Given the blatant disregard for the opinions of the community this feels like a thinly veiled jab.

Sadly the only thing that looks interesting is 2v2 but they're immediately dropped the ball by making it ranked. The matchmaker is going to struggle to balance players because of the low player count meaning long delays while the mm is "searching for players" or imbalanced matches. It would make far more sense to have open lobbies, but mortens gotta espurt I guess.

Notice how two of them are not even wearing them correctly and there's two in the background who aren't wearing them.

You can't even defend this shit, the ones in the foreground would have noticed if they were wearing them for an exended duration, and if we play bs and claim "I can't breathe" for the ones in the background what are they even doing there - unless the photo is again for pr and taken just out of sight of the carpark.

What's sad is how this kinda of shallow attention to detail carried across to Stormgate itself.

I don't think it's a bad game. I think it's very fun to play. I think this is the actual next step in RTS. I love how smooth and responsive everything is. I like the simplicity and flow of hot keys. I think from a pure gameplay point it's fantastic.

But holy shit is the world bland. It plays fine, but it looks like dog shit. Everything about the game is just boring and uninspired. None of the units really feel like they have any weight to them. Everyone feels like they don't have any personality. It's not a visually fun game to watch and given how they where inspired by marvel movies it's no surprise it never held anyone's attention.

That is my response after playing it before release. Everything controlled fine, but everything about the aesthetic sucked. The maps were just random set pieces with absolutely no environmental storytelling or distinctive feel to them. Wow a generic tropical desert / beach? With medievaly ruins? What does that have to do with not-Terrans fighting the Burning Legion or whatever they call their knockoffs? Couldn't you have come up with a better map to showcase the game?

Then you have the units. Everything you said is correct. There is no weight to anything, and everything is too clean and shiny, plastic looking. Especially the demons. Holy fuck do the demons look lame. It's like if you wanted to make demons that would be safe to show to 10 year olds, designed by people whose only reference for demons was Halloween costumes for babies.
