>"anon play Sh2, it's the last good historical TW game"
>ok, play it
>play in low graphics to see if I actually like it and it's a fun game or it's just an illusion
>it's an illusion
>it's boring, the diplomacy sucks (Ikko-Ikki now are friends with everyone EVEN THE SHOGUNATE, despite being schizo-zealots)
>religion doesn't matter at all (it's just % idolatry; no gods, no roleplay, no gods' favors, etc.)
>morale sucks (samurai's honor where?)
>combat is boring and tedious because micromanagement, plus units don't obey or are bugged in sieges
>sieges are the worst, no matter how much you develop the city (another tedious boring crap), all cities are the same (walls that kill your morale and just some random building in the middle)
It feels TW players have to the most boring gamers ever, since anything "mehh..." seems awesome.
>"but but the mods... mur freedom than nuTW"
The game's core still the same ans it's boring af.

>Bishamonten is one of the Shinto-Buddhist Gods of War
>mentionated in the trailer
>*would him affect the campaign? how would you play it? what kind of relationship he would have with Jesus and his gunpowder?*
>nothing matters, it's a nothingburger
4X / grand strategy is the genre that looks infinitely cooler and fun to play in trailers than in actual gameplay.
>>
File: No minimalism for you.jpg (229 KB, 1366x768)

Also, you have to laugh at the irony of seeing the tech trees so "Zen minimalistic" yet the game can give you beautiful minimalist graphics for the low / medium graphics.
>>
File: AI not working.jpg (301 KB, 1366x768)

AI sucks, you can charge against an unit and the unit will not react.
And if you want to move an unit out of the combat, it will not obey.
>>
>christian faction lost city to Buddhist rebels I promote
>rebels take city
>0 improvement, still burning turns later
>still are rebels, not their own faction (Bungo; takes its name from th city they conquered)
>you can't do diplomacy with them, despite you "create" them
>the city still 100% christian (and burning) despite being owned by Buddhists several turns, yet they are happy
>>
File: Realm Divided.jpg (211 KB, 1366x768)
211 KB JPG
And the "Realm Divided" could be fun if it was an actual battle royale, not 1 vs all, despite you don't even own half of Japan, and you still have to fix the cities because you must waste time to not feel how boring the game really is.

Cursed thread

Are you a Mexican by any chance? I d like to use a derogatory slur aimed at your stupidity?
>>
>>2461852
It's going to be pretty funny when CA returns to "fix" this game again and ruin it even more.
>>
File: Shogun 1 graphics.jpg (289 KB, 1366x768)

Another fun thing is, Sh2 in low graphics it's like Sh1, yet people consider Sh2 the "perfect game" just because it looks good.
>>
Shogun 2
>the perfect TW game because all city battle maps are the same
The quality standards this days are sooo low.
Imagine if urban combat were great and fun to play, like in CoH, but adapted to the technology of the era the game is based on.
>>
>>2461823
>it's boring, the diplomacy sucks (Ikko-Ikki now are friends with everyone EVEN THE SHOGUNATE, despite being schizo-zealots)
they usually aren't, but you have 14 provinces and a direct threat to the survival of the Shogunate, because of your power
>religion doesn't matter at all (it's just % idolatry; no gods, no roleplay, no gods' favors, etc.)
You want an arcadey mechanic, where you can summon a buddhist army out of nowhere after filling up a "belief" bar or something? There are actual events, which are religious in nature. Also monks can convert other character, incite rebellions, convert and help with your research.
>morale sucks (samurai's honor where?)
It actually simulates real warfare, which is based on morale and not completely wiping out an enemy unit in a straight-up fight.
>combat is boring and tedious because micromanagement, plus units don't obey or are bugged in sieges
You don't need to micromanage units desu, at least not much.
There are only one or two siege maps, which are bugged, when it comes to large unit sizes and units not obeying and it's usually fixed by giving them an order with a different formation, where you aren't trying to get them perfectly into a tight space.

>>2461844
Just don't conquer everything like you are Oda Nobunaga. The game will actually give you a in-game mission from the Shogun himself, where he commands you to stop the rise of another clan. Diplomacy is actually realistic. If you are too powerful, you are literally threatening the stability of the entire Shogunate and they command everyone to declare war on you to stop it. It makes sense.
>>
The problem with Realm Divide is that it is trying to simulate two entirely separate events.
First is the fall of the Ashikaga Shogunate, when Oda Nobunaga bumrushed the capital like he was speedrunning real life. This aggro'd many other daimiyo against Nobunaga.
But the 'real' realm divide happened much later, under Tokugawa, when a power struggle led to the Battle of Sekigahara and Tokugawa's ultimate victory.
By conflating the first with the second, you end up with a situation where you've grown to large (like Nobunaga) so everyone is against you (like Tokugawa).
>>
>>2462071
Everyone wasn't against Tokugawa though. He had a large collation with him because he was competent, the Toyotomi heir was a child, and the leading man of the anti-Tokugawa coalition was widely despised.

Realm Divide mimics the anti-Oda coalitions pretty well, except for one fatal flaw: The Tokugawa never betrayed the Oda IRL, but they surely would in Shogun 2. The solution is to reduce the penalty for allies, reduce it for clans you have a marriage with, and double it if you have both. Ideally you would need both to keep an ally through RD, but just a regular alliance would buy you a lot of time.

Anyway, OP sounds like a retard.
>>
Shogun 2 has 2 selling points:
1. The battles which are the best in the franchise. Fall of the Samurai has the best gunpowder battles in the entire franchise too.
2. Cav can dismount and fight on foot. This is probably the lost technology that I wish for the most to come back because horses don't do shit against castle walls.
>>
>>2461823
Protip: those "good" TW games are just the ones that had decent launches that weren't bugged to fuck. So people remember them as being "good". Hence why Attila is remembered as being a "good" TW game even though it's a reskin of Rome 2 which is a "bad" TW game because it had a horrendous launch. Though not as bad a launch as Empire, another "bad" TW game.
>>
>>2462068
>Sh2 is a TW game
>the selling point is the massive battles
>they are actually boring and tedious
>and the battles are in the middle of an even more boring and tedious campaign map
Anon, at this point someone will have to crack the source code so mods can be truly overhaul.

>>2462083
Where am I wrong, anon?
>>
>>2462117
>Fall of the Samurai has the best gunpowder battles in the entire franchise too.
Now it's a Saga, it's separated from Sh2. So that selling point is over.

>Cav can dismount
Indeed, like in R2, not a big deal either.
>>
>>2462183
Good to know I'm not the only one. If Sh2 is the best TW of all times (I see thousands of comments calling it the "perfect [TW] game"), then this franchise is joever.

Again, what is the point of having a franchise of games which is KEY point is the massive battles and painting the campaign map if most of its players just autoresolve and not finish the campaigns (just check the % of achievements of the games or all the forum threads that comment how they can't finish the campaign out of boredom).
>>
>>2462202
>If Sh2 is the best TW of all times (I see thousands of comments calling it the "perfect [TW] game"), then this franchise is joever.
TW has always been extremly mediocre at best
people only remember it because they played it when they were 12
>>
>>2462202
You should try mods. I agree with >>2462207. Rome 1 is like a kid's game to me nowadays, I loved it as a kid but I would never want to play it again. Rome 2 is a bit better imo but it has its own shortcomings. Rome 2 with Divide Et Impera mod is my current favorite TW game. I recommend you play that instead of Shogun 2 if you want something with depth and challenge.

Shogun 2 was the end of that awkward engine transition phase along with Empire and Napoopan where they made the campaign extremely simplistic. There aren't even any city battle maps as you noted, I actually forgot about that because I haven't played it in years. It's just the nature of TW games from this period where they tried to simplify and streamline everything.
>>
>>2462212
I already tried DEI, I still didn't enjoy the game, it sounds schizo because I checked the reviews of the mod and the peoole that enjoy it make me feel like we have played totally different mods and games.
>>
i like shogun 2
it was the last total war i liked
>>
>>2461823
Real reason it’s good is because a small arr rook da same roster allows the AI to actually play the game.
>>
>>2462202
TW was never a good franchise, but SH2+FotS is the peak of this pile of shit and mediocrity.

Fall of the Samurai got removes from the game and became a "Saga", so the only good thing of this game is no longer in it.

He is not a tremendously jaded faggot. A rare breed on this site these days.
>>
>>2461823
You need to install mods to bring new units and sometimes it doesn't even change the game, because it's too simple, even the map sucks. Once you install mods like "Total FotS Series" which is a really ambitious mod the game still sucks, the ai still sucks and nothing really change because it's still too arcade but with more uniforms. The last hope, for me, is grand tactician napoleonic wars
>>
>>2461823
Wasn't Shimazu katana samurai spam the optimal composition of the army in Shogun 2?
>>
>>2464760
That loses to Tokugawa Mounted Gunners spam.

The art design is the best. UI unfortunately not scaleable, can't play in 4k..
The AI is as shit as any other TW, requires Darth Mod.
Doomstacks spawning out of nothing make the game feel cheesy and strategy worthless.
I wish they would finally make use of bleeding edge "AI" to replace cheating.
The warscape engine sucks. Archers no longer gain range bonus from elevations. WTF were they thinking?
Still enjoy the game with the help of some custom modding.

Nobunagas ambition is a fantasty game retard. The battles have less than 1000 soldiers and the charichters look like this
>>
>>2465844
Its true that its not very realistic, bit i feel like it really captured the spirit of the people from that time
>>
>>2465836
Sword of the Samurai (1989), hohoho. No, I haven't played it. But going all the way from a samurai all the way to a daimyo vying for power beyond even that sounds very ambitious for a game made in 2026, let alone 1989.
>>
wtf is this thread lmao
>>
>>2465562
>The art design is the best.
TRVKE. I never said the opposite, imagine if the rest of the game, its graphics were like the art.

>Darth Mod
Is it really good? Do you recommend other mods?
>>
>>2465857
Darthmod is a must
Maybe some of the historical reskin mods too
>>
>>2465857
"41 units per army" is also good

Ah, an Ethiopian Jew then.
Ethiopia, or GAY FAGGOTOPIA as we like to call it, is a gay country for nigger faggots such as yourself with their faggy little dam on the Nile river.
Amhara are the biggest faggots ever to suck a dick and the Oromo bottoms are their designated fag enablers.
Isaias Afwerki and based dictatorship, not Abiy Ahmed and his cringe and fake piss prize, okay.

Capturing the feel of the period is almost always better than historical autism because it doesn't lead to good gameplay
>>
>>2464760
I would be surprised as so, since I refuse to ever play efficiently beyond the unit types I favor. I always liked pushing up slowly and building massive stacks of katana samurai and Shimazu heroes to hide in forests and kill armies that wandered into their hiding spot.
