times.
>>2314712>courtier leaving randomly to become an adventurer and invading the realm he is already the heir ofCap

>>2314873but it did happenI don't know it they changed the conditions for the event later but it did happen.
>>2314053So I had incidentally added Ephemeral Grace as my culture's 7th tradition which gives increased stress loss for Compassionate, Temperate, Patient, and Calm traits, which I think is important for Celestial realms. Confucianism already has Compassionate, so I decided to replace Benevolent Governance with Harmonious Society and Filial Piety with Inner Journey. Benevolent Governance gave access to the Inspection activity and completing inspections gave piety. It also made Loyal a virtue but it does not seem to make it appear any more often among the faithful - character finder showed me ~30 Loyal characters in my realm compared to ~400 Compassionate, Honest, or Just characters. Harmonious Society is a side-grade; probably an upgrade - after you're done studying or you're landed, you can still sway, which effectively gives the same results as Loyal, and successful sways give piety. You don't automatically have access to Inspections, but you get an increased chance for Temperate, which gives +2 stewardship - and you can still get access to Inspections later on.Filial Piety's automatic hooks on your descendants are only kind of useful for very slowly draining gold from them or inviting child descendants to your court for better control. It's also just kind of gay to do to your descendants. It also reduces the chance for Burdened, but hopefully with the increased stress loss, it still shouldn't appear too often. Inner Journey gives Patient and access to an activity with the potential for stress loss among other things, which should be usable while studying. Patient also has increased bonuses from my Intensive Farming cultural tradition, so that's nice. So Patient and Temperate over Calm because of that Intensive Farming synergy and because these fucking nerds need better stewardship and the tenets that give Calm are all pacifist shit anyway.I'm calling it Yixue because "willpower" is apparently Yizhi. Yixue, Yixue, Yixue, and Yixue.

>>2319838You more sound like the type to have the incontinence trait
>>2319805Because the only "strategy" is for money and whatever kind of MAA you're specifyingPublic order doesn't matter because all peasant rebels are shit, development always comes with income bonuses, and sanitation is a placebo effect. Without any kind of pops, rural/urban split, or differentiation between building ownership, there's nothing but just long-term investment. Compare it to how Medieval 2 Total War was balancing>public order: modifier cancer; control is sitting a marshal around and then ignoring it forever>sanitation: doesn't work and isn't worth it because of event spam >religion: by your council>population growth (taxes): doesn't exist unless development, in that case it's passive>economic output: your main buildings>city tier/defenses (paired with public order, driven by pops): paired with innovations, also gives income>new military units: globally by innovations >military upgrades: by buildings (the AI doesn't know which ones to build)Look at that, you've only 3 buildings, all driven by how you want them with no external factors
>>2320007meanwhile, the other province modifiers are pretty negligible >combat advantage: natural via terrain>travel safety: never any issue>fortification level: part of the city tier/defenses upgrade>garrison: a raw numbers gameat least duchy capitals get their unique building, but only Universities provide a mechanic, rather than just modifiers
>>2320007>Without any kind of pops, rural/urban split,That's some potential for interesting discussion.I don't think any PDX game captures urbanization very well. Maybe EU5 and VIC3, but I haven't played them. For CK3, I think one way to represent urbanization would be to have an urbanization percentage for every barony, which would represent the percentage of people who live within the main settlements, and not in the countryside. And such a percentage could modify garrison size, levies, taxes, and disease resistance. But people would say it is too similar to Development, though Development is a kinda shit mechanic and should be replaced with something.
I dont think CK needs pops or a more developed economy/urban management. It's a game about characters and that's fine. Not every paradox title needs to evolve into the omnigame that features every system to simulate every aspect of reality. If you want more complexity, put it in the stuff that matters. Interpersonal relationships, succession, laws.
>>2320125>If you want more complexity, put it in the stuff that matters. Interpersonal relationships, succession, laws.Based. Just don't add paradox style "complexity" for complexity sake, ie, now you need ten more clicks and three submenus to have less agency than before.
If I make a 20 minute long video of me playing tall (afk-ing) and then TAKING OVER THE WORLD in every duchy in the game do you think I could put every ck3 streamer out of a job?
>>2320125I'm (>>2320007) not saying it should have a pop minigame, but it is a brainless binary system without any complexities or strategic thought to itThese problems get exarcerbated by all of the mods that try to add a pop system too, just irrelevant event and modifer spam because 150k dead pops means literally nothing to the game's systemsI'd be for something with mid-level depth, even if it's branching buildings, like within estates, or some adjacency bonuses comboing within/between baronies. Buildings/conditions that affect Popular Opinion or Maximum Control, instead of ignorable modifers for 15 years, or give a malus in addition to some bonuses--but can be balanced by players with a double digit IQ. You can still build and forget for the most part, but maybe find a reason, once in a blue moon, to look at a settlement and solve a problem by switching or adding a building type, it's not like you're already overflowing with gold. Estates show that it's really only possible to care about the depth of one location at a time, so I don't think their level of detail would be necessary for all 13 of your holdings. But, most of all, I'd like the ability to say "I have 5000g, replace this level 3 light infantry barracks with a level 6 cavalry building" in a single click
>>2320489>replace this level 3 light infantry barracks with a level 6 cavalry building" in a single clicknta and I think that would be an incredibly bad change for multiple reasons but if you're that set on having it, it should be pretty easy if tedious to mod in. What you can do manually set each and every building to replace to with each and every other building, or at least those relevant to your brand of tism but on equal level. Just see how certain duchy buildings are coded and hotwire off that.
>>2320125I did not propose adding pops. But I do feel like the game does need something resembling basic socio-economic factors, because they impacted historical behaviors.Take Reconquesta, for instance. The social pyramid of Al-Andalus was kinda weird. The majority were Christian Hispano-Romans, ruled by a minority of Arabs. The Arabs relied on two warrior castes to keep the Christian majority in line: the Berbers from Africa and Slavic slaves from the Balkans. The two warrior castes kept each other on the line. However, following the Christianisation of the Balkans, the number of Slavic slaves dropped, and the Arabs became more reliant on the Berbers, who quickly tore the Caliphate of Cordoba apart.

>>2320585At least something like>Majority and Minor culture/religionwith no numbers associated with them, kinda like the old minorities mod, just making them stages of cultural/religious conversion
>>2321408Two-culture province you? Where do both cultures have a percentage? That could be imagined, and actually make the culture acceptance mechanic they introduced in Royal Court useful.Imagine if two cultures in the provinces have low acceptance of each other's cultures, it would contribute to control and popular opinion. And maybe cause race riots. It's funny how much medieval people tended to hate minorities. Like 4th Crusader was partially motivated to avenge massacre of the Latins in Constantinople, where the Byzantine Emperor encouraged the Greeks massacre the Venetians within the city, because Venetian merchants were so successful they were running Greek citizens out of business.
>>2321426>>2321426>Where do both cultures have a percentage?None. Just have three ranks: Dominant Culture (ie, driving effects), Major Culture, and Minor culture, assigned a score range, 3-4, 2, and 1, respectively. Each county has a culture limit, say 8 points, split between the three sections. Cultures/religions rank up 1 point by occupying a spot in the Culture Limit when promoting/converting; if there is no limit, they take one from a more dominant culture. For example, you are a Bavarian, and just took over Prussia in a Crusade.>LandDominant Prussian (4), Major Lithuanian (2), Minor Wend (1)>1 run of Convert Culture. Dominant Prussian (4), Major Lithuanian (2), Minor Wend (1) Bavarian (1).>2nd run of Convert Culture. Limit is at 8: will now subtract from others. Dominant Prussian (3), Major Lithuanian (2) Bavarian (2), Minor Wend (1).>3rd run of Convert Culture. Dominant Bavarian (3), Major Prussian (2) Lithuanian (2), Minor Wend (1).>4th run of Convert Culture. No higher ranked culture than Bavarian. Remove 1 starting from a random Major Culture, else Minor. Dominant Bavarian (4), Major Lithuanian (2), Minor Prussian (1) Wend (1).>4th run of Convert Culture. Cannot go higher than 4. Remove 1 starting from a random Major Culture, else Minor. Dominant Bavarian (4), Minor Prussian (1) Lithuanian (1) Wend (1)>5th run of Convert Culture. Remove 1 from a Minor Culture. Dominant Bavarian (4), Minor Prussian (1) Lithuanian (1)>6th run of Convert Culture. Dominant Bavarian (4), Minor Prussian (1)>7th run of Convert Culture.Dominant Bavarian (4)The same goes for religious conversions. No messy population count, no tracking percentages, just 3 tiers with addition/subtraction. If a Popular Uprising loses, subtract 1 from that Culture, the same with a Religious Uprising's faith. Add in some Minority Expulsion/Reception events like they did with All Under Heaven, and it's lightweight, if time consuming: Dominant could be reduced to limit of 3
>>2321456Actualy, rather than cases of "random" it uses the lowest Cultural Acceptance and removes from there, so that if there's some kind of Ostleidung event that adds a Frisian minority, they'll be removed last. So, there's no weekly calculations or regular updates for minute adjustments, and relies on longterm conversion efforts, if there's some kind of colonization/trading post or proselytism Council actions. Maybe the black death can reduce all levels by 1 (a Dominant can not be reduced from 3 other than Cultural conversion, however), while a tier 2 disease might remove 1 from a random minority. A siege has a low % to do the same, if the barony is stormed.Low Cultural/Religious Acceptance, as you said, could prompt events of tension that reduce a "pop," but always as singular, finite events without any wishy-washy fractions or decimals. Eastern and Nomads might have different limits for tensions, given how they usually were less specific about philosophies, while the jizya tax decree could actually do something pending the minorities, if not something about a Ghulam army being created from a minority "pop" (reducing that by 1 for a free, loyal army)
>>2321456>>2321460Ok but how about we expand the map to australia an polynesia instead? I can't wait to conquer hawaii as nippon-norse-jew god king hasteinn the homosexual

>>2321456And this improves the game, how?
>>2321590Adds some more province detail and could inspire some unique mechanics. It'd be lightweight and inobtrusive, and can offer a bit of depth without needing to do any specific micromanagement or complex calculations.>European ChristiansTrade factories, Jewish communities, Drang Noch Esten situation, proselytizing missions, crusader "colony" complexities>PagansSyncreticsism, proselytizing missions, viking merchants >IslamGhulam/mamelukes, Jizya/the dhimmi, slave trade >NomadsDifficulties of ruling settled lands, genocides, slave trade, societies settling steppe peoples>AsiaMultiplural socities, Han hegemony/sinicism, conquest dynasties effects on Mandate of Heaven>Africatribal fluidity, semi-nomad features, dlave trade>IndiaReligious fluidity
>>2321632>It'd be lightweight and inobtrusive, and can offer a bit of depth without needing to do any specific micromanagement or complex calculations...we're talking about a paradox game here. Micro made pointlessly tedious with submenus and TPS killing calculations under the hood is what they specialize in. I don't mind the idea of more regional flavor but let's be real, if they do add it it'll be pointlessly convoluted and either barely impactful or byzantine oyster farms 2.0 tier busted. And will require months if not years of patching.

>>2321456I guess this pretty slick proposal, and certainly miles ahead of the current system. But I don't know I feel some of type of "sloth" system might serve the same purpose and provide additional benefits.
>>2321796Sloth system?
>>2321932*slotEvery county has a fixed number of slots (say 5):Every slot has a culture/religion. And you convert the slots one by one.
>>2321456>>2321632Sounds too complicated, I prefer the current system where Indians become white as soon as you convert them to your culture.
For a long time, I have found CK3's personality trait system exceptionally shit. Every character has three. Like if a character is Brave-Cynical-Calm, what am I supposed to think of them? What do they like? What do they want? It tells me nothing about them. So, what would be an alternative?
>>2321956One common one people seem to have is as events unfold for a character they have a chance to change. Like if a calm character has a child murdered there's a chance for them to have an event that makes them go from calm to wrathful. Another idea is for the ability for a character to have minor personality traits. For example calm as a major trait gives the stats and such, but as a minor it gives none of the stats but you can use the options in events, something like that. So its like "The King is very brave and gregarious but he does have a vengeful streak from time to time.
>>2320125>>2320585>>2321456The problem with not at least just having some vector<pair<id, quantity>> system for culture is that it makes it so that cultural conversion is way too fast. Because it doesn't apply in the world until it's done, and if it's interrupted all progress is lost. So it basically has to be done in a few years tops, which is of course batshit insane, unless you're literally committing genocide, cultural conversion should take decades at the fastest, more often centuries.
>>2321965Culture conversion doesn't even make sense to me.What is that supposed represent? What does a cultural event represent?I guess the people in X county have a common history and consider themself Y, much like people in county Z. But they would still have different locals traditions and laws.

>>2271392How hard is it to make a total conversion mod that doesn't touch any of the actual game mechanics? Just puts the game in a different setting, essentially.
>>2322096Yeah, I got no issue with CHYNA and Hindustan being interactable/existing in some way due to their actual impact on medieval economies, but they should've never been put on map. The CK2 court, despite being another stupid window, was a better solution.

>>2322097Shouldn't be too hard adjusted by how autistic you want to change the map or introduce new unit models or whatever.
>>2321985The game's stance on cultures is backwards. In game, when you conquer a foreign culture province, the locals are pissed that you have a different culture, and will eventually revolt. So, the game strongly encourages you to convert cultures. But historically, it was the opposite. Most local people didn't really care about their lord's culture as long as it didn't impact their way of life. That is why most conquerors kept the local laws in place. So, I think every culture should have a law that corresponds to culture's ethos, and instead of "assimilating" cultures, the rulers could either keep the local laws in place (which would mean there is no reason for the locals to change the culture) or they could change local law, pissing off the locals. If the new law remains in place, the culture would eventually be assimilated.
>>2322184Nah bro. They'll rebel if your control is in the shitter and or if you're in a bad position. Succession war especially. One of the few reasonable things in this game.
>>2322095I used to a fair bit in ck2, though I gravitated towards Tibet as soon as that was addedasides from Tibet getting BTFO into a million pieces in ck3, basically nothing changed since then, so I don't really have any reason to play either beyond simply liking Tibet's appearanceI don't expect India to become particularly interesting to myself until Silk Road gets implemented a bit more, or if they get some unique government tacked on, and even then, if Tibet gets its own unique government, I'd probably still stick to Tibet given a choice between the two.

I want to get into grqnd strategy. I like the look of CK but Ive heard 2 is better than 3. What are the differences?
>>2322445try both with piracy
>>2322445CK2's focus was on depicting feudalism and Catholicism.CK3 not only removed all cool feudal/catholic stuff in favor making everyone generic, but they made feudal/catholic the worst government. Also, CK2 is a much harder game. For example, in CK3 when you marry someone, you get an alliance out of it, and AI will always fight your wars for you.In CK2, an alliance only gets a non-aggression pact, which you might be able to turn into an alliance if you spend years improving relations.CK3 does have some cool stuff in it, like a travel system and... I yeah, I think that was it.
>>2322532>In CK2, an alliance only gets a non-aggression pactI still don't understand why they changed this and why they made the AI accept every call to war everThe way it was in CK2 was already perfect there was no need to change it
>>2322537Probably done to make the game easier and more appealing to casuals. But it doesn't explain why they still couldn't keep NAPs around with a game rule.

>>2322431Holy shit real, I've never once had an adventurer run where I haven't had that murder event fire at least three times per ruler's lifetime, it's absurd. I fucking hate Paradox's event system so much.
Heads of faith need to act like a landless country with actual objectives it’s trying to achieve. One of my most disappointing runs was as a manichaeist that fought tooth and nail to put the head of faith in Samarkand only for him to twiddle his thumbs for the next 200 years. They should send out missionaries to convert countries or try and strengthen their faiths lands or fund religious great projects or literally anything at all.
