Asia and Europe however will have you wait around until ~2025 for the big fight to happen, and unless you're proactive it can be a pretty shitty waiting game. There's also railroading based on the war outcomes, paths being locked behind who won/who you lost to, and more in both Europe and Asia. Those parts are the most TNO-like.Where I disagree with the above posted is that there are tons of wars you can get involved in while you wait since the world is burning, so you can easily spend that waiting time grinding generals with volunteer conflicts. Unlike TNO, the mod gives you complete freedom in that regard to fight all over Africa, the Americas and Asia. There's even a world conquest route for one US tag, and the devs seem to have listened to the players when they said they wanted less railroading.

Is it feasible that Red Dusk could get rebuilt off of TFR? I know the UI submod exists but I'm replaying Red Dusk right now and it is very vanilla in many ways and I think it could benefit from TFR's set up and aesthetics. The economy, the techs, the political tab and the models for example stand out to me after playing TFR, especially with the gfx submod. The tech trees are particularly cluttered with redundant gear which serves no purpose, pic rel is the armour trees compared. All your allies - if you even got any - will inevitably turn on you too. It's definitely an uphill struggle and you can easily find yourself in a situation where you're facing overwhelming odds even late in the war.

The TFR AI being programmed only to make mechanized infantry is fine in most contexts, but ironically doesn't work super well in the civil war because of how big the frontlines can get and how few factories you have. If you use your own mechanized brigades to cut off and kill enemy militia units, those can't be replaced by normal unit training, and the AI can never make enough mechanized brigades to ever make up the loss, so armies in the 2ACW have nearly no ability to regenerate, meaning the toughest part of any given fight is the beginning - in fact, it's really only ever difficult if you're outnumbered badly.
