I remember playing a Bolshevik vs White Army scenario in Darkest Hour (best HoI game) but I'm not sure if it was a mod.

Tons of flavour events and the like. AGEOD games like this are a breed of their own. The attention to historical accuracy is unmatched. They are a bit tough to learn but definitely worth it if you love history.

I wish this game would be better
all the right parts are there to be the perfect game for me but its just way to shallow and the combat/ movement feels like shit
>>

So?
Still killed shit-tonne of commies and run away with their gold reserve. And in the end, Lenin had to let them go, or they would go back from Manchuria to Moscow area on their own.

Making History: The First World War. A mix of Civilization and Hearts of Iron. Has a Russian Civil War campaign where you can choose to be the Whites or the Reds. If you plan on taking over countries outside of your territory, make them colonies not only because giving you full control is better when you are in a world war (and you will be) since the AI will make things worse for you, internal harmony can be disrupted when non-ethnic/religious/cultural demographics are annexed so better to keep the peace by separating them (like in real life!). Also less likely to have them revolt as colonies vs being puppet states.

I may be misunderstanding this but weren't they basically traitors to the Whites? I understand why Czechs wouldn't want to stick around and fight a Russian brother war but the fact they stole gold, handed Kolchak over to the Chekists and then ran from the Reds isn't exactly a story I would want promoted if I were Czech.
>>
>>2296553
They are pretty much the spark that burned away Soviet control in Siberia, sparking shit ton of anti-Soviet revolts and they had good relations with Whites, taking in some Russian generals and officers. Relations started to go bad once Kolchak took the wheel and bad blood started brewing. Some shit may or may not have happened and they arrested him and stole the gold reserves. Soviets by that point were going to catch up with them and they traded both Kolchak and the gold for a truce and a promise to fuck off.

That's fair enough, from a Czech point of view that all seems great and movie worthy but it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth with how it ended. A Russian militaristic despot does not automatically deserve the loyalty of a foreign legion but still it just seems fucked up to doom the last, admittedly forlorn, hope against the Reds to his death. It would have been hopeless to do otherwise but it still puts a damper on things, at least for me.

Thanks for reminding me how many slavniggers have died for the past 100 years in that bit of land between the Dnieper and the Don. Truly the Flanders of our age.
>>
>>2296869
The stump of tyranny must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of slavs and serfs
>>
>>2296553
>but weren't they basically traitors to the Whites
Yes, and?
>they stole gold
You can't steal from a thief. Especially when said thief stole it from another thief.
>handed Kolchak over to the Chekists
The alternative was to fight their way to the nearest port
>ran from the Reds
It's the reds who run away, because they were tired of having to deal with this shit

The Czechs did NOTHING wrong. Yet Ruskies are seething to this day (good)
>>
>>2296798
>just leaves a bad taste in the mouth with how it ended
With a great, heroic success, that only adds to the movie aspect of it?
Are you by chance a Russian that you are ass-mad about this UTTERLY INSIGNIFICANT set of events? Or you are one of those faggots who actually think that either Whites could win (lmao) or Kolchak was some sort of big-brain mastermind (lol) that could win it for them.
If you need a comparison: Kolchak was Chiang Kai-Shek, and it's late 1948. At this point abandoning a clearly lost cause is the only sane move, especially if it's not even your own fight (so pretty much how Americans washed their hands off Chinese Civil War)
>>
>>2296869
>Truly the Flanders of our age.
It gets better:
It's the Flanders of the East Europe.
Bonus points:
Everyone and their dog were fighting and dying for that piece of land since about the same time as Flanders, if not slightly earlier (since the shitshow started in the 1530s)
>>
>>2297353
>The alternative was to fight their way to the nearest port
>It's the reds who run away
So if the Czechs did not fight their way out and had to get the Reds permission to leave then how was that epic?
>>2297354
>you have to be a Russian tsarist if you think handing over an enemy of the communists to the communists to be executed is fucked up and cowardly
Do I have to be Polish to be disgusted by Katyn?
>Kolchak was Chiang Kai-Shek in 1948
Not to get all MacArthur but with hindsight that would have been worth the Americans getting into judged on what happened after and what is happening today. I am not saying Kolchak would have won but I am saying if some Czech castle was under siege five hundred years ago by the Germans and the Slovak soldiers threw out the Czechs to be executed so they can be allowed to leave I would consider that just as lame.
>>2288474
Also, for the record, is this like xcom gameplay wise? What are the levels like? I remember something about it having female soldiers as well which isn't great for my history autism.

whoo?

The weird ass mental gymnastics to try and Paint the checkoslovak legion as some sort of muh based anti commmunist /anti Russian Heroes , when infact they guys who threw their hat in to whatever side promissed an independent checkoslovakia and let them go home.
Hell they even fought the japanese when they got in their way to Vladivostok
