>>2387938this vatnik is useless
>>2387994Yaz is great, he absolutely fucks over enemy morale.
>>2387977I love men ass!
>>2387995Which makes him useless against half of the enemy factions because Xenos and MENACE don't have morale.
>>2388061Bugs all have morale, guncrawlers also have morale.
>>2388073You're right I confused morale with suppression.
Late game any faction with morale just chain routs. It doesn't matter how many tanks they field if they all start running after you kill a few of them. Yaz is useless against the one faction that remains any threat.
debating if I should start a new run for the update since I havent played it in a hot minute, my last save is right before doing the story menace mission so id be prime to experience the new workshop content but wont get to experience the early game with the supply rework and the save feels like I can run everyone I got pretty much
i want the tanks already
>>2388490What a shame they will be useless outside of comedy 100 hour runs
>>2388490the roster isn't diverse enoughget rid of the four white people so it can be even blacker and brown and female
>>2388518>the four white peopleaustralians and gingers confirmed nonwhite
Are menace going to be a gruelling, slow, HPcheck grind-em-down fight forever? I hate that.
Should I get into this game now? I'm leery of early access. Will this cuck me if I get too invested and will have to start over by the time they finish the plot or is it not like that?
Is the update big enough to come back for another campaign? Doesn't really seem like much.
>>2388539play? sure why notbuy? eh, not really worth the price
>>2388539pirate it and do a playthru
>>2388534just shoot more boolet
>>2388534>Are menace going to be a gruelling, slow, HPcheck grind-em-down fight forever? You can 1 shot KO the drones with the right build. Pretty sure you can do that to the soldiers too (high capacity SMG, maybe AP shotguns?)
>>2388590>the right buildmy darby with 4 dudes and SOC kpac and match ammo oneshots the nonsoldier menace infantry squads and im 100% sure its not any kind of optimal build
>>2388598Darby is one of said optimal builds. Her trait lineup makes her do comically huge damage to when she's in concealment which she always is.
>>2388539I don't think so. I got 2 playthroughs done in a few days. There's hardly anything there yet. What's there is great, but it feels like they need to at least triple the content for it to be worth the asking price. Best bet is to probably wait a few years for release and a few DLCs.
>>2388539>Should I get into this game now?Would you enjoy Xcom 2 if it wasn't total shit? Then get the game.If you don't think that sounds good, don't get it.
>>2388620>>2388617>>2388571>>2388587much to think about anons but you see i am a true storygamer in the sense im most interested in plot and atmosphere. I would play "slamming your dick and balls into a car door repeatedly deluxe edition" if it had cool atmosphere and an intriguing plotline. Xcom gameplay? Happy to learn if it has that stuff, ive never met a genre i didnt like. So like, from that perspective, do i lose anything buying in now (ie get to stopping point in campaign currently, 1.0 drops, they delete my save or something, alternately just waiting years for a crumb of story progression) or is it fine to drop in now.
>>2388633>im most interested in plot and atmosphereOk yeah definitely hold off then. There's nothing there in terms of story. You go to a system and do missions and in the background a rogue AI is running rampant. There may never really be a story if they are aiming for more of a sandbox like battle brothers.
>>2388633>im most interested in plot and atmosphereehits supposedly be the story game with characters but its not yet and there is its meh in general
>>2388633again, pirate and enjoy it now. and then depending on your experience, be excited for what they might do in the future
>>2388073Why do Guncrawlers out of all the Menace units have morale? Is it because they somehow use Pirate/Rogue Army vehicle code or something? Is it purely because they're Vehicles?
>>2388662Yes, but lore reasons is that guncrawlers are a advanced unit that is resource intensive to manufacture, and self preservation protocols kick in if damaged enough so it can withdraw for repair.
>>2388633> i am a true storygamer in the sense im most interested in plot and atmosphereHold off until the story is completed, right now the story basically goes>You are marine dude and your superiors died in an 'accident'>Oh noes, big cyborg niggas fucking shit up>TO BE CONTINUED!
>>2388662>Why do Guncrawlers out of all the Menace units have morale? Is it because they somehow use Pirate/Rogue Army vehicle code or something? Is it purely because they're Vehicles?Guncrawlers are modelled as 'big biological units' similar to blaster bugs, which also means the big game hunter nukes them with bonus damage. Also why they have morale.
>>2388684>you’re a space marine on a base on a Martian moon>suddenly, demons from hell>what do?Still better story than 90% of modern games that focus on their shitty ass writing and unlikeable characters
>>2388698In that I cannot disagree. I'd rather a simple story than an overly complicated shit one.
>>2388684That's all it really needs to be. We REALLY don't need a "America/capitalism/Whites/Men" bad propaganda slop, just let us play Marines in Spess.
>>2388639>>2388649>>2388657>>2388684alright cool, i think if its that barebones i'll actually try it out. Like by the time 1.0 comes out hopefully the story will be actually polished so even going back to early game won't feel bad and i'll have a bit of a handle on it.
>>2388742>"America/capitalism/Whites/Men" bad propaganda slopwhat about "America/capitalism/Whites/Men" good propaganda slop?
>>2388744try it, i have feeling that its ''more fun in EA than in 1.0'' type of game
>>2388744yeah they gonna patch the fun out of it based on feedback from modern retard gamers because its clearly too much game to handle for them

>>2388860Gibberish
how is the elsa? I never got it before and just got it from a random event near the start of my new campaign
>>2388991great vs menace, overkill against everything else
>>2388991Good against the Heavy Infantry of Menace and Rogue Army. Otherwise too much of an overkill with poor supression against chaff infantry, but great at melting armor. Wouldn't use it against Guncrawlers unless they're disabled.
>>2388995>>2388997well good that i got something in advance to use when i hit the menace for free
>>2388991>>2388997My advice would be to give it to SL who use Squad Weapons as their main source of damage, and use ELSA as infinite ammo back up against heavily armored troops, SL's like Yaz, Lim or Vamplew. Preferably if their squad weapons deal good suppression.
>>2389003And even then it's kind of a waste of slot since you can use the 2 accessory slots to give them ammo pouches and armor piecing ammo to deal with the heavies. I really don't know what to do with it currently. It's underwhelming currently. The Laser Rifles are just superior and you can take 8 of them.
>>2388991i love ityou can run it with a minimal squad and delete most enemies at good rangeit lacks the outright anti vehicle capacity of dedicated at weapons but it makes up for it with fantastic versatility and fire ratesimilarly it lacks the fire rate to truly be an excellent anti infantry weapon but it is good enough to still be functional and benefits from solid range, minimal falloff, and infinite ammo>>2389003hard disagreeif you aren't spamming the esla then don't even bring itwhy pay a huge premium for a special weapon just to use arcs anyway?i typically give it darby and keep a minimal squad with just a few shotguns>>2389006your comparisons are imbecilic8 laser rifles is a vastly more expensive option even without considering armor etcap ammo and pouches are, themselves, cheaper but also require good weapons and squaddies to be effectivein contrast the elsa is 50 supply and is all a sl needs to be effectiveyou don't need squaddies, you don't need armor, you don't need support at, or weapon accessoriesall you really need is camo and scavenger rags/jaeger fatigues3 shots at 8 range doing 240 armor damage or 120 hp damage with the same penetration as crowbars is enough to kill almost any unit in two salvosit has a place in almost any composition as a cheap and versatile response to virtually any threati'd class it as one of the best items easily9 laser rifles is obviously stronger but also costs more than double the plasma gun and has significantly more falloff
>>2389047Well, with the promotion tax getting, there's practically no reason not to bring 5 fully kitted out squads. By the time you'll get ELSA you'll already have 2k supplies to deploy with.
>>2389082*promotion tax getting cut
>>2389006> I really don't know what to do with it currently. It's underwhelming currentlyIt was very good before nerf, with iirc 60 pen. I had half squad with this fancy nigger in heaviest armor + laser rifles and elsa, it was not my most powerfull squad but it could kill any target lighter than stug. Now, with 35 pen? Lol. Lmao even.
>>2389102Which is goddamn funny to me because most MMGs and some high tier LMGs have higher armor pen like SSW. Despite the fact that it's clearly intended to be used as a suppression tool, but it has such a high fire rate that it can reduce Menace Heavy Infantry to half health with 2 bursts.
>>2389104Balance is real menace (c).
I want the battle tank NYOW give me it RIGHT NYOOOW!!!!
>>2388991Elsa is pretty cool
For a while I thought none of the squad leaders were useless, but now I'm back to thinking these three are. Does anyone know how to make use of them?>CardaNot only do her stats suck, but her perks do too. Only share the load is good. It makes her alright with a tripod weapon, but without AP and without vanguard, the fighting usually already moved on by the time she can set up. >BogYou need huge investment to make him merely ok. Anything beyond a pirate truck with a radar is a waste on him.>VamplewSoaking up fire before returning it in a burst sounds alright. Except he has no damage perks to make use of it. His out-of-cover perk doesn't work if the enemy touches cover on any sides.
>>2389623Carda is an ATGM ammo carrier and buffs your whole squad while she's on the fieldBog is...Yeah he's shit now. He's super cheap but at the cost of not making your vehicle strongVamp is in theory able to tank a lot of damage with the right build.
>>2389623Carda has a pretty solid morale buff skill, I've had some success using her as a pure scout/call-out-target character. As you said yourself, share the load is great for defensive missions where you can just set her up with an ATGM paired with a marker SL.I guess Bog is usable as the cheapest possible option if you want a rocket organ. That's about it.Vamplew's unique, in my opinion, sucks. But that is kind of due to the fact the game's meta atm is not being shot at all. However, he starts with 105 AP and has much better crit chance than other 2 star SLs. Just use him as a general infantryman without any specialization. The out of cover perk is excellent vs menace because they will very rarely be in cover
>>2389623All three of those have being cheap as one of their main features, which is mostly irrelevant now that they casualized the supply economy to shit so they lose a lot of their appeal. Bog and Carda suffer double here, because they also lost their promotion tax advantage. They might become good early game picks again if they ever unfuck the balance. Vamplew on the other hand could use an armor rework, because his heavy armor focus makes little sense in a game where heavy armor is almost always the inferior choice. That said:>CardaDedicated tank hunter. She gets the relevant perks for it and Share the Load means she can take more ammo than everyone else. Early game she can an RPG, later on she can upgrade to an ATGM.Her personal perk guarantees she has good accuracy after the first few turns, and if you take her as a starter her top tier growth makes up for her crappy base stats in the long run.>BogHe's cheap as shit, which used to make him a great early-game pilot option so you can afford to field vehicles more consistently before you have higher supply limits and other ways to bring the cost down. But again, that's become mostly irrelevant. He's still a pilot which is good, but he's easily the worst pilot on the roster now.>VamplewHis base cost isn't as low as the other two, but his armor discount used to be a decent way to save some supplies. Combined with a nice selection of promotions, he was the ideal guy to put in the (heavy, expensive) pirate boarding armor as jumpjet infantry. He can still do that very well, but his advantage of getting armor for cheap is less relevant. His unique perks might fool you into thinking he should be a tank, but you never want to deliberately put people in the line of fire in this game so it's less that you should build him as a tank and more than he'll be less fucked when you accidentally overextend or have him caught out of cover, which is still good for jumpjet infantry.
>>2389623Vamp is the cheap heavy armour user. His perks are designed for him to be a suppressing unit. (Ignoring ap loss from suppress/consecutive hardware usage). You either use him as a tanky lmg or smg squad. That said, giganigga is the better tank with momentum and reduced suppression. He's much more expensive though.Carda is the potential character. If you constantly use her she becomes good due to her 9 growth stat. You definitely need athletic and buff on her if you're using tripod weapons.Bog is the really cheap vehicle support with recycled parts. Put bog in a pirate truck and use a rocket organ with fragmentation.
>>2389623>CardaShare the load, mobile infantry with SMG/Shotguns, grenade launchers. Stick her with Achilleas or Bog.>BogATGM truck with Lucky Shot one shots most vehicles, Medium Mech with double Organ Pipe Launchers paired with fragmentation. He can also be a decent chaff killer with the grenade launcher on APC. >VamplewQuite ironically I found use for him by sticking his black ass in the LPPS with a SSW.
Btw don't use the wiki. It's outdated by a month or two right now.
Fighting the Menace is so miserable. You can't even be aggressive against them since their Skirmishers one shot 3 squaddies at a time even in the heavy armor.
Besides being a meme counter to bugs, has anyone found use for the Aussie? I got him last, so even Carda has 100 AP. The only use I found for him right now is as worse version of Pike as a spotter.
>>2389664His skill works against all vehicles and some menace units, not just bugs. He has vanguard, that makes him more conventient to use than the other 1 stars. And if it bleeds is a really good perk. Still he kind of sucks, his unique skill is not that strong. I'm trying to make use of him with the distruptive fire + finisher combo, but it's a lot of work.I'd rank him third place among the one stars, behind Jean and Sachin.
>>2389675>His skill works against all vehicles and some menace units, not just bugs.Since when? Is the skill description lying?
>>2389685>Since whenSince always. It works on all 'large organic things', which includes tank crews and guncrawlers.
>>2389664He, uhh, has pretty good accuracy. Shame literally everything else about him sucks, to the point where one of his unique perks is a literal joke
>>2389690>'large organic things'That is so fucking retarded. They should've worded in a way that implies that he gains damage buffs against ALL large targets, bugs and vehicles included.
>>2389714He's not actually supposed to have damage buffs to vehicles, it'll be removed eventually. But he's absolutely supposed to wreck large MENACE units as they are 'living'.
>>2389623Honestly it's J.G. who's the worst overall. Only thing he has going for him is that he's cheap.>>2389649>Medium Mech with double Organ Pipe LaunchersMother of God how have I not realized that's an option>>2389646Every run I've tried, I take Carda and immediately give her the growth perk. And in every single one of those her fat ass never reached 100 AP.
>>2389718>Every run I've tried, I take Carda and immediately give her the growth perkGrowth potential is capped at 10. On Carda you only get 1 point instead of 3 added
>>2389718Growth perk is almost universally pointless. Even on SL's with low growth potential, spending the points on an 'actual' perk (buff, scout, unique perks, whatever) will get you way more bang for your buck over the game.
>>2389720>>2389721Yup. I've had Carda and Bog reach AP 100 at about the same rate despite picking them both as the starting squad.
>>2389715I think they should rework him entirely. Having an SL pool being occupied by a dude who hard counters certain units of a single faction is retarded.
>>2389623carda is cheap recon who is perfect for atgmhe innate perk isn't terrible eitherbog isn't great but he is cheapi typically regretted taking him but now that promotion tax is gone he is basically uselessivey is also terrible but, again, why even take a 1 star vehicle now?i like vamphis skill does come into use and his stats are decentwhile not the best 2 star he is still a solid 2 star just don't obsess about his perk and think of it as an occasional bonus>>2389718i agree jg is uselesshis only decent stat is accuracy and his unique perk is often useless
>>2389763>ivey is also terrible but, again, why even take a 1 star vehicle now?You can stick her with a long tank gun and take both AP reducing skills and take her bonus aim and damage against marked targets to delete tanks. Also she does wonders with the howitzer mortar. She can use the second tank shot for 35 AP and then move afterwards, slowly inching forward. Great with Pike, but then again, Pike is great in every squad configuration.
>>2389720Be real fucking nice if it said that anywhere, that's just a waste of a promotion then.>>2389763>Ivey>terribleWhat's terrible about firing six times in one turn? Get both of her end tier perks and she gets a 25 AP cost reduction firing heavy weaponry consecutively. That's fucking goofy. Her only real weakness is keeping her fed ammo when you've got her shitting out 6 to 8 attacks per turn.
>>2389623>CardaDedicated user of smoke mortar, airburst launcher and AT.>BogCheap vehicle if you tight with supply.>VampWhile tanking generally is bad in this game and you want not be shooted at all, this guy have discount on armor and get benefits from get shooted. So it's your heavy frontline squad that can take some hits when things go bad. Since his skills for support weapon and armor cost absurdly high, probably better have him in ~5-6 mens squad: enough models for take some loses, but supply cost not that high as full squad.
>>2389626bog is an atgm or vehicle radar carrier
>>2389767>>2389826>investing that much into a bad sl just to make them okYou can make anybody work with enough gear and promotions the question is why pick them over anybody else.
>>2389906ivey is great, shoots the heavy slot double machinegun like 6 times a turn
>>2389664he has vanguard so he can get into forward observation spots without vehicle assistance much faster than anyone who isnt a 3star while also being the only vanguard character with call out target
>>2389906...because she's a cheap SL with massive AP reductions that nobody else gets and lets her utilize the good equipment better than other SLs?

>>2389906>You can make anybody work with enough gear and promotionsSo why not take the cheapest options so that gear and promotions are easier to afford?

>>2390129You're not supposed to be using single shot weapons
>>2390129ok but have you considered using her in nighttime snowstorm missions shooting at enemies hiding behind full cover at max rangebecause she is the best pilot in the game at that
they gotta change the weapon slot on the apc and ifv to medium because otherwise why would I use the tanks outside of fun factorlike id still plop rewa in one but at least give me a reason for it
>>2390344the tank can have both a heavy weapon and the light slot at the same timethats about it
>>2390360yeah but then so do those other twoso outside of some more armor and for the vibe theres not a real reason to, so i can see them changing it
>>2390344It's a heavily armored tank. Bog or Gabriel can roll in with zig-zag, minimize silhouette, and hotwire to tank everything.
>>2390363You cant use both heavy weapon and light weapon, oh except the tank turret.
>>2390381Gabriel can tank everything in an apc already.
I go last because God is always first
>>2390446Based retard.
>>2389623>Cardagood with drones, or target designators if athletic. She's only really good if you start with her, since her growth potential will shine the most if you use her a lot in the early game. so by the time you start hiring new SL's she's about as good as a level2. But yeah if you don't start with her and get her late, then she's garbage. Bog. you say it like being a cheap radar and being the most cost effective scout in the game is a bad thing. Also with his perks, upgrade him to a radar atv and carry some vtam missiles so that you can overload, lucky shot, vtam a target, and then either use radar or pop smoke for defense. very useful. Vamplew, you don't really want to be shot at, at all, but with vamp you can at least bring good armor. you would think the best thing to do would be to load up on armor and yolo down the middle, but that's just a road to being suppressed (it can work, his ability works well with smoke grenades or target designators, or drones that don't rely on accuracy but require a lot of ap) He's actually better at wearing better than normal armor and engaging from distance where enemy attacks will do less suppression and damage, but also tick up his counter for when he can attack back. You don't want to take 4 attacks a turn, lose all your armor and get pinned down, but you do want to take about 1-2 attacks a turn at further range so that every other turn you can snipe or shoot long distance like crazy.
>>2390301>>2390129Dunno what you guys are on about. This is my Ivey and I'm at the point where the menace intro mission has just spawned. Incredibly solid, and wasn't even the first pull from the dossiers.
>Stug and CenturionI mean I don't dislike it, but I was expecting something different.
>>2390484Do you really need that much ammo?
>estimated 3 fucking weeks until the tanks become availableAtleast I will come with light weapons being equipable on medium slots so Gabriel's going to be zooming around in an ATV.
>>2390517Usually
>>2390515disappointing that they think the next patch will be small since the last patch wasn't that big either, Crafting is nice, but having the equipment require encountering the current late game threat in order to be craftable is weird since in order to unlock the equipment you have to beat the units that you would want the equipment for to beat. So I just kind of get to what I assume is the mid game and find myself not really testing the new equipment out since its just seal clubbing.Light weapons being able to be slotted into medium weapon slots is cool, I literally just ran into that problem in my game last night where I had two vehicles but only one medium weapon. I wasn't expecting that and seeing even medium walkers able to take light weapons is interesting to me. The vehicle modularity and the different types of vehicles is a great selling point and I kind of hope they lean into it more.Though I was feeling worse about the updates since i thought the [Redacted] update was one of the major content updates and I was majorly disappointed, but then I looked at the road map again and the redacted update is actually separate from major content updates. So hopefully the next major update pushes the game more into the mid-late game.

>>2390845and the tank will solve it somehow?
>>2390848Probably not. The game is dead then. Battle Brothers was better.
>>2390515The APC and IFV have this modern, sleek look to them, very Alien colonial marines. Then you have a fucking stug and centurion, literal WWII tanks.I'm not sure what they want the art design to be.

>>2390913Yeah, but the Waynigs also drive the same APC as TCR
>>2390934>Yeah, but the Waynigs also drive the same APC as TCRfair enough, maybe just a thing of "ye wayback can have APC monkey models but they wont get our serious stuff" so no real tanks from the high end TCR produce for backwater system and thus they build their own domestic stuff
i dont frickin wanna wait for the 21st to use the tankshopefully that next update brings with it a new squad leader or two since it says new things and i cant imagine it only being the two tanksmaybe another set of workshop items to craft
>>2391273new things is pirate laser truck and Rogue Army hmg walker
Was the heavy tank good? I never had a chance to try it, but looking at its stats, it doesn't seem so bad. It's tankier than the IFV, while barely costing more. And its main gun is free, so adding that makes it even cheaper than the IFV. I don't see what the point of the battle tank is, though.

Perks that everyone said were great but you found them mediocre? For me, it's mobilized infantry.
>>2392302Mobile infantry is definitely one of them, it's a mediocre tactic that holds back both the vehicle and the infantry squad. Pointfire maybe? People seem to love it, but on most people it's a waste of a perk slot. I very rarely get into situations where I need need the extra accuracy but wouldn't deploy, especially with athletic.
>>2392373It's funny that you mention those two, because they go great together. Since MI ideally wants to get out of the vehicle, fire a couple of shots, then get in again, you rarely want to spend the AP to deplay them so Pointfire is great. For similar reasons Run & Gun is also great on MI since you always start your turn with a move action (getting out of the taxi).Pointfire is also good on jetpack squads because they'll want to deploy as little as possible as well to stay mobile, since you can't jump while deployed.
How the fuck do you build Gabriel? His Fervor ability/skill/promotion seems like a meme (until the update that lets you put light weapons on medium slots, that is. Then I will probably consider it)I tried using him as a sort of mechanized support, for infantry to use as cover, but I already have that in the form of Achilleas (though I also end up just having him rape everything with dual autocannons)
>>2392606switch them out, gonzales is much better taxi driver, greekaboo a much better mech pilotget the divine protection perk and your taxi should never get damaged while the squad from inside deletes everything
>>2392611>greekaboo a much better mech pilotalready using him as a mech pilot, again, dual autocannons appear to rape everything>taxi driverI've been using bog as a taxi driver, though I can see why gabriel would be better.
>>2392618bog makes the taxi quite squishy, is okay if you don't mind it but can be troublehe is a good cheap carrier for the indirect rockets and/or vehicle radar(the radar doesn't mark for indirect rockets, its just great scouting tool, fuck enemy camo)
>>2392638>bog makes the taxi quite squishyyeah I noticed that aswell, but the ERA (Explosive Reactive Armour) makes up for it well since it lets you tank explosives>he is a good cheap carrier for the indirect rocketswill try that outSo far i've been using Ivory (the jingwei pilot) as a mortar spammer, with jane serving as the marker
So with the new supplies did anyone do cmg darky yet? Run around with the movement drug, refill it with scavenger and destroy things from 12 squares away. It's the most efficient way to use her now that she's more constrained by squaddie cost than by promotions.
>>2392373>>2392302Eh I think all perks are good, Mobile infantry is one of my favorites though. i think Commando can be over rated but even then its good on rewa, i think its just diminished returns on darby, since she has no problem hitting, and doesn't really need defense if she's constantly concealed. >>2392606My preference is. expert pilot, zigzag, fervor, divine intervention. luxury perks: bags and belts, unbreakable, scout, minimize silhouette. Makes him extremely tough and extremely fast, then you pair him with lim (run and gun, berserk, pointfire (or grenadier), mobile infantry, blaze of glory).you get good fire power where you need it reliablyDon't give him a medium weapon, and then just give him era and advanced sensors, or other defensive equipment like smoke launchers or camo netting. or even extra ammo for his light weapon. I actually like Achilleas also as a transport, but less of an APC and more of an IFV, since his traits. And since he's going to be fighting more I pair him with the squad that doesn't have mobile infantry or is worse as mobile infantry squad, since they'll be fighting dismounted mostly.I think bog is the worst transport, but best in a utility cheap role, while Rewa and Ivory, are both way better at combat than being transports, since they're not as tanky and are better with heavier weapons
>>2392638Bog is a terrible taxi because 1. he's squishy and 2. he has so little ap that he's slow as hell.
>>2392685hes okay if you dont have points for dedicated taxilike 90% of use cases for Bog
>>2392708forgot to mention, the laser rifle shreds infantry, it's absurd
>>2392724lasers are great against anything with decent rmor and not much hpthey delete human infantry, even heavies, and can work on some lighter vehicles but do nothing against menace
>>2392726menace has lots of HP? that's neat, haven't really noticed but explains how they are so tanky I guess
>>2392708GOOD MORNING SAAR WOULD YOU LIKE TO NOT REDEEM GOOGLE PLAY CARD

I'd give Sachin something else honestly, I give Jean lasers for better looting opportunity and Vamplew because he use the extra ap from his perk to vent heat and still fire.

Tech is best with the CMG, Darby is best with the CMG, Wetteroth is best with the CMG, Carda is best with the CMG, Vamplew is best with the CMG... Literally no reason to use any other weapon.

Thoughts on Tripod Laser Lance for infantry? It's in my black market right now as a rare item. Should I buy it for 600~?
Any tips for a new player? Rogue guys just showed up and are rocking my shit. My teamLim>Perks: Scout, Mobile Infantry, Point Fire, Berserk>Equipment: K-PAC, GMW Auto-Launcher, SIPV Armor, Magazine PouchesPike>Perks: Scout, New Tricks>Equipment: K-PAC, Fatigues, Magazine PouchesRewa>Perks: Expert Pilot, Unbreakable>Equipment: Light Troop Carrier w/ Auto-Laser usually, sometimes AutocannonCarda>Perks: Scout, Share the Load, Tankbuster>Equipment: K-PAC, RGL Anti-Tank Gun, Class II Soft Armor, Magazine Pouches, Target DesignatorSy>Perks: Trinketing, Scavenger, Steady Gun, Critical Hits>Equipment: K-PAC, Anti-Material Crocodile, SIPV Armor, Magazine Pouches, Camouflage KitThoughts? Any suggestions?
>>2393569It's bad. It's alright on vehicles but with a tripod it's really bad. Not only it requires setting up, it costs 60 AP to fire and it needs to cool down after two shots. And it has shit damage too. It can be used if you randomly get it early but don't buy it.>>2393588Don't use SIPV, it's s trash. It barely protects more than the soft armour while costing twice as much. Give the crocodile to Pike instead of Sy, her accuracy is shit. Sy should use the grenade launcher instead because it has an accuracy bonus. Take suicide drones if you can get them, those are really good against their walkers. Carda should use something like the heavy machine gun instead, it's can kill the same targets the RGL can while also being good against infantry. Try to get binoculars too and put it on Pike so you can see their snipers.
>>2393588Give the auto-launcher to Carda and have her massacre infantry with doubled ammo from Share the Load. It can fire over trees, buildings and smoke so you can safely set her up and have others scout targets for her.Put camouflage kit on Pike , not getting spotted will let him get away with running in pajamas, too. Have him carry the anti-tank gun (which I assume is the recoilless rifle)Try to feed kills to Sy to get the good shit, especially the rocket launcher heavy troops carry.
>>2393588All based on my personal preferences of course, so YMMV:>LimI'd take Run & Gun over Scout on a Mobile Infantry squad. Also, because you're going to spend a lot of time inside a vehicle, you don't really need armor. Might as well just get a load-bearing rig so you can take extra grenades or drugs or whatever. I'm also not convinced that the GMW is a good choice for MI, give it to Pike or Carda.>PikeNot sure what your plan is here. The cookie cutter Pike build is to make him a support unit, but your choices don't really make sense for that. Even if you want to build him as a rifle squad (which is a valid option), I'd sooner take something like Athletic or Solid Grouping. And you'd probably want to put him in some light armor in that case. The value of New Tricks is questionable, though probably easier to justify on rifle squad Pike than on support Pike.>RewaI have no opinion on Unbreakable. I build Rewa for pure offense so a defensive perk like that doesn't even cross my radar. I dislike the Auto-Laser though. It's got decent penetration and it's nice that you have essentially infinite ammo, but in terms of damage output I find that it always underperforms compared to the Autocannon.>CardaI typically take Athletic over Scout on her, so she can better keep up despite her low starting AP, but this looks like a perfectly decent build to me.>SyI'm not a big fan of Sy in general, but I guess giving her a Crocodile to finish off big targets and hopefully trigger Trinketing is a decent use of her. Just mind her shitty base accuracy though. Maybe consider giving her some consumable accessory so you can get more mileage out of Scavenger. Also probably don't need the armor on her if she's going to be a sniper.I'd say the main things you lack for dealing with RA is a decent scout/spotter (though in a pinch you can just give the Camo Kit to Carda for a decent scout), as well as some anti-armor
>>2393569Tripods, with the notable exception of atgm, are generally pretty weak outside of defense missions. Of course, in the hands of giganigga they go from shit to amazing.
>>2393569It's really good in a defense mission against pirates where you can put someone in a tower and just fry incoming junk trucks all day long. It's pretty meh outside of a situation like that though.
>>2393645It's not even good for that. It can't fry more than one truck a turn, it has to vent on the third turn and it does nothing to heavy trucks. It's a genuinely bad weapon. Similarly to the mortar, it's only good in the hands of the AI, because any damage you take hurts, but it has no stopping power.
>>2393696Fair point, but it's got good range and penetration, and enough damage to blow up shitty pirate trucks in a single shot, so it feels satisfying to use. Sure there are better options but in the early game I still like it. I definitely wouldn't pay premium for it on the Black Market, but if you get it as a random reward I find it does have its uses.
Try giving Pike pirate speed. Unlimited AP! Comboes especially well with kamikaze Jean. Charge her up, send her running into the enemy, blow them up with an explosive or two, refill and repeat.
>>2392820>Was Wayback used as a dumping ground for undesirables before the NOT-AGE-OF-STRIFE?One of the loading screen lore bits literally says this almost verbatim about sending barges full of prisoners on a one-way trip to the Wayback system. So yes, it's full of browns and blacks because a good portion of its populace were convicts lmaoSpace Australia, except it had the demographics of modern American prisons. >>2394126You got ambushedUnless it's early game where your vehicle can tank everything, have an infantry scout go first since vehicles can barely see units 3 tiles away.
>>2394126The AI cheats and always knows where your troops are located, it also knows their line of sight and maximum fire distance. It will literally run to the edge of the map and stay a single tile away from what you can fire at.Also your vehicles have a lower viewrange than the infantry. It's why you always send Scouts with binos first.
>>2393634>>2393626>>2393621Appreciate the advice. I've for some reason found a lot of success with Lim having the auto-launcher, as he goes around the map with mobile infantry. I didn't realize Pike was support and feel like I've kind of ruined him with the perks I selected for him, but eh. I might hire another infantry squad leader and see what I get. Anything I should be aware of in terms of good equipment or bad equipment?
>>2394132Smokes are great, grenades are awful, you want binos and camo kits, drones are good even as a distractions, buy at least a single NVG for your scouts, range is king, set up weapons are only for defense, except for ATGM since it has 15 tile range, have some suppression tool like an LMG, MMG or rifles with fire rate of 3 or higher and ALWAYS carry AT. Even when you think you don't need to.
>>2394136Oh, and yeah, Tech, being a chad that he is can use markers for 30AP WITHOUT deploying, meanwhile someone like say, Darby without Athletic would need to spend 20AP to deploy and another 40AP to mark the target.
>>2394137yeah but why would you ever bother marking shit? atgm is severely overrated
>>2394139Get a load of this guy!

>>2394129>it also knows their line of sight and maximum fire distance.can't you do the same to the AI though? This game is leagues ahead of XCOM 1 and 2. Prove me wrong.
>>2394251I can't, because the claim is true.

>>2394340>>2394321fake Xcom 2 is fake. TFTD was Xcom 2.
>>2394251It's nice when you can clear every enemy with a careful sequence of actions, very beautiful finishes. But the problem then is NuXCOM is a continuous series of the above rather than dynamic situations where you have a significant tug of war and thus something a player has to actually make decisions and tradeoffs for.I think you're asking the wrong question. The right question is whether Menace has done a better job as a strategy game compared to all those post-Nu-XCOM clones which tried to bridge the gap between the new and old style of gameplay. Many of those fell flat on their faces like Phoenix Point. If this was the question then I think the answer is partially yes, but they still have a lot of work to be "leagues ahead".
Why ayyyqueenz kill my vehicles non-stop?Whats up with that?
>>2394321>>2394340>>2394377>>2394379The real XCOM is called Phoenix Point.
>>2394626stop getting your vehicles too close to it. you can scout it out, and use your superior range to do damage before it gets close. But also zig zag is my favorite vehicle perk, even if you just move 3 spaces its +15% def which is as good as commando, but on a high ap pilot who just spends the turn driving you can easily get +45% defense.
>>2394626An smg with armour piercing rounds will one tap alien warriors and queens. Your mobile infantry should always have that loadout for bugs, as those units will always rush your vehicle.
>>2394682>Armour piercing I mean the ammo that does extra armour damage btw, not penetration.
I've been fucking around with using only infantry, tech is incredible with the m6 cmgcarda is kinda shit but at least she can haul ammo, after my last game got fucked by walkers I got her a pal in preparation for walker spam, which might be excessivereally don't like the autocannonI know people like pike as command but he's such a good shot I mainly just use him as a rifleman, which I know is also another intended build for himLim just seems generic but not bad, I liked Yaz when I had him, just Russian Lim
>>2394701Try to have scavengers. I play infantry focused too and getting more uses out of some accessories made a huge difference.
>>2394701Might as well build Lim as discount Yaz with counterattack.
>>2394701A lot of Carda's issues stem from the fact that>she's abominably slow and low on AP>all the special weapons that benefit the most from her extra ammo require full deploying>by the time she's ready to fire, everything is either dead or ran awayYou can solve it by giving her the jetpack armor and athletic. She'll always be a turn slower than Tech but at 90 AP she can jump, Deploy and setup any weapon to be ready next turn. Or get up and immediately be ready to jump. You can even let her carry the +10AP drug so she has far more flexibility + ability to fire thrice a turn with Full Send.
>>2394882She's cute tho
>>2394683>the ammo that does extra armour damage btw, not penetrationThat's Hollow Point, not Armor Piercing.
>>2395007It's REND ammo, retard.

Newfag here, which starting lineup do you recommend?Watch party elite play a while back, not sure if too much changed but I know the general gist of the game
>>2395324My classic is Darby, Lim, Rewa, Carda.
>>2395324pike + 2 infantry that total 3 or 4 stars + rewa is what i would recommend i think
>>2395324I always go Pike/Lim/Rewa/Darby since I think those are more or less the best options you can get for each role. Pike as scout/ap buffer/call-out-target, Lim as mobile infantry, Rewa as the best pilot atm unless you're confident banking on Achilles' shield guard, and Darby is meta since concealment is meta.
>>2395324if you're going infantry then Darby and Tech are both good. since darby is good at scouting and tech is good at using heavy weapons while mobileif you prefer vehicles then Achilleas and lim are good. Achilleas is versatile and can do a lot but is expensive, Lim is the best mobile infantry unit for getting in and out of transports. Carda is better being picked sooner than hired later, but starts off fairly weak but grows quicklyPike is the opposite good stats, and has a skill that works immediately that can synergize well with other sls, but has low growth potential. Bog is a cheap pilot, while Rewa is a better offensive pilot.
>>2395324I goAchilleas, Lim, Tech, Carda.
>>2395324always take carda, she grows into a pretty good unit if you train her since the start, and is permauseless if you get her later in the gamemeanwhile say Pike you can get later on and he will still perform great as AP dispenser for your best units

as far as early game weapons go, I see a lot of people saying the kpac is superior to the g3 and the arc but I don't see itthe arc seems to kill better and the g3 outranges all pirates except outcasts and outcasts can't do shit at max range even out of cover
>>2395599KBAR is a long range monster early on, but a combination of enemies in cover, long range and low early accuracy of SL's means their killing power is not actually as great as you think. And when SL's get more powerful you should get the KBAR variants or HAMMER instead.ARC is way better at killing and suppression but also way shorter range.KPAC is a good middleground, suppresses people to hell and back, but at a more comfortable range and with acceptable damage.Give it hollowpoints.
>>2395599if you have a squad that gets close consistently give it arcotherwise kpaccrowbar early game is bad because it only shoots twice per ammo point and it has less ammo points than arc and kpac.granted the ammo count is only important for expert where you get drowned in enemies and WILL run out of ammo
>>2395665>if you have a squad that gets close consistently give it arcHonestly if you're getting that close, give them shotguns and AP rounds. Way way more powerful.
>>2395603>>2395665The problem is getting hollowpoints is rng, especially early game, and I've personally found its not very good at suppression due to aforementioned early sl accuracy issuesthe g3 usually kills at least one guy, which suppresses, and the arcs killing ability also leads to suppressionalbeit, I am using 8 man squads so maybe in 6 man squads the kpac edges out the other options?I like the shotguns but the 2 tiles of range really do make a difference when engaging piratesI also give my g3s the starting mag pouches on expert and its usually enough to suppress the enemy and get guys to wavering for the arcs to close in and solidify the mass route and executionI'm not saying I'm totally right, I'm just saying in my experience, the kpac's range has not been helpful, and it doesn't seem to suppress as often as its talked aboutmaybe I'm totally wrong but this has been my experience
>>2395676Hollowpoints make KPAC more deadly, but they're deadly enough without them early game.If you have no hollowpoints by the time you're fighting MENACE...Whoops?
The Crowbar vs Arc vs Kpac argument is literally, exactly, copiedly the same as BRs vs AK (7.62s) vs AR (5.56s).Ultra skilled marksmen who can make use of them from a safe distance -> advanced Crowbar or other battle rifle variantsIf you know you can't get through the armor of an opponent but can wear it down up close -> ARCsFor every other non-niche situation and general purpose use -> K-PAC
I hope this one gets, down the line, a Conquest Mode like the Terminator DF game. Some kind of mega Op made of several missions or even a planetary map.
Darby owes me sex.
>>2395668shotguns make it much harder to use cover effectively and they have a lot less range than the arc while their extra damage is completely irrelevant vs a large amount of enemies
>>2395012You're using it wrong. Rend becomes increasingly better as the ROF increases.Rend smgs one shot every infantry, every alien, and light vehicles. They two shot medium vehicles and cause defects on heavy vehicles.
>>2395324Darby. Concealment is too strong. It looks like they're changing late game factions to have more detection methods albeit.Achilles. He's the strongest pilot. With the promotion change, there's no reason to take a cheaper pilot early.Tech. He's the tankiest infantry in the game. He doesn't provide immediate benefits in your first op. Once you loot a jetpack or tripod weapon, he's great. The question for me is Carda or Lim. Considering that I'd rather promote the other 3 first, I usually take Carda due to the innate growth stat.
>>2395755>their extra damage is completely irrelevant vs a large amount of enemiesNo? LmaoThey can hit more than one unit in a squad per shot (their 2 shots per salvo is technically 3-4) and they do bonus damage based on HP values of the target.
>>2395324Darby, Lim, Tech, and Carda. Until you find better options, give your starting rocket launcher to Tech and the MG to Carda. Make your first dossier purchase a pilot if you find any medium/heavy vehicle weapons early and hope you don't pull Bog when you do.
>>2395599Range is king, period. People say concealment is OP, but concealment is just an abstraction of range. If you outrange your target, they cannot fight back. And with how tight the action point economy is, the less you have to move into range, the more shooting you can do.
>>2395049I am unreasonably annoyed by this

>>2395917Get +3 intel on both You don't need medbay if you have WOO, once you have above 70 troopers, consider replacing WOO with Salvage operations.Keep Fixer. >>2396736There no single reasons to take athletic as first promo.
>>2396736when you take the growth perk
Newfag from earlier, how early should I hire new squad leaders?
>>2397006As soon as you can. The only time when hiring new squad leaders is mid to late of the current early access build. Also, hire them before finishing operations so you don't waste authority.
>>2396736Yes, Scout.
>>2397041The only time when hiring new squad leaders is a bad idea is mid to late of the current early access build*
How many squads and vehicles are you guys deploying per mission in general? Also, if I encountered the Rogue Army (the cut scene played) about 2-3 operations ago, how much more content do I have before early access content is exhausted. When did I encounter the Menace?
>>2397041Thanks, yeah I started buying since I saw weary and exhausted popping up
>>2397329How about you find it out for yourself? Like the rest of us?
Yo anons a few questions:What are good OCIs to go for? so far I'm early in the game got +1 intel, turrets and mebay. Are there any noob trap weapons to avoid so far all the rifles seem pretty useful. Also for veichles? So far used APC eith MGs and just got that bonus vs structures canon. Amy other general tips on what equipment/consumables to look out for?
>>2397384>got +1 intel, turrets and mebayand a WOO
>>2396875>Darby/Griefinger are already fast as fuckNo reason not to make them even better with athletic.>>2397384>Are there any noob trap weapons to avoidTier 1 smgs, crowbar mods, underbarrel grenade kpac. The rest are all ok.
>>2397384one silenced gun is a mustmore than one silenced gun is a wastesame thing with camo kit
>>2397401>, crowbar modsYou mean there are different versions of this that go in weapon slot or mods as in modifications that go in accessories, haven't seen any so far so that's why I'm asking.
>>2396736Yes.Mobile Infantry Squads don't really need it.Squads that are primarily going to be used on defense don't need it.
>>2397370I'd rather not. I just like to play chill
>>2397329I always have at least one vehicle. Two if the map is an open field and you have no cover.
>>2397329As many as I can deploy. I usually prefer someone to be manning the APC.
>>2396736but yeah even if its not a first pick for me, i usually pick it up even as a luxury perk. The only people I don't give it to are Tech since he gets around having to deploy for things, or lim because he's usually mounted so the movement cost is pointless, and run and gun and point fire are a better combo than anything that needs deployment, especially for mobile infantry. Darby also doesn't really need it since ideally her concealment negates any defensive bonuses, and she's already so accurate that she doesn't need the bonus from deploying usually, the movement cost is nice, but she's so speedy that you don't really need it if you're just aiming to keep up with the rest of the army.
>no dev diary todayits so over...
now this is an immersive decapitation strike
>>2397384Early game, particularly in Expert, you should fill up all your slots with Woos. Manpower can end a run if you dont fill it up.After that I replace the damaged med bay with an Advanced Repair Bay.Getting intel is important to identify turrets and vehicles that start near your deployment zone.Getting a bunch of laser turrets is generally considered best in slot. The kpac with a grenade launcher attachment is garbage. It's more expensive, but performs worse. The grenade launcher shoots a single grenade with -5 aim.Grab every night vision goggles that show up. Armour shredding ammo is great with high ROF weapons(smgs). Camo accessories are also nice. The pirate pipe guns are less supply than the default rifle. Useful for minmaxing special weapons teams.Pirate trucks with rocket organs are cheap and very effective.Suppressed weapons aren't a tag, but they do have an effect. Concealed units won't be revealed.
>>2397384so while there are some great OCI's, your dependence on which ones you actually do get is random to a degree. The most important one especially on higher difficulties is the WOO. its my purchase after my first operation and I'll take worse outcomes on post mission events if it'll drop me below the 70 oci needed for it.I think 1 or 2 woo can be huge early on. But I don't go as over board with prioritizing exwoo or what not if i have good armor and vehicles and i'm not taking much losses. Once you have a nice pool of 50-100 squadies in the late game it might be more beneficial to swap out WOO's for other better OCI's since squadies diminish in value once you have good armor and vehicles. Other good OCIsRepair bays (to keep vehicles in good health)Salvage teams (great way to earn money if fighting pirates and rogue army alot,)Fixers (the effect stacks, fixers help make all your loot more valuable, i think 2 is good if you get them early)Ai logistics, but only if you're going vehicle heavySupply cratelaser turretAP mine fieldsand minigun strafing runs are probably the best for on map abilities. others are situational. Though something to be said for 3 unguided missiles and just nuking something from orbit. Lastly I don't bother with sensor 1, i just save for sensor 2, and then I aim for 4-6 intelligence and maybe a utility option in the front.
>>2396736on pike, tech and vamplew i often take new tricks. athletics is really good on pike tho and he can work quite well with no real stat growth jean i always take scout on because that pretty much guarantees that she cant really be useless
>>2397006After 3d operation.>>23973841t module is exwoo. 2-5 is ai logistic. Most of t1 weapons with mods are overpriced. Kpac is shit. Shotgun better than other early guns at short range. You need to buy: cbar, shotgun, if need arc. You need to keep: pipe guns, outcasts rags, armor with jetppack. Also you want night vision, binoculares, ammo, camo trkinkets, jaeger's camos, silenced guns.
>>2397448The first one, there are different variants of the weapon. In the case of the crowbar they are more expensive to use while not doing much to justify it. The extra range variant is overkill, the crowbar's biggest weakness is already that it loses most of its damage at the range it's accurate. The short range carbine variant is straight trash for obvious reasons. And the suppressed variant adds nothing except some extra accuracy, not worth it.
>>2397911>except some extra accuracy
>>2389664
>>2397911Suppressors let you keep concealment after shooting, the suppressed Crowbar is one of the best things you can hand Darby.
>>2397701Grenade KPAC is decent to hand to a minimum-size special weapons team if they're lugging an ATGM or something else that can't deal with infantry. Definitely falls off versus stuff like lategame RA, though.
>>2397952>suppressed Crowbarits better at range than unsuppressed version, how?space magic
>>2397952Suppressed Crowbar is sort of a waste, Stealth Darky is stealthy enough to overcome most vision checks even with a regular crowbar due to sheer distance. Shooting a regular gun just removes your concealment bonuses, it doesn't make you MORE visible beyond that.So give her a silenced ARC or KPAC instead.
>>2397384I usually get a WOO or EX WOO, the med bay, and then either some hull shit or some armament.
>>2397477I said mobile infantry but I meant mounted infantry.
>>2398004I wish we got mobile infantry instead of marines
