tldr:-server hosting company got purchased-online services will continue until end of april-the game will be patched to be playable offline-if frost giant receives more funding they will bring servers back online
Get smoked, it was about time this piece of shit got put down.
The clowns who supported it for a hot minute should be publically shamedArtosis, Grubby, etc.
>orchestration partnerclott adams would've gotten a week of strips out of that term
i'm sure both remaining players will be very disappointed
Given shitgate player number, its coordinator server can be hosted on a single raspberry pi board
>>2371210My Casio calculator wouldn't even break a sweat
>>2371165Artosis never really shilled it, he gave it a try and gave his honest opinions that ended up being pretty accurateTasteless basically shilled it but I think he got disillusioned later on. He mentioned a few times while casting BW about how he talked to "RTS devs" and they believed perfect pathfinding/unit control was key to a good RTS and he disagrees with BW as an example. considering stormgate's pathfinding was something they were very proud of it's probably Frost Giant he's referring to
>>2371165Your favorite grubs sold out and went back to their normal programming.
>>2371347>Artosis never really shilled it, he gave it a try and gave his honest opinions that ended up being pretty accuratehttps://youtu.be/IC4r-wwO85s?si=J2jonK0H74PMI_6q&t=1068
>>2371347>Artosis never really shilled itHe literally did, casted it, gave it attention, said it has huge potentialgypsy said he couldn't believe how Fartosis could genuinely say these things
>>2371356Alright I consneed, I didn't know he said thatMy understanding was that he realized it wasn't gonna work out after that big tournament they had where the unfinished protoss expy race completely wiped the floor with everyone in a broken fashionSince he seemed pretty tepid about it from what I saw and was more interested in uhhh.... I think it was called battle aces?
>stormgate fukken dies>barely a dozen people even care enough to Post about itbleak. grim.
>>2371135STOP KILLING GAMESGrateful that they make SP playable. That's the important part.
>>2371384Is it though? It's nice the principle is there, Stormgate itself has no value at all
>>2371357>gypsy said he couldn't believe how Fartosis could genuinely say these thingsIt's annoying how Gypsy doesn't keep most of his stormgate critical videos up.Like a month ago he uploaded a video that seemed like it was 3 years old where he was calling stormgate for what it was, and then deleted it within a few days.I say it seemed like it was 3 years old, since he was showing tweets in the video, from people like Tasteless and Artosis that were hours old or so in the video, but they were tweets from like 2023, like it seemed he was sitting on it and uploaded it late, maybe it was a reupload that he had regretted because he doesn't wanna be too critical against artosis who I think might be a genuine friend of his, I am not entirely sure of the dynamic. There's this still at least:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDGnPaYgetw&t=230sHe's not great at making videos, but he's good at rts and I think he has a good sense of judgement when it comes to new rts.Like it was so obvious to me that Battle Aces and Stormgate weren't it, but you have these battered blizzard personalities who want the high of the 2011 sc2 esport scene. I love Tastosis, but I think they're basically compromised when it comes to judging a new rts that looks like it has esports appeal. We need more haters like Gypsy, aka truthspeakers.
>>2371135
>>2371165>Grubbyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-K-2ec0qfsHe was pretty critical
>>2371393>It's annoying how Gypsy doesn't keep most of his stormgate critical videos up.>Like a month ago he uploaded a video that seemed like it was 3 years old where he was calling stormgate for what it was, and then deleted it within a few days.because he's a huge bitch with an extreme narcissist personality disorder, the thought of other people judging him badly for what he says lives rent free in his head 24/7
>>2371393>I love Tastosis, but I think they're basically compromised when it comes to judging a new rts that looks like it has esports appeal.Let's start with the fact that Tasteless' mom was on the board of Frost Giant.
>>2371406He's just a sensitive guy
>>2371428He can dish out shit but he can't take it. His words btw
>>2371407Meanwhile Day9 gave Stormgate a 1-2/10.Tasteless has always been especially quick to shill though.
>>2371435Because Day9 already made it, has loads of money from youtube, event industry host jobs, collabs, etc he doesn't give a fuck about Frost Giant chump change.Tasteless on the other hand is a has-been smoker alcoholic living in one of the most expensive countries in the world who struggles to hit 2k views on his youtube channels, even though he does all the basedface things other do.For him, the chump change is another johnny walker and a pack of smokes and takeout fried chicken
>>2371434btw since you seem to know him better than I do, is he actually a gypsy?I learned he was romanian, but romanian=/=romani(gypsy) so not sure if he just thought it was the same thing and called him gypsy because of that, or because he's actually a gypsy.
>>2371403Yeah you're right, he made many good points
>>2371445He's an obnoxious shitskin, if he says he is a gypsy, he is. No actual gypsy in the world is proud of being a gypsy, but he can live a comfortable shitskin life in Canada or wherever he migrated
>>2371446lel,the devs actually watched his stream.Pretty sure they didn't listen to any of the criticism
>>2371454They didn't listen to ANY criticism from the moment they announced the game. They vehemently opposed any and all idea that maybe a micro-focused marvel-esque colorful quippy RTS that's a shameless copy paste of starcraft and diablo factions is not a very good idea. They told everyone to eat shit.I distinctly remember some early tester leaving feedback that the game feels and looks like a marvel movie and the response was "this is intended"
>>2371454>"Lots of the game is still early as far as art, including placeholder assets.">"Yeah I saw some placeholder assets, but I don't expect a full rework anymore, right Frostgiant?"so funny how a minute into the video they're in chat trying to argue against his feedback lol
without a faction of talking food, this game was doomed from the start
>>2371384>STOP KILLING GAMESStormgate was never alive. To put it in a necromatic perspective:A con-artist starts a cult claiming he can summon the soul of a mythic hero and imbue him in a new body, a ferverous cult forms around his baseless claims. The con-artist milks his newfound fool-of-a-cult of their belongings in order to fuel his half-baked ritual, whilst siphoning of heavy portion for his personal use.The half-baked ritual concludes, no soul is summoned and the con-artist is left with a rotting undead corpse. The now-exposed charlatan attempts to blame outsiders for his failure. He promises that he will succeed the next time but by this time the cult has disbanded.
>>2371391The principle itself is enough of a value by setting a precedent, establishing industry standards, and making players more mindful of game preservation. If crappy games can be kept playable, why should good ones die.
>>2371381>Game "dies" because its online server host was bought out by an "AI" company>Game is still being supported>People should care more about some off-brand game than "AI" killing the games industry or the continued problem of devs not just allowing you to host your own servers
>>2371445hes def not ethnically romanian
>>2371135surprised this turd lasted so long
>>2371135And they can't patch peer to peer or some LAN service like Hamachiwhy
>>2371980how would they sell skins???
>>2371135>server hosts got bought by an AI companyRIP. Nobody deserves to go out like that.
>>2371980that would require having enough money to pay a programmer do work for them
>>2371991with a fat stack of cash?
>>2372017stormgate didn't get any of that money, anon>>2372016if they released the source code someone could make their own dedicated server and also probably make the game fun to play as well
>>2371980one of theme later clarified that they're looking to add p2p
Does anyone know if I buy the mission DLC will I be able to play it once they patch it to make it offline? I have been playing the first few missions and enjoying it so far. Don't know why everything was online in the first place and could tell they were having problems getting content out. I guess its a little derivative of StarCraft but I have never played it so its new to me.
>>2372446Not sure about using Ashes of the Singularity as an example. I recall it having some pretty bad performance issues and was never particularly popular which would push people away from trying multiplayer. The conclusion still stands though. Even if it's 20% of players that play multiplayer you shouldn't be giving it the majority of your attention.
>>2372446Thinking about it, I can remember playing 15 rts games, and only 6 of them I played multiplayer.I didn't feel like I was missing the multiplayer when I played the other 9 rts games, even though my favorite game is a multiplayer rts game.
>>2372446yea the majority of people who buy a gameput a handful of hours into it then never touch it again
>>2372444Yea you're fine.>I guess its a little derivative of StarCraft but I have never played it so its new to me.If I understand you correctly then you have never played StarCraft 2? You should play the first campaign wings of liberty then. Not only is it one of the best pieces of rts, it's also completely free.Do this after finishing Stormgate though, or else you won't be able to enjoy Stormgate anymore, the quality difference is quite huge.
>>2371395He ended up making one for Stormgate and didn't go lite on it so it kind of evens out.
Even redditors are calling the game a Concord.
>>2372018>stormgate didn't get any of that money, anonThis, Morty and his crew they amassed a shit-ton of debt, but make no mistake, Morty and his crew got paid. The ones who lost out where the ones who financially invested in the games development, they're the one who will never see a return on their investment.
>>2371135Stormgate was like GG 2.5. I want Legend of California to eat shit like Heartbound, Wildgate, Eldeguard, Sunderfolk. I don't know Jeff Kaplan, he seemed like a nice guy in that interview with Lex Friedman, buy I want all Blizzard game devs to eat shit like they gave to us. I want them to eat their own dog food for once. In their case the dog food is shit. The added bonus is they are Californian. Fuck yeah, eat shit California. We just wanted to play games. All you had to do was make a good game like Kenshi or Slay the Spire. Legend of California will release in 3 years, almost 10 years after Rust released. We will see if Blizzard devs can stand on their own or if they need to ride the success of F.T.U.E that WoW and Starcraft had. I will open a Polymarkets account if they let us bet on game success.
>>2372446Every compfag alive already has a favorite game or two and doesn't need a new one. He doesn't want to spend hundreds of hours getting gud at a different game, nor would he pick up one that plays exactly like his current one, because he can keep playing the old one.
>>2371357>said it has huge potentialHe wasn't wrong about this, the potential was just never remotely realized. He shilled crab game though (battle aces)where is ant game?
>>2372968Don't forget about FireFall next time you repost this in another anti-SG thread, because Grummz is no longer based after people discovered that he's been wasting his vaporware project's KikeScammer funds on commissioning BBC futanari scat porn.
They deserved this for the awful moderators they let circle their game around reddit and discord.
>>2378116I think them making a bad product and wasting people's money is worse
>>2371135>Stormgate shutting downAnd nothing of value was lost...
>>2371135what the fuck is/was stormgate
>>2378165If valid criticism had made its way to the devs things might've improved. Instead the mods circled jerked themselves silly as a insulating cordon.
>>2378236A return to form blast of a RTS!
>>2378236The game that was advertised as the savior of RTS, because it was made by ex-Blizzard devs, some of whom worked on Starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3. I'm honestly surprised you haven't heard about it while browsing this board.>>2378269I don't think that the devs were somehow oblivious to criticisms towards their game.
>>2378269Valid criticism made its way to the devs hundreds if not thousands of individual times, and every single time they disregarded it and doubled down on their own retarded ideas.Only after they were 20 million in the hole and only after it was obvious the game is dead, did they come out to the community and ask them what they want. 20 million in spent budget and public goodwill too late. To this day none of them can explain why there were creep camps in the game aside from "w-well it was in warcraft 3 you see!!!"
>>2378320>ex-Blizzard devs>make nu-StarCraft in a gay and retarded skin
>>2378320>made by ex-Blizzard devsthis is NOT a ringing endorsement btwimagine getting hype for a shooter made by ex-Battlefield/CoD devs; you know exactly what kind of slop they just churned out, why expect any different?>some of them helped make star2craftagain not a good thing, wings of liberty was dogshit and the rest somehow got worse>some of them helped make war3so either they were hella junior at the time, or they were involved in reforged which is the biggest shitcan of "we forgot how to make good games" in recent historyi took one look at the promo materials for stormgate and wrote it off as derivative slop, same as that C&C clone (tempest something) that's following the same "nostalgia-and-flop" trajectory as this one.>>2378360>To this day none of them can explain why there were creep camps in the game aside from "w-well it was in warcraft 3 you see!!!"i think you've got the right of it too. incompetent morons who don't know what makes stuff good, doing cargo cult imitations of what was good in the past. the whole gaming industry is full of these retards. the whole corporate-everywhere is full of these retards.
>>2378236they had 40 million dollars and this was the result
>>2378366>some of them helped make war3iirc, the one wc3 guy was just some guy who made scenarios for the campaigns.I like some of the maps, but that's not a sell for a game for me, so I just wrote the game off since it was mostly sc2 people and I didn't like sc2.
>>2378366tempest rising may be derivative but it's a completed and good looking game, maybe a six or seven out of ten. stormgate is a zero
All what you breastmilk-stealing cucks had to do is to make a copyright lawyer-friendly version of either StarCraft 3 or Warcraft 4, not fucking both at once.
>>2380685>copy a game that is dead?
>>2380688>>2380685you're both wrong because1. both wc3 and sc2 are amongst the most active rts games atm2. making a copy of sc2 or wc3 would have not been the play either.
>>2373637Basically this. Tangent, but another way to demonstrate the point being made - League of Legends has always been terrible across the board, but it was the first (proper/stand-alone) MOBA to launch with a FREE-TO-PLAY model. Once it got enough people in, there was jack and shit that any competitor could (realstically) do to pry them away.
>>2380685I think it has been proven multiple times now that just copying starcraft or warcraft does not result in success or critical acclaim or even general interest. Starcraft, warcraft and c&c already exist and are better. So stop trying to make them again, do something original>ahh you are impossible you are asking for impossible deeds!!!!
>>2380685All they had to do was make a good coop mode and campaign and focus on one thing at a time. That's all they had to do. Instead of developing 4-5 fucking modes at once pick campaign + another one and focus on them being your flagship to build an IP. SC2 didn't launch with it's map editor, it only had multiplayer and the campaign.God this piece of shit flop makes me so mad and I didn't spend a cent on it.
>>2381506Don't forget they blew a couple hundred thousand bucks on a private alpha stage tournament with only 2 factions. It was a tournament without an audience, nobody could see the games. They actually thought they were developing the next esports hit and wanted a private test run. No amount of drug abuse or wealth could make me this delusional
>>2380707yea and both are completely dead compared to their heydayAlso both got popular by their single player, franchise, trailers, big popularity of Broodwar in Korea, etc
>>2381584>both are completely deadHow dramatic. Both games are doing fine. They even have an organic competitive scene.
>>2381553Damn a couple hundred thousand could pay 2 faggots even in commiefornia to develop a P2P mode.
>>2381584>yea and both are completely dead compared to their heydayevery single game in existence is dead compared to their heyday 20+ years after release you fucking moron
>>2371359Battle Aces seemed great though but I have no idea how they expected to make money from it
>>2371651An Aqua Team Hunger Force RTS narrated by Carl would save the genre. The children crave talking food.
>>2378360The retards who claim that starcraft 2 is too fast hold up War3 as some gold standard of how an RTS should play.It was just an ego play to get their wallets onboard by saying “we are making a starcraft 2 but Warcraft 3 which everyone will love and prove you retarded midwits who can’t handle more than 1 thing at once right!! Look it even has creep camps!!”
>>2381979you were supposed to buy new units
