Hoi3 should have become the universal design standard. Along with its cousin Eu3 it was an attempt to accurately represent historical events on a grand strategic scale. Sure plenty of things sucked, but in general it did a pretty good job for a game designed to run on most home computers.I fully expected it would lead to future refinements with plenty of fixes and improvements. Still playing it. Current game is United Kingdom ( with its ally France and all the little bumfuck puppets ) gone wild on a world conquest.

Then I later I would safely nuke them both into surrender. No fuss, no bother, no massive micromanagement. No messy taking those annoying last victory points. Fuck you Astrakhan.But no, Germany just had to go and spoil it all by declaring war on me. Now I have to fuck around shifting units around. Also rebel spam gets really irritating when you have conquered most of the world already. That's one thing they could have easily fixed by just requiring an IC and manpower tax to represent the cost of adequately garrisoning a conquered country.
