Remember the fiasco that was R1 remaster in 2021? Well, get ready for its 2026 sequel: Shogun 2.
>"The Complete Edition implies that for 15 years CA has been selling us an incomplete game."
Shogun 2's Steam page and Workshop have suffered a Carthago Delenda Est. Forget about the Empire 2 and LotR overhaul mods.
Meanwhile the gaming news media is simping for the "playable 50 MINOR factions [that were already in the game]" when in the now death Workshop you have entire mods that added even more factions (like China, Korea, Mongolia) and provinces.

shogon 2 doesn't need remastering though

Ok not going to buy the game wasn't planning on it the game still looks good and plays good why on earth are they remastering it? Just to raise the price of the game?

Volound, Complete Edition, to mean one that contains all expansions/DLC has been used since forever.

Well, I guess Volound is feeling the same desperation that haunted Cassandra of Troy and any other "prophet", ancient or modern.

How is modern TW gameplay worse than old ones? I remember playing M2 and it was fucking boring. Takes forever to train troops, you do two battles in which you do hammer and anvil, and you win the game.
>>
>>2491646
>How is modern TW gameplay worse than old ones?
You don't do any battles you just auto-resolve every single one or you suffer the consequences. The reason why you auto every single time is because it's risk-free, guaranteed to wipe out the entire enemy army, replenish over the end-turn and keep pushing.
If you do take it to manual battle you'll find that you can't even do hammer & anvil. Every modern TW are stat-checks through & through. You either out-stat your enemy and win (but then you just should have auto-resolve'd anyway) or they out-stat you and lose.
The games have campaign map issues too. They have this Paradox-game thing where the faction takes into account your faction's entire army strength when deciding whether to declare war or not so they're extremely cowardly when they really shouldn't be (e.g. barbarians rampaging in Roman lands).
If they muster the courage to find themselves at war with you their armies are going to be even more cowardly. They will avoid your armies like the fucking plague and pretty much only target your undefended settlements while force marching away from anything that can fight them.

Yeah and it was kino.
You wouldnt get it. Also with the mods the old titles mog the newer ones hard.

Why is Rome Remastered a fiasco? It looks like a good remaster to me, just an updated to modern systems game.
Why would Shogun 2 complete be a disaster? It looks like just an updated old game with some bonus stuff, a complete package.
>>
>>2490930
Oh my god, have you thought about investors and their feelings? You cold hearted freak, they can’t even buy new yachts for themselves nowadays
>>
>>2491962
Rome remaster was garbage like carthage.
They just HAD to change the UI for no reason.
>>
>>2491973
I haven't played it yet, but didn't they change the UI so it would fit the widescreens? Becaus eplaying the OG with stretched UI taking half the screen is pain.
>>
>>2490925
>Remember the fiasco that was R1 remaster in 2021
You mean the cheap, optional, superior version of the game? Yes
>Shogun 2's Steam page and Workshop have suffered a Carthago Delenda Est. Forget about the Empire 2 and LotR overhaul mods.
Uhh...How? They didn't change default Shogun 2 so why would it change anything? Mods still work and you're literally lying. Do you think modders are beyond porting their work into what is essentially the same game engine?

But by all means, keep doom posting over an objective upgrade for $10 that adds new features and is going to revitalize the most unique multiplayer in TW history because we always have to be contrarian on these boards
>>
>>2491987
There is an issue with most of Shogun 2's modding community being retired.
>>
>>2491990
Why not update their mods to the new version?
>>
>>2491992
Because "retired" means "does not do that no more".
>>
>R1 remaster was in 2021

>>
>>2491987
just like all the other remasters!
>>

>optional, superior version of the game
I tried the Rome remaster out of nostalgia and it felt like complete dogshit. I refunded it. Something just wasn’t right with it. I absolutely wouldn’t refer to it as superior or an “objective improvement”
>>
>>2491987
$10 for a month, btw, assuming you have the game
>>
>>2490925
"complete edition" actually means that this pack for the game comes with everything since shogun 2 was separated in various DLC.
>>
>>2492188
Okay but have you tried the original to make sure your taste hasn't changed? It's possible you just don't like Rome 1 in general at this point in your life.

You can not like something while it's still an improvement over something else, I wouldn't want to live in leninist Russia but it was an improvement over tsarist Russia.

The R1 remaster was a fiasco because few months after its released, a modder did for free a better remaster (some considered it a remake because added even more new mechanics), so it hurted the sells CA expected from it. That's why CA wants to close as soon as possible Sh2's Workshop, before someone realise a better FREE remaster.
>>
>>2492638
You still have to pay for the blood DLC. There is nothing truly free and good with CA.
>>
>>2490925

The first mistake was thinking there were 'historical TW fans', when people stuck with them through bugs and ahistorical stuff, and even looked forwards to Warhammer because they didn't know the game mechanics had been gutted and would be further gutted. Talkiing about 'historical vs fantasy' avoids addressing stripped features and dumbing-down.

“Historical TW fan” here

Lol just saw it today. I have low(no) effort "remaster" fatigue. If you are not gonna give a shit just make it 64 bit and updated controls, for free! Would be a nice little win for them but nooooo they just absolutely had to make it worse.
>>
>>2491987
lmao
>>
>>2490925
what is surprising to me is the outsourcing the remaster to have an upscaling in 4k od textures, UI and shit like that. no one cared, so it doesn't make sense.
the only thing that could made worth while the money put down is the chinese and jap localization, to sell sh2 like a new game for those markets, but maybe china could be into it, maybe since it's japan, but in the emperor's land? the jap don't play pc games, strategy games even less, so I don't even know who is this for, maybe some get alpha who only played warhammer?
>>
It's officially over for the demastered edition.
>removed FMVs due to flash depreciation, replaced with garbage "authentic" remakes
>no bugs will be fixed, "to maintain the vanilla experience"
>polish dev team confused by the existence of mods, probably explains why all mods were killed
>act like making a literally who island faction is a great accomplishment, despite that being easily moddable
That will be 70 dollars plus tip.
>>
>>2496748
I don't think the upscaled shit even looks that substantially different. Am I just a blind boomer, I even played the OG S2 recently so it's not that I just imagine how it looked 10 years ago. Also the game works just fine now, the only bit annoying issue is lack of borderless. It doesn't really need much of a technical change and they could have just added that as a patch.
>could made worth while the money put down is the chinese and jap localization
My reaction to that was
>didn't the units already speak japanese, what is even there to localise
They had to rerecord the advisor and diplo screen quips I guess? Also it's a strategy game with relatively simple mechanics and not even much in the way of ability descriptions and obviously no story/dialogue. There's just not that much text in the game total. The big selling point is that now it says "castle" in moonrunes under that little picture of a castle in province view? That's the $40?
>>
excuse me, whats this shit??

https://youtu.be/5a2fYUnRm-0

2x 80+ units on the battlefield?? now thats kino
>>
>>2497145
This looks like an absolute mess, but back in the day this is what we thought the evolution of Total War would be. Bigger armies, better animations, better strategy and tactics options, better diplomacy and politic systems, etc.
