why are you guys so in favor of "this week in history"?is it really just trolling?

that's the whole point of this day in history, it gives a fuller cross section with the less relevant events people might not have known aboutthat and the fact that it's a /gsg/ tradition since the creation of /vg/. was that 2013? i don't even remember

why is spain so overpowered in every single gsg?
spain was overpowered in real life
then why did she lose to holland?
I remembered to keep the second science ship from an anomaly, the one where its all souped up with psionic shields and a jump drive.I then jumped it right into a marauder sector :sigh:
I have a confession to make: I don't like nomadic gameplay.I was quite hyped for it, I really enjoy adventurer mode in CK3 for example, but I just can't seem to get into nomads. Which is such a shame, but I feel like the gameplay is just clunky. I'm quite disappointed honestly, more disappointed than I was in Cosmic Storms. I never had super high expectations for the latter, but I was hyped for Nomads.
marauder sector (caribbean)
I enjoy playing nomads but I completely agree that it is clunky, for example the automation and the ships taking up so much space in the outliner but other things as well.
I'm not terribly interested in playing as a theocracy, but I am very excited for proper reformation mechanics
personally, i'm waiting for 3 months after s&s so all of the bugs can be ironed out and the new economy will be more balanced, to finally start my first AUH game

it is supposed to be plausible deniability, the diplomatic termbut "plausibly deniable" sounds fine to me. an adverb can absolutely modify and adjective
like a big eastern european neapolitan ice creammalibro can you czech if bohemia is allied to poland?
i see what you did there you czechy little gremlin
>sounds retarded, isn't it supposed to be plausible deniability?esl can't handle the phrase not appearing the exact way he learned it?CIA first used the phrase "plausibly disclaim" in 1948. >>2496634They're one of the historic final bosses who collapsed for seemingly no reason and the only way to replicate their decline would be to ask someone who doesn't know how to play to take over the winning country.Ironically there's no GSG that replicates their takeover of New Spain so they do require incredible unit buffs just to conquer half as much as Spain historically did.
you do make good points and kaiserreich: totaler krieg is a good game but don't reply to me ever againand honestly in eu4 i've seen all sorts of different nations take over mexico, including portugal which really doesn't have anything special going in terms of army strength
he prolly meant that irl spain conquered mexico with only 500 men
yes, i knowwhat i'm saying is that in the game you don't need super special military bonuses to conquer mejicoof course at the same time paradox games have a terrible flaw of making every single war a total war, so in-game spain will invade mexico with as many troops as their transport fleets allow
>+10% infantry combat ability and +1 artillery fire>nothing special
In eu4 its usually whoever declares war on a mexican and actually ferries troops over first. Quality bonuses mean nothing conpared to tech difference and eu4 ai is too scared to engage even at 5-1 army ratio
^ bro got this information straight out of his ahh
nah bro trust. to clarify what i mean you could have 10k castilians sieging down an inland fort with no other provinces sieged and 44k natives grouped up from different armies. Logically ai should use defensive bonus and overwhelming numbers to try to win the battle allowing a stackwipe but instead theyll just sit and wait for the siege to end/to be peaced out for some reason
allowing a shattered retreat to the coast/previously moved province and then a stackwipe*
got half a mind to do a vic3 ottoman runi remember doing it all the way back in release and just altf4ing after making a gross ottomaniums that blobbed like a retard and btfowned russia by 1880

>>2496908It's harder now, but I don't really see why anyone uses difficulty as an argument in assessing paradox games, since none of them are hard anyway.>>2496961You forgot to add "make no mistakes"!

I'm looking forward to founding a republic- I hope they put some gameplay in for being a merchant at a fairly low level. It could be a good route from adventurer to landed gameplay.

>I'm looking forward to founding a republic- I hope they put some gameplay in for being a merchant at a fairly low level. It could be a good route from adventurer to landed gameplay. If they don't I'll create a mod like my adventure mod that will let you just turn into a wandering merchant whenever you want.
>>2497028>I'm looking forward to founding a republic- I hope they put some gameplay in for being a merchant at a fairly low level. It could be a good route from adventurer to landed gameplay. Yes, it seems like it's very easy to go from merchant to patrician and vice versa:>Importantly, since they share the same Domicile type, they can transition seamlessly from one government to the other, without losing any progress or converting their Domicile into something else. We very much wanted to ensure that a Merchant has the option to fluidly and naturally join a Republic without suffering adverse effects for doing so. And, indeed, the opposite path is also valid: if you should grow tired of your Republic, you can choose to leave it and embark on the path of a Merchant instead, and your hard-won assets and upgrades will go with you.Keeping your domicile whether you're a merchant or patrician is great. There are all kinds of cool things you can do. If your republic is about to be conquered by the Mongols or something, you can just pack up and go wandering, building up your domicile, and then settle in another republic with all your domicile upgrades intact, making it easier to climb the ladder to become a powerful patrician.
This is going to be completely sick as hell
I've been so excited for playable merchants and republics in CK3 for literally years. We'll just have to get through that theocracy stuff first.
yeah, theocracy is whatever, but reformations, rites, schism, monastic orders, spiritual fullfillment, dynamic holy sites, college of cardinals and puppets, those are all welcome changes and I might finally be interested to play as... you know, crusader king. and I assume other faiths will be also affected to some extent and will become more interesting to interact with
I'd also like to see a theocratic republic as an option, like Calvin's Geneva and it's imitators in the Netherlands, Scotland, English Puritanism, and New England. Or maybe a long lasting Savonarola-inspired movment ruling in an Italian city state for a while. Venice was very concerned about resisting clerical control, so it's unlikely to be relevant there.
Agreed, Christian Europe will hopefully be a lot more interesting to play in as feudal, I don't really have much interest in playing as a theocracy. I'll probably buzz through it a few times for the inevitable cheevos. And while I wasn't really that fussed either way about Republics the playstyle seems like how I play feudal most of the time anyway so maybe I will enjoy it more than I thought.
I was going to start my first landless adventurer run in a total conversion mod for CK3, before i start it up is going Scholar any fun? If so, any general tips and tricks? I was thinking of starting as a scholar for an unreformed faith with the long term goal of eventually reforming it, so that'll probably also meaning gathering an army at some point.
>>2497049>I was going to start my first landless adventurer run in a total conversion mod for CK3, before i start it up is going Scholar any fun? If so, any general tips and tricks? I was thinking of starting as a scholar for an unreformed faith with the long term goal of eventually reforming it, so that'll probably also meaning gathering an army at some point.scholar is one of the most slept on way to play landlessto reform the faith you’ll eventually have to get landed iirc because you need to control holy sites to unlock the optionits been a while but in p sure you can still convert so it might be best to reform the religion how you want it asap then go landless and that way you can convert tons of pplscholars get perks that make different religions and cultures hate you less which is kind of a huge deal imo. also your troops will counter enemies in battle betteryou can dip into wayfarer and strategist to stack even more of those same bonuses its insanely op lol
You get a decision called "The Travels of (yournamehere)" that if you visit enough points of interest will give you one of the strongest artifacts in the game - a journal that gets +40% lifestyle experience. I don't think it's unique to scholars but it's easy for them to pick up since you'll be traveling around so much to do contracts.I never stay landless long but starting off like that is a huge boost for your dynasty.
>I was going to start my first landless adventurer run in a total conversion mod for CK3, before i start it up is going Scholar any fun? If so, any general tips and tricks? I was thinking of starting as a scholar for an unreformed faith with the long term goal of eventually reforming it, so that'll probably also meaning gathering an army at some point.I think all adventurers play similarly, scholar will take learning or stewardship contracts while others will take different contracts. Landless characters can't reform unreformed faiths, if you want to spread your new faith, you can modify already reformed faiths as an adventurer and then you can convert counties through camp priest, which is not locked behind camp purpose, but it synergies well with scholar purpose. This way you can quickly convert counties before you take them as an adventurer.
There is a set of decisions around more aggressively proselytizing for adventurers in the base game, at least. The Ascension decision allows you to essentially start converting people at the point of a sword. It's very finicky to get to click on, of course, and to actually convert counties you need to have pretty beefy stats for the skill checks in the events.
yeah that is the fastest way to repaint the mapotherwise the opinion modifiers matter because they will not even come close considering it if they view you as evil. not only will they hate you by default because of your religion but being an eccentric sexual deviant and whatever else you find virtuous will clash on top of thati’ve found messing around with cultures and religions pretty fun compared to just expanding a regular empire but iirc the proselytizing locals is mainly just to farm peity as you travel im pretty sure all those npcs technically register as dead as soon as youre out of the areaalso that book that was mentioned earlier rules and you can pass it down through your family for hundreds of years along with the swan armor just please loving rename it something cool like Mithril Codpiece

The Ascension decision allows you to essentially start converting people at the point of a sword. It's very finicky to get to click on, of course, and to actually convert counties you need to have pretty beefy stats for the skill checks in the events.Yeah, I took the ascended decision but I don't see how to convert people other than converting individuals. It is also very frustrating that you can't convert anyone who is a soldier. The mod leaves a bit of a free for all in the region I'm play, so it's pretty likely any ruler will count as a soldier at any point. So in one life time, I've gathered a pretty quick array of artifacts which is pretty cool. But I can't figure out how to effectively proselytise, I don't know if this is maybe a result of being an unreformed region surrounded by organised religions.
Hate when a war I wasn't watching ends and I can't see the reason it ended the way it did. I have a China Grand Campaign targeting a kingdom in India, but for some reason the war ended without territory changing hand, and its only been about a year. Looking at who pledged the Mandatory contribution (which seems to always have to be your Grand Marshal), the house that did is no longer the person that holds the position, and looking at the history of The Commission title, he "disappeared without a trace" about a year into the war. This is probably why it ended, though that's really annoying, because I'm pretty sure now the Grand Campaign is guaranteed to be stuck until it reaches the deadline and times out, 24 years from now.
hearing that reminded me but it really sucks that you can't get the full turkic conqueror experience in any gameeven if you play nomads in ck2 or ck3 it's just you raping a single say indian kingdom and settling, switching to a shittier government, and then raping the rest but slowerit's not interesting at all
