Chapter V editionprev >>2344418
List of things this game still hasn't fixed/improved:- religions, papacy, holy orders, etc (likely coming soon)- unplayable republics- no pop and trade mechanics- blobbing (realm size stability mechanics and ai forming defensive pacts against blobs could fix this) - bordergore- mid-game lag- events being repetitive empty chores with no rp value because they don't tie into each other and have no long-term consequences- holding court being boring and useless- no faction negotiation mechanics- not enough opportunities for political shenanigans (especially in byzantium) - burghers and their influence being absent - republics being the poorest form of government instead of economic powerhouses- feudal contracts being a game of "hah I got you first"- albinos, women, giants and dwarfs ruling every other kingdom- cadet branch names and coas being an ugly mess I have to micro in every run- extreme wealth being useless lg, with some rulers sitting on 281k, while eg tribal rulers are so poor they can't afford a hunt a year- treasury being optimized onl for celestial govt, not admin- most npcs looking like mutants after 300 years- ai having no long-term dynastic goals- subverting a larger realm by becoming a vassal being too easy- being unable to send a variable amount of gold instead of 60 individual stacks- being unable to help other realms of my dynasty without marriage- no one cares when Haesteinn conquers Rome- no jewish expulsions- no banks, societies, monk orders, etc. (not calling for a repetition of CK2s mistakes)- feudal gameplay being just fabricating claims and waiting- russians looking like nords- half of my realm priests being illiterate idiots- HRE emperors having ridiculously inappropriate dutch and saxon names like Dirk or Poppo- being unable to edit nobiliary particles and them automatically disappearing after editing the branch name- tribal still being op and army quality difference not being enough to help feudals against them

>>2380871>pop and trade mechanicsWhat makes you think they should or would ever be in Crusader Kings?CK has always been playing with dollies. There's a reason it's the only Paradox game with a sizable female playerbase.
u have 1 years to radically change ck3 what would u guys do
>>238095618+ expansion that adds sex scenes and turns it into a hentai game
>>2380871doge of venice is in the chapter 5 teaser image so i have hopes for playable republics/economy mechanics
Why'd they make CK2 Italians so ugly? Also, can I get some underdog counts/OPMs with strong narratives tied to them?
>>2380963>Why'd they make CK2 Italians so ugly? they wanted it to be realistic>Also, can I get some underdog counts/OPMs with strong narratives tied to them?you make the narrative, idiot
>>2380956I hire Rhyogo Narita and we make an in-depth Chapter on characters, actually adding personalities to characters, personal goals and so on. Also adding a flavour dlc as part of giving England actual story and alternate paths based on their history.
>>2380956I hire Reo Fujisawa and have her ride me cowgirl for 3 months straight then give paradox whatever the most subscribed mod is on the workshop and tell them it's the next dlc
>>2380871>blobbingfor the player? ai realms can't even hold a slightly larger than dejure kingdom without collapsing on higher realm stability.>cadet branchjust disable the decision for the ai.>- HRE emperors having ridiculously inappropriate dutch and saxon names like Dirk or Poppoyou can mod those out.>tribal strongonly in the beginning of a 867 start. >>2380963use better looking garbs.

>>2380175They have a compatch to work together
>>2380871>blobbing (realm size stability mechanics and ai forming defensive pacts against blobs could fix this)They literally added conquerors and scourge of God conquerors because by default, AIs stop being a challenge 50 years in (and that's if you started small)
>>2380871>defensive pactsthat was such a bad feature from CK2 that they even let you keep Ironman enabled if you turned that shit off >Russians looking like nordshalf of the russian rulers in 867 are vikings. Do the math>no one cares when Haesteinn conquers romeplaying as Haesteinn basically is sandbox mode
>>2380956like 30 new government types with variations, evolutions, and mechanics
>>2380956Replace the character models with 3D anime models and cut Africa and India off th map
>>2381188but how will we get to japan?
>>2381190Do what the Warhammer mod for CK2 did with the Underground Skaven and put Japan in a box in the corner of the map
>>2380871ck2 didn't have a bunch of these problems in the first placeretvrn
waiting for ck4...
>>2380871Russians only got their famous phenotype after centuries of interbreeding with tataro-mongol tribes of the steppes they conquered and siberian indigenous population. Ivan IV, known as Grozny, was half tatar by his motherRussians were so mittified that Petr I started the process of replacing his own bloodline with germans
>>2380956make it free to play
Really liking the obfusckate mod, would recommended for less easy game.
>>2381042>everything that undermines my world conquest run is a bad featureThis isn't a Stellaris thread.
>>2381949ck2 defensive pacts were a terrible way of doing that

>>2382082Nice Anon, was just going to start making a summary post. They teased earlier this year in a dev diary a network system that was speculated to be roads or trade system. Trade we now know will be a feature, but that screenshot in the bottom right confirms we'll be getting roads also.
>>2382082>arcidioceseI already see quite a few incorrect borders between those. Also, they better make these actually different based on the start date. Because in 867, Estergom and Mainz all fell under the dominion of Regensburg in Bavaria, for example.
>>2382082>>Songs of the Realm (CK2 and swedish folk songs)Most important note is we're getting (a new) In Taberna.
>>2382082I wish they showed us more gameplay images like how the religion screen looks now.
>>2382082Cool I guess?
>>2382082will non mercantile republics be playable?
>>2382103i remember installing a music mod back in ck2 and really enjoyed a select series of songsand then i realized literally every one of them was a kc:d1 import lol
>>2382103PDX greed truly knows no bounds
>>2381949You prefer CK2’s pope declaring war on you for attacking muslims?
>>2382104still didn't get an answer, you guys are very useful as always
>>2382116It wasn't mentioned, was it.
>>2382116the last thread lasted 2 months, you can wait 15 minutes, you catty bitchBut they didn't specify non-mercantile republics. However, they did reference the Swiss republic as a reference point, so that might be something included
>>2382082So stone-wood-salt-fruits?-furs-cloth-gems?-iron-silver will be producable goods? Looks like urban sprawl will finally get added as well
>>2382120>We're inspired by the Egyptian traders traveling eastwards, the Silk Road merchants, the merchants coming down from Novgorod with fur, as well as the Republics of Venice, Genoa, Florence, the Swiss ones or the free cities of the HRE>As the game keeps running, we will see these little republics form up to form larger trade leagues, and they can truly become a power to be reckoned with, just like Hansa were in real life controlling most of the Baltic Sea
>been wanting to push my new mod that i've been working on for the past couple months>just been waiting on a patch release date>decide to add a new feature last week and it's really been stumping me>patch is todayaaa claude help me remove wanderers across the map
>>2382082It's kino...
>>2382082>merchant republics without navy mechanics>economy mechanics are probably going to be so half-baked a toddler could do it
I’m not gonna fall for it again
>>2382173>>merchant republics without navy mechanicsI know the reason is "we had to casualize the game for consolefags who don't play strategy games anyway" but if they don't use this as an opportunity to actually add naval mechanics (whether it's as transport ships or as ships that can actually fight) then I just give up>Nothing is stopping the HRE from fabricating and declaring war on Venice and then landing 20k soldiers on the island
>KC2 music in game nowI've never played KCD but I'm OK with this
>>2382203Henry's also in the game as an adventurer too
>>2382173What would naval mechanics add to the game exactly?
>>2382206is it somehow not immediately obvious?
>>2382129>set max wanderers to 0>problem solved
>>2382205Except they made him gay for some reason
>play game of thrones mod ck2>Becomes a mess instantly >Play ck3 game of thrones>Nothing happens
Did the patch change anything about the fact that the AI is retarded when it comes to sieges? They used to put a small army to siege a province while 80% of the forces did nothing but idle in safe supply zones nearby
Do the devs expect praise for adding shit was was in ck2 after 6 entire years?
>>2382228>>play game of thrones mod ck2>>Becomes a mess instantlyThat is what makes it fun. I loved setting up alternate scenarios in it. I especially liked playing Joffrey and being actual just and chivalrous King and stabilizing the realm
THE GAME IS SAVED
>>2382336how much did johan pay you
now I'm just waiting for EK2 to update so I can finally ban pregnant women and spouses and tutors and wet nurses and spouses of children from getting their heads ripped off in battle without banning females outright
>>2380871>- HRE emperors having ridiculously inappropriate dutch and saxon names like Dirk or PoppoPecking Order
At last, some realistic mechanics to aid immersion. I can imagine it now, a spirited debate between the Patriarch of Constantinople and some plucky Venetian merchants who seek to create a trading post in the city. The Venetians arguing that the Bishop of Rome has authorized it so that they may fund a mission with the proceeds, the tentative grasp of the churches still being in official communion on the line when oh no, what's this? The Doge of Venice has just done a stinky! Oh dear, could talks break down due to this particularly foul flatulence? Haha, not to worry, it seems the Ecumenical Patriarch himself has quite an unusual aroma, stinky stinky poo poo plops hahahaha yes yes that's it take a good whiff ewwww PU hahaha god yeah thats right you dirty boys
>>2382177>>Nothing is stopping the HRE from fabricating and declaring war on Venice and then landing 20k soldiers on the islandthis is the same for ck2
>>2382315It doesn't feel like asoiaf at all unfortunately. Cks has weird gimmicks that are fine for vanilla and most mods that stops immersion for the got mod
>>2382365Clearly you have not read as many lot of agot asoiaf fanfics as I did, nor have you been regular at https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/. The mod makes perfect sense.
>>2380871I'm genuinely surprised this list of grievances doesn't mention the fact that just about everything regarding war, from vassal levies to professional troops or individual flanks, is inferior to ck2. The ck3 combat is more like an autobattler
Is Roads to Power worth it? I barely dabbled in CK3 so far, I think I could squeeze quite abit out of the base game before springing for DLC.
>>2382377No
>>2382377you can get all of the dlc for free at cs.rin.ru with 100% compatibility for a legitimate steam copy
will the new update ruin my saves ;-;
>>2382382I'm hesitant to creampie anything thats on m ylegit steam account, steam appears to not give a shit at current, but if that ever changes I'm fucked.
>>2382223Pretty sure he was bisexual last time I’ve played, but maybe they changed that
>>2382392Same thing
>>2382387Steam stands to lose more from cracking down on it than letting it slide. This also doesn't work for valve games
>>2382368I do not read the fanfics no sorry
>>2382368Good on you for reading retarded slop?
>>2380988>Reo Fujisawaget the fuck out of my walls I'm supposed to be the one obsessing with her lately.
>they put Henry in but not Musa of MaliAre the devs racist or something?
>>2382417https://www.loverslab.com/topic/252589-mod-interracial-takeover-3rd-edition/here you go bromandatory for a kcd inspired playthrough
>still can't select body/bust shape in ruler designer without using some out of date mod that may or may not briefly turn characters into faceless skelliesman it's such an insignificant thing but that sucks
>>2382407Sorry bro, I love big fat Japanese sluts. None of that "waah waah yamete" shit, give me a whore who works it, pins me down, and who I couldn't get off of me if I wanted to.
>>2382425isn't there a more up to date mod which adds traits for breast / penis sizes which also changes the character's 3D model to reflect the size?
>Dynamic Holy Sites: Cathedrals can become the focal point for reverence of specific saints or other holy figures, leading to them becoming Holy Sites. Faiths can now dynamically change their holy sites as they grow and change over time.>Changes to Religious Tenets: Revisions to the tenet system in Crusader Kings III now center characters’ relationships to their faith and what is appropriate behavior within that faith. Follow heretical beliefs that push the boundary of what is accepted or have your personal preferences adopted and accepted through internal church politics. These are really the main things I wanted so I'm pretty happy, being able to change the religion bit by bit while having holy sites actually in my territory without completely swapping religions.
Wonder how the "playable pope" thing would work for a custom religion or whatever you can do, like, if you make yourself temporal leader, can you still make use of that treasury thing the pope is apparently going to get?Might be more interesting if you can get the indulgences people come to pay you for into that and from there choosing whether to just siphon it into your pockets or actually using it to shape the real based on what roleplaying you're doing.
it'll be disappointing, as always
I WANT MY FUCKING TOY BOATS PARADOX FUCK YOU
>>2382571corsair kings
>>2382425Better Ruler Designer has a booba slider IIRC.But why aren't you just using CBO or Phaze body? Both work great, although Phaze isn't compatible with EK2.
>>2380871>- no pop and trade mechanics
>>2382610outside a singular git I've only dabbled in steam workshopI saw some guy upload phaze makeup to workshop recently and I don't believe that kind of aesthetic is for me desu
>>2382082I hope they remove the building limit slot slop
>>2382612trade mechanics are being added in chapter 5 thoughbeitbut that guy should go play eu5 if he wants pops
>>2382103What other games would you like them to collaborate with?My picks are Plague Inc, with it introducing a medieval world scenario and CK3 having more plague events.
>>2381576it's pretty pointless. doesn't change how you play the game at all
>>2382699It does a great deal. For one, you need to hold feasts to find spouses for yourself and your sons, you don't want your wife or daughter-in-law to be ugly, just like the cinderella story. Whereas your daughters, you can just marry them off for alliances with no regard to what the guy looks like. Very immersive
>>2382612Not having pops from the start was a mistake, but it's too late to add them at this point
>>2381576I should start playing with this mod. I really do believe the base game needs something like this. If I'm a European ruler, lands in the far east should be mystical. Cathay, Zipango, not known to me as China and Japan. It's still kind of nice they're adding a ledger after all this time but, I won't be using it. Too much easy information at hand takes away both immersion and difficulty. I always play with shortest diplomacy range for those reasons. I shouldn't as a Scandinavian ruler be able to have alliances with mediterranean rulers and so forth
THEY DID IT AGAIN CK3 IS SAVED

>>238283050 trade good types but 0 slaves
Thinking of doing an Andalusian playthrough. What religion should I go for? Mullawadi, Mozarabic, Catholic, Adoptionist, Custom?
>>2382837Not wholesome enough I suppose.Anyway, they aren't commenting on the roads we've seen in multiple screenshots now. They seems to answer a lot of other question which is annoying.
>>2382844it's funny because a lot of slaves were actually white in that time frame, anyway someone will mod it in day one
>>2382104>>2382116from the latest dev diary>The republics of Silk & Silver are inspired by their namesakes from the Middle Ages, but unlike Crusader Kings 2, we are not limiting ourselves only to the maritime republics of Genoa, Venice, Amalfi, and Pisa. We are going for the whole spectrum, from the many republics of Italy to the free cities of the Holy Roman Empire to the Hanseatic League in the Baltic Sea. The goal is to serve you no matter where you are: in Florence, Venice, or even in the Commune of Rome.
>One thing to mention is that merchants are essential for the new trade system to work. In many ways, they are the roots of the new system that connects everything in the world. They are the main caretakers and providers who fulfill needs across all markets. In other words, they are important enough for landed rulers to engage with at times to ensure that their provinces are actually getting the goods they need, and they give merchants some power in relation to their landed patrons.well that's fucking ominous, coming from paradox
>Redrawing the Italian map (welcome back, Amalfi)
>Since this will be a topic both asked about and discussed, if we do not bring it up ourselves, I will rip off this band-aid sooner rather than later. There will be no naval warfare or naval battles in this DLC. We know this is a topic people complain about a lot and at this point we are sick of it. It's not important and we are never going to add it. Direct all your complaints to the bin since we won't be reading them
>>2382882>in this DLCboat confirmed for chapter vi
>>2382882they maybe coulda pushed merchants back to next year and paired it with a naval lead-in desu, focused on more churchy and temple stuff for this year. Fuck maybe that alt timeline could've had Tibetan shenanigans in particular this year on the eastern end of the map beyond having to abstract it out of rites.
meanwhile literally one country over from their homelandhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Fimreitean entire civil war and the rise of one of the greatest kings in the country's history decided by - well I guess the fate of N*rway doesn't really matter huh?

>>2382893theywantyou
>>2382844>>2382847There were practically zero slaves in Western Europe at this time. If they added slaves it would purely be the Arabs perpetuating it. That doesn't fit the narrative that Europeans are ontologically evil and everyone else dindu nuffin.
because>ummm vikings?!?>french-english conflicts>the entire meditterranean being a galleybowl>the italians profiting off of relatively controlled seas after the crusades>the entire 4th crusade>hansards using naval blockades to force their policies across>goddang mongorians get dunked on by Kami-sama>the southeast asian thassalocracies and all their bits, bringing in the Tamil kingsBut no, just walk across water. Water is a money check, not a strategic piece
>>2382837>>2382844mods will fix it
>devs immediately start talking on video about how the "merchant life" they have been working on replicating in game is based off the lives of jewish merchantsloooooooooooool
>>2382837modeling slavery is probably a bit too complicated on the mechanical end of things than what they're willing to fuck with, at least so long as provinces are monolithic culture/faith combosI imagine it'd be a little taxing on game resources too, to give it its own unique shenanigans. Like they revolted in Persia and had some bunch over in India at least, and I imagine out of ignorance that's among the first thing people would expect before they realized Mamluks were a thing. Fucking Egypt being run by trade goods.
>>2382896Not en masse, but domestic slavery was very common. Prague continued to be a slave-trading city until most of the slavs were Christianized, and the Byzantines loved using slaves as eunuchs, the same as the Chinese. The Italians, like most mediterranean powers, turned them into galley slaves before eventually professionalizing them (but never outright replacing them).Meanwhile, viking thralldom was quite common and part of the christianization process of them, as well as the baltics, was finding what workforce could replace their slaves--resulting in some resistances of conversion BY christian lords because it would take away their free labor/loot. Then there's also the full display of Oriental slavery, though that might upset the great Party
>>2382885i'd rather have playable republics and most things coming in silk and silver in this year than wait a whole year just to include fucking naval. I'm sorry but two dozen notable naval engagements throughout the medieval period ain't worth waiting for. Yes it's weird and bad that ships just magically appear when you embark etc, sure.>>2382896>If they added slaves it would purely be the Arabs perpetuating it. The italian republics did trade a lot of slaves from the black sea doe>italians>whyteAlso there were plenty of slavery going on in central, east Asia.
>>2382903>there's also the full display of Oriental slavery, though that might upset the great PartyI never got the CCP's attitude to paradox games. They banned HoI4 because Japan owns Taiwan, the country is fractured, etc, etc.But their official narrative is that the glorious chairman completed the long march, unified China, and ended the century of humiliation. So who the fuck did he unify if they don't allow you to say it was ever fractured by warlords?
>>2382907They give whatever bullshit reason, you have to read between the lines. For all we know it could be a form of censureship to shield Chinese gamers from learning tangential bits of history that deviate from the official, glorious narrative. This time period is especially sensitive for many Chinx
big as fuck province menu
>>2382907>So who the fuck did he unify if they don't allow you to say it was ever fractured by warlords?Obviously china has always been whole with no territory ever being owned by another country and any instances where that didn't appear to be the case was mearly an administrative error csused by troublemakers
>Removing Buildings for Stellaris slop disrictsSigh
What even is the point of baronies in this game? At this point they're just resource hogs, just remove or rework them already
>>2382968they are reworking them? >>2382927
>>2382110Yes. Popes historically supported some religious wars, but not large-scale landgrabs that would've made the emperor too strong. Most popes rivaled catholic rulers infinitely harder than any muslim.
>>2382896Debt slavery.
>>2382990Didn't exist in the timeframe, unless you're using the term to mean something other than what it does.Indentured servitude and serfdom are two tangibly related concepts, but they're not quite the same thing.

However, this train is liable to randomly derail itself. After a few hours, the game crashes to desktop. It wasn't always like this. It's been this way ever since All Under Heaven came out.
on my old pc ck3 genuinely took 40 minutes to load upI've also found that having saves from different total conversions fucks with loading

>>2382830>>2382927we vicky 3 lite now. I can dig it. Anything to add depth to this game.>>2382885>>2382904Personally I was not one of those fags clamoring for "trade". What I really wanted was them locking in on feudalism mechanics and the HRE emperorship.I will accept some red meat in the form of the Christianity DLC and finally some real focus on western Europe again.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_to_CanossaAnd we have Matilda going from a free unmarried dommy mommy with huge tracts of Tuscan land to a scripted event chain tanking the opinion of the emperor and starting a war in Italy in the first 30 years of every game to look forward to.
I don't understand PoD do most people play as an established character or do they make their own

as far as i understand there isn't an actual difference between republic and merchant republic governments, right?
Hows the current status of the game? I haven't played since before the Khans of the Steppe DLC, So I haven't even seen China yet. I was thinking right now would be a good time to pick up the other DLCs, but I don't want to get it if it's just more systems awkwardly stacked on top of one another. What have they done to meld the various systems together? Anything? Also did they change anything with reforming the Roman Empire? The way it was implemented before seemed like a straight up spite move.
>>2383519why don't you try making one nigga?
If going forward, their way of implementing mechanics for new government types is to give them all an estate, then feudals, tribals, and clans should get estates too
it's sad when they go young like that
>>2383568>then feudals, tribals, and clans should get estates tooDont clans already have estates? I am pretty sure you can expand your herd there.Feudals should definitely have estates too. Because the castles were specifically military installations, focused on defence. All the more so with the royal castles. Plus, each noble could possess multiple castles. They were not for living, and aristocrats had their own estates down in/near the town or city.
Haesteinnbros... gone are the days of us living to be 120+ years old... the new old age traits will do us in...
>>2383596>Dont clans already have estates? I am pretty sure you can expand your herd there. If you mean nomads, yeah they already have their own estate, but I was talking about the Muslim government which is called Clan ingame for some reason
>>2383606Oh, right, the clan is muslim. I always forget, because it is retarded. Clan should be either tribal or nomadic thing. But yea, muslims should also deffinetelly have estates, especially because unlike european nobilty they even more so lived primarily in the cities.

>>2383791They don't want to get Charlie Hebdo'd. Agree that they are pussies thougheverbeit.
Theocracies and republics in the same chapter is quite surprising. There's not much left to incorporate and rework besides feudalism, societies, navies and overall warfare. We may see CK3 effectively finished by chapter 7 or 8.

All this talk about bishops, archbishops and popes but all I really wanted was to play as an abbot.
>>2383886And then we get to CK4 where all those things are gone once again and we wait for the DLCs.
>>2383872The difference is Charlie Hebdo is a national newspaper in stores, literally any body can see that.Almost no one will ever see or care about the CK3 workshop.
>>2383972Orb Mohamed is in the base game, the mod devs probably just didn't feel like changing it.
>>2383972>>2383982Why not just make Abu Bakr the leader of the Muslim invasion if you're afraid of depicting Muhammad in your mod?
>>2383886Well, 8+ years of post-launch major content is quite expected and decent, all things considered. Another 2-3+ years afterwards, waiting for CK4 and you got the average life expectancy of a modern PDX game.
Tried to play this shit and sort of had fun but the fart events killed it for me. They're so immersion breaking and there's a disproportionate amount of them. Someone on the dev team clearly has a fetish and was writing it with one hand.
>>2384066Get VIET + RICEI agree though, for how much effort modders put in to make detailed custom throne rooms (like the Iron Throne in AGOT), the actual royal court system is just "LOL YOU BRAPPED ALL OVER THE PLACE YOU HAVE A SUPER STINKY BRAPPY GASSY COURT NOW!"
>>2384072I always avoided them because I remember the CK2 version was just cock events. What is it about this time period that attracts quirk chunguses?

>>2384251i'm 60, can you explain this chart to me and tell why it's bad?
it's cool that they have China now but honestly I'm going to miss Jade Dragon. It was really cool having China as this influential off-map thing you could get artifacts and marriages and other stuff from and as another end-game boss like the mongols or aztecs
>>2384263nah, having actual china is better
>>2384263>the aztecyou don't deserve like if you like that dlc
>>2384263I love how the ck2 elder kings mod used china to represent individual daedric princes. One of many areas where the ck3 version is sorely behind
>>2384263I've been thinking of an extended end date that goes into the early modern period where the east and west make contact, institutions solidify and absolute monarchy more naturally happens but what would be the cutoff of going too far ahead
>>2384273>exactly what it says on the tin with nothing extra sneaked in under the hood>bonus stuff for those who are willing to pay for it>miss out on absolutely nothing of value if you don't get itwhether you like the actual content or not, Sunset Invasion is unironically the best DLC they have put out as a company
>>2384251>checking every single character's legibility over and over and over againno, it checks the year then it checks if the global variable was already created (which is created by the character being spawned), it doesn't check any character's eligibility
>>2384326So... it checks if the year is one where the character is eligible to spawn, and then it checks if the character isn't ineligible to spawn (because they've spawned already)? What's a phrase you might use to summarise that concisely?
>>2384351certainly not legibility
>>2384257The more checks you have to do the slower the game runs. It's the least effecient way to do this. Although only once every year means this isn't too bad.CK2 had shit performance for years, until eventually they figured out the Byzantine Emperor was checking every single tick to see if he could castrate every character in the world, even ones not inside his court. Once they fixed it the game ran much faster.
>>2383375>>2383411Matilda is everyone's first CK waifu. I married her without hesitation in my very first CK2 game, when I started as King Sancho of Castile.Fellow oldfags who played CK2 in 2012 will remember the gorgeous portrait that Paradox originally gave her. She was literally one of the most attractive women in the game - pale skin, long brown hair, bright blue eyes, and very kissable lips. Unfortunately, they butchered her portrait with updates and DLC's. Even her 3D CK3 model doesn't measure up to her original appearance.
>>2384539Really?
>>2384553>Really?That is not it. Like I said, they changed her appearance multiple times, usually for the worse. Her ORIGINAL appearance, when CK2 was first released in 2012, was beautiful. I don't think there are any existing screenshots of it anymore.

It's unrealistic but I miss ck2 having the entire 1066->1337 timeline. They can add mechanics for things like the 4th crusade for example but it's just not quite the same as actually playing the historical characters and nations in that scenario.
>>2386749>It's unrealistic but I miss ck2 having the entire 1066->1337 timelineIt really isn't "unrealistic". Almost all of the title holders and historical characters have been 1:1 ported from ck2. The only flaws is that some titles had no historical ruler so a random locally appropriate one got generated, which is basically the same as the existing dates having fixed fictional characters
What do I think of the trade rework, /ckg/? Will it actually save the game and be immersive or is it just an expanded building menu with more buttons to press? What will the sims girlies think of having to manage it in their doll simulator?

never played landless, is it fun or just mindless event spam?
>>2388661I like it enoughthere's still some amount of event spam but it feels like it's written in less of a "haha silly meme xD the king pooted in the courtroom!" way. and the fact that you're personally recruiting most of your followers makes the character-driven ones feel more immersive than "Steve MacBumfuck is mad because you gave Stephen McButtfuck a minor job and he didn't get one too"
>>2388661It's very fun, but it can easily get broken>Very powerful MAA>Can become a conqueror through decision
>>2388661Event spam. Landless gameplay is like working a minimum wage job where you're doing the same dozen tasks over and over again.

Haven't played CK3 in ages, are there any must-have mods, or even just mods that you guys highly recommend? Half of my old mod list is outdated and abandoned, or stuff I don't remember why I downloaded in the first place, and I figure it would be better to just start from a clean slate.

This game goes from turn your brain off easy to impossible in like 5 seconds flat. I used to be able to elevate the Kingdom of Mann and the Isles, reform Asatru and conquer the rest of Brittania all in one life as Ivar, but now I can barely do half that. And if you don't have good kids you're just fucked. Like if your kid doesn't get a good education it's over because there's no good ways to increase domain limit anymore.
They let you bind artifacts inheritance to a certain title, now I want them to do that with head of faith tittles. Like I want the head of faith title to be inherited along with my kingdom, not go to one of my random sons. That's how it works with Anglicanism, that's why the head of the Anglican church is a Catholic. Also that's how it worked with the Roman pagan faith, Christian Emperors ended up as the head of a Pagan religion. Also I want to make a temporal head of faith without having to select Lay clergy.
>>2389450Im convinced the greatest challenge in this game currently is getting the Blood Eagle achievement before the next update comes out. i was so close last update cycle. i had just made the empire of Britannia, finally got enough counties. started as Halfdan Whiteshirt. took me like 200 years. I still think its easier to start as Feudal instead of Tribal. I could probably do it faster now that I really know what im doing, but this update will probably throw a wrench into all my experience
Wonder if marriages for Merchant characters will work similarly to CK2 (I think it was not like this in Vanilla, but the HIP mod has this feature though) were you basically have to pay a dowry first when it comes to marrying any female character that is of noble descent. Like, you can marry lowborn women without any other requirements, but in order to marry noble ones, you first have to pay dowry and the acceptance score for the marriage has extra requirements and whatnot depending on various stuff, like for example how the Byzantines and other "civilized" cultures won't accept your marriage offers if you're a nomad with the reason being something like "You're a filthy, dirty nomad".It could be something similar to that where they go like "Lol, who are you to marry my daughter??" even if you do have the money to pay dowry. So it would require you to both have the money for it first but also need you to have the 'prestige' or whatever, be actually settled as a merchant or 'prove' that you're actually somebody first or have the influence needed before you can mingle with nobles.
>>2389506vanilla ck2 also had merchants paying money for marriages, and feudal lords losing prestige for marrying them
>>2389472Well I was able to achieve everything I wanted to on my second try, but I forgot to conquer all the northern Isles, so they aren't part of the Kingdom of Mann and the Isles, that's going to piss me off for the rest of the run, Fuck. And I did a ton of shit before I noticed that so no going back now. I wish there was a way to integrate duchy titles into your lower kingdom titles when you're an emperor.
After long break, i decided to play CK3 again. I noticed there is this mechanic that if im too big then my neighbours can just declare war against my vassals and take my land without me being able to do anything until after 3 years. This is retarded wtf.

>>2395671these little things called the hussite wars and thirty years war happenedthat and seniority is better than gavelkind

Anyone here did any interesting Jewish playthroughs?Normally I don't interact with them at all and any chance I get to manually get rid of Jewish courtiers in my realm, I take it.But recently after finding out there was a Spanish King that had a Jewish mistress that did shit like manipulate him into getting fellow Jews into position of power within the kingdom and whatnot, I was thinking of starting up a playthrough as a Jewish seductress and seeing what comes out of that.Though I'm not sure of what to do aside from maybe securing multiple heirs on the seats of power of different kingdoms as I jumped from husband to husband and murder them as soon as they get me pregnant. I don't think I was to go revive the Jewish faith and have the Third Temple build or whatever the fuck because I actually hate Judaism to the point I wouldn't even entertain the idea of giving it any more power or credence in a video game like this.

>2 vassals rise up against me>one of them is also at war with neighboring kingdom at the same time>neighboring kingdom sieges their capital>other vassal, the primary instigator of this uprising, comes to the rescue of his brother-in-treason>instead of attacking the besieging army they just join the siege???>I get a random rp event with the instigating vassal and become his friend>he leaves the war>the other vassal is now completely alone against me and the neighboring kingdomworst co-conspirator ever 0/10
Is it worth getting into CK2 in current year?
>>2400132Cant wait till empires are stuck in even more endless civil wars cause they cant handle trade right and all the vassals are eternally mad.
>>2400132They're playing with forces that they can't handle, if they could make it work it would be decent but we know they won't be able to

>>2401111>Landed Rulers>>don't really trade, can set up acquisition routes to move goods into your lands. Merchants will do the restbut the game is about playing as the landed rulers, what's the point of a trade system if the player can't really engage with it
>>2401147The point is that now you can play as a merchant, like you sort of could in CK2.
>>2401153So they're adding more fucking extra classes of people to strain the CPU while still saying we can't have Baronys for performance reasons?
>>2401111>AI considerations>>it supposedly workslollmaonothing about the AI works, they even had to dumb it down to include the east asia
>>2401111It's kino... I kneel...
>>2401157Of all things they could add I think this is one of the best though?
Is there a hotkey to move the camera to the realm or location of whatever character is selected? Is there a mod to add such a hotkey?
>>2401221Average 4chan user
>>2401111>>2401115Bloated DLC designed to slow down your game.
Won't having a fuckton of merchants running around rape performance?
>>2401372Some guy with a funny moustache had a solution to that.
>>2401111Cant wait for 100 years into the game when a lack of wood brick the entire economy since no buildings can work or something like that which happened with eu5.
>>2401657This is the same thing with vic 3
>>2401157You actually can play barons in vanilla and have for a long time now. They just don't advertise it very well and there is fuck all to do as one.
>>2401661>Navy DLC>entire world says boats are too expensive and scraps their fleets>PDX says this is shippableOnly the finest Swedish quality folks
>>2401234been a minute since I played, can't you double click them to jump to their location?
>>2401747not him but I checked that against commanders & knights and it still does go to their current locationsingle click on their portraitit felt like there was some janky exception involving serving as a knight but apparently not
>>2401372Stop asking questions and trade the wares
>>2401372I assume it's going to be limited like adventurers
>>2401740Oh neat.
Are you seriously this incapable to doing any basic research PDX? >honey, fruits and cheese as comfortsThose were literally basic foods of the peasants. They are nowhere near a comfort food. You absolute mongrels. Go kill yourself, you retarded Swedes.
Can CK3 become abandonware already so that updates don't constantly break mods
>>2402182don't fret. mods will fix it.
>>2402182Calm down. The DLC is clearly still under development. They have time until the end of the year to fix it.
>>2402182>fruit is a comfort foodfrom the same company where 23 degrees is "very hot" kek
>>2402218>PDX fixing anythingIf they show something, there is 90% chance that is how it is going to be in the release. >>2402214The games relying on mods to fix stuff is exactly what makes them worse and worse over time.
>>2402182It's because grains are the staples that anyone can get by off of, and are the main economic and military measure of a region's food productionSure, people ate and exported fruits, cheeses, and honeys, but a city is looking to buy wheat, millet, or rice by the fucking tonnage, not by the cartload. The caloric intensity, storability, and seed potential from cereals is the reason why cereals are so widespread and remain the main function of many world diets todayYou wouldn't be able to feed a city off of "comfort" foods, but you could off of wheat
>>2402235Sweeds are way too used to the cold. The moment they feel even the tiniest bit of warmth, more so than they're accustomed to, they have a seizure and then pass out from a heat stroke.
>>2402241>>It's because grains are the staples that anyone can get by off of, and are the main economic and military measure of a region's food production>>Sure, people ate and exported fruits, cheeses, and honeys>imported>honey>cheese>fruitAll of these were produced by every single village. And they were part of literal tax records. That is how it was in the Kingdom of Hungary.
also>beasts of burden>only cows or horsesWHERE ARE OXES YOU DUMB SWEDES?!
the luxury foods are also weird as fuckfor some reason it includes sugar cane something that wasnt all that spread in medieval europe, but it is missing bunch of and I mean bunch of actual luxury foods. Where are actual european peppers like cinnamon? Where is Venison? The more I look at this shit, the more it makes me angry. I want to fucking bomb the PDX HQ.
>>2402324the plural is oxen also the image says cattleBull - male cattle with working partsSteer - male cattle castratedOx - male cattle castrated when used as a draft animalCow - female cattleStop getting mad at dumb shit you don't even know
>>2402343It is stupid to put all of these as cattle, when you make the beasts of burden category, because all of these had different purpose and especially different value. Also, Ox is its own thing, and there was wild Ox living in Europe too. Aurochs. So it is not just castrated male.
Especially if you are making a trade and markets, there should be separations for these.
>>2402348>Also, Ox is its own thing, and there was wild Ox living in Europe too. Aurochs. So it is not just castrated male.Except the Auroch weren't used as Oxen were (y'know wild) so the only relevant Oxen are the castrated male cattle
>>2402324>misread it as breasts of burdenoh god damn it
>>2402389it's okay, that will for sure be an actual trade good for when someone makes a porn mod related to trade where you can and traded goods such as exotic sex slaves
>>2402348Because it's still an abstraction,my dudeThey're literally just modifiers for duchies, they don't care about dairy cows versus angus beef, it's all the same and this isn't harvest moon. They are grouped commodities for convenience against micromanagement and calculation capacity. To a high lord it doesn't really matter, so as long as people get fed, fields get worked, and the shops turn out goods.>but muh tax records have barley at 1.2 and hops at 1.3 per bushelSilk and Silver is about transporting high value, non-perishing goods (they don't expire ingame) long distances in bulk for profit. I get wanting detail but this isn't a complex system, but landed players will barely have any influence besides putting in buy orders and building districts.
>>2402370Aurochs were used even in the middle ages, the way Oxen were.
>>2402396>I get wanting detail but this isn't a complex systemThe fact that people accept that is why the game is never going to be good. If anything CKIII needs more complexity and depth. >They are grouped commodities for convenience against micromanagement and calculation capacity.Even as groupped commodities there are still bunch of goods missing there, that were essential. >but landed players will barely have any influence besides putting in buy orders and building Which is also incredibly ahistorical, because landed nobility was doing bunch of speculations with traded and taxed goods.
