Is this game basically modern iteration of Settlers? I played it and it feels not as good as dune by same dev.Any other game besides this, settles and battle realms where you build military units out of basic workers?
Cultures, Fate of the Dragon, Stronghold, Original War.
>>2308602I haven't played it but Pioneers of Pagonia came out of early access recently and it suppose to be heavy inspired by the Settlers, even the original creator of the series is on the team, so you might check it out.>Any other game besides this, settles and battle realms where you build military units out of basic workers?Battle Realms, you can even set your military units to multiple different training buildings to turn them into advance units, although aside from that the game is very different from the Settlers.
>>2308602>>2308619>>2308631The amout of mentionned games with mobile game graphics mentionned in this thread is sickening.
>>2308821Dumb zoomer. Go play some real games like pic related before spouting out your retarded opinion.
>>2308821Starting by the OP, yeah. Also, the game sucks balls, tried it a few years ago, I can't remember why specifically I didn't liked it, but you can trust me.
>>2308602I wanted a chill 4x game in real time but micromanaging troops killed it for me. The Devs should have implemented automated battles of some sort.
>>2309127Yeah it's board gamey in a good way except that you need to autistically micro the fuck out of your troops and mistakes set you back severely. If you made unit control a little more indirect and loosened up the very tightly designed economy a little it could be a very chill game.
>>2308602it takes some inspiration from Settlers, but I don't think it's that similar. Compared to The Colonists which is a much more direct spiritual successor to Settlers, if that's what you're looking for.>>2309127what do you want out of real time?
>>2309153Nothing really. I'm fine with playing tbs and boardgames. Thought northguard could have been a novel twist on this and I can manage everything but the unit micro. If I were to change the battle system I would make it so that you group units into troops that can't be split in battle. Maybe even some kind of buttons that appear above tiles that have battles going on where you decide tactics on the fly.
>>2308837You just want me to (you) at (you) asking what game is that, admit it.
I mean its sad thinking that Dune only got Conquest Mode and skirmish modes, while this got story mode, skirmish, conquest, coop conquest, bilfrost etc. fucking Shiro fucks. Overall game is fun, there are a LOT of clans that play somewhat differently because of asymmetry caused by few elements being shifted round, and later they added Christian Clans that plays very differently compared to Vikings. Stag Clan is awesome. it plays like Atreides in Dune Spice Wars, being faction that has very strong economy that also translates to stronger troops as well. How's board game?
>>2309195>what game is thatI have no idea but it reminds me of the Unreal / Hexen 2 era
>>2309127>>2309143If you made the economy management easier and made battles automatic there would be no game left. If you want a game that plays itself just watch lets plays on youtube.
>>2309348Acting like there's nothing else to this game other than micro just makes you look retarded.
Pros of Northgard>Story mode which doubles as comprehensive tutorial for basic gameplay as well as clan specifics for Stag, Goat, Wolf, Raven, Bear and Boar clans>more play modes>more different factions. while compared to dune, each faction is less distinct, considering volume of factions, you have more variety of factions having unique stuff. >more game modes (story, conquest, bifrost, skirmish) with skirmish allowing up to 8 factions. >no pause, so game feels more like traditional RPG. >ability to purchase skins for various heroes using in game currency, earned by playing the damn game. Pros of Dune>better conquest mode, as it feels way more roguelite, with only predefined missions being faction HQ assaults, compared to more structured missions in Northgard.>each faction is way more distinct in Dune compared to Northgard clans>moreover, each faction has custom setup in councilors and heroes as you can pick 2 out 4 for counselors, and 1 out 2 for heroes, each giving you different faction mechanics.>heroes aren't just beefy statblock units like in northgard, but actually expands your faction's advantages. >Game feels like 4x, with large scale battles with multiple units, operations, air units etc., compared to warband skirmishes of ~10 guys beating each other in Northgard.>research tree is more comprehensive compared to simplistic, but quite good Northgard lore mechanic. Northgard is RTS with 4X mechanics, Dune is 4X with RTS mechanics.
>>2311129convenient you didn't list dunc's cons which greatly outweigh northgard's
>>2311207such as?
wish game, at least on single player, had pause. sometimes its too much stuff to handle, esp on extreme.
Kingdoms/Neustrian kingdoms (Lion, Hyppogryf, etc) are awesome. Moat kingdom especially. knights surrounded by armies of peasants.
>>2308602agame like this with a similar art style, but instead of Vikangz, featuring all kinds of European and Middle Eastern medieval factions would be kino
>>2314691there is 3 factions that are based on britinia/early christian factions that play like knights
>>2314770is that so? there's the Frankish woman, the kievan rus and who else?
>>2309195>doesn't recognize black and white 2he's right, you are a dumb zoomer
>>2316144there's lord of lords who turns regions with fort into duchies.
>>2316239>he's right, you are a dumb zoomerNTA, I played the first black and white, I was in the middle school when it came out. Bought a physical copy in a store, when that was still a thing. Never played the second one, though. Didn't even know it got a sequel.
>>2309127DriftlandsSoaseStellaris
>>2317575Yes, however my friends wouldn't mp that with me.
>>2308602Northgard is an odd example of a game that got worse over it's development cycle. It was an absolute god tier game in it's first year. Every year after that it got gradually worse.
today i finished cross of vidar story mode and here are few musings about it.>I don't understand how Rig went from High King to some weakling easily pushed by the likes of Liv.>New VA for RIG was mistake.>Egil seemed retarded thorough whole campaign. first he's ally of Rig, then he becomes villain, and lastly, sacrifices himself for Rig w/o much story behind it. I though that Egil follows the strong, which is why i turned to Sutr, and then jumps in front of Rig, who's weakling by that point. What? >Final level sword abilities were fun. reminds me somewhat of SC2 Campaign or WC3 where some levels gave you seriously OP abilities or units. Sad that Hildegard or Nominoe don't have those swords on their models in MP, as they could work also with Arthurian myth/Excalibur type of sword. hell, maybe relic for Kingdom factions. >inclusion of DLC heroes was fun, although a bit more interaction during the mission would be more fun. >Some maps you play generic Kingdom of the Lion, which has powerful initial faction effect but no unique research or fame thresholds, which is weird, considering they already have Kingdom of Lion and Kernev as factions in other modes although those factions to me, appears to be post-campaign events so i can excuse this. >still mad about Rig, and no Brand. 1k Fame Brand with Leadership war path and all upgrades is a fucking beast. same for Rig. >Torfin Inclusion was fun. Swords sucks, Neustria Sucks, I go back into Northgard fight fire giants with my bare hands!>some levels appear very experimental and remind of SC2. like stealth segment, or MOBA-lite final mission. Overall, I think Rig's Story and Cross of Vidal were good campaigns as it was solid extended tutorial while also explained internal lore reasons why some clans have certain abilities or behave in some ways.
>>2308602>Is this game basically modern iteration of Settlers?no
can you guys give me some tips how to play bifrost solo. lack of special lore for some clans, like stag kinda disturbs my usual build order.
>>2316239>you dont recognise this game you never playedwell sorry
>>2322813For your first winter build a tower at your hall and barricades between the invasion flag and your starting area, the enemies beeline for your hall unless they face any resistance so a defense in depth where the enemy lost health for every territory they go through is a good use of your resourcesOtherwise pray that the wave doesn't drown you in bullshit spawnsGuardian is the only valid military pathDo all the secondaries, you really don't want to miss out on bonuses, pick the unit modifiers everytime, don't get tempted by the special towers and barricades
>>2308602>Is this game basically modern iteration of Settlers?that was my first impression. but it's actually a very cutthroat rts (small mistake? you're dead).
>>2309826there is nothing but micro and some simple build order choices. remove the micro and about a tic tac toe's worth of depth left.
at first i thought not having order queueing was a very strange choice. but the main resource you're managing is your attention.
>>2319158>New VA for RIG was mistake.why the hell did they go from someone who could pronounce the norse names to someone who couldn't?
>>2324927thanks for tips. any recommendation regarding what clan to use for my first solo bifrost? I was thinking Stag as 200/500 fame bonuses really help out in a pinch.
