Has anybody played the Field of Glory games? How do Empires and Kingdoms compare to Paradox games? How do II and Medieval compare to Total War?
>>2401253I tried Field of Glory II Medieval because it was free. It doesn't compare to Total War at all because they are completely different types of games.Field of Glory is tabletop wargaming on a PC while Total War is strategic worldmap + RTS combat. Personally I have fun playing wargames with my friend but I couldn't get into Field of Glory. I played through the tutorial battles but I still didn't fully understand how combat was resolved. You don't have units with varying model size it's all just one unit per tile which is more or less required for a video game but it's a downgrade compared to the real thing. It also needed more unit variety. Guy on horse and guy on foot are basically your options. Overall I found it pretty boring.
i only tried 2 and bounced off it, felt basic and lacked that certain something

I like it but I wish they tracked the missions and stuff you've completed like the older Battle Academy, Pike and Shot, and Sengoku Jidai games did. Slowly working through a list tickles my autism especially with so much content once you have all the dlc.
