Total War series is only supposed to be vaguely historical. The option to use grenades as an alternative history warfare scenario should be left up to the player, ultimately. But I think a lot of those modders got butthurt over nades in multiplayer because it forced them to be highly aware of micro, lest they get flanked and naded and instantly lose 20 men in a single volley.

Same problem with Darthmod. Cavalry is stupidly powerful, despite primarily being used to run down broken units and skirmishers IRL. Charging into lines of musket infantry, at-the-ready, with bayonets, 3 lines deep full of 800 men was fucking suicidal retardery.

Infantry having infinite morale was the actual worst aspect of Rome 2 and the one thing that Attila fixed.
Unless it's a super elite unit getting charged down by cavalry from behind while fighting with another infantry unit should break morale extremely quickly.
