VARANGIANS FOR ALL

Prev >>2482311

Why the hell did they make the gurjara camel rider better than the hindustani imperial camel rider?
>>
>>2492795
who cares
>>
>>2492800
Obviously I do, retard. Imagine a cav civ having a paladin that is weaker than another's civ cavalier.
>>
Is it worth playing these games for the campaigns?
>>
>>2492784
Haven't touched II in a long while, what the hell is that muscle icon in the Saxons' varangian guard? And why the... double varangian has a charge bar?
>>
>>2492807
>And why the... double varangian has a charge bar?
Unique tech let's them throw axes before engaging in melee
>>
>>2492807
Saxon infantry get armor bonuses depending upon how many nearby infantry there are. That arm shows how many are nearby for that aura
>>
>>2492804
Most people only play SP so I would say yes. From what I've played they are pretty fun, but not quite as good as something like WC3. You do get a lot more content though. I've only really played age2 the past couple of years but from what I remember the other games are solid as well.
>>
>>2492820
Most people play SP? Anons, what are you doing playing by yourselves, you enjoy the AI?

the unit that is supposed to utilize it's ranged attack and has high pierce armor loses to the unit that excels at melee combat??
>>
>>2492830
I have been and continue to be outraged about it since the moment they added them. Cysion is a faggot who desperately wants this game to be AoE4, an arrogant shit who's assmad people like the original Ensemble devs more than the slop he churns out, so he goes out of his way to make the most retarded design decisions possible and trying to force the game to be "his"
>>
>>2492821
I feel like a lot of those people are just older and looking for a nostalgia fix. The rest is probably just turned of by the amount of time played it takes to not get stomped at the starting elo in online. If you're new to online the game can feel kind of stressfull and overwhelming. Also not everyone is willing to watch 2 hours of tutorials and practice for even longer before jumping into online.

It's a shame because the MP is definitely the best part about the game
>>
>>2492821
>Anons, what are you doing playing by yourselves, you enjoy the AI?
Yes? Unironically. I stage historical battles and scenarios and enjoy myself. I can save and load the game at any time if I feel like it too

Absolutely
Some are more detailed or immersive than others, but there's pretty much something to dig into if you're interested in world medieval history (unless its east asia)
Compstomping can be comfy while the Chronicles campaigns up the character and intensity
>>
>>2492942
Why would WASD not be superior to mouse scrolling? You can give orders while moving the camera.

>>
Should Anarchy be researched in castle age?
>>
>>2492973
using wasd to control the camera is slow and inefficient. if you need to move the screen a big distance in a hurry you either use a control group hotkey or click the minimap. if you only need to move the screen a little then you are probably microing and you want your left hand to be doing important hotkey stuff, not wasting actions adjusting the camera.
>>
>>2492880
Hindustanis/Persians Caravanserai have an aura that Heals Trade Carts by 1 HP/s and Increases movement speed by 20%
Poles Folwarks have an aura that automatically collects and deposits 10% of maximum food from Farms placed around it
Celts Castles(after Stronghold) have an aura that heals units in within 7 squares by 0.5 HP/s
Romans Centurions have an aura that increases movement speed of the militia line by 10%/15% and Attack speed by 20%
Georgians Fortified Churches have an aura that increases villager work rate by 10%
Georgians Monaspas and Knights have an aura that increases Monaspa attack
Saracens Monks(after Bimaristan) have an healing aura(excluding siege units) that heals units by 1.25 HP/s
Muisca Settlements have an healing aura that heals units by 0.25 HP/s
three kingdoms civs all have heroes with auras because Cysion is a mega ass faggot who made a dogshit DLC
>>
>>2492784
The Viking Varangian Guards also get +5 attack against cavalry.

>more new shit for the already bloated game to figure out
I love DLCs! My favorite part of videogames is doing homework!!!
>>
I am beginning to realize the worst part of multiplayer is when the game goes over the 1 hour mark and players are heavily entrenched. In SC all minerals would've ran out and people would be playing for max unit efficiency with what little they have left, but this game just keeps going forever as long as there's wood on the map.

Is there some all-in strat I could attempt shortly before the game reaches this state? Especially in team games. It's not as common in 1v1 since you can't trade for gold, although it still happens.

>>
>>2493347
>Min's cult began and was centered around Coptos (Koptos, modern day Qift) and Akhmim (Panopolis) of Upper Egypt, where in his honour great festivals were held celebrating his "coming forth"
>One feature of Min worship was the wild prickly lettuce Lactuca serriola – the domestic version of which is Lactuca sativa (lettuce) – which has aphrodisiac and opiate qualities and produces latex when cut, possibly identified with semen.
>Egyptian lettuce was tall, straight, and released a milk-like sap when rubbed, characteristics superficially similar to the penis. Lettuce was sacrificially offered to the god, then eaten by men in an effort to achieve potency.
>Egyptian women would touch the penises of statues of Min in hopes of pregnancy, a practice still continued today.
>There have been controversial suggestions, by authors such as British journalist Jonathan Margolis, that the pharaoh was expected to demonstrate, as part of a Min festival, that he could ejaculate—and thus ensure the annual flooding of the Nile.

>people shocked how good Varangians are early
If you played Dacians in Chronicles, you knew what was about to happen.
The issue is maintaining that gold income without hunting. I actually haven't tried fish traps yet, but you do get issues when you're forced to play defense. It's an aggressive civ.

How is the knight trample damage?
I remember trample being OP in AoE1.
>>
>>2493308
Well we warned them III was never gonna be successful.

>>2493321
Fuck, that means they're gonna force enshittify it.
>>
>>2493334
Have you played RoR with UI mods?
>Cataphacts turned into legions in the UI
>Legions turned into monks, which don't exist in AoE1
You can't use mods on it.

The game is notoriously buggy to mod before taking into account DRM they tried to force into DLC content.
>>
>>2493327

They should have tried harder to avoid antiquity warfare ay. It's a totally different beast ay.
No proper ballistas for starters after antiquity. They were noticeably shitter after rome because of expense required.

Man they really could have just made Chronicles and AoE1 spinoff. ngl. I prefer that period of warfare. Medieval, pre-high middle ages is interesting, but after that it's just early modern warfare and I just start treating it like modern warfare with tactics.

Although I did that with ballistas too in AoE1. You just bombarded them with ballistas.

So, varangians actually fuck this game up completely.
