>industrial annihilation is dead and abandon
Long live Planetary Annihilation community development!
>>
>>2355042
Honestly?
The base Planetary Annihilation could've succeeded if the devs actually took extra time to flesh out the setting, make a good story and include ACTUAL factions that are not reskins but play like the SupCom ones.

It's not too late though with the new devs taking over.
>include the tested community factions in the base game
> make Galactic War story mode instead of current skirmish war
> improve the modding tools to make more units and factions
A story would be nice or atleast some context like Total annihilation had with just the narrator

I could never get into the game because my brain is too small to handle fighting on a globe and I think compromises made to allow that meant that maps were too simplistic and featureless.
Also I think ranges are too compressed for a TA/SupCom-like.
>>
Looks like a mobile game. It would probably be quite playable on a phone, too. I mean, handling revolving objects feels quite natural on a touchscreen.
>>
>>2355042
I wish I could enjoy it but desu the whole planet thing wasn't fun in practice. The perspective is just annoying, i'd rather have a flat earth setting like every other game ever.

It's fun once you wrap your head around that 1 planet is basically a map all on its own with 4 layers( land, air , sea, orbital) of warfare and their interactions between other planets, it's like playing on multiple flat maps at once.

I'm not surprised, the whole concept of a factory game with strategy mixed in led me to believe it was going to be a performance nightmare from the start. Plus Uber showed their coloros when they wanted to start Human Resources back when PA was still unfinished.
>>
>>2355450
not that anon, the planet thing is very easy to understand, but that doesn't change the fact that it's fucking ass to play on with the camera and wrapping around

not a lot of players like to bind the camera onto units to merge them or on structures to have a quick way to move to other perspectives around the planets, I see this on most youtube vids, if you are dragging your camera around looking most of the time you are playing with it wrong.

What about D.O.R.F.? The devs seem to have the same idea.
>>
>>2356044
Some games can pull it of, Mindustry comes to mind, but factory game require a lot of optmization that I assumed that PA devs wouldn't care about, and that can break a game's prospects.

>AI is acceptable on a single planet
>However, on multiplanets, the AI has no idea how to invade other planets
>It also takes metal spots at a snail pace

Of all the things the devs did, their lazyness regarding AI interplanetary gameplay is possibly the worse.
The javascript UI would then be the second worse.
>>
>>2355477
I think it's pretty obvious IA was always meant to be a vaporware scam to line some pockets. The devs came crawling back to their one somewhat successful project after the colossal fumbling of Kerbal looking to cash out.

Thank god nobody was dumb enough to give them more money.
>>
PA is a good game and I'm tired of pretending.

I think it's a bit better than supcom and TA.
>>
>>2357062
it wasn't good on launch, maybe only ok, but having 1 faction hurt it a lot
now with 2 factions and tier 3 units, yeah it's a pretty good game. but half of that was made by fans not by the original devs.

Seeing Colonels slaughter air niggers left and right is orgasmic.

Actually in recent months is up to 4 factions total, legion is the 2nd official community stable one while there are two(Exiles and Bugs ) more still being dev..

Zero-K is better.

more like zero-players
>>

>my brain is too small to handle fighting on a globe
Have you tried Populous 3?
It's on a globe too but the map design made that rarely necessary to handle, it's mostly just an option to pull some big brain moves on the AI.
Might ease you in.
>>
>>2369079
you're allowed to like both
>>2369261
if zero-k has zero players, PA has negative numbers of players
