Other than the pretentious woke cover art for this game, Humankind is actually not that bad. I think it's better than Civilization 7. It's been several years since release so I'm curious if anyone else has changed their mind. So far, I like it.

It suffers from having effectively one set of cultures time and again, with vast majority of cultures being not just useless, but bad. Mechanically, it's just mindless churning up more makers districts until you have half of the continent covered in sweatshops. Tribal phase, where you move explorer/hunter unit and don't have a city yet, is the most inventive thing this game did, but everyone was too busy screeching about "muh woke" to notice (meaning they never fucking loaded the game, as this is the very first thing you play through)tl;dr nothing special, does few new things and is too bugged and half-baked to be an actual genre changer; the fact Civ 7 copied its design is laughable
It's just not a good game.Combine that with a genuinely retarded marketing campaign and you have a radioactive product.I still maintain that Humankind is the result of executive meddling from Sega.
