A drop of water in the sea? Or a snowball-cum-avalance?
>>
Selen's termination led to Gura's graduation. And the fault shall always be on kurosanji

?????????????????
>>
>>104066452
Corpo VTubers "accidentally" talking about stuff from their indie days and using their PL accounts to reply to indies became way more common. some Hololive members started treating Shiori like their senpai but that might just be a coincidence
>>
Sex with fagoons.
>>
>>104066452
She definitely kickstarted the indification of corpotubing
>>
>>104069922
It was inevitable
>join a big corpo
>grow your audience under their brand
>no longer want to deal with corpo autism after years of bending the knee
>graduate
>reappear as an indie while bringing a large chunk of your own audience
>do whatever the fuck you want, so long as you're smart about it
It's the ideal position you want to be as a big vtuber who still wants to create content. Selen may have been the big starter, but someone else would have done it in her stead otherwise.
>>
>>104066567
Shiori *is* a senpai to Justice
>>
>>104070063
It had already happened before, even within Nijisanji (Nina). Selen just stands out because of the high drama and quick turnaround.
>>
>>104066452
negligible
>>
>>104066452
>Her impact on the EN sphere
depends if you care about drama channels
>>
>>104066506
Meds. Gura was ghosting way before the Selen Shokku.
>>
>>104070063
>>104070436
It stands out because Niji went full retard. Like, unapologetically full retard, Streisand effect, lolcow, Nah I'll win level. Unironically.
>>
>>104066452
Normalized PL and roommate talk and thus some of the magic of vtubing died.
>>
>>104073722
Yeah, Selen was just the spark. The people who run Nijisanji were the ones who were privileged and delusional enough to think that they could just constantly show their ass to everyone for weeks on end without consequences. They were daring everyone to shit in their open mouths, and everyone in the EN sphere obliged.
>>
>>104073810
This was going to happen anyway. When you stream multiple times a week for several hours, you're in talk show territory.
And that's not a bad thing. I like yapping.

When I was still new to this hobby, I was seriously bummed because I wasn't sure if I'd ever see her again. I burned a week of vacation to watch her graduation streams, no joke. I love her hag yaps and I love her, both as a streamer and as a woman
Everyone who's shitting on Rosemi for not having as much turnout for her own graduation streams can get bent. We've been through this before, we know what the score is. We'll be there.for her freedom debut.

This, people forget how loyal Selen was to Nijisanji, but Ninjisani's neglect and abuse wore on her until she finally disobeyed them over the coffee song given it was designed as a gift to her fans and she put in a years work on them.
Two other facts were how she cultivated a fanbase that bucked the trends in Nijisanji fandoms where they were loyal to her and not the company, and how well she was able to network and build good will outside of Nijisanji. So when shit actually hit the fan, her fanbase mutinied and were the ones that were spamming her PL everyone to get people to support that which everyone did.
It didn't help that Eleria and company going full retard with the black screen stream which totally crippled NijiEN to the point it's a non entity.
Did that set the precedent for others? Yes, but it wasn't planned by Selen.
>>
>>104074482
She really did try, I remember. It just wasn't enough for Kurosanjj. They want everyone to be in the dogeza position at all times. People like Riku Tazumi need to be shamewalked like Cersei in GoT. And then flogged.

Kinda but that's also mostly just /vt/ bias. This actually got way more prevalent thanks to VShojo picking up Kuro and Matara. Kuro doesn't give a fuck and even played one of his Mysta songs on Osu and Matara is so fucking bad at not saying her old phrases and the like she just gave up like a week in and has all but said she was Nina in the time since.

I think pre-Selen termination, the idea that vtubers are just streamers with vtuber avatars and that it's the model pilot that matters was the most prevalent among indie and VShojo fans. Nijisanji mistreated her so badly, that now every EN vtuber fan harbors at least a small level of distrust towards vtuber corpos and believes it's not big deal to talk about past lives of ex-corpo indies.
>>
>>104074482
A black swan for Niji EN, and to a slightly lesser extent for the rest of the EN vtubing scene
Niji EN's unplanned disassembly was so rapid and catastrophic that even Jebediah Kerman was awestruck
>>
>>104073722
It's mind-boggling how badly they fucked everything up. Watching the black stream live was a surreal experience. It's like they made a list of the worst, most suicidal decisions they could possibly make and went "nah, I'm sure we can still do worse than this".
>>
>Hold my sake
>>
>>104066567
Probably worth noting the industry also matured. A lot of talents actually have worked at multiple companies and have 5+ years of stories to tell, something that wasn't true before.
>>
>>104066452
Her memes and her shining the spotlight on the Black Yacht company was her biggest impact. Respectable medium size viewership before and after going indie.
>>
>>104066452
Nobody cares about keeping old identities secret anymore and it's a direct consequence of the Selen Shock.
This is overall a good thing because the normies realized that the cultural standard did more to protect corporate interests than talents.

>>104066452
Unironically i think she showed the corpo slaves that -with a good enough fanbase- you could get more money and more opportunity
Before her Sana, Zaion, and Yugo quit/got terminated, but none of them actively DID anything to improve as indies (especially Sayu), which probably scared a lot of the corpos into sticking with their company
>>
>>104081173
kinda based
>>
>>104093901
and this is why i fucking love tomboys
>>
>>104093959
But part of this is that Zaion got terminated for reasons deemed "acceptable" and failed to be the perfect victim, while Sana was more attached to pursuing her freelance art career - which is something she ended up finding a lot of success in.

Meanwhile, Doki had the perfect narrative. Her track record was clean, suicide is an extreme low point that a lot of internet outcasts can empathize with, and morale was already low. She did manage to turn her situation around very well on her own, but her circumstances probably helped a lot.

I think it's no joke that they had to assemble a fucking war room just for the whole incident.
>>
>>104066452
What gets me is that they seriously even tried to do it to SELEN of all people. Selen was absolutely the worst possible person they could've ever chosen to try to smear. Even Pomu might not have survived the smears or gotten the same kind of severe pushback Selen had.

Seriously, no matter how you look at it, it was retarded and Selen was the worst target for this kind of termination out of the entirety of english vtubing.
>An extremely high earner who uses the entirety of her high earnings to create projects/assets for the branch, so the whole 'she's greedy' angle would have been hopeless
>constantly (usually successfully) organizing events and group collabs for the entire branch, managing everything by herself, so you can't say she's lazy, incompetent, or a lone wolf (publicly at least)
>Completely transparent about her pipelines and all of the work she's performing, as well as any delays on staff's end, so it was well known that staff was a major bottleneck for her projects, which completely dissolved the 'omg she's bypassing pipelines' shit
>Just... trying to say that she wouldn't pay artists. The woman who regularly has people on twitter talk about how she overpays them instead, or how far she goes to get them paid whenn Niji stiffed t hem.
>knows everyone. fucking EVERYONE. And is personal friends with them, getting to know each individual content creator, staff member, company head, etc. on a 1 on 1 basis. This makes it so any smears would never stick as many loud voices would be shouting back at them from all angles.
>still kept her network even after leaving, cementing herself as a mainstay in western streaming and forever becoming a gigantic elephant in the room for them to deal with.

I can't think of a worse person that could've been fired unless someone is secretly the daughter of a dictator with nukes access or something.
>>
>>104094237
you won't find me arguing that, but we've also seen Pomu, Ame, and Saba all grow quite well and aggressively from their own departures.
Won't say Doki wrote a "how to" book or set precedent, but i'd at least assume people saw her come back story and said "Oh i don't need to be here then"
>>
>>104094652
If someone actually paid attention to her "life updates at the start of her streams in year 1, they would've actually gotten a pretty effective template to follow. She was constantly talking about the different kinds of lawyers she needed to set up, how to set up her banking, copyright and trademark stuff, how she organizes and manages her staff as well as what each individual does and why it's important for her business, the hiccups she made and how she dealt with them, how she gets in contact and manages merch, etc.

If someone had time, they could string together the first half hour of every doki stream in year 1 and effectively make a "going independent" walkthrough.
>>
>>104080914
Barely even a rrat. Her getting fired proved that an EN corpo chuuba could just shill their other account after leaving a company and get an easy payday
>>
>>104073684
See >>104095498
We could have still had Gura had Nijisanji not been retarded
>>
>>104094612
This is why I still believe the Elira rrat to this day, only a woman moment could explain such a retarded play on their part.
Vox and some of the other "men" participating doesn't negate this, they have women brains too
>>
>>104066452
It's all kurosanji fault, everything they need is not be so greedy as fuck.

In the current reality Biboo mogs her.
>>
>>104074482
How do we know she was "neglected and abused"? What reason do we have to believe her words
>>
>>104098823
While I'm not discounting the Elira rrat, it's entirely believable that Niji's own ego simply grew too large to the point where they thought they were untouchable no matter what they said or did. They completely misread the EN fanbase and thought they'd take their word as gospel, and that hubris was their downfall
>>
>>104098823
>>104100743
Just go read about the Lyrica-Mocca spat from five years ago, Elira helps in the bullying but she's not the main bully in Hanamori
>>
>>104100743
Alternative Selen reached a status of being untouchable while inside of Niji and decided to have a hospital stay to reach a status of sainthood.
>>
>>104066452
>a snowball-cum-avalance
That's more Luca's impact than Selen's.
>>
>>104066452
it was negligible
>>
>>104100601
"Neglected and abused" means "didn't obey simple management requests and weaselled out of repercussions over and over until she was fired"
