I believe that people forget nowadays, maybe because there are so many younger vtuber fans, but Nyanners is sort of the prototype/template for what vtubers (and anime-adjacent streamers) are in the west. And she doesn't really get the credit she deserves. Without her you certainly don't have Gura, and without Gura you don't have countless others. I find the parallel between her and Gura is pretty interesting: they both have insanely keen comedic sensibilities and cleverness, far beyond any peers, but Nyanners decided to lean into the absurdism while Gura leaned into being a more palatable personality and less experimental. Gura also edged her out because she was smart enough to never get political, and she knew how to sell out the RIGHT way. And most importantly, she was simply cuter. But even though she was totally bested by her protege, there would not be a Gura/Saba without Nyanners.Idk fellow oldheads, do you see it differently? As a mostly newer vtuber watcher I like Nyanners irreverent humor more, but Gura has a godtier singing voice, not that Nyans is bad just not as good. Also Nyan bent the knee and/or she genuinely and truly hates anything slightly 4chan adjacent, I cannot blame her because those were different times and the pressure must have been immense on her but still left a stain on her. Nyanners was in the right place at the not-so-right time, Guras was in the right time at the absolute best-possible-time(lockdowns). Many modern vtubers credit Nyanners as an inspiration so it's ok I guess, credit is given where its due.
