If you see a gibberish post, it was made by raiders, ignore it.

No, Vic 3 is not good yet. In fact it never will be. Neither will EU5.

How fares your empire, /gsg/?

On this day in history, the 11th of September:
9 – The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest ends: The Roman Empire suffers the greatest defeat of its history and the Rhine is established as the border between the Empire and the so-called barbarians for the next four hundred years.
1185 – Isaac II Angelos kills Stephen Hagiochristophorites and then appeals to the people, resulting in the revolt that deposes Andronikos I Komnenos and places Isaac on the throne of the Byzantine Empire.
1297 – Battle of Stirling Bridge: Scots jointly led by William Wallace and Andrew Moray defeat the English.
1708 – Charles XII of Sweden stops his march to conquer Moscow outside Smolensk, marking the turning point in the Great Northern War. The army is defeated nine months later in the Battle of Poltava, and the Swedish Empire ceases to be a major power.
2001 – Nineteen members of al-Qaeda execute the September 11 attacks, a series of coordinated terrorist attacks that killed 2,977 people using four hijacked aircraft. Two aircraft crash into the World Trade Center in New York City, a third crashes into The Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, and a fourth into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Good OP but id say it's missing a few events

1980 – A new constitution of Chile is established under the influence of then Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, which is subject to controversy in Chile today.
1982 – The international forces that were guaranteeing the safety of Palestinian refugees following Israel's 1982 Invasion of Lebanon leave Beirut. Five days later, several thousand refugees are massacred

Steam just approved my store page for a historical 4X strategy game I made to scratch that late '90s itch. Teutoburg is right there in the press kit.

One of the hooks for Embersong is that in addition to each empire having it's own era-appropriate unique unit, everyone gets a "future-era unit" during the end game. For the Romans, they decapitate trained eagles and cyberneticaly fuse the heads to giant mechanized bodies, creating an unstoppable eagle death robot, the Aquila Automata.

weird because i'm a regular here and don't remember such a guy
>>
>orthodoxy
>clergy cannot marry

thats because the clergy you interact within the game with are supposed to be the higherups and in the orthodox church while priests are allowed to BE married, they aren't allowed to MARRY as in, get a wife after being ordained
not only that but since they're high up enough to talk to the king, they are presumed to have been either widowed or never married, since those are the only priests that are allowed to advance past the parish priest stage (and even in the case of widowers, they need to take special vows to compensate)
this is because in the bible being single (and celibate) is seen as ideal and being married as a lesser evil and a stopgap measure to stop those with low self control from sinning even further, see: 1 Corinthians 7
the roman catholic church at one point decided that it will hold up their priests to the highest standard, though not really since they do allow "eastern rite" churches to still do what they do just as long as they bow down to the guy in rome, and let's be real there is a near total lack of enforcement when it comes to having a lover outside of marriage in the regular church anyway

>>
imagine the world where henry the 8th asked the patriarch of constantinople for a divorce...
>>
okay well i honestly wanted to leave it at the remark being funny but my main point was that the schism here has very little resemblence to the protestant reformation
the protestant were openly and proudly breaking away from ("protesting") the catholic church (with anglicans claiming to be the inheritors and true continuation of the church but w/e we're talking about lutherans and what have you now)
meanwhile the division between the eastern orthodox and roman catholic bishops happened without any declaration, along geographic lines, slowly over a large amount of time, all due to which bishop the local leader pled loyalty to. the average parishioner didn't even know there was any kind of schism, everyday practices continued as normal with no announcement or anything of the sort. if a catholic priest gets stranded on an island along with 10 parishioners, are they starting a new church because they're out of contact with the vatican?
meanwhile, when a church went lutheran it was openly declared with major and minor changes blatantly obvious
>>
okay
now, that textwall, i actually did read
>>
>imagine the world where henry the 8th asked the patriarch of constantinople for a divorce...

Paul blatantly states that being single (and celibate) is preferrable to marriage
>But I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another.
>So I say to those who aren’t married and to widows—it’s better to stay unmarried, just as I am. But if they can’t control themselves, they should go ahead and marry. It’s better to marry than to burn with lust.

no, your tone implied indifference, where as what paul was talking about is more akin to "you shouldn't do drugs, but if you do then at least you should read up on them so you don't overdose", it's still a condemnation. being single is the only thing there that's seen as "good", being married is seen as a lesser evil, a compromise, not "cool"

Close translation (from AI)
1 Now concerning the things about which you wrote: it is good for a man not to touch a woman.

2 But because of sexual immoralities, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.

3 Let the husband give to his wife what is owed, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

4 The wife does not exercise authority over her own body, but the husband does; likewise also, the husband does not exercise authority over his own body, but the wife does.

5 Do not deprive one another—unless perhaps by mutual agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer—and then be together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

By all means continue to ruin another online message board with your presence, it only radicalizes us further. The worst you can do is spill a few more grains of sand from the hourglass that represents the limited time you have left with your family before God blesses the middle east with split atoms.

6 But I say this as a concession, not as a command.

7 Now I wish all people to be as I myself am; but each has his own gift from God—one in this way and another in that way.

8 Now I say to the unmarried and to the widows: it is good for them if they remain as I also am.

9 But if they are not exercising self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn.

The poll is clear, unsure of what to do about the "CB" question but I think i've come up with a solution: i'll see how long fabricating a real CB will take and if it takes too long, I'll use the tributary one. Who knows, maybe it'll let me make a tributary out of norway? that would be something.

Until then, there is a more pressing matter: what agenda should be chosen for the next parliment? Vote in the next fan poll, I think we've made enough progress for now. See you next week!
>>
>what agenda should be chosen for the next parliament?

Yet the Holy Bible says that chuds like you and I should first take the sword to the enemies of God.
Let whichever of us survives come back and marry and sin to our heart's content. To sin is to be human. A marriage is a sacred union, the binding of two souls together, it is not a sacrament you perform out of pure ritual of just doing the thing but so that you can bring life into the world without feeling a sinful barbarian as you do so. Women create- Men destroy. (Or at least they are intended to, todays women don't create a damned thing.) When you marry to create a child you are becoming something new, you become a creator. Women who are married are known to be capable of feats of destructive strength to save their children in harms way, and in that way they also become something new, the Alpha and the Omega, as you do.
The Catholic Church does not allow marriage because their Priests are SUPPOSED to dedicate their entire life to destroying the enemies of God by doctrine.
>>

this is an act of prohibition which was never implied in the bible to be an act of prohibition
it's not measured, instead it is extreme and therefore unnecessary
there was nothing of this in the old testament among the jews but then you see god taking the form of a man, and maybe as a result, he never has any woman, and so you throw sex and marriage out the window
same with paul/saul who wasn't even a christian in the beginning, who never condemned marriage but also just happened to not have any attraction to women (maybe he was born asexual or struggled to fight with faggot thoughts, it's very debatable which one)

okay just kidding, i picked the noble backed agenda simply because that's the only one that has a real chance of passing.
The war plan, as per the poll, was a compromise between the moderate jingoism of "just invade with whatever" and the less than moderate "get a blobbing CB first and enact total coalition death" sides. And like every compromise, it doesn't leave anyone (me) satisfied. While we're waiting for the lithuanian CB (pictured, the wheel barely moves and you can't check when it will end in any menu), Scotland joined the coalition. This is the final straw, the compromise has failed.
Robert de Bruce has either sacrificed his nation all together, or changed the future of eastern europe. With Scotland in, nobody can be sure if France will join the war or not. This leaves two options, attack now before that's cerain (?) or... just let go. If anything is certain, it's that we're not beating France right now.

But there's also good news, the nobility has been placated by the parliment, making the insurgency actually tick down, not up. That's something. And uhhh... yeah, what do, but actually asking this time? Will france join?

>why are you giving v novgorod a guarantee
i'm not. that's another russian country guaranteeing them. I just showed it because it means next time we go to war, we'll have to fight them too.

Ready to declare war, but here's the problem: am I reading this right?
If i AM reading this right, that would mean they all can call in their allies into this war. If that is how this works, there is no way to declare this war now, there is no way we are fighting france AND denmark's allies AND norway's allies ect.
if it doesn't work like that, this will still be somewhat tough on us since the polish navy is nonexistent, but it won't be impossible.

Does anyone actually know how this works? I want to oblige by that poll's results but uh... we might just have to let this one go lads...
>>
wasn't there a ck3 mod that allowed you to integrate bannerlord with it somehow
not that i ever played it, i stopped caring for mount and blade gameplay after coming to /gsg/
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3G5IXn0K7A
yes that was a real mod, or is a real mod?
whenever you had a ck3 battle (i think maybe your ruler must've been a general also) you had the option to play out the battle and the mod would open an instance of bannerlord and set up a battle for you to play out where the troops would be scaled by a factor of 30 or something like that, so a battle with a few thousand on each side in ck3 would be abattle of 2x 300 guys
it'd try to match troop types with what's in bannerlord but idk how successful it was with that
>>

you really do want to invade lapland huh

i don't know enough about this game to be 100% sure, but i have never checked in the "make x a co-belligerent" because it seems like a way for you to eat more land at the price of having more assholes to fight with
as you said, you don't want to take on all these assholes, so i wouldn't make anyone a co-belligerent if i were you
>>
>60
look up what form of alliance this is, some kind of independence support?
iirc they dont get to call anyone in but i also havent encountered this in any significant capacity in a while. pretty sure its just there to block cobelligerenting them and *pretty* sure its like this for personal unions

colonial ottomans makes infinitely more sense than colonial poland and even that is horribly retarded
>>
one of the reasons for this run is to see what eu5 allows for, as far as ahistorical colonialism
in this sense, you calling the scenario of poland colonizing amerca "horribly retarded" is a strong argument for why he should stick to the plan and do it
>>
poland should go east and beat the steppeniggers at their own game
>>
if you have pops and cash you can just colonize all of the americas 10 out of 10 playthroughs
i remember doing a spain run where i just did exactly that while the ai were bumbling their way through africa trying to colonize provinces of 100k uppity niggers
>>
What you think is the strongest nation:
Ottomans, France, or Castile

What is actually the strongest nation:
Oirat
>>
>if you have pops and cash you can just colonize all of the americas 10 out of 10 playthroughs
>i remember doing a spain run where i just did exactly that
so you were doing something historical, which isn't the objective in his run
>>
i meant all as in all every single location
and again you can do this as anybody that is european and has pops and money
make me repeat myself again and i will make you regret ever having been born

>>
he does that, it's kind of his weakness
i've been ignored too, don't take it personally
but anyways, playing as spain and colonizing even the entirety of both americas isn't nearly as reassuring of possibilities that eu5 allows than playing as poland or muscovy or something else that hasn't colonized america and successfully colonizing america
>and again you can do this as anybody that is european and has pops and money
you say this
but
have you actually done this with a country that has never in history done this
i want to see it done
>>
the mechanics simply allow it what more do you want me to say if you aren't braindead and you try to colonize you can just grab all of the new world in exchange for like 50-100 years of bleeding cash and pops
you already see sicily and whatnot colonizing every run(well not YOU i suppose since it took you 5 months to play the game for 30 hours but uhh)

Colonies in EU IV provide trade value and merchants. They are one of the primary reasons that the English Channel hyper scales.

colonizing africa is boring and pointless
colonizing america is cool

Africa has some great coastal nodes. Ivory Coast, Cape and Zanzibar are all amazing for creating value.
Zanzibar can even draw trade from India.
>>
colonizing america is boring and pointless
colonizing finland is cool
>>
1. were talking americas not africa
2. no trade = no value
>>
I mean, create 5 colonies in a zone and then that will form a colonial nation. The colonial nation itself will then colonise for you.
Nation such as Spain can take almost all of the Americas by 1600.

The return on investment is definitely there and sometimes they will even send ships and armies to help you in your wars.
>>
r we talking about eu4 or eu5?
yeah colonizing is great in eu4, but going inno ideas is better
>>
the fact they dont need pops from home and instead just make them up out of thin air as well as jus assimilating redskins into whiteys ruins the vibe
>>
there's one guy talking about eu4 and another 2 talking about 5
no clue how none of them realized they're talking over eachother they look like utter fucking morons

there's an option to kill the indians, but it's bad because it requires you to garrison your colonies

I'd like to thank the helpful people who correctly parsed this UI and identified allies of these nations as not joining, thank you.
Just as we start our war. France started a war of their own, and cruicially, it's a war against the HRE, meaning Bohemia. Let's hope the war lasts for 4 years and their entire army dies.
The Irish front of the war is going surprisingly well, the polish army is almost entirely cavalry so we can easly outmanouver the enemy and never fight directly with enough micromanagement, basically performing guerilla warfare.
The relevant front(s) go even better with Lithuania being a total pushover. However, an enemy does arrive at the gates. Will they disrupt out war machine? Tune in next time (sunday) to find out!

>what do you guys think?
definitely will at least consider some of the suggestions
>poland should go east and beat the steppeniggers at their own game
the funny thing is, I can no longer fabricate a CB on them since they moved their capital "out of range", i'll need just a little tiny bit more blobbing to the east to be able to do that. definitely a goal to beat them up in some form, though blobbing there is a bit much IMO
>pole5bro read my comment then ignored my request to answer my question
what comment and what question -_- i'm scrolling through the thread and not seeing anything?
all the comments about colonising don't apply to me because they all start with "if you have pops and money" bitch i have neither

if eu5 development goes on long enough, should they add a "send volounteers" button like they have in hoi or something like that? maybe peoople can just pack up and go on their own if culture is liked enough or something?
